With over 2,000 downloads in under 24 hours, developer Sebastian Seidel might have accidentally bitten off a bit more of Churu than he could chew!

As millennials, we loved everything about Pokémon Go. It gave us an excuse to walk around outside and relive the purest meowments of our childhood with all the cute characters we remembered from our golden years. We're pretty sure we increased our daily steps by 5x the normal amount during Pokémon Go's peak. Like all trends, it fell out of fashion after a while, especially when people realized that the company was actually using its users to build a giant map database using their phone cameras. Some people still play it to this day, but the number is only a fraction of what it was years ago.

Until now.

Just yesterday, developer Sebastian Seidel posted on his X page a celebration of his second app being up and running on the Google Play Store. It's called "CatchCat", and it's exactly what you're hoping it is.

CatchCat essentially runs the same as Pokémon Go, allowing you to "capture" cats you encounter in real life, turn them into playable cards, and build a cat-dex of hissterical cats to battle with your friends. The app even has anti-cheating measures that block you from simply uploading a picture of a cat!

You know us here at I Can Has Cheezburger love anything nostalgic and anything involving cats, so this app is right up our alley. You better believe we're gonna catch 'em all, including all the stray cats in our neighborhood, and probably even yours. When summer comes, we're thinking about cats, and only cats. Not that it's different from any other season of the year, because all cat people think about their cats constantly, and cats are great all year round. But when summer comes, and cats catch all the sunbeams, we're reminded that even the heat and the sweat can't bring a cat's spirit down. Cats enjoy summer just like they do every other season, which helps us contain this scorching heat even better.

This cat's summer affinity is evident in many examples, but a recent one truly caught our eyes, in the most wholesome way possible. @wildetide.co uploaded to Instagram the most adorable first-time visit of her family's kitten to the beach - and what started as a scardy cat experience turned into a fully-fledged family fun time that includes paws, purrs, and kitten joy. These instances fill our feline-loving hearts with happiness.

We can't say we could ever bring our own cat to the beach like that. She's curious alright, asking to go on a walk with the cat leash - though she's never walking far away from the building where we live. And generally, every sighting of a human that gets too close, or a dog across the street, sends her running back home. Her curiosity is not greater than her fear of the great outdoors, unfortunately. She'll have to make do with the street surrounding our building.

Bonding with a stray cat comes with risks. And rewards. Such as more stray cats.

It is as simple as this, friends: once you bond with a stray cat, you have to deal with all the consequences that come along with that. That stray cat might walk into your home one day and demand that you adopt it, and you will have no option but to comply. That stray cat might turn out to be a pregnant cat, and then you will have not one, but many adorable fluffballs to take care of. And that stray cat might do what the kitty on r/notmycat did. That stray cat might bring a friend to share their meals with.

This, of course, isn't the first time that we have seen this happen. Once you show kindness to a cat once, they remember it, and they are completely unashamed to come back and ask for more. Not that they should be. We are always happy to see them back. But generally, when we feed one stray cat, we don't expect to have a whole litter to deal with. But that - now that is our mistake.

We, here at ICHC, have been warning people for years. Do not feed stray cats unless you are willing to deal with the consequences. Because cats remember. And cats report to the CDS. But this one reminds us of the true power of cats - the meowgical ability to help someone not only find love for something else, but love for themselves.

Our cat lover was ready to give up on life. The darkness had all but consumed them, but some tiny, desperate meows pierced through the darkness and found them. They got up and found the source of the meowing, a smol, shivering, soaked kitten hiding underneath a car on a rainy night. Cat lovers may be a lot of things (eccentric, quirky, introverted, etc), but one thing you can't fault them for is always putting an animal's needs before their own. We just can't help it. If we find a smol, rain-soaked kitten on a stormy night, no matter how inconvenient it is, we'll take them home, give them a warm and safe place to sleep, and figure the rest out tomorrow. That's what happened to Baz Paws in his YouTube video. He found a "kitten" alone in the rain and took it home. But, as the kitten grew, he realized that this wasn't a normal kitten at all.

