Fake Figma`s Quality

I bought this figma last December and do I know it was a fake? YES! I bought this on purpose just to see the quality of a fake figma myself after reading Pasu`s entry on Fake Figma.

Figma Mikuru and Haruhi Cheerleader version is the common bootlegged Figma and you need to be careful when purchasing these two. Is there any way to spot a Figma figma? From what I can tell, there is one thing that a fake Figma doesn`t have on it`s free bag, now let`s see if you can differentiate these bag:

But if you have an original Mikuru cheerleader`s bag do tell me if it had the 'one I circled in orange' because I cant make a 100% confirmation since I myself doesn`t have the original verison. Who knows maybe all Figma Mikuru cheerleader version are the only Figma that doesn`t have the 'one I circled in orange'.

Next is the quality of the joints, man it sucks! This fake Figma Mikuru can`t even stand properly because of it`s weak joint on the knee. And look here, factory error?

Oguri Shun is well known for his role as Takiya Genji in Crows Zero and Crows Zero 2 among Bruneian! He`s an actor and now a director! Here`s a trailer of the first movie that Oguri Shun directed!

Synopsis:

Drawing influence from the street musicians of Miyagi, high school students Takumi (Keisuke Koide), Kyohei (Ryo Katsuji), Shuuto (Go Ayano), Kazuo (Ryohei Suzuki), and Yuuki (Tsuyoshi Muro) form a band and spend all their free time practicing for their school’s upcoming festival. However, when the festival is abruptly canceled, they come up a dimwitted strategy to fake a bomb threat to force the principal to change his mind. Surprisingly, their plan seems to work at first, but when a real bomb goes off, the group are forced to take responsibility for the explosion and are kicked out of school. Three years later, further details of the incident are revealed as Takumi and company attempt to put their lives back in order.

This is just a wrap of what`s going with me and my blog through out the year!

2009 has been a great and successful year for me but there are of course some other things that I weren`t successful at. I started this blog on March 14 and there has been a lot of changes to it`s templates, color theme and widgets placement.

I`m happy to see the increase in the amount of readers and visitors to this blog. I even got linked by someone I didn`t know and that shows that they really like my blog. K-ON`s official website has confirmed that production on the second season has been green-lit! W000000000T!!!!!

The second season of the K-ON! anime franchise was announced after the "Let's Go!" live concert in Yokohama on Wednesday. When the concert's two encores ended, the large onstage screen displayed footage from the first season of the television anime series. Then the screen displayed an announcement that the second season has been green-lit!

What`s a 'Blue Moon'?

Comrade Jojo shared a very interesting topic on his blog. He talked about a 'once in a blue moon' event for New Years Eve.

A blue moon is a full moon that is not timed to the regular monthly pattern. Most years have twelve full moons which occur approximately monthly, but in addition to those twelve full lunar cycles, each solar calendar year contains an excess of roughly eleven days compared to the lunar year. The extra days accumulate, so that every two or three years (on average about every 2.7154 years), there is an extra full moon. The extra moon is called a "blue moon."

An article posted by David Brown stated that when something unusual happens, we often hear that it was "once in a Blue Moon." But how rare to experience a "blue moon" on a very special day, New Year's Eve. Tomorrow you can witness that even more unusual event.

There really are "blue moons, but the term has nothing to do with the color of our satellite — it will look just the same as any other full moon.

We call it a "blue moon" when a second full moon appears during a single month. This month the Moon was full on December 2, and will be again on December 31, so that identifies the New Years Eve moon as a blue one. Actually, that definition is fairly recent, dating from a blooper in the pages of Sky & Telescope in 1946. You can read that story here.

Why are the appearances of blue moons unusual events? Most years have twelve full moons, taking place about once every month (the words "month" and "moon" come from the same Old English root). But the period of the moon's orbit around the Earth isn't quite a month long, so at the end of every year there are a few extra days. Those days add up and about every 2.7 years there is an extra full moon to make up the difference.

