This hotel lodge is in a fantastic location to local markets, big shopping malls (Central World, MBK) and BTS Skytrain. The Hotel rooms are basic and a bit shabby but functional all the same. It is clean and the staff were smiling and friendly. Something hard to find nowadays in many Bangkok hotels I have stayed in. by L Trew from Australia

"The Vaboir was a nice find. Pros: large room (the suite rate was too good to pass up), friendly staff, inexpensive in-room internet, close to Survarnabhumi Airport and the Ramkhamhaeng area. Cons: the bathroom is Thai wet room style, no nearby access to the Skytrain or subway, internet is not wifi (the hotel supplies an ethernet cable). The restaurant is good and reasonable, and there are some nice Thai restaurants within walking distance. Considering the room rates, it would be hard to find a better value in Bangkok."

"I have been travelling to Thailand and particular, Pattaya for the past twelve years now. I have stayed at many hotels all over Thailand including the Marriot and the Hard Rock in Pattaya. They are great hotels but come with a price, the Flipper Lodge on the other hand is a great hotel and I have a lot more spending money when staying here as the rates are a quarter of the five star hotels."
This hotel takes some beating for location. Soi8 is a great road to party on and The Flipper is a really great hotel. We opted for the renovated rooms @ £25 per night which were very clean, and large. Standard mini bar, great showers.

Nicely located at the north end of Pattaya, very close to the beach and some quality restaurants nearby within easy walking distance. Found our room very clean, the staff always greeted us with a smile and very helpful and respectful. NO cockroaches, ants, etc. Construction at the hotel next door has been completed so no noise distraction or dust problem. Nice balcony to relax on. Very nice swimming pool. Didn't notice a breakfast buffet but the 60 baht breakfast was a good deal. Some great shopping venues only a short baht bus trip from this hotel. If driving, parking available under the hotel. Rooms very economically priced from 1000 baht. We stayed in the larger 1200 baht room. Hotel also has two-bedroom family rooms available for 2400 baht. Will be staying at this hotel again."The hotel is as clean as can be, staff are friendly and meals in the restaurant are reasonable, including the American Breakfast at 55 thai baht. The downside is that a new 7 storey hotel is being built in the adjacent lot, consequently the swimming pool is full of dust and gets sunshine for only about 10 mins per day, around noon."

"I booked at short notice so would have got a better rate than 1800 baht per night had I booked in advance. It is situated in a quiet soi away from the hustle and bustle, they have a car park in the basement, and it is only a short stroll down to the beach. The main night-life areas are not too far away; a leisurely walk or you can grab one of the songthaews for only a few baht. "This hotel is good, actually. But, the travel agent nearest of this hotel(about 10m) taking a fraud. This agent is not connecting with the hotel. Don't use this agent even if you are asked to use here by clerks.Reception and rooms are far. To get to the rooms from the reception needs to climb a short sort of steep hill. The rooms are basically clean but the standard room I stayed in face a wall. No views of the sea. Toilets are clean but very slippery. The shower curtains railing fell down and i found out this is because the railings are not drilled to the wall. Getting to the beach is about a 10-15 minutes walk down the hill and getting back will be a longer walk because of the walk up the hill. "

A few minor setback was bathroom is small and no bath tub. Door can not be locked properly. Air con was noisy and not reliable. One night I have to call the engineer for filling the Gas for Air Con. Otherwise it was not working. One day, house keeping staff did not supply me bath foam. After calling the reception, they promptly came and supplied the bath foam. They only forgot once.It has swimming pool for swimming. Buffey breakfast were geneous with most of the staff are friendly. Overall It is not a Hitlon, Sheraton or Hyatt. It is not a back packers hostel either. I am pleased with the most service I received for. Superior room quality is not too great although it is reasonable."by FlyFalcon

We stayed there one week in the end of November.First of all I have to tell to those who are afraid of cockroaches, that right in the first evening of our stay, a big cockroach appeared just all of a sudden from nowhere (or from the wardrobe, I didn’t have time to notice). It was running pretty fast towards me and scared me to the death! I have to say that I just hate cockroaches! Even after my husband killed it, I couldn’t stop thinking if there were other cockroaches in the room. We found this hotel lodge to be just about perfect. We only stayed for three nights and wished we could have stayed longer!! It is romantic and perfect for couples who want privacy in a fantastic setting. Staff are very helpful and the owners are great. No complaints at all. The food is delicious with good variety - a bit on the expensive side but they do have to ship everything in. The setting is spectacular - on the beach and this hotel lodge is remarkable for all of the things it does right. The bar/lounge area is comfortable, the music unobtrusive and great. There are even four rescued dogs that are part of the family - they're lazing during the day and add to the overall character. The rooms/cabins are spectacular. Built with warm wood, a spacious porch with a hammock. The owner is helpful, explains things, helps arrange scooters and so on but is otherwise unobtrusive. The first ten or so pictures don't do it justice so we're adding a few. It's very romantic and great for couples. When we were there a few families stayed at the hotel as well and never bothered a soul. This hotel lodge is highly recommended. It may not be for people who are active as there is little to do on the island. We rented a scooter and drove it to the town and around. But it is a welcome get away from the crowded towns and tourist island in Thailand. The pool is nice. The hotel lodge is so small that even if it were full it still wouldn't feel crowded.by philo04

My wife and l stayed here for 3 nights in april. Had a huge one bedroom suite with a lovely balcony. Staff were all great and very helpful.Very good breakfast could have what ever you wanted hot or cold and super cakes and pastrys.The swimming pool really is huge and when we were there the hotel was very quiet and we had the pool almost to our selves.The only thing we did not really like was the bar which seamed to lack any atmosphere which was not helped by the karaoke singer something you do not expect in a 5 star hotel ! so we walked up the road about 10 minutes and found a great place called Mothers House which did great food and had a lovely vibe highly recomened and if ask hotel to ring them they will send a car to pick you up for free.All in agreat hotel with fantastic pool but lacking much atmosphere.

Once upon a time in Krabi Town, a person would holler, or whistle, or maybe stomp his feet, and an elephant would come lumbering toward him, the driver astride his neck. Mr. Elephant would kneel on his front legs and the passenger would climb aboard. "Phuket!" He would say, and off they would go at the sub-breakneck speed of two miles an hour. Things have changed.
Today, you can still ride on an elephant, but taxis and rental cars will get you there faster. River taxis, too. Taxis come in the form of cars, trucks, and motorcycles, so it's your choice how you want to go... for a ride, that is. Fares are reasonably priced according to your destination.
Being a port town, Krabi also has "longtail" boat river taxis available at the Chao Fah Pier. They serve the islands and beaches. There are also ferry services that serve farther island destinations. A number of these river taxi services do not operate during monsoon season, which runs from May to October. In their stead, a combined bus/longtail boat service can be utilized. Private ferry transfers are also available.
Several car rental services (also called car hire or self-drive) are available. Reserve your car beforehand and save money and time.
