I am not a tech person but love to learn graphics. I spend most of the time working for my blogs and part of time is spent experimenting with the layout and look of my blogs. Photo editing software's inspire me a lot because you can edit and enhance your digital pictures with it.
I love painting, drawing etc and keep a collection of software or tools to draw or create painting effect. There are many photo editing softwares like 'Photoshop' or 'Illustrator' but without a good knowledge you may not use them. So for novice persons like me, graphics tools or mini softwares with easy usage are better option.

While searching online for graphics software I found 'Artweaver' which helps you to paint creatively with many painting tools.
You can easily create sketches from photos. This small size but useful software provides you multiple tool to customize it. It also offers tandard image editing tools like gradient, crop, fill and selection tools.

If you have some knowledge of photo editing softwares then you may work with layers, group layers.

Collecting Antiques is a passion. Many of these antique collections are surprisingly valuable and extremely interesting and valuable. Collecting antique clocks is one of interesting but valuable hobby. Collecting hobbies like stamps, coins or clocks are a part of our history. They reflect the ways things were. Collecting antique clocks can be very addicting!

An antique clock is unusual in the world of antiques in that it is a working piece of art, or should be in order to get the most enjoyment and value. Whether you have just one family clock, or a collection of interesting timepieces, there is much that can be learnt about the craft, particularly when some hundred years or more ago, before machine tools, just about every component of the timepiece was made by hand.

Why do people collect antique clocks?
Antique clocks do offer a lot. They were, in their time, quite sophisticated scientific instruments and certainly individual. They were usually thought of as complex instruments, they were often made by prominent scientists or designed by mathematicians, astronomers or the furniture designers of the day. Clocks were, more or less, hand built.

Clocks represent the best in furniture styles, Chippendale, Hepplewhite and Sheraton, and use the best of materials – oak, ebony, walnut, mahogany and the marquetry of the specialist cabinetmaker.
The dials were often elaborately engraved as if by the finest silversmith, the dials were indeed silvered long before electro-plating was invented. Brass decoration was gilded to demonstrate the wealth and flamboyance of the times and owner. Both cases and dials could be painted to illustrate country life, trade with the Chinese, or voyagers to the four continents. Almost all antique clocks were signed by the individual clockmaker, giving his name and the town where he made the clock. Clocks are indeed fine antiques and represent many facets of history.

Antique clocks ar more than just a good looking ornaments, it can also be very good investment. Like all antiques, antique clocks have appreciated in value, some to the point where only today's wealthy can participate.

For centuries, the knife has always been an essential tool in the evolution of mankind. People continue to use knives every day for important tasks, such as cutting food, making surgical incisions and saving lives in emergency situations. Every knife has a specific use and we use the proper knife for every cutting task.

This post is about the basic knowledge of collage which a creative art form. These techniques and tips can help you learn the basics of this creative hobby and start your first collage work.

Collage is considered an established art form, where everyday objects are transformed and given new meaning. The ultimate goal of collage is to assemble a collection of objects or materials and transform them into a new visual form.

A collage may include newspaper clippings, ribbons, bits of colored or hand-made papers, portions of other artwork, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas.' Collage is usually more of a two-dimensional art. Once you start adding more dimensional items to your collage, you are dabbling with sculpting.
There is another kind of collage which is called 'digital collage'. Digital collage is the technique of using computer tools in collage creation to encourage chance associations of disparate visual elements and the subsequent transformation of the visual results through the use of electronic media. It is commonly used in the creation of digital art.

You may collect variety of materials and explore how they might be put together into a composition. You can start with cheap and easily available material like paper, newspaper, old magazines. The next step is to get a scissors and glue and that's it. You may create a unique crafts piece or a card to show your talent using this form of creative art.

Making a collage in not something you need step-by-step instructions for.

There is a basic procedure you may follow to make a collage:
1- Prepare a base for your collage
The base for your collage can be a piece of paper, poster board, cardboard, canvas, empty picture frame, or any other flat item. If you are using paper then using a heavier paper is a good idea.
You can use almost anything you like to create your collage. A few commonly used items are magazine pictures, photographs, or fancy paper. Go through your craft cupboards, magazine racks, and even your junk drawers to find unique items you can use. There are plenty of other mediums you can use that you might not think of, check out this list of creative collage materials.
2- Type of Glue
The glue you choose to use for your collage project will depend on what items you are using in your collage. In some instances you might use a couple different kinds of glue in your collage. To create paper collage you need simple glue stick. For other mediums other than paper, you may find crafts gule at crafts shops.
3- Creating your collage.
Once you have your base, the items you will use to create your collage, and the appropriate glue, you can start making your collage. You can try to plan it out a little bit by arranging your collage items on your base before you glue it down.

