Confessions of a Shopaholic eBook by Kinsella, Sophie
Customer Review: This is a good book for you sopaholics out there who doesn't have a clue. I bought a hard copy of this book and can't say that I enjoyed reading it from the beginning. I found that the main character Rebecca in the beginning of the novel was really too stupid. Certain things she did and said to me was just not real enough. But from the middle right through to the end, I started being able to relate to her. I didn't particularly like the style of writing, but the thing I liked about this book is the message in there. Rebecca starts out very selfish and stupid, waiting for a someone to come along and clear her debts for her and somewhere along the way, she became more self conscious and independent. She became more responsible.

The Oblivion Society eBook by Hart, Marcus, Alexander
What would you do if you slept through the apocalypse? What if everything you knew about disaster survival came from old B-movies? What would you do if society as you know it suddenly became The Oblivion Society?

Vivian Gray is too young and too smart to be wasting her life in the geriatric retirement haven of Stillwater, Florida. But as each day of the long, hot summer of 1999 blurs into the next, she just can't find the motivation to break out of her miserable routine.

After an accidental nuclear war reduces civilization to a smoldering ruin, apathy is a luxury Vivian can no longer afford. She quickly joins a comically inept bunch of twentysomething survivors, and together they try to ride out Armageddon on little more than scavenged junk food and half-remembered pop culture.

When the contaminated atmosphere unleashes a menagerie of deadly atomic mutants, Vivian and her friends take to the interstate for a madcap cross-country road trip toward a distant sanctuary that may not, in the strictest sense of the word, exist. But can they get to safety before the toxins get to them?

Meet the Characters
Click the Picture

Meet the citizens of Stillwater, Florida

A grocery clerk, a male model, two geeks, a sexy bartender, an ignorant boss, and a belligerent goth girl.

Could these misfits actually be the last people on Earth?

Labyrinth eBook by Sengupta, Arunabha
Learn Tamil in Thirty Days

One Hundred and One ways of Getting Married

The Book of Indian Cookery

Who would submit bills of these titles against a grant meant for big, fat, jargon-filled books on Software Technology?

But, then, Vikram Gupta is no run of the mill Software Professional.

Fresh out of college, highly qualified, in great shape and intelligent, he is employed by ACS, the biggest name in the Indian Software World. He is the archetypical image of a young man with a glorious future ahead of him.

Yet, he has his problems.

He loathes his job, abhors everything about Chennai and hates the guts of his reporting boss. And more importantly, he has the questionable gifts of eccentric logic, irreverence for authority and a macabre sense of humour, which more often than not, place him on sticky wicket.

As the year 2000 approaches, accompanied by the dreaded Y2K bug, ACS goes about its customary way of getting innumerable projects done dirt cheap by employing fresh graduates whom they can brow beat, bully and exploit. However, in Vikram Gupta, they run against something they have never encountered before.

Within the spic and span corridors of the multinational firm, Vikram discovers conspiracies that threaten to spell doom for the hordes of young people recruited by the company. And he pits his eccentric wits against the cold-blooded deviousness of entrepreneur-par-excellence S. Digambaram, the EVP of ACS Chennai. Somehow along the line, he also manages to fall in love. But, can a sole youth, even aided by cupid, succeed against a giant corporate?

What results is an uproarious rollercoaster ride encompassing the deepest secrets of the software world just before the turn of the century. The technological landscape of the software world is etched with numerous colourful characters from all walks of life.

"A most refreshing sense of humour."

-Shyamala Narayan

In Her Shoes: A Novel eBook by Weiner, Jennifer
Meet Rose Feller. She's thirty years old and a high-powered attorney with a secret passion for romance novels. She has an exercise regime she's going to start next week, and she dreams of a man who will slide off her glasses, gaze into her eyes, and tell her that she's beautiful. She also dreams of getting her fantastically screwed-up little sister to get her life together. Meet Rose's sister, Maggie. Twenty-eight years old, drop-dead gorgeous and only occasionally employed, Maggie sings backup in a band called Whiskered Biscuit. Although her dreams of big-screen stardom haven't progressed past her left hip's appearance in a Will Smith video, Maggie dreams of fame and fortune - and of getting her dowdy big sister to stick to a skin-care regime. These two women with nothing in common but a childhood tragedy, shared DNA, and the same size feet, are about to learn that their family is more different than they ever imagined, and that they're more alike than they'd ever believe. In Her Shoes - Jennifer Weiner's follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut, Good in Bed - observes Rose and Maggie, the brain and the beauty, as they make journeys of discovery that take them from the streets of Philadelphia to Ivy League libraries to a "retirement community for active seniors" in Boca Raton. Along the way, they'll encounter a wild cast of characters -- from a stepmother who's into recreational Botox to a small, disdainful pug with no name. They'll borrow shoes and clothes and boyfriends, and make peace with their most intimate enemies - each other. Funny and poignant, richly detailed and wrenchingly real, In Her Shoes will speak to anyone who has endured the bonds of big - or little - sisterhood, or longed for a life different from the one the world has dictated, and dreamed of trying something else on for size.

