Music Matters 2013: J-Rock Matters Media Conference

23rd May 2013, Singapore - Japan's largest entertainment news portal, BARKS, shared about its business strategy for its overseas market.

BARKS has recently launched it's English website(www.en.barks.jp) on 12th April 2013, and on 23rd May 2013, its Simplified Chinese website (www.zh-cn.barks.jp) and Traditional Chinese website www.zh-tw.barks.jp are being launched to better reach out to it's international audience.

According to Producer of BARKS, Mr Tadashi Goto, BARKS has been receiving request from the global community to learn more about Japanese music, but majority of the information are available to the public in Japanese only. With the new languages website, BARKS hopes to share the latest news and trends of Japan music and artists with more people overcoming the language barrier.

During the press conference, members from famous Japanese bands - SID, Flumpool and WEAVER also expressed their anticipation and desire to be able to share their music with the world through BARKS as the medium.

As part of Music Matters 2013, BARKS will be presenting J-Rock Matters on 23 May 2013.
A showcase of emerging and established J-Rock bands, J-Rock matters is set to be an unforgettable night of top-notch Asian music entertainment.

The live event, "J-rock Matters presented by BARKS", will be held on Singapore from 9pm, as a JAPAN SHOWCASE, where Flumpool and SID WILL be performing on the main stage that has the capacity to hold 15,000 people.

At 11pm in the same day, the groups will be switching locations to the Beer Market. WEAVER will join flumpool and SID to have an exclusive invite-only event where they will perform a secret gig.
Music Matters Live with HP

The annual Music Matters Live with HP is a three-night music festival featuring emerging and established bands from Asia and around the world. This time, it will be featuring over 50 bands from more than 20 countries, perform over 160 shows around Clarke Quay over three nights.

There will be representatives from Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, England, France, Hong Kong, Latvia, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, Taiwan and the USA - performing at the 7 participating venues around Clarke.

Two major races, Singapore Airlines International Cup 2013 and KrisFlyer International Sprint had live broadcast on the CNA channel over last Sunday which showcased to more than millions of audience to witness the live SIA race in Singapore.

South Korea Suncheon Trip Day 4: Naganeupseong Folk Village

Woohoo! Welcome back to my South Korea travel blog! Hope you have read my Korea Day 3 Trip! Today I will be continue sharing my South Korea trip Day 4 and this time round, we had travelled from Tongyeong to Suncheon City, Southern Part of South Korea.

Yup! It’s another long journey! We bought the highway express bus tickets from Tongyeong Central bus Terminal cost at 8500 KRW and the travel time from Tongyeong to Suncheon was about 2 hours. After we had touch down at Suncheon Central Bus Terminal, we took a cab to our hotel destination – Venezia Hotel, one of the famous hotels in Suncheon.

Welcome to the village! Yes! For the day 4 happening, we had visited Naganeupseong Folk Village, one of the well-known tourist attraction places in Suncheon. I was surprise when I first step into the Naganeupseong Folk Village, it was a peaceful moment as you can see a group of folks happily sitting down and chatting among themselves. Life was very relaxing with their traditional village culture.

Hence, you will also get to see our newly-commissioned Archer-class submarine in action during the display, an opportunity not to be missed!

South Korea Tongyeong Trip Day 3

Hi Readers! Hope you have enjoy reading my Korea Day 2 Trip! Welcome back to my blog and is time for me to continue my South Korea trip post! Today, I will be sharing with you guys about my Day 3 journey in South Korea and this time round, we had travelled from Busan City to Tongyeong City.

South Korea trip Day 3; we packed our luggage and check-out our hotel early morning in Busan and took a 55 minutes subway from Centum city station to Sasang station and followed by walking to the Busan Seobu Intercity Bus Terminal.

We bought the express highway bus ticket to Tongyeong city and

the whole journey took us about two hour to reach our destination.

We stayed at Tongyeong Anchovy Hotel!

Next, we checked-in to one of the famous hotel in Tongyeong, the Anchovy Hotel. I totally like the high-end multimedia system in this hotel room, very elegant and luxury and by seeing through the transparent glass window, I am enjoying the breezy coastal scenery. To add on, the staff service at Anchovy Hotel was polite and friendly too.

It was a perfect sunny day during my third day of South Korea trip in Tongyeong and let’s takes a walk along the beautiful and busy Tongyeong Coastal Street which also known as Tongyeong Dongpirang village. Along the way, we saw many stall selling dry salty fish, grilled cuttlefish fish and some of their local food which rarely seen in Singapore.

Its lunch time! We came by a stall selling the traditional gimbap (Korean Dried Seaweed Rice Rolls) along the way of Tongyeong Dongpirang village. Yup! This was my first time eating the traditional gimbap and I like it although the taste was different from the usual Japanese sushi.

Alright! After our lunch, is time for some adventure mountain climbing! Woohoo! We took a cab and travel to the tourist attraction in Tongyeong - Halleyosudo Landscape Cable Car station. Woot! We bought a two-way cable car ticket cost at 9000 KRW and headed up to visit the Mireuksan Mountain.

Welcome to the top of Mireuksan! Mireuksan is a mountain in the city of Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do in South Korea. The height of Mireuksan is 461m tall and according to research, it is considered one of the 100 best mountains in Korea. While not as high as other mountains, it is home to a lush forest, valleys with pure water, odd-shaped rocks, rock caves, and ancient temples.

