On not going to college...
"I spend so much time with the brightest and most talented and well-rounded people. Hayden Panettiere Speaks out About the Taiji Slaughter

Over the last two weeks, there has been a lot of misleading and confusing information being reported from Taiji Japan. Some reports went as far to say the brutal dolphin drive fisheries had ended for good. Some stated that no dolphins had been killed at all. Others reported that all the captured dolphins had been freed. I wish that this were all true, but sadly, this is not the case.

The brutal Taiji dolphin hunts officially started again on September 9th when thirteen fishing boats left Taiji’s harbor around 5:30AM and located a large group of about 100 bottlenose dolphins and 50 pilot whales, which they promptly surrounded and drove them into the capture nets.

The fisherman then brutally slaughtered all the pilot whales, which are members of the dolphin family, the larger cousins of the bottlenose dolphins, and are also, ironically, the same species that were being slaughtered in Taiji nearly 2 years ago when I along with 5 other activists including fellow Whaleman Foundation and Save the Whales Again! Campaign spokesperson’s Isabel Lucas and Dave Rastovich, paddled out in the blood filled waters. Last week, the tranquil emerald waters of Taiji’s notorious killing cove, a Japanese National Park, were once again turned blood red.

The news concerning the bottlenose dolphins was not as grim. Of the 100 or so captured, about 30 were selected for sale to captive marine parks for as much as $150,000 each while the fisherman, for the first time ever, released the other 70 bottlenose dolphins back into the wild this past weekend, sparring their lives for now.

But there has been no official end to the hunts and this may have been only a one-time gesture by the fisherman to relieve some of the international pressure and outrage they are getting due to our collective actions starting 2 years ago and being yet gain intensified with the release of the documentary film “The Cove”.

Even though the release of some of the bottlenose is a good first step, we must not overlook the fact that the fisherman brutally slaughtered all 50 of the captured pilot whales and the 30 or so captured dolphins that are to be sold into captivity will see their average lifespan shortened from 30 - 40 years in the wild to surviving less than 6 years in captivity.

Getting this information out to the public at large while educating and getting this information out to the Japanese people is key. Most Japanese citizens do not know about these hunts and the fact that over 20,000 dolphins and porpoises are being slaughtered every year by Japanese fisherman because the Japanese Government is suppressing this information.

Even though Taiji has received the most attention where over 2,000 dolphins are killed each year, nearly 18,000 Dall’s porpoise are slaughtered in the brutal Japanese offshore harpoon hunts every year which unfortunately gets very little attention, so we hope to change that starting right now! Dall’s porpoise are so cute, they look like little killer whales, and we need to stop their needless slaughter as well as end the Taiji slaughter.

Also, most Japanese are also unaware that dolphins, whales, and porpoises are the most contaminated animals on the planet.

Their meat is highly contaminated with Mercury, DDT, Dioxin, and other contaminates and is unhealthy for human consumption, with pilot whales being one of the most contaminated. Extremely high levels of mercury have been shown to cause birth defects, neural damage, and even death so they should not be slaughtering any of these amazing creatures for food.

I’m not going to rest until we stop all dolphin and porpoise hunting and end commercial whaling but I can’t do it with out your help so please organize all your friends, family, and classmates and get them to sign our petition and support The Whaleman Foundation, and if you haven’t seen The Cove, go see it! The time to act is now!! Its time to Save the Whales Again!!

I've seen this interview posted in a few different places, but I'm not sure what the original source is. At any rate, check out Hayden Panettiere talking about how much she loves being naked.

Hayden Panettiere gets "buck-naked" with her best friend.

The actress - who has previously dated her 'Heroes' co-star Milo Ventimiglia and British TV presenter Steve Jones - wanders around her home in the nude and is often caught by her roommate.

She said: "The last person to see me naked was my stylist. But it's usually my roommate, who is my best friend - she sees me buck-naked all the time. She walks in and I'm like, 'Look, I'm naked! Naked girl!'

"I've had so many embarrassing moments. You name it, I've done it. I'm always falling on my face!"

Although she is content with her body, Hayden admits she can be jealous of other people and it is one of her worst features.

The 19-year-old beauty explained: "I hate it whenever I feel envy or jealous in any respect. It's such a terrible feeling, and such a silly thing to feel."

The teenage starlet - who is currently believed to be single - recently admitted she is most attracted to confident men who can cope with her celebrity status.

She explained: "I like guys who are confident but not cocky. There is a type of confidence that you know isn't fake or put on because that person is secure in themselves. I find that very attractive and sexy.

"It's important that someone can handle the type of life I lead too, which is all about cameras and people making stories up about you. That can make people feel both angry and insecure, which can ruin a relationship."

I just saw our first look at the new promo poster for Volume 5/Season 4. Personally, I think it looks like a bad Photoshop of three of the Season 3 posters - why does Hayden's lower half look like a cartoon? I really hated that picture of Hayden Panettiere the first time around, and I don't like it any more now. What do you think?

Here's a new interview with Hayden Panettiere from Mirror UK.

"Hayden Panettiere has just finished a photo shoot. She looks stunning, of course, not that we get to see her for long – in fact, she runs off as soon as we walk into the room. Hollywood diva moment? Not likely. A few minutes later, a dressed-down Hayden returns in a pair of comfy jeans and a sweater. ‘I feel a lot more relaxed now,’ she says, getting settled on the sofa.