You can use a scissors or utility knife to cut the items you are using into the desired shapes and sizes. You can also experiment with tearing your items. Once your collage items are all in place, set it aside and let it dry.

Create a wall decoration with easy available materials:
Gather your old magazines you don't want anymore and cut off some cool pictures, words, or celebrities. When you're done place everything on the "background" (thicker paper or colored paper) and set it to fit perfectly. Then use some glue and get a new decoration for your wall.

Knives are one of the most ancient tools prepared by humans. A knife is basically a sharp edged tool, which is used to cut different objects. It usually comprises of a blade, which is attached to a handle. The knife is man's oldest tool. Tools that were the very instruments early man (hunter/gatherer) used to keep himself fed. The knives at that time were truly "hand made". Early man fashioned his knife out of thin pieces of stone.

The first knifes used in the Stone Age were made of either flint orflint or rock, their edge was chipped or ground, and they sometimes, but not all the time, had a handle. With later advances in smelting and metallurgy, blades were able to be made of bronze, iron, and even steel. Although time has changed the materials that are used, a knife's basic design still remains very much the same.

Types of knives:

As different objects cannot be cut and chopped by the regular knife, different types of knife are available in the market to make the task easy. Kitchen knifes are used for table service and these type are usually very common. These are usually named after the service they provide such as a dinner knife, luncheon knife, fish knife, butter knife, and the popular steak knifes.

One of the most used of the kitchen knifes is the smaller paring knife. A paring knife has a short, pointed blade that is very easy to handle. It is mostly used for quicker jobs such as peeling and removing cores.

Kitchen knifes are the most commonly used type of knife today. It seems that everyone who has a kitchen has at least one, although many of us have several that are used for many different purposes.
One of the most commonly known of the kitchen knifes is the French knife, also known as a chef's knife. It has a broad, tapered shape with a fine edge that is great for things such as chopping vegetables.
A slicing knife, with its long and narrow blade, is used to cut through things such as cooked meat.

Those kitchen knifes that feature scalloped edges are perfect for slicing those foods that are softer, such as tomatoes, bread, and cakes.
Type of Knife and Their Uses

Boning Knife - This knife has a 4-5 inch blade. The blade is flexible and suited for separating meat from the bone.
Bread Knife - Bread knife has a 9 inch blade. With the help of its sharp, scalloped blade, the bread can be easily cut without squashing the loaf.
Chef's Knife - The Chef knife has a 4-12 inch blade. It is a versatile knife that can be skillfully used for various purposes. However, it comes very handy, while chopping and dicing. You can choose the blade length as per your comfort but make sure you use a longer knife for bigger jobs.
Cleaver - This knife comes with a 6 inch blade. It is best suited to chop through the bones and joints of an animal. Moreover, its flat side can be used to crush peppercorns and other spices.
Fish Filet - This knife has a 7 inch blade. As the name suggests, this thin, long blade knife has great flexibility for filleting fish.
Fork - Fork knife has an 8 inch blade. This is a carving knife's assistant, used to hold meat in place while slicing. Meat can also be transferred from pan to plate with the help of this knife.
Ham Slicer - This knife has a 10 inch blade. As the name suggests, it is also a specific knife, specially designed for slicing through the unique texture of ham.
Oriental Cleaver - It is a 7 inch blade knife, which is also referred as 'cleaver'. It's really a fine chopper and dicer of vegetables, herbs, meats and fruits. However, it should not be used to chop bones.
Paring Knife - A paring knife is designed to be short, sharp, and pointed for easy handling while peeling or mincing. This knife has a 3½-4 inch blade. This is the most commonly used knife in the kitchen, preferred for hand-held tasks, providing utmost control. A paring knife is intended to be all-purpose, just like chef's knife but smaller in size. A paring knife can be an extension of the hand because of its size and lightness. It is mainly used for peeling fruits and vegetables, and slicing small ingredients. Because it can be used in controlled and detailed cutting, a paring knife is also used in de-veining shrimps, removing seeds from jalapeño peppers, and cutting shapes/designs for small garnishes.
Birds Beak Knife - It is a type of a paring knife. It is designed for peeling small round fruits and vegetables.
Salmon Slicer - It has a 12 inch blade knife. It is long, thin and exceptionally flexible, designed for slicing smoked salmon.
Slicer/Carver - This knife has an 8-10 inch blade. It is used for carving paper - thin slices of meats, fruits and vegetables. With the help of the pointed tip, you can cut around bones or pieces of melon.
Steak Knife - The Steal knife has a 5 inch blade. This is a sharp knife that cuts through thick steaks and chops.
Tomato/Bagel Knife - This knife comes with a 5 inch blade. It is a serrated knife, appropriate for cutting something that's soft on the inside and tough on the outside.
Utility Knife - Utility knife has a six inch blade. It can be rightly called a cross between a paring and chef's knife. In effect, it's an all - purpose knife capable of performing a variety of everyday tasks.

