Learning in a stained glass class will save you a lot of time and grief that you would encounter if you were self-taught. You will learn the basic techniques for scoring, breaking, grinding and leading stained glass. You will also learn about the basic tools necessary to complete a stained glass project.

In your stained glass class, you will learn how to select stained glass for your projects. You will learn about different types, textures and colors of stained glass and how to optimize the use of colors in your design.

You might not create your own design for your first project. You will probably do a simple stained glass suncatcher from a pattern. Depending on the length of your stained glass class, you might also make a small stained glass panel.

You will begin by choosing glass for your stained glass project. You will learn the appropriate way to hold a scoring tool and then how to break the scored glass with your hands, groziers, or running pliers (for straight lines). You'll be taught that scoring is done on the smoother side of the stained glass.

To successfully break the stained glass, you will learn how to score straight lines, inside curves and outside curves. Your experienced teacher will be able to show you tricks that will make these easier to do and which tools work best. He/she should have different styles of tools for you to try out so that you can choose what works best for you.

You will also learn how to use a glass grinder so that you can smooth the edges of the stained glass and make adjustments so that the pieces will fit the stained glass design. As you lay the pieces of glass on the pattern, you must leave just enough space between them to make up for the thickness of the lead came or copper foil that will be wrapped around them.

You will either learn the copper foil method of stained glass or the lead came method. You will learn how to wrap and burnish the stained glass edges with copper foil. Be patient, this will take practice. You will learn how to assemble your stained glass project using lead channels. You will learn how to use cutting tools in order for you to cut and fit the came so that your stained glass project will have smooth lines and joints.

You'll be shown different tools for wrapping foil; or, you might prefer to wrap by hand. Various burnishing tools are available. Try out different tools.

For the copper foil stained glass project, you will use flux to prepare the foil for applying solder to it. You will learn how to use a soldering iron and how to "tin" the foil by applying a flat coat of solder to all surfaces of the foil. Next, you will go back over it and apply a smooth, raised "bead" line.

In the lead came project you will learn how to solder the joints and fill the gap between the glass and lead with "putty." The next step you will learn is how to add a patina which will turn the solder black and makes the colors of the stained glass pop out.

After you have framed the project, finally, you will learn how to clean and polish your completed stained glass panel.

In simpler words it is an open roofed porch or gallery built around a building in the centre.

A Verandah, as per the Oxford English Dictionary is a word that originated in India and refers to the railings, balustrade or balconies. A verandah is a large balcony built on the ground floor and it is commonly known as barandah in Hindi and Bengali, two native Indian languages.

There is another surprising meaning in the Oxford English Dictionary, which means, Verandah is a covering built at the side of the building, particularly one built over the street outside the trading site found particularly in Australia and New Zealand. This is made to give protection more against the sun than the rain. The roof is either curved or sloped in structure.

Verandah thus is, an open porch extending in the front and the sides of a building, giving protection against the sun and the rain. The decisive origin of this word is most probably European or maybe Latin meaning barra-, which means barrier. In other words, a Verandah is that place in the house where the exterior part of the house meets with mother earth.

A Grande Style Verandah most definitely overlooks the lawn with plenty of greenery and privacy. Unlike other verandahs, which overlook the street or are exposed to constant glare of public the Grande Style Verandah is absolutely obsessed with the concept of privacy.

Privacy is of great importance to whoever gets this kind of a verandah built. The posts, rafters and railings all have simple dark coloured rectangular simple and elegant woodwork with no carving at all. There is a sense of uniformity in the shape of all the wooden beams.

A Grande Style Verandah is a typical place for one to relax, of being at home yet enjoying the beauty of the nature. It gives you a sense of serenity of being in the sun yet protected, being able to enjoy the sight of the trees with all the flora and fauna around it. It is a partly covered space where people can entertain, relax eat, drink be at home yet be very far from the maddening crowd.

While selecting a toddler rocking chair one of the most important criteria should be to look for some kind of safety objects which can help to keep your child in place and prevent him from falling off. These safety objects may come in the form of straps or seat belts, which secure your child with the back of the chair or smooth round bars in front of the child which can also be used to hold on to. Any materials used in making the chair such as the paint should be non toxic.

The toddler rocking chair can come quite handy from the mothers point of view as it keeps the child in place especially if he is of the adventurous kind. These rocking chairs are normally made of plastic and are sturdy enough withstand more than the weight of the child. It is normally made a point to keep the edges as smooth or blunt as possible to ensure that it does not cause any injury to the child. Most of the rocking chairs are also provided with a detachable table which is attached to the front of the chair just over the arm rests. This table can be used whenever the baby is playing with some objects or to keep any kind of solid food.

