I’m happy to announce the release of a very simple portfolio theme into the wild.

It’s called “Base” because that’s really what it is, a foundation to build your portfolio as well as a foundation of code that you can customize to your liking.

It’s not too complicated nor overly packed with features, but it’ll do just fine for some simple stuff (and anything else you may want to use it for).

It just requires the latest version of Twitter Tools Wordpress Plugin to run, and that’s it!

I’ve also included a file to import and use so that you can see how I created some of the content in theme. The only thing really worth remembering is using the custom field “image” to insert a featured image.

I’m awesome at hearing you but I’m not awesome at actually listening to you. I’m awesome at knowing that you said something but I’m not awesome at knowing specifically what was said. I’m awesome at doing stuff but not awesome at doing the stuff that you had asked me to do.

This is serious. I read this article here that says 1 out of 5 kids have a cellphone by the time they are 8 years old.

Wow.

My daughter started actually using my iPhone (not just banging things on it) before she was 2. And even before that she was using one (pic taken above is from January 1, 2008).

She’s 3 now and can do almost anything on it, including call my mom and my brother, browse movies to watch or browse music to listen to, and play every game on there.

She also knows how to re-arrange the icons on the phone as well as delete stuff (sad…).

But, it’s Appa’s phone. It’s Daddy’s phone. Not Roenne’s. And she knows this.

So, when do I get her one? What age did you let your kids have one?

Oh… and when did you get your first cell phone? I got mine when I was like 18…

The Lord is my real boss, and I shall not want.
He gives me peace, when chaos is all around me.
He gently reminds me to pray and do all things without murmuring and complaining.

He reminds me that He is my source and not my job.
He restores my sanity every day and guides my decisions that I might honor Him in all that I do.

Even though I face absurd amounts of e-mails, system crashes, unrealistic deadlines, budget cutbacks, gossiping co-workers, discriminating supervisors and an aging body that doesn’t cooperate every morning, I still will not stop – for He is with me!

His presence, His peace, and His power will see me through.
He raises me up, even when they fail to promote me.
He claims me as His own, even when the company threatens to let me go.

His faithfulness and love is better than any bonus check.
His retirement plan beats any 401K there is!
When it’s all said and done, I’ll be working for Him a whole lot longer and for that, and I will Bless His Name!

We are so messed up.

Let’s be honest for a sec. In fact, nevermind. You can’t. You can’t possibly know everything that’s messed up in your life without another person looking in.

(An added benefit to marriage… and community I might add!)

We are simply blind to our blind spots (duh).

Some recent marriage counseling helped me realize that I have some personal issues that need some significant attention.

So, back to the plush offices with comfortable chairs, soothing music, and men with silky voices with an uncanny ability to ask tough personal questions without offending.

I had my first personal counseling session yesterday morning and I can already feel the scales falling from my eyes. Sometimes it just takes a fresh, objective, 3rd party perspective to tell you what you already knew but really never believed.

I’ve got my next session on the calendar. Here’s to coming out clean.
