But before we get into that let me give you a little update. Other than my schoolwork, things have been quite slow around here. I got my lights back on Sunday and then on Friday had another turn off because of a storm. Streets were completely flooded and it was horrible, luckily it wasn’t by my place… I think it’s one of the perk of living on top a hill and in the middle of a forest (the forest thing is loosely used a lot, I don’t really live in the middle of the woods, my neighborhood is located where a forest used to be and there’s still a bit of forest around, along with some raccoons). Anywhoo apart from the lack of electricity and general homework I’ve been fine n_n.

So, yesterday we all gathered at Shana Pol’s for a costume party!!!

Here’s what I wore:

• Sequined dress from eBay
• Black opaque ripped tights
• H&M boots
• Loads of necklaces and bangles

I was supposed to be Effy Stonem from Skins, I don’t know if I got it quite right… anyways I loooved my make up.

I used this YouTube tutorial to do it because, let’s face it, I’m not good with make up at all .

I made my way to Shana Pol’s armed with soda and without my trusty “drug vial” T_T. I got there and saw:

Nacho and GeNmA HAAAD to be the ones that repeated costumes, how random is that? I mean, it’s common to see two Jokers and two MJs but two Abbaths?? Only these two, I swear XDDD. I liked GeNmA’s wig and Nacho’s make up XDD.

Right now, I’m typing this from my local Starbucks, I’m sipping my white mocha coffee and watching all the people around me. Some come for the coffee only, others come to chat with their friends, others read book and other, like me, came here to get some internet connection because their electricity has been cut off since yesterday. Yep, that’s right, my house has been void of electricity since yesterday at 7pm, right now it’s 11:30am, that’s like 16-something hours… I think. The worst thing is that the internet connection here is failing and that means that I can’t finish my E-commerce homework, I really don’t think that I’ll be able to finish it by tomorrow… I think that I’ll have to miss my first class to finish it and print it.

I just called the electric company and they told me that they would have to re-install a bunch of things and that we would be electricity-less for another few hours. This is absolutely frustrating!!! I’m sorry but I need electricity to work, without that I can’t use my internet connection and I NEED INTERNET (#internetnecesario). It seems that Starbucks will be my new hang out until I get electricity back home. I’m not complaining… I’m actually more productive here than at home. I’m putting it on the lack of Mexico’s Next Top Model XD.

Talking about Mexico’s Next Top Model… I like it! I mean the girls are not as model-esque to the rest of the world but they are just another kind of beauty. My favourites are: Paulina and Nohemí, I like Andrea but her attitude sucks, her pictures are awesome. My favourite cast member is Oscar, he’s like MxNTM’s Mr. Jay and Jo Lance, Miss J, is awesome too. Ok ok ok, I’ll stop talking about it.

I guess that I’ll make most of my time and start making my little spider, you’ve already seen the medium spider, now I have to make a little one. It needs to look friendly and cute… at least I think so. that reminds me that I need to send a very important email. It’ll have to wait until I get a connection though :/.

Ugh… I just realized that there is no 3G connection either!! Just GSM!! I can’t even tweet from my cell phone!! Argh, I’m so angry, really… and sad T_T.

Wow, I still have coffee and I’ve been like 2 hours here already! I finished my viewport practice! YAY!!

I’ve been failing miserably at my 365s, my sister likes to kidnap my camera and I really don’t like to post cell phone pictures. Don’t get me wrong, I loooove Jasper but his pictures suck! Thanks why I have a camera but my sister likes to kidnap it. For example, she took it away yesterday because she’s at a wedding in Cuernavaca. My sister goes to a lot of weddings. All her friends are getting married. I can’t picture myself going to my friends’ weddings, that’ll mean that we are really grown up and I don’t really want to grow up yet.

On Friday was Rosma’s birthday party. Rosma is one of my best friends from high school, like Arely! She turned 22 and I convinced my sister to get me to the party, mainly because I really don’t like to drive at night and because I really like to have drinks at parties and cabs are very expensive here. Arely has all the pictures so I’ll make a proper post about it when I have them. I had a really good time hanging out with Arely and Rosma. I also woe a very pretty dress that everyone loved! The only bad thing about it: I can’t bend at the waist with it, well I can but I’ll flash everyone if I do and we certainly DON’T WANT THAT!

What else can I tell you? Oh yeah, a dude told me that he had a dream about me… then said that he wouldn’t tell me what it was exactly because he wants it to come true… o_O WTF?

