This seems very self-serving by the AAHC. While better coordination is needed, having an all-to-powerful inside-the-beltway additional bureaucracy will be expensive, inefficient, and not representative of the needs of the various constituencies who will actually be impacted by this group. There are better models out there. This one is stuck in stone ages and only serves to further the interest of academic health centers...not the majority of health care employers out there who serve the greatest number of patients. I for, one, hope CONGRESS DOES NOT APPROVE OF THIS RECOMMENDATION. IT WILL BE COSTLY AND INEFFICIENT.

This is so infuriating! And if everything you've explained and cited isn't convincing already, "health insurance industry insider" (and "whistle-blower") Wendell Potter called the Baucus plan a "gift to the insurance industry" (http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2009/09/15/potter-baucus/).

At least Baucus's isn't the only bill around -- and at least the dissent within his committee (and party -- http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezra-klein/2009/09/whats_wrong_with_the_finance_c.html and http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezra-klein/2009/09/whats_wrong_with_the_finance_b.html e.g.) should prove powerful enough to prevent an unabridged version from making significant headway... (hopefully)