There are many theories where the term came from. One relates to the fact that in Medieval times the English clergy used the phases of the moon to determine the dates for Lent and Easter. If a full moon appeared too early, it was called a "betrayer moon," using the Old English word "belewe," meaning either betrayer or blue. Later English writers confused the two meanings.

Whatever the reasons, what better way to celebrate the end of the year just ending than to step outside and observe the rising full moon. How many more blue moons will come before two such unique events again coincide?
Because of geometry, a full moon always rises in the East opposite the setting sun, so right after dark is a good time to view Luna in her splendor. But if you wait until the traditional Midnight, the moment of the changing of the year, it may be an even more spectacular sight, for then the blue moon will be shining brightly from directly overhead, halfway across the sky.

2 Suspects Arrested in Murder of Japanese woman

Jakarta - Bali police said Wednesday they have arrested two men suspected of involvement in the killing of a 41-year-old Japanese woman at her rental home in the Kuta area.

The two suspects—construction workers who used to work on a construction site near the woman’s house—are being held by police in the Bali provincial capital Denpasar, Kuta Police Chief Detective Dayendra said.

Hiromi Shimada from Saitama Prefecture was found dead in her home on Saturday evening. She was found naked with several stab wounds to the abdomen and her legs were tied with a sarong.

Dayendra said one suspect comes from Lombok, an island adjacent to Bali, and was arrested in the Kuta area on Sunday, while another suspect was arrested in the East Java city of Jember on Monday.

The two were last seen having drinks with Shimada in a nearby coffee shop hours before the woman invited them to her house.

Police found the knife believed to have been used in the murder in Shimada’s house.

Shimada, who has reportedly been living on the resort island for the last 10 years, was about to be deported in January for overstaying her visa.

Shimada’s body was taken to Denpasar’s central hospital Sanglah where it is waiting to be claimed by her family.

In late September, Rika Sano, a 33-year-old Japanese woman, was raped and killed also in the Kuta area. Police arrested the suspected killer in early October.

Comiket otherwise known as the Comic Market is the world's largest handmade comic book fair, held twice a year in Tokyo, Japan. The first Comiket was held on December 21, 1975, with only about 32 participating circles and an estimated 600 attendees. Attendance has since swelled to over a half million people. The most recent Comiket, Comiket 77 is held this month from 29 to 31. Here`s some images of the event.

FUNKY MONKEY BABYS has recently announced that they will release their first best album next year.

No title mentioned but the collection will reportedly include all of their singles, from their 2006 debut "Sonomanma Higashi e" to their upcoming "Namida / Yume," as well as their digital-only "Furusato." The album is scheduled to go on sale on February 10.

How to Take Care of Your PVC Figure

I had a trouble cleaning my 1/7 Ignis this afternoon. It is made of PVC and any reckless movement could damage it`s paint and I don`t want that to happen! PVC is known to get a bit crappy and brittle after a long time. I googled for tips and found a great article on how to take care of a PVC figure.

baibaiman from Hobby Fanatics shared 10 useful tips but before we move on, here`s a bit introduction of PVC:

Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC)

PVC is one of the most common plastics used in the world. It`s quite similar to rubber and the toughness/malleability of PVC is dependant on the plastisers added. More plastisers = more softness, since they straighten out neatly the long macromolecular polymer chains into neat rows. Some figure collectors complain of an oily film after a while and I would think this is due to the plasticisers migrating to the surface of the plastic. Small plasticiser molecules are pretty mobile and after a period of time, they accumulate on the surface to produce a oily crud.

This is also why PVC tends to get a bit crappy and brittle after a long time. Oh yeah these plasticisers are quite toxic too. And if you have a fire at home, dump your figurines at them to extinguish it, since the chlorine produced retards the flame. Btw, some plasticisers are thought to reduce the quality of MAN SPERM.

A very large percentage of the figures sold are made of PVC. From gashapon, trading figures to 1/6s, these are mainly PVCs. Cheap material cost, easy of moulding, ductility (it won`t break much, just bend) are the reasons why it is used.