C and I have an expo with a weird dude, that dude says that I’m like a firewall because I’m mean T_T, I’m not mean… well at least not all the time… I’m really nervous, I swear that he doesn’t belong to this world, I bet anything that he’s an Aquarius. If he messes this up then he is going to meet diabolical!Julie.

Ok, if you are middle-aged and want to dress like a 20 year old then don’t mix your outfit with mumsy hair and make up… makes you look old and ridiculous… just my two cents…

Well, it’s 12:44 pm. Still no internet at Starbucks. I did manage to finish my little spider and now am trying to figure out how to make it move. That’s the hardest part for me… moving things.

So far 4 people looking for internet have come and gone. All of them had some type of work to do… I guess that I’m trusting Starbucks more than I should. Maybe I should go to Sanborn’s and try my luck there. I really need to get cracking on my  Vidal practice, I don’t think it’ll take long to do.

I’m people watching. Right now I just saw a woman wearing snake print leggings. Not a good look, at least her hair and make up wasn’t mumsy , still not a look that I’d like to see on a woman her age. There’s a group of young girls, one of them has all the emo look going, the other has a more biker vibe and the last one is all cute and sailor-y. They look pretty but it really is an odd bunch. I remember when Arely and I used to go to Starbucks every Friday and the countless hours we spent studying together there.

My battery is almost charged, as son as it is at 100%, I’m leaving for greener pastures, namely somewhere with internet. Or at least somewhere where my cell phone gets 3G network…

Andy is a 25 year-old fashion stylist and designer who lives in Amsterdam. Originally from Mexico, she is a self-proclaimed Fashion Junkie with a style to back it up. Needless to say, she’s my new fashion icon, plus she wears a lot of affordable things and makes a lot of her own clothing. Did I mention that ELLE.es asked her to blog for them?

I like how she mixes and matches all her clothing. Right now she’s very into Balmain’s Power Shoulder and wears them a lot. She also wears a lot of short skirts and dresses to showcase those amazing legs of hers. I think her style is simple, sleek and chic.

What’s on your playlist?

I’ve been extremely busy with college. As you know, I’m taking 7 subjects plus thesis plus social service plus scholarship service. So yeah, I’m busy and overwhelmed 90% of my time.

First homework. Like seriously, everyone left me a lot of homework to do, as if they just got together and decided to screw us with homework on the same week. What’s the deal with that? (BTW, it’s also my fault for not being organized at all and leaving everything for last minute).

Then exams. I’ve been having my first partials for like the last 3 weeks (in my college we have first partial, second partial and finals). I’m not doing very good T_T. That’s really bad, I really don’t want my average (GPA) to suffer. I have two other exams and some other programs to make. I’m having so much trouble with programming lately.

Finally, thesis. We spent the last week preparing the document and getting everything ready. On Tuesday, we had our presentation and evaluation. We did good but we could have done better. Still we got an awesome grade and some observations to make our software better.

Yesterday was Día OV at college. It’s the day where high school students come over and they get to have a glimpse of what the majors have to offer and they get to talk to us and just get a feel of what it will be like when they get to college. Originally, I was going to go early to attend a Drupal workshop and study for my exam but in the end I was staff and got a bunch of cool stuff XD. It was fun, Alekz gave a lecture and a workshop and we got free 4GB USBs. I also ate a lot of sushi, the best Mexicanized sushi ever!!! It was surimi, cucumber and cream cheese with chipotle. It is called Acapulco and oh so goood!!

I also got a bit of eBay addiction. I started small, just buying silicone cases for Eric (my iPod Touch) and Jasper (my BlackJack II) then I started buying dresses and hoodies and am on the lookout for the perfect leather/liquid leggings. I’m still missing the leggings but I’ve made a dent on my savings which is not good at all T_T. I’m trying to control myself but with things THAT cheap and free shipping, it’s very hard :/.

I’ve also become addicted to iPhone/iPod Touch Apps. I haven’t bought many (just two: Emoji and Knights both for $20 MXN), but I really like Apps from my favourite websites and social networkng sites like: MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, LiveJournal, Style.com, WhoWhatWear and so on.

Here are some sites that I think really need iPhone Apps or at least mobile versions of their websites. Mainly because they are blocked at college and I can’t see them on my cell phone:

Well, the others just left my mind but those four are the ones that I frequent the most. I want to make and iPhone App for Hot Mess (just to see if I can) but I like the MacBook to make it. Maybe if I use VirtualBox and Mac OS… I’ll have to look into it.