Knife has been useful tool from the early ages when the first “breeds” of knives were made of stones until now when knives are made of premium quality steel. Knife collecting is a personal hobby where each individual can select his or her specialty.

What kind of knives are collected?

There are knife collectors that search for certain patterns such as trappers, whittlers, canoes, muskrats, peanuts, folding hunters, etc.

Collection of certain handle materials such as stag, mother of pearl, yellow, rough black, green bone, celluloid, etc.
Certain brand names such as Case, Remington, Winchester, Fight'n Rooster, IXL, Queen, etc.
certain blade stampings such as Case Tested, Case XX, Old Remington, New Remington, etc.
Certain specialties (such as advertising, figural, souvenir, etc).

According to wikipedia: Knife collecting is a hobby which includes seeking, locating, acquiring, organizing, cataloging, displaying, storing, and maintaining knives. Some collectors are generalists, accumulating an assortment of different knives. Others focus on a specialized area of interest, perhaps bayonets, knives from a particular factory, Bowie knives, pocketknives, or handmade custom knives.

The knives of collectors may be antiques or even marketed as collectible. Antiques are knives at least 100 years old; collectible knives are of a later vintage than antique, and may even be new. Collectors and dealers may use the word vintage to describe older collectibles. Some knives which were once everyday objects may now be collectible since almost all those once produced have been destroyed or discarded, like certain WW2 era knives made with zinc alloy handles which are rapidly degrading due to the material's shelf life. Some collectors collect only in childhood while others continue to do so throughout their lives and usually modify their collecting goals later in life.

Getting started with collectible knives.

1.) Decide yourself how to start off?. Ask questions like, what in knives are you interested most? How did you know about knives and why do you think you have what it takes to be a genuine knife enthusiast?
2.) Get the sufficient knowledge about that specific category. To begin, see how you would focus in your collection – should it be by patterns, handle materials, brand names, or specialties. With this, when you are about to purchase collectible knives, you would know which specifications you need.
a.) To attain sufficient preparation, invest on reference materials such as books and magazines whose markets are knife collectors. They could provide you with histories, features, news, trends, and knife values.
For example: genuine antique knives are said to be expensive because they did not only survive the tests of time, they are also rare. Take note, they should be antique and not simply looking like antique. Now you know that collectible knives could actually make good investment.
b.) Aside from print materials, the web will offer you loads of information and most likely, the most updated news about knife auctions, shows and knife forums.
c.) There could be thousands of knife makers in the market, but rare are those that produce premium quality products. You can begin the investigation through telephone directories if you wish to hear from them literally. But the reads from magazines, books, and from the internet will make the process easier though.

3.) Aside from your knives collection, you may also get collectible knives and swords that are useful to you. Some people who are the adventurous and the wild type would prefer knives that can keep up with multitasking and out-of-the-world activities. They would choose hunting knives if they are always in the wild. There are also tactical combat knives which are considered survival knives useful as weapons and for self-defense. Bowie knives could be a wise option in knife collecting too. The most common, are the affordable pocket knives from automatic switchblade knives, fixed knives, and butterfly knives or Balisong. These collectible knives are easier to find, handy, and practical for daily uses as tools.

4.) Take care of your priced collections. Different kinds of knives require different ways of maintenance and care.
a.) Keep your knife clean and sharp. If you have knives that you constantly use such as pocket knives and combat survival knives, clean them very often with hot, soapy water and spray them with penetrating oil.
b.) In cases of antique knives, store them in glass boxes or in their cases. There should be proper waxing or oiling to preserve this knife.
c.) Sharpen knives. The easiest way is to have a knife sharpener which is available in knife stores.

5.) Join knife clubs: At these knife collecting clubs or forums you can meet knife collectors, knife makers and professional ones. There could be knife shows, auctions, and the exciting barter of knives! There are also other enjoyable activities such as knife handling and flipping skills and competitions on how to throw a knife!

Which tools you need to start quilling?

Essential tools are paper and glue. You may also need tweezers to hold the paper strips. Any kind of thick needle or even pencil can be used to create quills. Using a needle tool is not as difficult. The best tip is to moisten the end of the paper first, then lay it across your index finger beneath the pointed end of the needle tool. Using your thumb roll the paper around the tool, keeping the tool still. Needle tools traditionally have a wooden handle making them easy to hold, but you could also use a hat pin or even a cocktail stick or toothpick in the same way.

