We are designers to our core. In true design fashion, we color-coded our new sets of keys to printers’ inks: cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Snazzy key sets aren’t the real news, though — we’re moving! After 10 years on Walker Avenue, Hester Designs is moving less than four blocks away to 715 N. Hudson, Suite A. We’ll be open for business in the new digs on Monday, Dec. 3.

The new office has street-front visibility and easier access. Parking is available on the street and in our gated lot on the south side of Seventh between Walker and Hudson in designated visitor spaces.

As we move on Nov. 30 and Dec. 3, we may have phone and Internet interruption, but we will respond to your e-mails as soon as possible.

We’re so excited to kick off a new season of jammin’ design work for you in a great new space. As always, we’ll bring that excitement to all of your graphic design, marketing and communication projects.

Negative Google Results.

Recently we have helped a few friends that have been attacked by hackers. Their Web site was hacked into, and the result had a negative impact on their Google search results. One site had Viagra ad information show up under their search results (Pharma hack), and another had pages blocked by Google completely (Injection Hack). Although these cases are very rare, they can take a very long time to resolve. Sometimes this requires starting over on your Web site.

Why and How?

Hackers attack your computer through viruses and malware, which can not only scan your system for passwords but can actually track what you type. As in… you log in to your bank account and yes, now the hacker has your access information. So why target a Web site that isn’t that important? By targeting your Web site, hackers can gain access to your hosting server and then larger sites, more important information, etc. Some hackers just hack you because they can. This does not mean your Web site or your computer isn’t safe. Usually they are very safe. Remember these systems run on software and software must be kept up-to-date to keep security at its highest level.

What Can You Do?

1. Regularly back up your site. (You need this to refer back to if hacked)
2. Regularly log in to your dashboard and make sure WordPress and all Plug-Ins are up-to-date. (Prevents attacks)
3. Regularly change passwords to all your log-in accounts like WordPress, FTP, Hosting account, etc. (Prevents attacks)
4. Remove any “admin” user account to your site, and replace it with a new user account with strong passwords. (Prevents attacks)
5. You can take security measures described on the Internet as “hardening WordPress.” (Prevents attacks)
6. Virus scan your PCs and Mac computers regularly. (Prevents attacks)

We Can Make It Easy.

We have decided to offer two different packages that can make these preventative measures easier.

• Security Package – We will back up your Web site and save it to our archive, make sure everything is up-to-date, remove the “admin” account and install and set up the “Bullet Proof” plug-in. Cost is $200.
• WebSafe Discount Package – Sign up for a year of WebSafe backups, and for a limited time we will include the Security Package above. Cost is $45 per month, with a 12-month contract.

We must be clear: No solution is fool-proof, and the solutions above are no guarantee. Hackers will always be a problem to electronic data accessed over the Internet. But we feel that some preventative measures can save some very large headaches later. We hope you are already doing the six suggested steps and more to keep your site operating smoothly.

Westview has been helping boys since 1956 and provides a special place for boys from the ages of 12 to 18 who need guidance and love in their life. The imagery that Westview has used for so long is very powerful and shows a cowboy reaching down to help a young child. We really wanted to stay true to that image by just updating it with little more detail and new type treatment. What we designed was something we hope will be used to further the mission of Westview Boys Home for a long time to come.

Another large part of the update was a fresh web site design with a WordPress back-end to bring their online communication up-to-date.
