He’s an absolutely hilarious and smart crazy man, and my husband and I surely got a big dose of the healing power of laughter (my ribs still hurt, and what a pleasure to be in a smoke-free environment). 

Mencia put our country’s financial crisis in a new light (not particularly the lighter side, but new perspective). His schtick, in its own way, was almost reassuring that we’re all in this together, and we can get through it. His underlying message, for the inebriated people there who missed it, was that we are Americans and we can change (for the better) if we pull together.

Of course, Mencia’s gift of colorful language precludes me from even paraphrasing his commentary on bailout funds, AIG, mortgage loans, and people who signed mortgage contracts (”read the bleeping contract”), but suffice to say it was fun to get away from the dreary newspaper, turn off the cable news chatter, and laugh.