To conclude my South Korea Day 3 Trip:
This was my first time visiting Tongyeong South Korea. Many of the local people there was surprised when we say we are from Singapore. Well, however I am attracted with the beautiful nature landscape scenery in Tongyeong. I went for a Hallyeosudo Landscape Cable Car ride and successfully visited Summit Mt. Mireuksan. I stun at a moment when I climb up to the highest point of the mountain and I would like to say that everything was worth it for great achievement in life. Stay tune for my South Korea Day 4 Trip! It’s weekend! How you guys spend your weekend? Thanks Foodnews for the invitation, I had a great brunch tasting session today with a group of cheerful bloggers at The Halia restaurant at Raffles Hotel.

The Halia is a kind of modern European restaurant with elegant interior, serving casual cuisine and signature dishes such as Singapore-style chilli crab spaghetti, oriental pulled duck, Javanese spice rack of lamb and drink like Singapore Sling.

South Korea Trip Day 2: Tourist Attractions in Busan

Woohoo! Welcome back readers! I hope you have read my South Korea Trip Day 1 Blog Post and today I am going to continue my journey post about my Day 2 South Korea trip in Busan. Yes! As you can see this post is super long because we really had a super long fruitful day!

To start off our Day 2 tour in Busan, we proceed on to Centum City station and bought the Humetro one-day pass from the vending machine which cost at 4000KRW. Followed by, we took a subway to Haeundae station.

After we reached the Haeundae station, we moved on to exit 7 of Haeundae station and took a bus #181 directly to Haedong Yonggungsa Temple. Along our way, I would like to thank those people who guided us there. It wasn’t easy as a tourist; we spent about 50 minutes to reach there. Hence, I got help from my google map too!

Google map had become my personal useful guide during my trip to unfamiliar places.

Wow! It was an amazing and stunning moment when my first step into the Haedong Yonggungsa Temple. The Buddhist temple was located right at a high hill and it was a great achievement to climb up the high hill and see the beautiful breezing sea-view scenery. I really enjoyed experience the chilling weather at Haedong Yonggungsa Temple. It’s also our lucky day to meet a new friend’s Zhenxia who currently an exchange student in Korea.

Next, we went to the nearby café located outside along the street of Haedong Yonggungsa Temple to have coffee break with our new friend’s Zhenxia. The café interior was very traditional and the price-range of a coffee was very reasonable.

I enjoyed my hot cappuccino drink and Thanks to the free Wi-Fi, I managed to check my blog and update my friends about my Korea trip LIVELY by using the Microsoft Surface RT.

Last night in Busan!

Evening-Night time, we took a subway to Nampo Station to visit our last destination in our travel itinerary. In Busan nightlife, the places you have to visit were Nampo-dong, BIFF Plaza, Gukje Market and Jagalchi Market. This was where you can find stuff such as fashionable fashion store, delicious and traditional Korean food, and latest gadget and lifestyle products.

South Korea Busan Trip Day 1

Hello Everyone! I am back from my fantastic Korea trip! My first time visiting South Korea!! First of all, I would like to thank Korea Tourism Organization (KTO Singapore) for the sponsored trip to 4 different part of South Korea; Busan, Tongyeong, Suncheon and Seoul. And also introduce my awesome travel buddy… Nchynich! Yes! We travel together again! Thank for pairing us up! Haha… and also not to forget our friendly trip advisor’s Grace Lee, who have been taking care of us during the long trip in Korea. Alright, without further do, let me show you my adventurer journey in Korea. Here how my trip goes…

Nchy and I met up at the Singapore International Airport on the last Thursday night and we took a midnight flight by Asiana Airlines to Incheon International Airport. We reached South Korea about 6.30am morning, checking-out and proceed to buy a SIM card from S Roaming.

Next, we moved on to purchase an Airport Express (AREX) ticket from the airport to Seoul. The ticket cost at 8000KRW. For your more info, from the Airport travel to Seoul Station by AREX is about 45 minutes. On the way, you will see beautiful urban and rural landscape scenery.

After 45 minutes ride, we had reached the Korail Airport Railroad Seoul Station & Terminal. We collected our KTX tickets arranged by KTO and proceed on to the next path of our tour. Yes! We headed off to Busan, the second largest city in South Korea. The journey from Seoul station KTX to Busan station is about 2 hours and inside the train, there is Wi-Fi available!

Strong connection of Wi-Fi inside the train able me to update Facebook, Twitter, Blog and read news on my iphone5 and Microsoft Surface RT!

We took a cab from Busan station to Haeundae Centum Hotel for check-in. Hence, if you are taking subway from Busan Station, you need to transfer at Seomyeon station (Line 2, Jangsan Bound) then to Centum City Station.

First day! As according to our itinerary, we took a cab from our hotel to our first tourist attraction destination – Igidae Park, a nature park for people to sightseeing. Due to time constraint, we didn’t manage to walk through the whole Igiade Park but still manage to capture stunning sunset moment.

Lastly, we went for a 10000KRW bus ride (City Tour Busan) to explore the night attraction of Busan City. The areas as the bus tour had covered were Busan Station, Gwangalli, Haeundae, Dalmaji Hill, Gwangan Bridge and Mt Geumryeonsan.

Call it a day for our South Korea Day 1 Trip in Busan. Mummy Secrets of the Tomb Exhibition at ArtScience Museum

ArtScience Museum™ at Marina Bay Sands has partnered with The British Musuem to bring Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb to Southeast Asia for the first time. The exhibition is designed to engage visitors of all ages and only available to visitors of Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb during its Singapore stay and it will run from 27 April 2013 to 4 November 2013.
