My method is different. I do not rush into actual work. When I get a new idea, I start at once building it up in my imagination, and make improvements and operate the device in my mind. When I have gone so far as to embody everything in my invention, every possible improvement I can think of, and when I see no fault anywhere, I put into concrete form the final product of my brain. ~ Nikola Tesla

Ever hear of Nicola Tesla?

In short, he believed that energy could be passed from one object to another without wires. He proved it many times in a lab by generating power to a light bulb more than 7 feet away without the use of wires. He believed that the energy of brainwaves could be used to affect the world and reality. In other words, he believed you could tap into the natural energy of the Earth to affect an intended target.

I’m sharing this with you not only because it’s interesting, but because I believe using the power of your brainwaves can help you reach your desired goals.

I have learned that there are basically four types of brain waves:

Beta (alert, working)
Alpha (relaxed, reflecting)
Theta (drowsy, daydreaming)
Delta (sleep, dreaming, or even dreamless sleep).

Alpha waves are most interesting. When our brains generate Alpha waves, we are virtually on the same ‘wavelength’ as the Earth. So, in a sense, when we are in a relaxed, reflective state, we are we are ‘one’ with the Earth.

Cool, huh?

Theta waves are where creativity is born. When we are in a daydream state, we can come up with our most creative ideas. Tesla’s quote above implies that when we are in a drowsy, daydreaming state, we can come up with our best thoughts, plans and goals.

Some of the best ways to reach these brain states are through meditation, sitting quietly and relaxing, or simply allowing your mind to get quiet, still and just be.

In these relaxed, empty places, Alpha waves connect the Theta and Beta states.

When most people daydream, they start in a Theta state, then jump straight into Beta without allowing Alpha waves to make important connections. Tesla, on the other hand, suggests we start daydreaming in Theta, then reflect and consider in Alpha before we move to the active Beta state. Allow your mind to dream, reflect, ponder and then take action to reach your goals.

For example, how often do you daydream about your goals in weight loss? Do you sit and daydream about what you will do when you are thin and healthy? Where will you go? What will you wear? Will you do your hair differently? Is it a different color? Will you be in another city? Will you have another job? Will you be with a partner?

Active daydreaming means seeing yourself as if what you dream about is already a reality. This type of thought allows your Theta and Alpha waves to think outside of the box. Your mind’s eye can envision a whole new reality before you even take the first step.

I challenge you to think like Tesla: Construct your life in your daydreams as a thin, healthy person. Include all aspects of your life that will change once you reach your goal weight. Work out the kinks in your mind by allowing your Alpha and Theta states to wander. See the end picture and envision all those things that you imagine would make you happy. See your life working effortlessly. Spend a day in that life, from waking to sleeping; what would you be doing differently?

Spend at least 10 minutes a day allowing your daydream come to life in your mind.

If you can dream it, you can achieve it. Like Tesla, allow your active daydreams to manifest a new reality.

Use the energy in your mind to create the results you want in the outside world. Before you know it, your inner light, like Tesla’s light bulb, will shine, effortlessly.

I would love for you to share what your mind’s eye created!!!

Happiness is a choice that you make from within.

Choosing to be happy is like finding a new pair shoes. When you go out to buy a new pair of shoes, you want them to fit well, feel good, look great and make a statement about who you are.

You wouldn’t choose new shoes that feel uncomfortable and look bad. So why would you choose emotions that make you feel as if you are wearing the wrong shoes?

Is there someone in your life who makes you feel unhappy or angry? That’s natural. We are only human, after all. It’s not wrong to feel angry or upset. The problems arise when you dwell on the bad feelings or when you allow your anger to simmer for too long.

Deciding to find something to be happy about after you find yourself in the middle of anger can be beneficial. By acknowledging your anger, then choosing to move on, you become the one in control – not the other person, not your emotions – YOU.

When you are in control of your choices, you are more likely to act rather than REact. More often than not, reactions are based in fear. Reactions are your natural defense mechanisms that you have created to protect yourself. But, they only serve you when you are mindful of your choices.

By choosing to find something to be happy about, you are taking back control.

We can all always choose happiness.

Need some tips?

Enjoy the little things – I find no greater joy in life than watching my child smile. The only thing that can top that is when I know I was somehow responsible for that smile! There is plenty of potential in the world around you, take time to notice the small stuff.