The babies certainly enjoy the rocking chairs as the rocking movement provides them with some much needed entertainment and fascination. The rocking chair imitates the action of a mother trying to soothe a crying child. The rocking chairs are available in a variety of shapes and sizes. The rocking horse is a favorite among the babies. The chairs are decorated with plenty of cartoon characters so that the child can relate to them as the ones he sees on the television. These chairs are made of bright and attractive colors like red, yellow or orange with are favorites with babies. Some of the chairs may even be made of wood. In such cases care should be taken so that no splinters are formed.

With a little imagination and some effort, you can create a great personalized look that will make your kitchen one of the best features in your home. Here are a few kitchen decorating ideas you can use to create a beautiful new space.

More than anything making the kitchen your own is at the top of the list. Don't be so concerned with the latest trends but what makes you feel good. The kitchen should be comfortable and functional and a place to show off your cooking skills (or lack of) to family and friends. Make the effort to find the kind of decoration or accent pieces that fit your own individual taste. If you are going for the country look or the shabby chic look, add lots of baskets to put dry flowers, plants or fresh cut flowers in. Also load your basket up with fruit for a walk by snack. Going modern means lots of stainless steel, sleek racks and decor's with clean lines.

Keep your kitchen cabinets fresh and flowing with the decor of your kitchen. Painting is an easy, inexpensive change or strip and varnish to match your kitchen's interior. Simple changes like replacing the cabinet handles or knobs makes a noticeable difference. Changing just the front of the cabinets with interior recessed lighting really updates the look. Consider too, changing out your appliances if need be. Another consideration is a hanging rack from the ceiling for utensils and pots. They add lots of interest to the kitchen and free up more cabinet space. Adding B board gives the kitchen a nostalgic kind of feel. If you feel your kitchen is the way you want it but still not completely satisfied with the overall look, change the flooring! Go from vinyl to hardwood, for warm ambiance or go with stone for the cozy old world feel.

Your flooring should always reflect the theme of your kitchen. If the idea of being outside cooking is more your thing, consider an outdoor kitchen. A well-designed outdoor kitchen can also be an added bonus for your home with hours of fun for family and friends. No more indoor messes! The animals and kids can have a blast being loud! If you need help with the design ideas of your outdoor kitchen, you can check out decorating magazines or certain home improvement stores. Don't have sticker shock when you read the price tag because the outdoor kitchen can come with some hefty prices. Shop around and also check out your friends or other family members outdoor kitchens. You can learn allot by picking their brains and finding out what obstacles you might face with this project.

If your budget is limited, start out with just purchasing your grill. Then as your budget allows, add other components to bring your outdoor kitchen space to life. There are plenty of inexpensive things to do such as adding flowers to your outdoor area, hanging lights to produce the restaurant look or adding outdoor furniture that blends in with the theme of your outdoor kitchen space. Just do as your budget allows, and in the meantime, enjoy nature's beauty and sounds.

These can include the welfare and comfort of your children, the support structure you'll have when you move (are you moving nearer your family, further away from your family?), ease of commute to your job, schools and more.

Children usually feel moves the most, as they often find it hard to settle into new environments and like, above all else, security, and safety. If the move is in relation to a family separation, it's important to include them in the process where at all possible, and ensure their voices are heard when picking a house.

Often you can research amenities, such as local shops, schools, leisure areas and more online, which may ease the burden of investigating all of that personally. Highly rated amenities should make it easier to choose between two areas, but its also important to consider what you're looking for in an area.

Your job too plays a huge part in picking a house - can you easily travel to your place of work, and more importantly, is the area able to offer a similar job, should the worst happen?

You can also balance isolation and city life with what you prefer - if you prefer a quieter pace of life, its better to move to a town, though you may find that houses further out of cities may cost slightly more. But you will obviously find that the houses give you more room, including - possibly - a garden. With all the choices you may have to move houses, the best decision you can make is one that leaves you satisfied, and gives you the closest to your perfect match of needs and wants as you can find.

Not all of the items will be needed for every project, for instance you will use either lead cames OR copper foil and their corresponding accessories depending on the stained glass style you will be working with. Other tools listed may be very helpful, but not entirely necessary, one pair of pliers may be enough to do several jobs for example.

Glass Cutters- One of the most important tools you will use in stained glass making, good glass cuts will make or break your project. These range from very inexpensive carbide steel wheel cutters (you will need to add cutting oil as you go along) to slightly more expensive self-oiling tungsten carbide or pistol grip wheel cutters.

Cutting Oil- This helps to reduce friction allowing a smoother cut and also keeps glass debris from encumbering the cutting wheel's progress.

Soldering Iron- (pronounced like soddering) This is used to melt lead solder which in turn is used to join pieces of metal, such as the lead cames or copper foil that will hold your stained glass pieces together.