Quilling paper strips are generally available in widths generally ranging from 2mm to 10mm. The most common width to use is 3mm or 1/8th inch, with the wider strips generally used for fringed flowers. You can cut the strips yourself with the help of a paper cutter and a steel ruler.

Due to its 3D effect, and to keep the shape of your quilling art intact, you should insert it into envelope with care.

Another artist is from America 'Nick Georgiou' known for his use of the printed word as an artistic medium, but not in the way you think. He creates creatures and art pieces out of discarded newspapers and books, and has a penchant for depositing them in random locations throughout New York City. He creates anything from delightfully odd critters to eerily depictive portraits.

Nick Georgiou uses old newspapers, collected by him or donated by others, tears them into folds and stitches them into various creatures. His works have been exhibited in various shows and galleries, bot in the US and abroad.

How to start collecting paper money?

A very common type of collecting hobby is 'collection of currency or bank notes of various countries of the world'. At this digital and plastic money (credit cards) age, still people use paper money or currency notes. Like coins and stamps these currency notes reflect basic information about that specific country.

Lots of people have dedicated their lives to researching and compiling information on paper money or bank notes.

Do you want to start collecting paper money?

The best way to start is to subscribe to Bank Note Reporter. It's a sort of monthly newspaper for paper money collectors and not only does it carry all the latest news about new issues, currency changes, etc., it also has advertising from a very large number of dealers and it lists paper money shows in the US and around the world. BNR offers free samples to anyone (not just in the USA).

The Professional Currency Dealers Association offers a small booklet called "How to Collect Paper Money" which, if I recall correctly, even contains a few sample world banknotes.

How to trade/buy/sell paper money?

The most effective way to get paper money is not through general circulation, but through dealers, collectors, auctions, and shows. There are many online sites which can help you trade paper money or back notes.

The International Bank Note Society's quarterly journal carries free advertising "of a non-commercial nature" for people wanting to update their personal collections. Bank Note Reporter also has a lot
of small cheap ads for this. These are good places to look for people to trade notes.

Another way to buy/sell notes is through mail auctions. Some people prefer to collect notes from general circulation. This is a good way for someone to start getting interested in paper money, but it's really not a very effective way to collect it.

How to keep banknotes safely?

To keep them in the best possible condition is to use inert plastics of good quality.
Common household products such as plastic wrap, plastic bags, window envelopes, etc. should not be used for storing paper money. Most plastics contain PVC, which deteriorates with time and heat, releasing acids and gases which will migrate into the paper, resulting in the notes appearing to have been soaked in oil, or so brittle they shatter at a touch.

Notes should be stored or displayed away from direct sunlight, to avoid fading. Repairs should be made only with products that are stable.
"Magic" tape and other plastic tapes will leave permanent stains on notes.

You can also keep notes in regular paper envelopes as well, although they're more liable to get damaged in handling.

Paper money has both a market value and a personal value. These two things are very different. There are big time dealers who keep a note from circulation just because it has an interesting serial number or for other sentimental reasons. Don't let "market" forces blur the real meaning of being a collector.

What is street art?

In simple words it is the form of art which can be named 'public art' as it is not bound to any limits and it can be seen anywhere around us. It can be a picture drawn on wall, a little color or placing of objects on the pavements, roads or any place around us, which can have some meanings or look like an artistic thing.

According to 'wikipedia' Street art is art, specifically visual art, developed in public spaces — that is, "in the streets".

The term can include traditional graffiti artwork, sculpture, stencil graffiti, sticker art, wheatpasting and street poster art, video projection, art intervention, guerrilla art, flash mobbing and street installations.

‘Street’ artists do not aspire to change the definition of an artwork, but rather to question the existing environment with its own language. There is no specific formula to stay happy and definition or perspective about happiness varies according to personalities. Though it is obvious that staying busy and involving oneself into favorite leisure activities or hobbies helps you get rid of depression, stress etc and thus make you happy. Can we define happiness?

What is Happiness?

Clinical Psychologist Dr. Ellen Kenner says:

'Happiness is not merely a life lived by accumulating moments of pleasure. On the contrary, happiness is a long lasting enduring enjoyment of life, it is being in love with living. It is your reward for achieving a good character and personal rational values in life. Some important values are a productive career, romance, friendship and hobbies.'

Studies show that having a hobby boosts creativity, providing an outlet for your imagination to run free. So to help you stay healthy and happier.