This fluffy baby didn't really "meow" like other cats. He wouldn't eat his dry food and only nommed on meat. The biggest shock was when he started growing… and never stopped. He just grew. And grew. And grew. And grew!

By the time the "cat" was an adult, it was already adjusted to living indoors, and couldn't be released back into the wild, so now the man had a full-grown Pallas' cat running his life and taking over his apartment. They had to get to know each other all over again, because manuls are wild cats and not meant to live indoors. He has to buy meat for all his meals, he treats his territory different than normal indoor cats. He says it's like living with a giant grumpy furball, that secretly loves him like a pawrent.

Now, you know that we have to put a disclaimer here: you should never attempt to raise a wild cat as your pet. Always contact the appropriate authorities, like a wildlife rescue organization. You don't want to become the next Joe Exotic, do you? As fun as might seem to live with one of these cantankerous floofballs, they are wild cats, and are not meant to live a domesticated life. The chances for a very dangerous "oopsie" are not worth it.

Kindness comes in many forms. Adopting a terminally ill cat might be one of the purest.

Whenever this story was first shared on r/cats, the person who rescued this stray cat didn't know that she had so little time left. They bonded with her, spent time with her as a stray, and tried their best to gain her trust. Eventually, she allowed them to get close enough to take her to the vet, and that's where things got a little more difficult.

Someone else in that position might have acted differently. Getting the news that the 2-year-old cat you rescued and bonded with doesn't have a long time left would be heartbreaking. Someone else might have been unable to deal with the heartbreak and would have left the cat with the vet or at a shelter. But the right thing to do - the kindest thing - was to make sure that this cat spends the time she has left in the best way, the happiest that she has ever been. It really is the best birthday surprise when your "tadpole" becomes a kitten.

In Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem, a couple go to the pet store to take their son to get a birthday gift. They had the intention of getting him a tadpole or fish, something low maintenance that they don't have to care for too much. They already have two elderly dogs at home, and don't want too much hassle. Upon getting there, they see that there's a couple foster cats in the store that their son was gazing at. He wanted a cat instead, and to the couple's surprise, they didn't say no. They almost lost their cocker spaniel, so they were thinking it could be a healing addition to the family. The foster cats were adult females but they needed to go through a process to match, so they didn't want to wait. They went by the animal shelter to see if there were adult female cats there, but instead they fell in love with a little tuxedo kitten. He immediately climbed into their arms with sweet purrs. Losing a cat is horrible, finding a lost cat is amazing, but the unknown of the in-between is very weird.

If you're a cat parent, raising your cat child with love and care, you know how scary the thought of losing them is. We're not talking about cats crossing the rainbow bridge from old age - it's extremely sad, but at least something you can prepare for and expect, knowing your cat has led a great life before their passing. But when a cat goes missing, when you literally lose your cat, as plain as day - it's a very scary thought. We hope no cat parent (and no cat!) will go through it.

We almost lost our cat this way - when she was a few months old kitten, she fell from the third-floor window because she wanted to chase a bird. We later found her, scared and alone, hiding in a bush. After a vet visit, to make sure she's okay (mostly, she was), we took her back home. This was six years ago, she's alive and well. But… the thought of the potential to never find her again is a haunting one that we really prefer not to think about. But there's even a more overwhelming and weird thought we're glad we didn't have to deal with - what if we've found our cat, but we were not sure she was our cat at all?

All these things are true, but what we stand by strongly is that whatever you choose to do on the weekend - with a cat it's even better. If you choose to dedicate this weekend to a fun activity, like hiking outdoors, you can always take your cat on a leash. The trouble with cat lovers is they often have a house full of felines already. So when they come to save another cat things get tricky. After all, adding a new cat to your home is much simpler than finding a home for a cat you just saved. But for this feline rescuer, it was just another day saving feline kind one cat at a time.

Peoples' devotion to cats continues to impress and amaze us. With each passing story we grow more and more enamored with the kind people who step forth to save and improve a cat child's life. And this story from Reddit's r/cats subreddit is one of the more endearing examples of a dedicated cat lover that we have come across. So dedicated in fact that she was already housing 7 sweet souls in her home, all of whom had been injured or abandoned and were without a home or shelter.

