We will be at the West Glen Farmers Market in West Des Moines tomorrow from 10-2! Come find us right in front of Caribou Coffee. We will have some fresh cut flowers as well as flowering hanging baskets. Hope the weather cooperates!

Downtown Des Moines Farmers’ Market starts May 1st! We will be there again, same spot as last year. On Court Ave, between 2nd and 3rd. We will have lots of asparagus and also rhubarb! We’ll have rhubarb plants too, if you are interested in those. Also some hanging baskets and heirloom veggie plants. The market is open from 7-noon. It looks like a beautiful day so come say hi!

Asparagus is ready!!!

Stop by the farm this weekend, our home-grown asparagus is ready for you to pick up! $3 will get you a pound of some of the best asparagus you have ever tasted! We also have some asparagus crowns and strawberry plants ready to be planted, so come check those out along with all the other great plants in our overflowing greenhouses. The weather this weekend looks like perfect spring weather, so stop on out!

I never thought spring would get here, did you? But finally here it is, complete with springtime rain and thunderstorms!

Spring means we are very busy at the farm. We have three greenhouses packed with annuals, perennials, grasses, shrubs and vegetable plants. New this year, we are proud to feature Burpee vegetable plants, along with heirloom tomatoes and other heirloom vegetable seeds.

We want to be your full-service garden center this year, so we have more tools than ever before to help you. Garden gloves, clippers, fertilizer, soil–everything you need to create your landscaping masterpiece! Stop in and let us get you started!

You know, there are only so many hours in the day. About a year ago, we added the blog to our website with the intention of sharing with everyone all the exciting things going on at the farm.

But life on the farm has just been too exciting! We just haven’t had time to tell you about it.

Spring Flowers, Asparagus at Howells Farm

Start checking our web site around April 15 to see when our asparagus is ready- the first, and for many, the favorite vegetable of the year!

Then mark you calendar for our big Spring Open House on May 9th.