The actress, who’s 20 this week, is best known for her role as Heroes cheerleader Claire Bennet, but today she is talking to us to coincide with her new film, I Love You, Beth Cooper. Room service arrives and in-between tiny mouthfuls of food, a tanned Hayden opens up about her experience of living in the spotlight in Hollywood and her unfortunately misspelt tattoo…

There is lots of talk of you dating our very own Welsh lothario Steve Jones. What’s the story there?
I love that the press got a picture of us getting onto a boat – which is when I gave Steve a hug to say hello – and now everyone thinks we’re dating. Steve is a great guy and he’s really, really nice, but it’s weird that I can smile at someone and it gets reported that I’m dating them.

Is he the kind of guy you could fall for?
Well, I’m really into personalities. I’m not saying that looks aren’t important, but you can be physically attracted to a person and if they haven’t got the personality to go with it, then forget it. In my position I have to date very secure guys too. It’s just one of those things.

Do you get chatted up a lot?
I guess I get chatted up a fair amount. I’m very guarded, so it depends on where I am or what I’m doing because I can shy away very quickly.

Do guys use cheesy chat-up lines on you?
I have had some really cheesy lines. I don’t know if there’s a worst one because they’re all pretty bad, but the perfume one cracks me up. It’s when a man knows what perfume you’re wearing and he tells you about it. Guys, that line is not funny.

Is it tough to have a relationship in the spotlight?
Absolutely. It’s tough to do anything in the spotlight. It’s tough to be yourself in the spotlight, and it’s tough to be in a position where people think it’s OK to judge you when they don’t even know you.

You got papped in your bikini in France, which is when it was discovered the tattoo on your back is misspelt (Hayden’s tattoo reads ‘Vivere senza rimipianti’ – ‘Live without regrets’ in Italian – but there’s one too many i’s). Was that embarrassing for you?
[Laughs] Me and my misspelt tattoo! You know what? I can’t blame anyone but myself. I figured I wouldn’t get bored of it because I couldn’t see it, but because I didn’t see it, I didn’t notice the mistake until nine months later. What are you going to do, though? Stranger things have happened.

Didn’t you double-check the spelling before you went for the tattoo?
I thought I’d asked enough people and triple-checked. But it is just one letter out, I think it’s an easy fix. I think it’s kind of funny too. How typical! As soon as I realised, I couldn’t stop telling people and everyone would bust up laughing.

So you’re taking the full blame?
Yes. I guess I wrote it down wrong. Oops. Luckily, it’s only an ‘i’ that’s wrong, so if I get the dot of the ‘i’ removed, it will be fine. Every tattoo is unique, so I put my own twist on this one. I like to do things differently.

Are you still having fun on Heroes?
I love Heroes, so I’m really looking forward to going back. What’s in store in the new series? I honestly don’t know. I haven’t even read my first script yet because I just got it. The only thing I know is Claire’s in college, which should be fun.

And what can you tell us about your new movie?
It’s a comedy set in a high school, and it’s really cool. It’s called I Love You, Beth Cooper and it’s got a great feel-good script. I had a lot of fun on this one. I jumped at the chance to be involved.

Why did you choose to tackle a comedy movie?
To be able to do a comedy was fun because I don’t want to be typecast. I find it very difficult in this industry not to get typecast, especially looking the way I do. I Love You, Beth Cooper came along at the perfect time and it worked out well because I wanted to do something different to Heroes.

You’ve had so much success at such a young age. How do you keep grounded?
It’s hard to find the separation where work ends and my personal life begins because it’s a very blurred line. Work is something that follows me home at night. It doesn’t go away. It’s not like I can leave the office and don’t get to be this person any more.

Do you enjoy being in the spotlight?
When you’re doing it for work it can be fun, but in my personal time I don’t want to go out where I’m going to be met with cameras. I do go out occasionally. I have friends who like to go out and party, but I would much rather bring a group of friends to my house or somewhere I know I can let my guard down. It’s not fun for me until I can let my guard down.

Do you ever get starstruck on the Hollywood scene?
Not any more. Well, I say that but I did get star struck recently. I met George Clooney and I love him to bits. He’s such a normal guy and I had such a fun time chatting to him. I met him at a friend’s house. It’s crazy how things like that happen all the time in LA.

Does this mean you bump into A-listers like Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham all the time?
I’ve met almost everyone there is to meet, even if it’s just been a quick hello. I’ve got to chat to some really cool people. I haven’t met Katie, but I’ve met Victoria. She is very sweet and very funny. Victoria has a self-deprecating sense of humour, which is so charming. I mean, she’s Posh Spice.

How to get Hayden’s cheerleader look
I try to get facials as often as I can, and I also drink lots of water. I have a treadmill in my living room, but I’ve not been a very good girl in that territory. I try to watch what I eat and I use a couple of tricks I’ve learned. Before every meal, I drink a glass of water and wait 10 minutes. This is supposed to start your metabolism, so when you eat, your metabolism is already going. I also try to eat slowly because you don’t realise how full your body is until 20 minutes later. I generally have breakfast as my biggest meal of the day, and I don’t eat past a certain hour, although I’m not strict with these rules."
