Words could not express the sorrow I felt when I could not attend 1,2,3’s show at the Brooklyn Bowl this past Wednesday because the venue was 21 and over. This completely surpassed my past feeling of aggravation towards 1,2,3 for the impossible task of searching their name into any search engine as results consisted of children’s songs.

Aunt Martha: La La Lonesome EP

Aunt Martha recorded this EP in 2011 while on tour in motel rooms. MOTEL ROOMS. Give the EP a listen and you will feel your jaw drop. The quality in these songs is completely unexpected for something recorded in a motel room. Much more subdued than their Norway, ME release but that's probably from trying to keep the noise level to a minimum for other guests.

Barcelona: “Slipping Away”

This video already has thousands of views and I probably added a couple hundred to the count. "Slipping Away" is the first single off of Barcelona's new upcoming album, Not Quite Yours, and I hope it's a strong indicator of how the album will sound. "Slipping Away" is a great song. Spend 4 minutes listening to it and you'll be on the bandwagon in no time.

Dear Lions: “Out of Body”

Never has a song title been more accurate. “Out of Body” makes me feel just that; it gives me an out of body experience. The first 10 seconds of the song puts me into a trance. Listening to “Out of Body” made me feel like I was a snake in a basket reaching out to the hypnotizing snake charmer sounds of Dear Lions. They were the snake charmer but instead of turbans, long white hair, and bead necklaces, they had guitars and drums. Pushing me out of my basket with their luscious vocals and melodies but I was an eager participant.

Hopeless Thunder Casts Catching Fire, Hunger Games Sequel

The Hunger Games was in no surprise a huge hit when it premiered in theaters this past March. With it being a huge success, the release date of November 2013 has already been revealed for the sequel, Catching Fire. With negotiations going on with Gary Ross over directing the sequel going on, the casting directors are probably trying to find the best talent to grace the new characters that appear in Catching Fire. Everyone’s been voicing who they want in the second installment so why not give my two cents as well? If you agree to any of my castings, voice your opinion! Because I’d love to say I was the one who proposed that actor for the role first.

Paradise Fears: “Call Me Maybe” Cover

Ever since my first listen of Paradise Fears, I've been in love with the band. The band recently made a cover of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe." They successfully made it their own with additions of strings and piano. I rarely listen to songs on the radio so if I had heard the original version first, I probably would have written this song off. But this Paradise Fears cover is so well done and different from the original. Sam Miller's voice lulls me into my happy place.

Degrassi’s Luke Bilyk Interview

Life at Degrassi has never been boring; unless you count the “two hours of tutoring” Luke Bilyk has to do every day. Luke or otherwise known as Drew Torres on TeenNick’s Degrassi has been living his own high school experience away from a real high school. A never ending series of trouble has always followed each character on the show and Luke’s character has been of no exception.

Seapony: “Dreaming”

I felt triumphant, like I’d won my country a gold medal at the Olympics. I was standing on top of the podium holding my fist in the air because I had won against all odds. I had won against the dangerous allure of the fashion world and found Seapony. To my delight, Seapony had a full length album out and I had won again.

Ariana Grande: “Put Your Hearts Up”

As I began to write about Ariana Grande, currently known as Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon’s Victorious, I looked up and she happened to be on my TV. I watched for a second and she was playing with a puppy, adorable but all I thought in that moment was how much I wanted the karaoke episode to be on. The one where Ariana belts out with her costar Elizabeth Gillies. I go back to that episode in my mind sometimes; it lifts me up into a state of pure bliss. Ariana’s vocals have this ability to carry you from the darkest of places into a euphoric trance. I find myself wishing that that episode were on whenever I see Victorious on TV nowadays. It has struck a chord in me and I don’t think it will ever stop resonating.
