That's right its DAT's Gospel Mix 2. A compilation album of new music from your boyz Brinson, Ready Writer, Big R, and C-Straight. This one's got it all bagged up with guest like Knine, Excelcius, D.J 1 God, Eshon Burgundy, Humble Tip, Omotayo, Fedel, JAZ, Kdrama, ReadyWriter, J. Johnson, Tre 9, DGM23, h.E.A.V.Y. and come on, do I really need to go any further, this list alone should peak your interest. As always this project is filled to the brim with heart piercing God core lyrics cleverly packaged and delivered with an effective street swag that'll have hip-hop heads from both sides of the isle digging in. DAT's Gospel Mix 2 put together in a line up that presents a radio feel with cinematic transitions and commercial style cuts laced with bite size portions of the spoken word of GOD. If you have yet to experience the ministerial work of founder Brinson and the GodChaserz this mix tape does a great job of displaying the level commitment and talent of these grounded men of GOD. The project is as diverse as the guest list. From dance, east coast, old school, down south, freestyle and more, its all here. I must admit that even with the vast amount of outside artist the members of the GodChaserz camp put forth their A+ game and once again proved themselves to be listed among triple H's (holy hip-hop) elite. Furthermore the heart of the camp itself, as well as the individuals, are presented through the issues tackled in the lyrics of each track most notably, Not a Lot to Say by Brinson and Readywriter, which deals with the state of the streets, and the need of the people that live in them, to be exposed to christians living and walking the word of GOD in their everyday lives. Jesus Coming back by Big R and DGM23, is a song that stresses the day of the coming of the Lord Jesus, and the importance of being prepared to face judgment after death. I can't hear ya'll by Readywriter, Brinson, and Big R paints a picture of the lies and garbage that the media, street life and culture bombard our communities with on a daily and how staying grounded in the word opens our eyes to the vain exploits of this world and allows the believer to block empty ideas and cling to the truth of GODs word. U make me better by Big R, gives us a view of the value we take on when Christ is Lord of your life and how no amount of wealth, status or accomplishments can outshine those with the favor and blessing of our GOD, and this is just a taste of the content presented in DAT's Gospel Mix 2. This collection is nicely arranged and gives a deeper look at GodChaserz and the drive behind the music they make.
If you want music that breaks the mold of the typical hip-hop given to you on the radio and TV Cop this album DAT's Gospel Mix 2.

DAT's Gospel Mix 2 bangs out at 5 hipe hope headphones for Sharp spiritual content dope delivery, diverse lyrical and musical styles, envelope pressing issues, and hot production. shout out to Brinson, the GodChaserz, and everyone that contributed to the project keep putting in work for the Lord God bless.