What skeletons are the vampires keeping in their designer closets? When Milagro's life is threatened by a rogue family member, she flees to the desert to hide.
Shopaholic Takes Manhattan eBook by Kinsella, Sophie
<blockquote>"This expensive, glossy world is where I've been headed all along. Limos and flowers; waxed eyebrows and designer clothes from Barneys. These are my people; this is where I'm meant to be." --Becky Bloomwood</blockquote><p>Universally beloved by readers, Sophie Kinsella's national bestseller, <I>Confessions of a Shopaholic,</I> introduced the irrepressible one-woman shopping phenomenon, Becky Bloomwood. Now, in this hilarious follow-up, Becky and her credit cards are headed across the Atlantic....</p><p>With her shopping excesses (somewhat) in check and her career as a TV financial guru thriving, Becky's biggest problem seems to be tearing her entrepreneur boyfriend, Luke, away from work for a romantic country weekend. And worse, figuring out how to "pack light." But packing takes on a whole new meaning when Luke announces he's moving to New York for business -- and he asks Becky to go with him!</p> <p>Before you can say "Prada sample sale," Becky has landed in the Big Apple, home of Park Avenue penthouses and luxury department stores.</p> <p>Surely it's only a matter of time until she becomes an American TV celebrity, and she and Luke are the toast of Gotham society. Nothing can stand in their way, especially with Becky's bills miles away in London.</p> <p>But then an unexpected disaster threatens her career prospects, her relationship with Luke, and her available credit line! <I>Shopaholic Takes Manhattan</I> -- but will she have to return it?</p>

Shopaholic & Sister eBook by Kinsella, Sophia
<p>Sophie Kinsella has conquered the hearts of millions with her <i>New York Times</i> bestselling Shopaholic novels, which feature the irresistible one-woman shopping phenomenon Becky Bloomwood. Now Becky's back in a hilarious, heartwarming tale of married life, best friends, and long-lost sisters (and the perils of simply having to own an Angel handbag!).</p><p>What's a round-the-world honeymoon if you can't buy the odd souvenir to ship back home? Like the Chinese urns and twenty silk dressing gowns Becky found in Hong Kong&hellip;the five kilim rugs from Turkey&hellip;the splendid hand-carved dining table (and ten chairs) from Sri Lanka&hellip;the, um, huge wooden giraffes from Malawi (that her husband Luke expressly forbade her to buy)&hellip;</p><p>Only now Becky and Luke have returned home to London and Luke is furious. Two truckloads of those souvenirs have cluttered up their usually immaculate loft, and the bills for them are outrageous. Becky's even maxed out on her second secret credit card, and she doesn't have a new job yet!</p> <p>Luke insists she go on a budget. And worse: her beloved best friend Suze has found a new best friend while Becky was away. Becky's feeling rather blue&mdash;when her parents deliver some incredible news. She has a long-lost sister! Becky is thrilled! She's convinced her sister will be a true soulmate. They'll go shopping together, drink cappuccinos together, have manicures together, and watch their favorite videos together.</p><p>Until she meets Jessica for the first time and gets the shock of her life.
The Devil's Dictionary eBook by Bierce, Ambrose
The Devil's Dictionary was begun in a weekly paper in 1881, and was continued in a desultory way at long intervals until 1906. In that year a large part of it was published in covers with the title The Cynic's Word Book, a name which the author had not the power to reject or happiness to approve. Meantime, too, some of the enterprising humorists of the country had helped themselves to such parts of the work as served their needs, and many of its definitions, anecdotes, phrases and so forth, had become more or less current in popular speech. This explanation is made, not with any pride of priority in trifles, but in simple denial of possible charges of plagiarism, which is no trifle. In merely resuming his own the author hopes to be held guiltless by those to whom the work is addressed -- enlightened souls who prefer dry wines to sweet, sense to sentiment, wit to humor and clean English to slang.
