The latest stats from Net Applications compare the user base of iOS, Android and Linux users browsing the internet. Apparently, the iOS users have now surpassed the Linux users making iOS the third most popular operating system in the world after Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OSX.

The stats reveal that the users on iOS based devices have seen a sharp increase in the previous months, making the iOS users more than the users of Linux and Android combined. The graphs also reveal that the number of users have seen a hike after the release of Apple iPhone 4 and iPad from Apple which have made browsing even easier on mobile platforms. In August 2010, iOS had a 1.13% share, Linux had 0.85% while Android stood at a bare 0.20%. However these numbers does not reflect the number of devices sold with these operating systems but the users that are browsing the web.

According to the Net Application’s Vice President:

“It’s something to take note of when a mobile operating system passes something that’s been around forever. Mobile’s growth curve is strong and mobile is becoming quite a phenomenon on the Internet”

One can combine the iOS and Mac OSX, and Linux and Android in a single category as they use similar kernels. However technology giant Microsoft is no where to be seen. Let’s see if the Windows Phone 7 manages to capture the iOS realm.

Brad Pitt has announced this week that he may be playing the role of John Marston in upcoming movie based on Red Dead Redemption video game. John Marston is the hero in this cowboy shoot-em-up game available on the PS3 and X-box. According to sources the idea is to make it in the style of an epic Western movie with a few modern touches.

The story of red dead redemption begins in 1911, near the end of the ‘wild west’ era , in which John Marston is forced by the government to hunt down and kill his ex-gang members. The story itself would make a great movie but as we know movies of games usually do not go down well with the cinema going public. Take the game Hitman for example, it was transformed into a movie in 2007 and received mostly negative reviews from critics. But could Red Dead Redemption be any better? After all it does have a solid story line, strong characters and an epic setting to prove itself.

Brad Pitt will also make a good cowboy after staring in the film The Assassination of Jesse James. But would he make a good John Marston is the question I find myself asking. In my eyes, Brad Pitt does not have the attitude or presence that John Marston has. There may be others out there who are right for the part such as Sean Bean who stared in the TV series Sharpe or even Viggo Mortensen. If only John Wayne were still alive.

Creators of the next installment of Call of Duty, Treyarch, have announced that they will be releasing a Hardened and a Prestige edition for the new game Call of Duty: Black Ops. Being an owner of the Modern Warfare 2 Prestige edition, and very pleased with the night vision goggles that come with it, I really wanted to find out what would be inside Call of Duty: Black Ops prestige and hardened editions.

To no one’s disappointment, the hardened edition comes with a Limited Edition Black Ops collectors medal with display case, 4 extra cooperative maps, a PlayStation Home or Xbox Live Avatar outfit and a special-edition Steel-book Case. The Prestige edition will have, in addition to all those collectibles that comes with hardened, a fully functional remote control RC-XD surveillance vehicle that is an exact replica of the one that you will be using in the game.

The game is due for release on the November 9, 2010 in the US and EU. You have to pay $79.99 for hardened and $149.99 for prestige edition as opposed to $59.99 for the regular game. Keep in mind that prestige is the limited edition, you can only pre-order while the supplies last.

One of the hottest features in iPhone 4 is the FaceTime video call capability which actually gives a flawless experience to video chat over Wi-Fi or even 3G. However the feature needs to be activated before it can be used which is not possible for those who rely on an unlock to run the iPhone with an unofficial carrier of their choice, including T-Mobile.

MiTime is a new application for iPhone which activates the FaceTime feature with carriers other than AT&T. However the application relies on sending and receiving International SMS (see below) for which it doesn’t come free of cost. If you are willing to spend $5.99 to enable FaceTime on your device, read through to download and install MiTime.

Note: In order to install the MiTime app, you first need to purchase the application. Please follow the instructions on the purchase page to correctly enter your data. It is better to read the whole guide before making the purchase to avoid any inconvenience.

After you’ve purchased the MiTime application, run Cydia and go to Source and add the following repository: http://cydia.pushfix.info

Now search for MiTime from Cydia and install it to your iPhone.

In order to correctly enter your phone number, check it in Setting -> Phone. If you’re outside the US, you need to enter the ‘+’ symbol and the complete phone number to continue. Do not continue if your phone number is not correct or does not match the number you entered in the purchase page.

Now run the MiTime application and if it says it is “Ready for Activation”, tap the Activate button and wait for a response for atleast 15 minutes. If a response is not received with-in 15 minutes, reboot your device to try again.

The response should come in usually 1 minute, and the app will show “Activated” after you’ve received the response. After this stage, you’re good to go.

In case you’re facing any problem setting up the MiTime application, you can head over to the instructions page.

The process of installing this new app and get it up and running is as simple as any other Cydia application. Follow the steps below to download and install the vWallpaper app.

Note: This application is only available for jailbroken idevices running iOS 4.x or iOS 3.x.

Run Cydia from your iPhone and tap on the Manage tab.

Now touch the Sources option and then Edit to Add a new source.

Enter the URL http://i.danstaface.net/deb and select Add Source.

After the sources are updated, search for vWallpaper and install this application.

Now run the application directly to choose a particular live wallpaper, or download more.