Give em the Lord - GodChaserz

Available on Itunes and at The Bus Shop

GodChaserz MySpace

© Hipe Hope Urban Gospel

Its tone and lyrical content exemplify what Rafiya is all about: soul music that strikes a chord and inspires.
“Amazing”, the EP, scheduled for a digital release on Tuesday November 17th 2009, was written and recorded in Paris, Philadelphia, New York and Maputo over a two-year period, and each city played an important role in shaping its sound. The project’s sonic diversity is a testament to Rafiya’s transcultural influences and its transcendental appeal is proof that music truly is a universal language. Through songs about love, faith, heartbreak and hope, Rafiya wants to share her positive and optimistic perspective on life - a gift she deems Amazing.
Who is Rafiya?
Rafiya was born in Los Angeles to Congolese parents: a diplomat father and a sociologist mother. Due to her father’s career, she traveled extensively during her formative years: living in Congo (Democratic Republic), the Cape Verde Islands, Benin, Senegal, Guinea, Barbados and Ivory Coast. She moved to Philadelphia in 2001 to attend Temple University where she double majored in Sociology and Spanish, and graduated in 2006 with honors.
While attending school full-time in the aforementioned nations, Rafiya found time to work with local artists, absorbing their techniques and wisdom all the while enriching her sound. She has worked with Oscar Kidjo, recorded in Youssou N’Dour’s studio and toured France and North Africa with French rap star, Mokobe.
Every passing collaboration, studio session and performance strengthened her ever-present belief that she would be spending her life making music; making people smile, dance and think.
Rafiya writes and sings about the human experience in French and English but regardless of your native tongue, her passion translates itself in the melody. We're about to get into Emanuel Lambert or better known as, Da Truth's latest project. Crossmovement artist Da Truth has blessed the christian music genre with highly anointed albums like his debut project The Moment of Truth, followed by The Faith, and Open Book. Well now he's back with a new sound with his new project The Big Picture. Da Truth has always delivered solid lyrics whether it be on his own projects or on someone else. Da Truth has spit spiritual and poetic rhymes over some of the most sensitive issues of our time like holiness, being a living example for the world to see, using our God given talents exclusively for the kingdom, to even more specific things like the Columbine incident and false teachings such as the Da Vinci Code. So unless you've been living under a rock its highly unlikely for anyone into holy hip-hop or urban christian music in general not to be familiar with this artist. The Big Picture is all about perspective, from God's perspective to be exact. This album tackles the subject of tying even the most unlikely things in our lives as occurring for God's glory in his plan. Da Truth with a little help from his friend Kirk Franklin in the song Pain bring to light how throughout history and in the Bible our Lord has purposed and accomplished his divine will in our periods of suffering. He also touches on the creation and the fall of man as a spectator looking in on Adam and Eve and the events that led up to the eating of the forbidden fruit through a track called Legend followed by another called Tree to Tree. The Big Picture production wise breaks new ground for Da Truth and the triple H scene alike with tracks like Great Wall where the problem of division in the body is discussed. This track intertwines Freddy Washington Jr's contemporary vocal style with Da Truth's sincere and intriguing verses to comprise a song appropriate gear towards all audiences to encourage believers as members of the body of Christ to look past simple differences and love one another. The Big Picture is filled with dance tracks that derive from a variety of genre's of music, this makes the album extremely unique and for this reason The Big Picture stands apart from Da Truths previous work. With the many subjects mentioned in this album I can only imagine the challenge of bringing it all together to complete this collection. In addition to a slew of up-tempo tracks you'll also find a couple of bangers as well as some tracks that require you to slow down and just contemplate the issues being spoken of. Da Truth's method of delivery is one that ensures the listener feel the urgency of the many issues that become threats to Christians in their individual walk and those that effect the body as a whole. You can hear emotion clearly in each verse on every song from the happy upbeat tracks to the deep thought eye opening ones. This is one of HHH's truly gifted artist but even more than that I appreciate Da Truth's heart and love for God's people. Let me explain, I respect the fact that even though he has the ability to just put together an album giving us more of the same and be more than successful but on the contrary he doesn't give us what he thinks we want but instead he gives us what was obviously laid on his heart and what we need. I love the fact that it seems as if he never misses an opportunity to reveal more of Christ through his music by making every word purposeful. Even in the track called My President where Da Truth references Young Jeezy for the purpose of pointing out the move of God's hand in the rise of our leaders just as in the days of Daniel and David. Even in the midst of all the hype and everything that's going on the focus of the song doesn't dwell on the hook and Obama but I like the fact that during the course of the song the focal point shifts and remains on the person of Christ. I gotta give it up people, you just can't knock good music, its the diversity and decision to not take the easy route and to dare to be different that really helped me get into and rate this project.

The Big Picture by Da Truth of Cross Movement records gets a five of five hipe hope headphones for its moving subject matter, heavy spiritual content, energetic delivery, diverse production and musical style. This ones gives listeners a truly unique experience from the past to the present time to reveal just a glimpse of God's big picture.

You Made - Da Truth

The Truth MySpace

© Hipe Hope Urban Gospel

Depicting the struggles that many Americans face, the video provides imagery that people can relate to and say to themselves, “Hold On.”