Never leave them in the sun. Ultraviolet rays produce free radicals on PVC, chlorine free radicals, that combine to form chlorine gas and the material is decomposed. The sun also heats them up and PVC distorts at a temperature of 60 degrees Celsius. Being a thermoplastic, you can actually heat it up and bend it, then cool for it to maintain that shape.

PVC, due to the addition of chlorine atoms which have a pretty high molecular mass compared to C and H, is heavy for a plastic.

Here is the simple list of how to taken care of your PVC figure:

1) Keep it on cool temperature. (Hot temperature will cause your PVC to produced oil and it will easily crack in the future).

2) DONT EVER PUT YOUR PVC DIRECTLY TO SUNLIGHT. Don`t put them near strong light that produced heat wave, e.g halogen lamp and filament bulb.

3) Once every few months, put your figure inside freezer for about 20 minutes (Not too long).

4) If by any chance your figure starting to produced oil (Because of heat), put your figure to freezer for 30 minutes to 45 minutes.

5) Use blower to clean your figure. You can even use hair drier to blow all the dust (REMEMBER TO SET THE HAIR DRIER TO BLOW COOL AIR, NOT THE HOT AIR). If you rich, use dust remover that used to clean up computer part or other electronic stuff.

6) Do not clean your figure with chemical liquid. No warm water as well. If possible avoid water; only use small amount water to clean very dirty part of your figure.

7) If you have a hard time to remove the figure from the stand (most of them are made of plastic), do not use force. Just put the figure inside the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes. It is because plastic will shrink and expand more then PVC, coldcast, etc..

8) If you have more then 1 figure stand close to each other, please make sure dont let them to touch each other. After long time, it will leave a mark on the other figure.

10) This is for PVC figure Only.
AVOID puting heavy object e.g. weapon, items, etc.. on your figure hands. It is because PVC will bend over time.

Inkheart is a film directed by Iain Softle based on a novel written by Cornelia Funke. I grabbed Inkheart DVD yesterday and watched it with my lil cousins this afternoon.

Inkheart follows Mortimer "Mo" Folchart and his 12-year-old daughter, Meggie, share a passion for books. What they also share is an extraordinary gift for bringing characters from books to life when they read aloud. But when a character is brought to life from a book, a real person disappears into its pages!

Inkheart was just okay. I never read the book before and I`m not a big sucker of fantasy-adventure film but I do watch some of them. Before Inkheart we already had Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Spiderwick Chronicles and of course Harry Potter.

The ending of this movie was just silly to me. Pffft! Dude I know it`s 'Fantasy-adventure' film, anything can happen! I`m not saying this movie was 100% a dick, basically it`s not that bad and you would probably enjoy this movie more than you expected. I had enjoy this movie but it weren`t memorable like Transformers RotF, Terminator 4 and Avatar. Personally, this movie is a good one if you want to make your childrens to read more!^^,

Second Murder of Japanese Woman in Bali

Jakarta - Police on the Indonesian resort island of Bali said Sunday they have questioned eight people a day after they found a 41-year-old Japanese woman murdered in her rental home in the Kuta area. According to Kuta Police Chief Dodi Prawiranegara, Hiromi Shimada, 41, was first found dead by her neighbors around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

She was found naked with stab wounds in the abdomen and her legs were tied with a sarong, he said.

Prawiranegara said Shimada was resident in Bali, but she was about to be deported to Japan in January for overstaying her visa.

Police said robbery did not appear to be a motive for the killing.

The eight people who have been questioned by the police included some friends and neighbors who had known her in Bali for a long time.

According to neighbors, Shimada had been frequently seen enjoying the nightlife in Bali.

They also said she apparently had financial support from her family in Japan, but it is unclear what she was doing in Bali. Her hometown in Japan is so far unknown.

An autopsy is to be conducted Monday, police said.

Last September a Japanese woman tourist was also murdered on the island.
