Important Debit Card Notice

Heritage South is proudly committed to the security of our members' debit cards and account information.
Occasionally, debit card information may be compromised by the mishandling of payment information by a merchant or payment processor, NOT by the credit union. When debit card information is compromised, it affects ALL financial institutions and each have their policies regarding the risk they want to allow their members or customers to be under in these cases.
To protect your account information, if your account has been determined that it may be affected by a mishandling of information by another entity, your debit card will be proactively captured to prevent fraudulent activity and you will be notified by a Heritage South employee.
To learn what it means when a debit card is 'compromised,' click here.
You can also search for "plastic card security breaches" on the internet to read more about recent debit card compromises.

We emphasize that the HSCU computers and servers have not been hacked and this is unrelated to the physical service outage from the morning of Saturday, June 22.

We apologize for the inconvenience however our actions are to proactively protect the funds in your account from fraudulent activity.
You may come by any branch to reorder your debit card. If you come to the main office on 280, you can receive it the same day. If you go to the Broadway Ave or Childersburg 280 locations, you can receive a new debit card as early as the next business day.

If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to call our Call Center at 256-245-4776.

Same Towns. Similar Names. A World Apart.

Recently, Frontier Bank was bought by a bank in Georgia that just happens to have a name very similar to ours. So now we have two financial institutions with "Heritage" and "South" in their names serving the same communities.
But that's where the similarity ends.
They are a bank.
Their headquarters are in another state.
They answer to stockholders who expect them to make as much money as possible from their customers and no matter what you name a bank, it's still not a credit union.

Heritage South Credit Union has been a part of your community, serving your friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens for over 78 years. Our financial decisions are made locally, with the best interests of our community and members in mind.
We're owned by our members and that's where our loyalty lies.
We're not-for-profit, so the money we make is passed on to our members in the form of lower rates and better services. It's a BIG difference.

So if your bank has changed ownership, maybe it's time you became an owner.
After all, it's your Heritage.