I’m going now. I’m studying ACLs and VLANs while watching the Sortilegio finale, then Love Actually and bed.

P.S.: I hate that the eBay App is not available on the Mexico App Store ¬¬.

Yesterday was Shana Pol’s 22nd b-day. To celebrate, he gathered us all at the Irish Pub on Masaryk St.

My sister picked me up at 9 to take me over to Polanco to go to the Irish Pub. I got a little lost on the way so I called Shana Pol and he gave me directions which got us really fast there. We also agreed to go to American Apparel over the next few weeks to buy some stuff. My sister has never been to one and her BF and I love that store.

When I entered the Irish Pub, I immediately spotted Alekz and headed over to the table and said hi to: Shana Pol, Marce, Alekz, Javi, Hazard, GeNmA, and Largo. Well, here are some pretty pictures n_n:

As you can see, my perfect hair ended curly, I was a little drunk but I had a lot of fun!!! We sang together to System of a Down (quite badly) TWICE! Then Marce and Pavo took a picture with the old guy from the band that was playing.

I was really sad when my sister called to pick me up T_T.

After I took these pictures I tried to tame my hair to no avail. So I decided to flat iron my fringe/bangs and make a bun out of French braids (sounds better than it looks). It looks good. It’s been ages since I’ve had my hair up, pics as soon as I get home (namely 11pm).

I just had my Graphics exam. Some of the questions were confusing but I hope I got right most of them.

Yesterday, my sister and I went to our friend’s wedding. We went with dates and had an awesome time eating away and dancing. I ended up with horrible and painful blisters on my feet from all the dancing but damn it I had an awesome time. Dearest, my date for the night, knows how to dance every genre XDD. It was so fun! I love men who can dance.

This is what I wore:

• Silver Zara Dress (which my mum fixed to fit me perfectly)

• Black string of plastic pearls from Todo Moda
• Silver ring from my sister

My sister ended up wearing a dress very similar to mine and then we whined about it before leaving the house.

A sequined fedora!

It is from Zara (TRF section) and it was $199 pesos (less than $20 USD). It is so Michael Jackson, I love it. I wore it right out of the store and everyone turned to look at me. It was fun.

We went to Mango where my sister got a clutch purse and I tried on a dress:

It was sequined, short and fitted me like a glove. It was a dress made for me. Too bad it was $1,800 (like $150 USD, more or less). With some black opaque tights and my Steven Madden ankle boots I could totally rock this dress.

How was your weekend?

The first one was Jasper (my cell phone, a Samsung BlackJack II), who arrived on July and the second one is Eric.

Eric is my beloved, shiny and new iPod Touch! He’s named after Eric Northman from True Blood (who is a hot as hell, Swedish vampire played by the equally hot as hell, Swedish Alexander Skarsgard).

So how did I do it?

Easy, Daddy did it. I know, I know, I sound like a spoiled little brat when I say it like that. But let me tell you the whole story…

My beloved iPod Shuffle (2nd generation) AKA El Santo and I had a very strong bond. He was with me the first time I drove by myself (to Rgn Grg’s house) and we were very close. He knew everything about how I liked to listen to my tunes and with a 3GB music library I really didn’t need more than it’s 1GB storage space. Then one day, I left El Santo inside my jacket and my mum decided to wash said jacket (that’s one of the things that suck when you still live with the rents anyhoo). Yep, El Santo drowned and after 4 months of being iPod-less and several MP3 CDs later, I finally found iPods on sale (you know, because the new iPod with useless video cameras are out now) but didn’t make much of it. After all, we don’t have a lot of cash kicking around and I don’t work so I depend on my parents 100%.

Meanwhile my sister decided to put up a company (Sleek Promotion – still in construction) and “hired” me without pay to code it. I coded something really fast with the products we had and then she decided to change the entire catalog and a whole lot of mess ensured. Then I started college again (thesis, social service and classes), and I didn’t have much time to finish the webpage (which I’m going to finish because it’s going to be my final project for my e-commerce class). My sister started yelling at me for not working and I told her that I would feel obliged to work if I actually got paid (not much), so Daddy stepped in and said that he would get me the iPod as a 50% payment if I got the catalog up and running within the first 2 weeks after getting it in my hands. I said yes (after all the thing is coded, I just need to get the database running how I like it and tweek some things) and on Wednesday I went to the Apple Store and got it.