It's been a long time coming but if you still haven't picked up the Thrilla album, I'm about to do my best to convince you to get it as soon as possible. Mr. Del the man and minister behind the Holy South movement shows up in a big way to satisfy the thirst he left us with since The Hope Dealer and the Holy South Supremacy project. Thrilla, says it all in the name, its a roller coaster ride and the low points are solely there to build momentum to continue the ride so to speak. For those who don't know much about Mr. Del you can check him out on myspace and he if you missed it, DJ Wade-O did a recent interview with the man himself to speak on the Thrilla project. You can download the interview for free on the Wade-O podcast. I've been following Mr.Del before Hipe Hope even started and with every endeavor he finds a way to bring us something new. Now essentially Mr. Del's music is very consistent as far as why he does what he does and he is very good at it. Del is the name and krunk music is what he do. This album has what it takes to satisfy most, I want to say all but everyone has different tastes. But I must say that I believe that Thrilla must be the most versatile album Del has to date. There's like three or four different types of dance tracks on this album, you got snap dance tracks, hood dance tracks and house dance tracks. The other tracks on the project will of course make you move as well. Mr. Del reveals his heart, some of his past, and it reflects in the strength and in emotion of the music. I've lost track of how many albums Mr. Del has done but you just can't pass this up, you get twenty hot tracks all on one CD. The intro track Want It hits hard and really sets the tone for the rest of the project. It's sort of that sip of water that begins to quench the thirst I was talking about earlier. This track basically warns you of what your about to get into and what the music is about. It gives you a taste of his unique style which is one that bluntly speaks to whom it may apply with no apologies or regrets. Right out of the intro track is More Than a Conqueror, this track goes hard but I particularly enjoyed how much of the scripture he incorporated in it. It fit well with the feel of the song and makes you do a double take to make sure you got everything he put in it. From the third track on, Mr. Del kicks it off official with Crunk as Me asking the question is you crunk enough. It has kind of a long intro before you hit the first verse but that gives the listener time to get tired dancing so enjoy the lyrics spit. Nevertheless this doesn't stop me from enjoying the song. The next track the Panic Room features more of a rock feel with the structure of the hook but brings you back into the hip-hop side in the verse. Spread the Gospel featuring Mali Music is the first single released from the Thrilla project. Spread the Gospel gives you a little bit of a breather between all the krunkness. The title pretty much explains itself, the track focuses on being available and willing to to do GOD's work on all level's everywhere you go. Some other tracks that stand out from the mix in this project are This Is It, Step Forward, Don't Do It, and Run Away. I recommend that you make sure you have a great set of headphones or a nice system to get the full effect of this music, the production on every track is fire. Mr. Del never affords the listener a chance to get bored or stagnant because with of all the guest artist and change ups in music styles you'll stay hooked in from beginning to end. This collection of music surely has something for all hip-hop heads regardless of where your from. Thrilla is just that blood pumping hard hitting heart felt music, get it, blast it, love it.

Mr. Del's Thrilla gets a five out of five hipe hope headphones for spiritual content, crazy delivery, dope production, and diversity in a complete package.

Indescribable - Mr. Del Feat. The mixtape was released by Walk Right Ministries and is is labeled vol. 1 which leads one to believe there's more to come. The mixtape features DJ Jesus beats and brings together a slew of different artist from various genres and musical styles. From dance to krunk to R&P this mixtape made sure to include tracks to diversify the collection. With all the talent and word spit in the verses of these songs its pretty hard to believe it was free. Needless to say I was quite impressed and pleasantly surprised at the overall quality of the whole project. Its free, its definitely worth the time its takes to download check out the Bonded ( by truth, love ,and his blood ) mixtape presented by Walk Right music group featuring DJ Jesusbeats. To start it all off we'll get into the Son the King project from Chi-Town native and christian rap vet Viktory. The third installment of his career Son of the King follows two well put together collections his debut project Believe it now and the self titled album Viktory. Vik's ability to bring a street conscious swag while keeping the gospel at the forefront of his rhymes has given him countless opportunities to work and record with some of the best in the business such as Da Truth, Pettidee, Mark J, Canton Jones, Nureu Ink, Marvin Winans Jr. and Lisa Kimmey of Out of Eden and that's just to name a few. Viktory's delivery really captures the listener with the use of a very carefully selected word bank. like a book you may often find yourself catching new references while listening to a track you've heard countless times before. With his commanding voice tone and a straight forward true to life demeanor Viktory gives his audience a real life look at a secular world and illustrates how believers dwell in it without compromising their faith. The first single off the album On Fire is a very explosive mid tempo track dealing with being so on fire for the Lord that people you come in contact with, can feel his presence in such a way that it has a positive impact on their lives. If you haven't peeped out the video, it does a nice job of giving life to the theme of the song with the use of special effects and common urban scenario's like physical abuse, illegal drug activity and moral purity. Livin It is another track that's sure to catch your attention. Along with the theme of being the Son Of a King comes expectations on how you live and represent your place as someone set apart from the rest, and this song is all about living so that you reflect the light of the father with not only what you say, but with what you do as well. Viktory's take on the concept of letting your light shine sort of reminds me of Sho Baraka's Turn my life up in the sense that they're both pushing the display of living for Christ in the public eye. Though somewhat similar both takes are unique and both use clever word play to liken life with music and light. Though Vik's style can be laid back and smooth don't be fooled, Son of the King has more than its share of bangers. I won't spoil it all but if your looking for bangers you can look for these tracks, Livin It, On Fire, Soldier, What it Look Like feat. Canton Jones, and Get Hot. The rest I'll leave to you to explore. For you hip-hop heads who appreciate artistry and word play don't rule Viktory out on the count that some list him as a southern rapper because in my opinion he can hold his own in more than just that style of hip-hop. Son of the King is very fluid in terms of having a strong theme of living for Christ outside of the church and holding to that theme throughout the collection. The arrangement is strategic and well thought out. The project starts off with our moralistic duty to rep the faith at all cost, then it goes through temptation occurrences and situations that come up and challenge our efforts to live as Christ both carnally and spiritually. Viktory has put out and outstanding product that is spiritually up to par, and production wise the tracks are sick too, guest artist complement his music nicely and adds that extra touch to make tracks like Get Better feat. Lisa Kimmey and other tracks memorable tracks you'll be singing years down the road.

