Wendy’s Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger Coming Later this Year

Arby’s recently impressed us with its use of King’s Hawaiian buns and now Wendy’s has plans on going with the pretzel bun to catch our interest. 2013 looks to be the year of a fast food trend to add some interesting variety to sandwich buns. Back in December I received an email from a reader in regards to a Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger being offered at Wendy’s in Garfield Heights. Ohio. The test market burger was being sold for $4.49 and $6.49 for the combo meal. Today Darren Rovell tweets a picture of the bacon cheeseburger with the pretzel bun… “Analyst: Wendy’s will roll out its Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger nationally this year.” Take a look:

Additionally, the NBA has teamed up with Taco Bell to create a variety of NBA Big Boxes such as the Beefy Crunch Burrito Box and Doritos Locos Tacos (DLT) Box, as well as using their existing Variety Taco 12 packs, to share a QR code for exclusive NBA related content. The suggested retail price for all boxes is $5.00. Beefy Crunch Burrito, Crunchwrap Supreme, Crunchy Taco and Medium drink for $5? How can the Wendy’s Moonlight Meal Deal compete with that?

Carl’s Jr. calls it the Super Bacon Cheeseburger and Hardee’s calls it the Super Bacon Thickburger, but whatever you call it, it’s a nice looking burger. The latest from Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s is the promotional grub to go alongside Man of Steel out June 14th. The burger features a charbroiled 100% Black Angus beef patty with American cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion, and six strips of bacon.

Fiery Chicken Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos is Testing in California

Step aside Cool Ranch DLT with shredded beef… BrandEating is reporting that Fiery Chicken Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos are testing in southern California. Shredded chicken marinated in Taco Bell chipotle sauce is the key ingredient and the taco comes in the standard or supreme (diced tomato/reduced fat sour cream) versions. Priced at 79 cents regular and 99 cents for the Supreme.

Dulce de Leche Shake from McDonald’s Available Starting June 10th

This summer at McDonald’s, the shakes will have a newcomer with the introduction of the Dulce de Leche Shake. The new shake is made with McDonald’s vanilla reduced fat ice cream, caramel and topped with whipped cream and a cherry. The Dulce de Leche Shake will be available beginning June 10 through September 15, 2013.

New Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothie from McDonald’s

The McCafé Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothie is the newest addition to the McCafé Smoothie line. The smoothie is made with blueberries, raspberries, pomegranate juice and blended with ice and low-fat yogurt. The smoothie clocks in at 220 calories for a small size. I spotted the Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothie when it was testing last summer in Texas. Try a small one for a buck from May 21-23.

Sonic is celebrating National End of School Day on Thursday, May 23rd by offering up corn dogs for 50 cents all day long.

Simple food at its finest. A delicious hot dog surrounded in sweet corn batter and fried to a crispy golden brown. Try it with some mustard or ketchup if you want. It’s like hot dog utopia on a stick.