Be around happy people – Moods and feelings are extremely contagious. Choose to hang around people who are always happy. It will rub off on you.

Embrace change – Some people get unnerved with the thought of change; however, change happens whether we want it to or not, so it is best to practice being open and flexible with the possibility of change.

Be grateful – Focus on the small things in life you are grateful for. Once you start noticing all the abundance in your life, it’s amazing how more wonderful things will pop into your day that will give you more reasons for being grateful.

SLEEP – I cannot stress this enough: Sleep is so important on so many different levels. A well-rested person is a HAPPY person. Prioritize your need for sleep.

Imitate kids – take time out to observe small children. They love life and they live it daily to the fullest. They have no idea that they have limitations, and they are willing to try almost anything. Children run, jump, laugh and are perpetually happy. Strip off all of your perceived limitations and enjoy life with them!

Choosing to be happy doesn’t mean that you don’t get weighed down periodically by the enormity of a situation. Life will throw you a few curves balls. But, when you choose to find the good and to be happy, you put your focus on the things that fit your life, that bring you joy, and that feel good.

Like an awesome looking new pair of shoes!

Picture this:

You are standing in a checkout line in the grocery store, glancing at all the magazines, and suddenly you feel like they are staring back at you. All you see are gorgeous models with perfect bodies and faces. You start to feel self-conscious and ashamed of your body. And you are certain that other people are also comparing your body to the flawless ones in the magazines.

Yeah, in that moment, your body image tanked.

How you see your body, and more importantly, how you believe others see your body, affects how you feel about yourself. And get this — how you FEEL about your body cannot be separated from how you TREAT your body. Your feelings about yourself affect how you fuel it and the movements you ask it to do.

Having a positive body image doesn’t mean you love EVERYTHING about your body. However, it does mean that you have a healthy self-identity. You appreciate positive changes you can make, and you enjoy life in the moment instead of waiting for when you are a perfect weight, size, shape, etc…

When You Look in the Mirror, What Do You See?

Is the image the REAL you? Or is it distorted?

I received the following note from one of my clients one morning … THANKS JT!

I have been learning the importance of mirrors.

Since I lived as a heavier person most of my life, I learned early on to avoid mirrors.

Sure, I had full length mirrors in my home, however, when I looked into them, I concentrated on looking only at my face and hair and not at the full body image – my locked-in image was that of a full body, HEAVY person, and I didn’t want to be reminded.

As I have reached a healthier weight, I have found the need to UNLOCK the old full body image and replace it with the new. I need to bring back out those full length mirrors and REALLY take a TRUE look a full length view, not just for hair and makeup, but what my body has become.

It’s a learning process. I now have a full length mirror that is in my Bus/RV that I can stand back far enough away to TRULY see my NEW body – reprogramming that old body image to what is really there.

The Rear View Mirror

When you are driving a car, you depend on your rear view mirror to help you make safe, purposeful decisions. That mirror needs to be clear — free of dirt and free of broken glass — because that’s the only way you can see a true reflection of what’s behind you.

Think about it: In your car, can you use only the rear view mirror to move forward?

No. You must look away from what’s behind you and concentrate on the road ahead.

Your body image is like that reflection in the rear view mirror. What you see may be distorted, broken, or unclear due to dirt that’s accumulated over time. An unclear review mirror will affect how you see the reality of the scenes behind you.

How much time do you spend looking in the review mirror?

To move forward, you cannot concentrate on what is behind you. You must look ahead at what’s happening right now.

Where do you start?

First, believe that your body CAN change – Remind yourself how far you have come, already. Celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how small.

Second, believe that even small steps bring BIG change – Lasting change comes from a lot of little steps strung together.

Finally, believe that body image comes from more than just weight changes – Our body image includes how we relate to other people, how we allow our thoughts to affect our moods and how we interact in social situations.

Sticking to your plan when it gets difficult, resisting temptations, and not allowing yourself to fall into old patterns of eating, thinking and living are all non-scale victories worth celebrating.

I like to celebrate non-scale victories most when dealing with The hCG Protocol.

When you celebrate a non-scale victory, the change is more lasting and meaningful because you have proven to yourself that you can succeed. And, most importantly, you know who you are is much more than a number on a scale.

Share one of your non-scale victories below!!!