Viktory's Son of the King album gets four and a half hipe hope headphones for lyrical artistry, spiritual content, outstanding production, awesome and collaborations.

I Wanna go - Viktory ft. Mr. John Duncan is not a perfect man. For a long time he made music that was of the world. He knew that one day he would make music for the Lord. After nine years of composing poetry and music, it was his mother who urged him to step out on faith and try and compose a song for the Lord from his heart. In the past John, who recorded secular music under another name, made a religious song that was very inspirational, but dotted the line between Hip-Hop and Gospel. After a long conversation with his mother and thinking about the various prophecies of music over his life, Mr. John Duncan made the song "Enough 4 Me". This video was world premiered on BET's Video Gospel on May 3, 2009. It also aired on Hype & Glory on The Gospel Music Channel on June 5, 2009 and The Word Network July 27, 2009. Already this song has touched others, and it is the beginning of a new form of hip-hop gospel. Some people may not like it because they may not understand, but John's music will reach those souls that were once thought of as unreachable. Mr. John Duncan may be new to the Gospel genre, but he is no stranger to the music industry. He has over 5 musical albums under his belt, plus multiple artist features at www.blurimag.com, www.collegewire.net, www.the6fm.com and others sites as well. His first Gospel project, "The Prodigal Son", was released on April 14, 2009 and has already been an underground success. Recently, Mr. John Duncan released a free mix tape for all of his fans titled, “Christ Like”. On this mix tape he really tells his story from his downfall to his resurrection. The Lord blesses each one of his children with a special talent, and for Mr. John Duncan it's his music. Now, John believes it’s time to take his music to the next level and be a disciple for the Lord. Just listen and I guarantee you will feel the passion in his music.

John Duncan MySpace

© Hipe Hope Urban Gospel

Brothatone

What's up readers I know its been a while we've been busy with the addition to the Fam. Now that I'm back I want to start off with a new track from Pro entittled Bow Down. Thats right Pro is back with another southern banger. Also off the the redemption project Bow Down follows the well recieved single I'm Sorry. With strong brassy horns and a nicely integrated digital leads Bow Down is definately another CLE stamped anthem for the summer. Bow Down proclaims the true and matchless power and authority of Christ. We can all relate to people groups, and families who have been exalted in the eyes of the world and in some cases in there own eyes. Being in these positions can be very dangerous coming from a spiritual stand point. For two basic reasons this statement is true, one you should always be careful to give honor to the one who makes all things possible which is our Lord Jesus. For those who don't know him our Lord exersices his power and love by displaying his grace to those who unknowingly steal God's glory by taking credit for things they believe to have accomplished without the Lord's help. The second reason this can be a sketchy situation is for the fact that if you don't the real King you can't ever know your real position in the big picture of this life. Pro and featured artist BrothaTone did a great job of laying it all out plain and simple stating why they serve Christ the holy king and why everyone else should reverance and Bow Down to the most high.

Mynameispro.com

© Hipe Hope Urban Gospel