Solder- The type you will be using in stained glass making should be an alloy (mixture) of tin and lead. This usually comes in a spool of either a 50/50 or 60/40 blend. The 60/40 is slightly more expensive, flows more smoothly and is therefore preferable for making a stained glass project.

Sal Ammoniac- This is soldering iron tip cleaner made from a naturally occurring mineral that reacts to the heat of the soldering iron and removes debris when the iron is gently rubbed on it.

Flux- Helps remove oxidation and other dirt and debris from the metal surfaces so that the solder can adhere to it. This is an absolute necessity to keep your stained glass pieces together; the solder just won't "stick" without it!

Flux Brush- A very inexpensive brush used to apply the flux.

Flux Remover- Can be used to neutralize flux or patina and is often used at the end of projects to clean up small errors and over-flow.

Cutting Square- Helpful when drawing squares or other designs requiring a right angle.

Ruler- Used for measuring project dimensions as well as for drawing or cutting a straight line. A non-skid backing such as cork or rubber will help keep it from sliding on the glass.

Pattern Shears- These are special scissors that automatically cut the proper size strip of paper between pattern pieces to allow room for the lead cames or copper foils to be placed between the various stained glass pieces of the design.

Grozing Pliers- These pliers have narrow, serrated jaws for picking up small chucks of glass and can be used to remove uneven or jagged pieces of stained glass after cutting.

Running Pliers- These thick pliers help to carefully break stained glass pieces that have been scored on the design lines.

Needle Nose Pliers- A good all around tool to keep handy, can be used for small detail work.

Wire Cutters- These can be used to cut reinforcing wire or the picture hanging wire to hang your finished stained glass art project.

Hammer or Mallet- A good rubber headed mallet can be used to gently tap stained glass pieces into place.

Carborundum Stone- A trademarked name for a grinding tool used to smooth the edges of cut pieces of stained glass. Should be wetted periodically to make smoothing easier.

Electric Glass Grinder- A bit more luxurious way to smooth the glass edges; this is a machine that will do the job faster and more efficiently. This is definitely nice, but optional.

Copper Foil- One of the choices of material to hold the pieces of stained glass together. Comes in various widths depending on the look of your project-make sure your pattern shears are the same width as your foil or came.

Copper Foil Dispenser- Another nicety, this makes handling the copper foil easier, much the way a tape dispenser makes tape easier to handle.

Lead Cames- The original choice in stained glass support systems. These come as long strips of lead with grooves or channels on either one side or both, depending on whether it is to be used as an inside or outer edge piece of the stained glass.

Lead Vise- Holds the lead came in place to allow it to be stretched before use.

Lead Cutters- Also known as lead pliers these snips are especially helpful when cutting cames for use in the corners of your stained glass project.

Lead Knife- Can be used to make clean straight cuts on lead cames.

Horseshoe Nails- Great for holding frames in place when assembling your stained glass project.

Dustpan and Brush- Helps to keep your workplace clean which is important in making stained glass projects because debris will prevent things from sticking properly.

Safety Goggles- Keeps pieces of lead or glass from damaging the eyes during cutting, always remember "safety first"!

Wooden Block Holder- Can be helpful for holding pieces of stained glass.

Masking Tape- Always handy in the workshop; may be used to hold pattern pieces together or many other uses.

Picture Hanging Wire or Other Fasteners- For hanging your completed stained glass project.

Lead Board with Right Angle Support- Useful in holding a lead stained glass project in place during assembly while keeping the edges clean and straight.

Wood or Plastic Fid- Great as a burnishing or spreading tool when applying foil to stained glass.

Glazing Cement- Seals and strengthens the joint areas of the lead cames.

Whiting- Helps to dry and set the glazing cement. Can also be used to remove excess putty from the stained glass.

Stiff Bristle Brush- Used for applying glazing cement.

Patina- Liquid solution that changes the appearance of solder, can give a more antiqued appearance.

Rubber Gloves- Absolutely necessary when applying patina or any other solvents to the project; you do not want these penetrating your skin!

Mirror Sealer- This aerosol spray is used on the back of mirrors to keep the reflective coating from being scratched or damaged.

Finishing Compound- Provides the finishing touch to your stained glass project, adding polish and shine while providing a protective finish to help prevent oxidation and tarnish buildup.

Pushpins, Tacks and Jig Material- Items that may be helpful in holding certain pieces together while assembling your stained glass project.

Craft Knife- Perfect for correcting small errors in copper foiling and other small tasks.

Steel Wool- May remove oxidized material from solder and other metal parts.

Plastic Basin and Sponge- With warm soapy water to clean glass and metal debris from your stained glass workspace.

Carbon Paper- For making pattern copies.

Tracing Paper- For tracing the original design unto a clean copy.

Rubber Cement- For holding pattern pieces on glass to make cutting them out easier.

Pens, Pencils, Markers and Colored Pencils- Needed for drawing and coloring in pattern pieces.

