White House chefs cook them “mean waffles and grits,” she says. “We have dinner as a family together every night, and Barack, when he’s not travelling, tucks the girls in,” she tells People.

“We haven’t had that time together for [years], so that explains a lot why we all feel so good in this space.” But, she adds of their 16-year union: “I don’t want anybody to think it’s that easy. It works because we really work at it. ... We have a strong marriage, but it’s not perfect.”

Michelle also gives People the scoop on the First Dog's arrival. The family plans to get their Portuguese Water Dog in April, after a family spring break trip. But they haven't decided on a name. "Oh, the names are really bad," Mrs. O. says with a laugh. "You listen and you go – like, I think, Frank was one of them. Frank! Moose was another one of them. Moose. I said, well, what if the dog isn't a moose? Moose. I'm like, no, come on, let's work with the names a little bit."

The most important thing you can ever do to your wife

This is the most important thing a married man or woman can do.

BE TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY HONEST.

If you can't do this then you shouldn't be married. You shouldn't even talk.

Start today.
