Hovercraft Construction From 2008.

All Hov Pod hovercraft will be constructed from High Density PE, same material as used for F1 race crash barriers. The Hov Pod SPX offers unique properties; the material is far stronger than glass fibre, and is very buoyant.

This hovercraft is very easy to tow.

Rescue organisations have told us that large commercial hovercraft have required very expensive transporters and police escorts to get to emergency situations along narrow roads! Needless to say, emergency rescue situations require fast response. The Hov Pod SPX trailer allows the hovercraft to be loaded by one man in under 2 minutes.

The Hov Pod was first introduced in 2002.

We designed the Hov Pod to be durable, safe, and suitable for the marine environment. Our product design has proven to be very successful, we now export over 85% of our products through our growing network of dealers. In 2008 we introduced the unique SPX model, manufactured from High Density Polyethylene. This material is lightweight yet very strong and exceptionally buoyant.

Hov Pods are used for leisure, rescue, patrol and commercial applications - we believe we sell more small leisure hovercraft than any other manufacturer, due to our unique design and capacity to manufacture hulls faster than any other supplier.

Introduction
Until now, hovercraft have tended to be backyard vehicles or supplied in kit form, designed by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. Our design approach has been to take a 20th century invention, and create a 21st century vehicle, designed for the demands of the marine leisure market.

When we introduced Hov Pod to the leisure market, we realised that consumers would compare our product to other marine products available and may ask themselves why they should choose our product over another. Quality
Components: To ensure the highest levels of quality, we have selected components manufactured by long established companies. This ensures that the latest manufacturing techniques and quality standards are adhered to in the component production and design.

Hull Manufacture: The manufacture of the hull is sub-contracted to experts in GRP and composite boat manufacture. Their 25+ years experience in boat manufacture ensure that the Hov Pod hull construction is manufactured to the very highest standards required for marine usage. The hull manufacture takes place in a temperature controlled environment using logged batch Scott Bader materials.

Assembly: Assembly of the Hov Pod takes place in using a controlled, repeatable process production line system. Quality control is built into every stage of production. Our objective, through attention to detail, is complete customer satisfaction; and we achieve this by adhering to our company wide ethos to create world class products that every member of our company can be proud of.

Customer Satisfaction: Our commitment to quality at every stage of the Hov Pod design and production ensures that customers do not experience long-term problems such as improper curing, softness, poor mechanical properties, shrinkage, and discoloration. Manufacture of any glass fibre object other than by experts, or in a fast uncontrolled manner can lead to poor fibre/resin ratio leading to poor impact strength, soft spots, cracks, and easy surface chipping. Long-term problems with poor GRP construction can include de-lamination that can lead to severe weakening of the moulding. Other problems that can occur over time include surface bubbling and blisters, crazing, cracks, hard points, voids and a general poor finish. Time and energy invested at the design and manufacturing stage ensure that the Hov Pod is built to last and give our customers complete satisfaction.

No other vehicle has the versatility of a hovercraft, and this one is so delectably neat.

Powered by a two cylinder 2-Stroke 625cc engine, it'll reach speeds of between 40-45mph, and can carry a payload of 250kilos (i.e. about three adults). A full tank will give you about 2 hours at cruise speed, and it's as economical to run as a 50HP 2-stroke boat engine. Now you can nip to secluded beaches, and indeed onto them, with ease - hey how excellent would this be hanging off the back of your yacht! Now mariners need never be slaves to the tides, and imagine if you lived somewhere icy - going over iced lakes in this would be like dying and going to heaven (albeit a very cold one).

So you now can stop doing press-ups and lying under a sunlamp - for a smidge under 15,000 you'll have all the pulling power you need.

The Hov Pod is manufactured in Southampton, England, by Reaction International Ltd. Company founder and Managing Director Peter Ward, established the company in the year 2000. As a marine engineer Peter travelled to many exotic destinations and pondered on the question, "Why has no one exploited hovercraft technology for the marine leisure industry?" After a number of years market research, he concluded that although there were many kit built and racing craft available, no one had designed a craft to meet the exacting standards demanded by the marine leisure market. Marine leisure buyers demand safety, ease of use, durability, reliability, and expect a dealer network capable of providing on-going sales and technical support.

The personal watercraft market is huge by comparison to hovercraft. Peter set out to design a craft capable of addressing all of the known problems associated with hovercraft, for example, the perception that all hovercraft are noisy, difficult to control, are known to stop suddenly on water, (known as ploughing in), and when they do stop on water, occasionally sink! Not only would his design need to overcome these problems to meet safety standards, he also wanted the craft to look as good as personal watercraft. To reach this aim, he contracted out manufacture of specialist GRP (Glass Fibre) construction to specialist top quality boat manufacturers. By September 2002, the first craft were ready for launch at the Southampton International Boat Show, and took the world by storm.

Television companies lined up to conduct interviews and test drive the Hov Pod, and queues formed as hundreds of people wished to experience the Hov Pod ride. Leading magazines and National newspapers began to feature the Hov Pod. Film companies featured the Hov Pod in science fiction and adventure movies, TV footage was syndicated around the world. Reaction International Ltd are now busy building an international network of dealers to provide sales and technical support, and have received orders from as far away as Australia, South Africa and the Middle East. The Hov Pod is testimony to the fact that if you can invent or develop a new product that fits a niche market, the world will beat a path to your door, evident by the growing demand of export orders received by the company.
