Winter hydro line maintenance

As with all of Ontario Hydro's lines running through the wilderness of Northwestern Ontario, right-of-way maintenance was a major concern. Deadfalls, hangovers, washouts and other problems had to be discovered and repaired.

The proposed Conawapa generating station on the Nelson River was located approximately 18 miles downstream from the Limestone station. Midwest Helicopters was there with a Bell 206.

I discovered this pay scale, so I thought I'd post it to remind us all what we were worth almost 37 years ago. I suspect that there were variations to these rates, depending on the negotiations.

Citroën 2CV

I have fond memories of the vehicle I used while I was in Djibouti--a Citroen 2CV, or deux chevaux as it is popularly called. It was produced (with variants) from 1942 to 1990, with a 375cc engine producing a mind-numbing 12 horsepower.

Viking’s African adventures began in 1973

In 1973, Viking Helicopters made application to the East African Civil Aviation Board to operate in Tanzania. Approval was granted in the same year. The Kenya Gazette provided the details of the application.