There you have it, a not-so-condensed shopping list to get you on your way to a new hobby in stained glass art making!

They want the whole kit and caboodle; the brightly colored fish, the flowing plants, the half rotted pirates ship, and the coral reef. Growing a coral reef in your saltwater aquarium is the ultimate goal for many saltwater aquarium enthusiast.

Beginners that are just starting a saltwater aquarium are not advised to attempt a reef aquarium. Start with a fish only aquarium and become familiar first, once you have mastered that you will be ready to add one of the hardier breeds of coral to your tank.

Before running out and purchasing coral reef, bear in mind that you are not adding an elaborate rock to your tank. Polyps are tiny invertebrate. These polyps work together to form the limestone structures we know as coral reefs. Before you add the reef to your saltwater aquarium you must remember that the life of these polyps depends on your ability to provide them with the proper food, lighting, and water.

Having good water is especially important if your want your coral reef to survive. An abrupt change in your water can cause the polyps to go into a state of shock, this will cause your reef to become discolored.Your aquarium must be filled with clear water which will allow the coral reef to get the full benefit of your lighting. Coral requires a strong water current, outfit your tank with a filter that circulates the water throughout your entire tank. Avoid a linear current.

When you have decided on a variety of coral for your coral saltwater aquarium do some research on the lighting. Some corals have special lighting requirements.

Remember that coral, like all living organisms, require you to feed them. For along time it was believed that coral reefs needed only minimal feeding. This belief was triggered by belief that coral reefs were nutrient poor. People assumed that the reefs used photosynthesis to feed. The reality is that most coral needs to be fed, at a minimum, weekly (every two to three days is recommended). Most coral needs to be fed food that has to be frozen or refrigerated. Throw away any food that has been open for over five months, it becomes stale. You may want to consider purchasing liquid or bottled food for your corral. The size of the polyps in your coral reef will tell you a great deal about their food requirements. If you have large fleshy looking polyps you will be able to feed them large pieces of food, minced meat and large zooplankton. If your have a coral reef that is made up of tiny polyps you have to remember that they can't digest the large pieces of food, these polyps will starve to death in an aquarium that is full of food that is to large for it to digest.

If you have done your homework and are patient and diligent you will be able to enjoy a very successful and beautiful coral saltwater aquarium.

Your kitchen is most likely the heart of your home, where meals are cooked, homework is finished, and where your family enjoys spending time together. It is often the place where friends, neighbors and family automatically gravitate, drawn by the aroma of food cooking and the warmth of the room. Your kitchen is one of the busiest rooms in your house; shouldn't it be as beautiful and functional as possible?

There are many options for updating your kitchen, ranging from easily accomplished, bare-bones budget plans, to a full kitchen remodel. With a full remodel, you can do a nice job with a relatively small budget or go for a complete luxury kitchen remodel. When it comes to what is available to update and remodel your kitchen, the sky is the limit!

Keep in mind also, that short of committing to a full kitchen remodel, it can be surprisingly easy and cost-effective to update your kitchen with a few new items and make it as welcoming and useable as possible. You could start by resurfacing cabinets, for instance, or installing new countertops or flooring. How about re-tiling the backsplash with beautiful tiles that will complement your kitchen decor? Or consider getting new appliances. A beautiful new range or the spacious refrigerator you've always wanted can make change the look of your kitchen. Even something as simple as choosing new knobs and handles for cabinets and drawers can freshen the look of your kitchen and make a dramatic difference in how you feel about spending time there.

If you do decide to do a full kitchen remodel, consider that you can either be your own contractor, hiring different people to do specific pieces of work, or hire a remodeling company to oversee the entire project. To begin, start by taking an honest look at your budget and don't forget to set aside a fund for all those little unexpected things that crop up in remodeling jobs. You may decide to do a budget kitchen remodel, or take a middle of the road approach, or go for everything and treat yourself to the luxury kitchen of your dreams.

Whatever your budget, you can start the process by getting ideas for how you want your new kitchen to look. If you've applied for a loan to get the work done, this is something you can begin right away, while you are waiting for the money to fund. It has the added benefit of creating inspiration and determination to see the job through-once you have visualized how your kitchen will look, you'll never be satisfied until it is a reality.

To start, visit home improvement stores and wander the aisles, looking for ideas for your kitchen remodel. Leaf through kitchen magazines and study the ads and read the articles to familiarize yourself with what's available, including the many new products that are constantly being developed. Start to form ideas about what will and won't fit your budget. At this step, when you see all the possibilities for a new kitchen, you may decide to put a bit more into it than originally planned.

Begin your plans to update your kitchen today. Whether you decide to add a few small improvements or do a full-scale remodel, you'll never regret your commitment to creating the wonderful kitchen of your dreams.
