On Saturday, the 4th of September we are open from 10am to 3pm. We’ll be closing two hours early because our Tanja will be getting married in the Cabriere cellar later in the evening.

On Sunday we are open from 10am to 5pm.

Freshly Ground are Fans

The Freshly Ground lead singer recently declared herself a huge fan of Haute Cabrière. We think this is great because, as luck would have it, we are also big fans of Freshly Ground.

They were out to visit us, just before the World Cup, with Top Billing so you might have caught something about it on TV? It was a wonderful day filled with fun, laughter, the very best views in Franschhoek, Pierre Jourdan and - of course - sabrage.

The 2007 Haute Cabriere Pinot Noir

The Haute Cabrière Pinot Noir 2007 has finally been released and we can see all you Pinot lovers breathing a collective sigh of relief.

Achim has described this Pinot Noir as “an enticing wine with concentrated aromas of ripe cherries, seducing the palate and lingering long in the mouth. The overall impression is of even more elegance than the 2006 vintage, the unmistakable Haute Cabrière style.”

An Amazing Story

The most recent winner of the Haute Cabrière, Pierre Jourdan and Me competition lives in Belgium and apparently he got the idea (of entering the competition) from our very own Zoë von Arnim.

Apparently Zoë - who together with her husband Koen does a phenomenal job of promoting the family brand overseas -  met the group at an Antwerp wine event on the eve of their departure to South Africa; and it was there that she suggested they enter the competition.

Isn’t that just phenomenal?

Takuan in Belgium

This week Takuan is in Belgium visiting Zoë and Koen. While he is there they will be hosting a dinner to promote our wines.

This intimate dinner will give our Belgian wine lovers an opportunity to connect with our cellar master (Takuan) around a table full of delicious food designed to complement, and enhance, the flavours of the wines.

Cabriere at Ardeonaig Hotel

Takuan is on holiday but he has found time to fit in a few Cabriere related activites. He has hosted two dinners, with our wines, at the Ardeonaig Hotel in Scotland.

The hotel is owned by a South African - Pete Gottgens - who now resides in Scotland. Pete is an exceptional chef, he started the very popular Fishhoek Restaurant in London and has cooked on many occasions for Nelson Mandela and other dignitaries. Pete also happens to be a huge fan of our wines.

If Takuan’s latest comments, which include “Scotland loves our wines and loves me…”, are anything to go by he’s having a wonderful and very successful trip.

Franschhoek Bastille 2010 Feedback

I think that my brother Tamo, our Cape Town Haute Cabriere ambassador, summed-up this past Bastille festival best … ”it was wild, it was fun and it was the most celebratory Franschhoek Bastille Festival ever! There were moments when I felt as if I was back in France in Springtime. Add to that the feeling of celebrating Madiba’s birthday and it was an experience impossible to beat!”

In fact over the weakend we enjoyed terrific Pierre Jourdan sales and, as one friend remarked, it looked like every Bastille visitor had a bottle of Pierre Jourdan in her / his hand.
