I gave this short talk today at The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, IVA. It was addressed to their excellent Mentor4Research program and their group of mentors and researchers. Here are my simple slides and speaker notes: E-health as a trend: 2 driving forces and 1 catalyst &#160; Driving force 1: Health care Health screening online for faster and better disease identification. Today: Feel symptom &#62; Google &#62; get worried &#62; go to primary care &#62; be referred to a specialist. Takes a long time! With a good screening service you get faster remittance to the right specialist Benefits: [...]<div class="feedflare">

Tomorrow I will go to Amsterdam to attend the second annual Quantified Self Europe conference. Quantified Self is a strange term that few understand, and I think it will stay that way. But I am convinced that the tools and services that are emerging from the QS movement will soon be integrated into our lives and taken for granted, not least in the health care sector. That&#8217;s why I enjoy attending events like this, it is a taste of the future! My feeling is that the QS movement is at the same stage as in the late 70s when Steve [...]<div class="feedflare">

I often work with usability in online development projects, but I very often also notice counter-productive hardware design wherever I go. I can&#8217;t help wondering what the hardware designers were thinking of and if they ever tested it on humans before release? Example from my local gym: they just installed new sinks in the dressing rooms. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful new water tap with a bright red ring of lights on top: &#160; I then tried to fill my water bottle under this tap, for my upcoming spinning class. I started to look for how to [...]<div class="feedflare">

LeWeb 2012 I have just attended my third LeWeb internet conference in Paris, my two previous were in 2007 and 2008. I was lured back to LeWeb due to their theme for this year: &#8220;Internet of Things&#8221;, a rapidly growing sector that I think will affect our society and businesses just as much as the current Internet has done so far, and where I see many new business development possibilities. I am somewhat overwhelmed with impressions from my three intense days here, so this will only be some tidbits of what I found interesting and some feedback on the conference [...]<div class="feedflare">

The first issue of Wired magazine from 1993, now free on iPad I was very happy to see that Wired magazine has published its iconic inaugural issue on the iPad as a free download. I stumbled on the premiere issue at the Design museum in London, when I attended a HyperCard User Group meeting as a representative of my own company Ahead Multimedia AB. One of the organizers of this meeting was the TV journalist Max Whitby, who then run the Multimedia Corporation, a BBC company in London. Max had written an article in the premiere issue: &#8220;Is interactive dead?&#8221; (Check [...]<div class="feedflare">

The goal of the seminar, as stated by the moderator Magnus Melander was to highlight many new types of uses for M2M solutions that exist today.<div class="feedflare">

I confess: I have never been interested in football, never go to see games, don&#8217;t read sports news. But when the famous Swedish player Zlatan released his book I bought it since I felt that his life story was interesting. And indeed, I found his story captivating, especially his descriptions of all the drama on the field when he makes all these incredible goals. Since I have never seen Zlatan play on TV either, I immediately missed seeing pictures in the book. And the next thought was of course &#8220;Why is there no ebook version of this with pictures and [...]<div class="feedflare">

Sometimes it is a bit hard to be an early adopter. But I like testing new things and I have a good track record for spotting successes and failures very early based on my first tests. I am using my bicycle every day, all year round in Stockholm and love it. So I was naturally intrigued when I read about the upcoming &#8221;invisible bike helmet&#8221; Hövding a year ago. It is an airbag contained in a collar around your neck. It is activated by motion control sensors when you are falling off your bike and inflates all around your head, offering radically better [...]<div class="feedflare">

updated Sep 3, 2011 The big discussion around ebooks is usually: Should ebooks be cheaper than printed books? This is the wrong question! The pricing of printed books and ebooks: two fundamentally different ways to charge for content Buying an e-book cannot be compared to buying a printed book: You buy a paper book. Then you own it, it&#8217;s yours. You don&#8217;t own the file that you paid for and downloaded. You cannot give it away and you can certainly not sell [...]<div class="feedflare">