In a recent article '10 Habits That Make You Happier' published at 'fox news' author has suggested to try one new hobby every three months for staying happy. Author says:

'Hobbies are a great way to lift your spirits. Not only does a new hobby give you a chance to set and commit to goals (a key determinant of happiness), but hobbies also offer the opportunity to make new friends and socialize (another important determinant of happiness). By diversifying your hobbies to include larger social activities and more personal, intimate projects, you’ll be able to address both the external and internal factors that determine happiness.'

One of the most pervasive and widespread is a better mental health. After a hard day's work, relaxing while doing the things you love boosts your mind's health without you ever realizing it. This happens because engaging in your hobby leads to the release of various hormones in the brain, which are associated with reward, satisfaction, happiness and so on. Dopamine and oxytocin are just two examples, and they are both addictive substances. If they are release while you are performing an activity, then you will most likely try to do it again, without being necessarily able to logically explain why. You will only say “Because I like it.”

People develop hobbies for the sheer pleasure of it, as a stress relieving activity, to break the boredom of life or to generate an income from activities that they love to do. It can be one or all of these but hobbies and interests frequently offer a place to escape to, where one can heal the mind as well as the body.

What hobbies do for you?

Hobbies can relax your mind by staying out of work and concentrating on a thing you like. Thus they can help you reduce your stress level. Hobbies are very similar to meditation. Both in meditation and hobby you try to reach a common goal, happiness. There are no rules when it comes to choosing a hobby. It my be gardening or watching good movies or wood carving or listening to music or reading books or even it may be sleeping.

There is no better time than now to renew an interest in an old hobby or start a new one. Immersing yourself in a hobby is a great way to happiness. And, after all, being happy is what it’s all about. Happiness and hobbies also go hand in hand. If you are keen to discover the joy of feeling better and positive every day, then it’s time to start a hobby to keep your body, mind and soul refreshed.

Does your computer take a long time to start up?
Does it take more time to run a program?
These are all symptoms of slowing down your pc and indication that you need to use techniques to speed it up.
How?
There are many easy techniques which can help you keep your pc in best shape. It is very common complain from pc users that after some time or weeks, we observe slowing down of programs of pc or laptop. What is the best solution to speed up your computer?
I have collected some techniques which might help you speed up your computer, and at the bottom of the post, there are more links to the sites with easy techniques.

Start Up Programs
Many "gadget" programs want to load automatically at start up and each one sits in memory chewing up resources including memory and CPU cycles. Even worse some programs load at start up and never even let you know they're doing it. I've worked on computers that have had in excess of 100 start up programs (including necessary Windows processes).

Get rid of them! Most of them were probably install once and forget and you'll never miss them. Identifying them is another story but there are alternatives that will help you track them down.

Windows includes a program called MSCONFIG that will identify some start up programs. Click start, run and type in MSCONFIG and that'll get it started. Msconfig is kind of bare bones and won't give you the full story but if you don't have a lot it might do the job.

Next is autoruns which is an excellent and free tool from Microsoft. A word of warning. It is powerful and will not stop you from removing a critical Windows process. Be careful of what you're doing. You can do a free online scan here but you'll have to buy it to make any changes.

Registry Fixers

The registry does a boatload of work in Windows being where just about everything about any program or process is stored and most remove program routines don't do a good job of cleaning up when they are uninstalled. If you've removed even a few programs the registry can become full of useless information. Why does this affect performance? Every time that Windows has to access the registry it's thrashing through a load of useless data to find the right info. I've worked on machines where 25% of the registry was useless junk.

You can avoid this by using a complete uninstaller which works great but it won't fix anything that was uninstalled prior to it being used. It is far easier and less expensive to use a registry fixer as it will not only removed obsolete junk but also fix registry errors which can cause errors and put Windows into slow mode.

Hard Drives - Fragmentation
Hard drive fragmentation should be done frequently. It helps speed up your pc.

Wrapping the gift is just fun - especially if you can turn available materials into something cool. You need more ideas, though to bring creativity and warmth in presentation of your gifts. Whether you are wrapping a birthday gift, Christmas gift or wedding gift, you can use the ideas below and modify them for your own personal gift wrapping. Anyone can use these tips and gift ideas to make their wrapping more attractive.

For example, for baby gift wrapping, you just have to use baby images from cliparts or rubber stamp designs. Baby shakers, diapers, safety pin, or other baby toys will be appropriate for the gift wrap.

1- Stitch it and make it special: Pick up a canvas sack at any craft or art store for a few dollars and stamp it with your own personal touches. Download a free embroidery pattern or draw your own holiday masterpiece. Trace the pattern with a transfer pencil and iron the drawing onto the bag.