Of course this meant that when a freshly dumped orange cat landed on her doorstep her hands were tied. Beyond providing basic checks and some food she was unable to give this cat the life it so deserved. But unsatisfied with that option, our rescuer stepped up and took things a step further to ensure that this sweet cat would never know another night on the streets. Finding him a furever home was never going to be easy, especially with limited vetting capabilities, but with a lot of effort and searching the right family was found and this fur baby never knew loneliness another day in his life.

His name is Murmur. From Reddit's r/blackcats, this family tells the tale of their adopting Murmur. It started August 2024, when they saw their cat at home looking out the window. He was staring back at a black cat from outside, looking at him. He was skittish and ran off as soon as he heard them open the door to see where he was going. They didn't see him again until November 2025. They put food out for him, and he would only eat if they left him to be alone. It's not very much fun to be alive in this era.

Don't get us wrong, there are still plenty of things to be pawsitive about. We have a loving family, two cats that we treat like our children, a car, and a stable job. As long as people keep posting their cats on the internet, we'll have a future, and that's more than some people can say right now. But even with these pawsitive things, it's easy to feel like life is too overwhelming.

The first thing we want to tell you is that it's normal to feel this way. Life is hard, and it's not easy, but we'll make it through. Sometimes, though, you have to take a break to gather yourself and come back stronger. This is one of those meowments. Cats are finicky creatures. You can give them a purrfect plethora of warm, cushy beds, the highest quality food and treats, all the attention they could ever want (and more), and they still might try to bolt every time you open the front door. Their curiosity gets the better of them sometimes, and even though we know better, they don't. Our spoiled little cat children are not built for survival, for example, they can't even "hunt" their toy mice. We're pretty sure they have no hunting instincts at all, unless you count incessant meowing until we open a can of tuna for them as "hunting".

This is why it's impurrtant to microchip your cats, because in the case that they do pull off a Houdini-level escape from the living room, all someone has to do is find them and take them to a vet, and they should be returned to you. That's also assuming that whoever found them will do the right thing, but that's a whole other topic that we're not getting into today.

Luckily, there are still good people in the world, and one of them can be found in Reddit's r/notmycat subreddit. They rescued an expensive designer breed kitten (Scottish fold) that they found in their yard. Instead of keeping the kitten for themselves, they took him to the vet, checked for a microchip, and safely returned him to his owner. There's a very big contrast between the start of Koda's life and the life he leads now, as u/StillSea9674 tells on r/nowmycat. It's like looking at a black-and-white page, with a very clear distinction between the two sides. Seeing a now-pampered cat in the beautiful pictures they added won't tell you anything about how he lived poorly for the first seven years of his life. If anything, we're grateful for the Cat Distribution System for fitting this beautiful boy with the right human parents, who now give him the best life he can live.

It's not that we didn't know that some people treat cats horridly, but hearing of a first-hand account with such horrendous details makes our stomachs ache. We can't fathom hurting animals (or people, for that matter) in this way. We can't understand how someone gets to a situation where they knowingly put animals in harm's way on such a scale. But unlike many on this property with hoarded animals, Koda was one of the only survivors. He was not well, though - this life led him to have many health issues that needed treating. And that's where we're so grateful for the CDS to pair him with the people willing to nurse him back to health, and loveingly so.

Reading through Koda's story is an emotional rollercoaster - but because after a very low low there's a very high high. The happy end is a sharp contrast to all that he had to go through. It's sad to say, but there aren't many things in this world that bring us joy anymore. Even going to the movies to see something like Scary Movie 6, which is literally tailored for our millennial souls, sounds like a chore now with the rising ticket prices and people's inability to behave themselves in public anymore. Or even going out to eat, we'd rather stay at home and cook in our comfy clothes than go pay for small, overpriced entree and less-than-spectacular service. It just doesn't have the same appeal as it did in 2012.

But, we've held onto a few things that are like chicken soup for our souls. One is reading, we have never stopped since becoming obsessed with the Harry Potter series when we were kids. The second, and the reason we're here with you today, is cats. All cats. Our own cats, befriending random street cats, and also enjoying all the heartwarming feline pictures on the internet whenever we're feeling like we need a mood booster.

