how Clinton's library is funded? The Library Board of Trustees invites you to a public forum to discuss the financial workings of your public library.

A presentation by chef and chocolate expert Maria Brandriff on the health benefits of chocolate will be offered at the Henry Carter Hull Library on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11:00 am. With the holidays over and the time for over-indulging behind us, we naturally begin to focus on healthy eating and exercise.

But can you have your cake (or to be more precise, your chocolate) and eat it, too? It just may be possible! Brandriff's talk will focus on dark chocolate and its newly discovered health benefits. Discover how dark chocolate can be used both in lighter healthier desserts and in savory courses. There will be samples and recipes.

Only a few spaces remain for Celebrating Acceptance, a program for Abraham Pierson students on Wednesday, December 7 at noon. Girls and boys will be treated to lunch, followed by their chance to perform in a reader's theater production of Julia's Star. This program is made possible through a collaboration of the library with Clinton Youth and Family Services and the Anti-Defamation League. Students will learn about tolerance, cultural awareness and how curiosity, friendship, knowledge and trust can overcome prejudice. Register at www.hchlibrary.org.

Peggy Abbott has done it again! She's created and donated two Halloween Candy Buckets to the library. Tickets are $1.00 each, six for $5.00. And because she's the mommy of adorable Darren, she's also given kids of all ages a chance to guess the number of candy corn in the jars. No cost to guess. Winners will be announced on 10/26. Such a sweet, seasonal way to support your library!
