HWCM 4th Race Day - 18th December

Ok guys it's confirmed!

We are going to conduct HWCM's 4th Raceday on 18th December 2009. The theme shall be Street Race - it will be an open road race towards the end of the track. if your car gets knocked off the track, then you are out!

Date : 18th December 2009
Theme : Street Race
Mechanism : Three Sessions of KNOCK-OUT style Tournament with the winner of each race moving on to the next round. Participants must use HW cars according to the selected themes below:

Themes:
1st Race - Ferrari (Street Race)
2nd Race - HW Original designs (Street Race)
3rd Race - Japanese Imports! (Street Race)

Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for each session

If you haven't got any of those series, get hunting now!

Prizes are again sponsored by Mattel Malaysia. This time Mattel will also be providing some trick tracks for the children to play with while the race is on!

Additionally - The 8TV Quickie crew may be covering the event. I do not know who will be the host yet but i so hope that it will be Belinda!

A Very Cool Back Slider 2010

I reckon one of the surprises of 2010 is this back Slider. Nice look, practical moving slider and proportionately sized to carry even the longest cars in the Hot Wheels series.

As you can see, I have used the Buick 2008 T-Hunt, one of the longer cars out there and there is still a few mm to spare ... haha. Now that is practical especially when there are longer cars in the Hot Wheels world. A very cool casting. Keep it up, Mattel. This design is a keeper.

New Hot Wheels promotion at Tesco

Tesco has started a new promotion for Hot Wheels beginning 3 December 2009.

Basic line is at RM5.90.
Color Shifters is at RM9.90 (there is a new Dodge Viper).
Connect Cars is at RM9.90.
Ferrari Racers is at RM7.90.
Hot Wheels 5-pack is at RM19.90
plus several big discounts on track and play sets.

The offer for the Ferrari Racers and 5-pack is lowest seen so far this year. So don't delay and pay a visit to Tesco as soon as you can.

Custom HW '65 Volkswagen Fastback

HWCM customizer danielh has done it again. This time mesmerizing us with his customized '65 Volkswagen Fastback. The car had it's first casting just last year by Hot Wheels and other than the mail-in edition, there are no more variants. It is indeed very pleasing to see this highly sought-after car in other colours.

HWCM 3rd Race Day - Results!

The HWCM 3rd Race Day was conducted on 9th October successfully. We had a good turnout and 23 members participated in the race, more than previous race days. We extend our thanks to Mattel Malaysia for their sponsorship of the wonderful prizes and McDonald's drive-thru SS15 Subang Jaya for letting us hold the event there.

There will be a registration fee now of 1 carded car, can be a basic car or any other series.

Prizes will be given to 1st 2nd and 3rd places for each session(sponsored by mattel)

First few people to sign up will also receive a special prize specially given by mattel!

Latest TRU Promo

You've heard it and seen it here first! Yes, another Hot Wheels Promo with an even more attractive prize!

The good news is that TRUs around the country are all expected to restock. And sources say they HAVE! Not to worry about what waves they restocked though, it's definitely not Qombee waves.

I would very much like to get my hands on one of those display cases as it will be a very limited item in the future. From what I gather it's TRU exclusive! Meaning you will NOT be able to get it anywhere else..

Another important thing to note is that it comes with 30 cars from the 2009 line up.
The case is made out of real wood and perspecs. It can be mounted on your wall and the rear reflective panel slides up to allow you to place your cars inside.

This promo runs for 2 months, so let's see who can grab that case by that time!

Although the target market for the contest is chilren, there is no doubt that even adult collectors will be gunning for some of those 2009 basic cars!

It's a great initiative by mattel to get their stocks moving faster. There are more promos like this to come! I believe that your cries for better stock movement and more waves have been heard.

Swap-Meet session at Central Park One Utama (30th May 2009)

We just had our very first swap meet session in conjunction with the K-Zone 4th Birthday Bash!

The day was full of excitement as kids and adults alike crowded around the Hot Wheels booth to swap cars with us!

We also had another booth set up behind us filled with track sets for kids to play with!

We had more than 150 cars laid out on the tables and all of them were up for grabs! All you had to do was to give us one of your Hot Wheels for one of our Hot Wheels.

As the day progressed we started seeing more children swapping their cars than adults. It was great to see that these kids really knew their cars.

Among the request from the kids were :
-is there any t-hunt?
-do u have any skyline?

and my personal favorite.
-do u have any toyota AE86?

many of these kids walked away with thunts and other cool models such as skylines, mitsubishi lancers and aston martin v8 vantages! there was a surprisingly high demand for blimps and planes too.

The objective of the swap meet was to educate young collectors as well as their parents about collecting hot wheels. Some parents came from far with their kids jus for this swap meet! they wud bring along a huge bag of Hot Wheels with them. The was one boy who brought 2 hot boxes filled with Hot Wheels!

It was a fun experience and i wish to see more of these events happening in the near future. I believe that most of our collectors here in HWCM have children and will enjoy more of these type of events where their kids get to be involved in the 'art of collecting'.