We come here every Friday with the same feeling: a desire for a fleeting meowment of cat-centered joy. A break in the day where we don't have anything else to focus on except for those cute, fluffy things we call felines. Some people - uh… like us - pray for the CDS to find them every single day. We think we're worth it. We think we've earned it. But alas, we have not been chosen again quite yet, and we are waiting (im)patiently for it to finally happen. Other people don't ask for it at all. They hate cats, they don't want cats, they already have too many cats. There is always an excuse, but the cats never hear it. They don't care. The CDS works in meowsterious ways, and whether a cat will adopt you or not is not up to you.

The person who shared today's story on r/CatDistributionSystem had those same excuses. They weren't looking to adopt a cat. They already have a cat and a dog. But one look at this tiny pair of kittens, and they knew that they had to take them home. The meowgic took over. All other thoughts were wiped from their brains. It was only "kittens", and just like that, they ended up with four pets in their home instead of two. So, if you're wondering how to call on the CDS, we have no answer. We do everything that we can, as fosters, to make sure our foster cats get to the best homes, but we can never be 100% sure…

Fostering a cat is hard enough as it is. Not the fostering itself. We do it because we want to help shelters, because we want to help as many cats as pawssible to find their homes. The hard part is not bonding with the cat, it's not taking care of the cat and taking it to the vet.

The hard part is letting them go. Because we really do bond with them. We try to make them happy when they are with us, and if they really are happy, then taking them away from that happiness hurts. But we look for homes for them anyway, because we want to help other cats too. We just try our best to make sure the home they end up in is a good one.

Of course, there is no way to be 100% sure that the home you've found is a good one. We do our best, but sometimes, we're wrong. And when a cat gets returned to the shelter, especially if it was a cat that we fostered, out heart breaks. And the heart of user @laurennwedge on twitter broke too when that happened. So they took things into their own hands, and the solution was simple… just adopt the cat.

She's never had a cat before, and she decided with her husband that this is the best course of action for their next pet. Better to try something new than keep going when you see it doesn't work. She even told the universe to give her a cat from the cat distribution service after she comes back from her music festivals at Lightning in a Bottle. Sure enough, her and her husband got home and her neighbor promptly knocked on her door with an offering from above. He said he's moving and no longer able to take care of his cat, and surely handed the furball over to them. They knew it was due to their wish to the universe, and the universe answered. Despite some health issues, the cat is fine now and they're so happy to be gifted this furry friend from the universe. Remember that when you ask something, it might be granted. Who said cats hate water? Well maybe most cats do, but these are not your average kitties!

Summer is around the corner and these cats are summer READY. No bathing suit needed, furry skin got them covered! Who would have thought cats would enjoy spending so much time by the water? These kitties are not your regular home kitties, your indoor cat won't let you clean its mouth with a little bit of water. These guys? Swimming, surfing, castle making, you name it. Some kitties are just built different, no amount of salt, waves, and itchy eyes will stop them. I think this time it was us who underestimated their abilities to adapt. Another advantage our feline friends have is their abilities to nap anywhere. Personally, I would need (a lot) of sun protection, a towel to lay my body, a hat and a water bottle by my side. Cats who are abandoned do not usually find homes within the first 24hrs of their stray life. Largely due to the fact that they are frozen with fear and usually hiding themselves really well until they feel somewhat safe enough to move about. But in this story our rescue is swift and immediate.

You see this story from Reddit's r/cats subreddit is a wonderfully special example of what can happen if a rescuer can get to an abandoned cat fast enough. Now, when we say fast enough we mean within seconds of the dumping happening. Otherwise the cat will likely run off to hide as detailed above.

So of course it is the case that most of the time it is unfeasible for a rescuer to turn up right as a cat is being abandoned. But in this story we are lucky enough to actually see this act of purrfect timing in action and how it was able to save a scared cat from succumbing to the streets and had him placed in a warm and loving home with fluffy sheets instead. A truly happy ending to make up for a sad and sorrow-filled beginning.
