Coast & Country, one of the largest regeneration and housing companies in the North East, has helped Stokesley Sports Club FC get kitted out for the new football season.

The FA Community Club, one of only 100 in the country to earn such an accolade, has been given £350 by the regional housing company to fund its new away kit.

The senior first team will don the strip as it launches its assault on the Northern League First Division.

Coast & Country has a proud track record of supporting grassroots projects, emphasising the company's determination to help the wider community.

The donation forms part of a celebration to mark the completion of a luxury apartment block on Carrick's Corner in Stokesley.

The building's transformation has been carried out by the property services team at times4homes which is part of Coast & Country, and has involved the retention of the historical Georgian façade while incorporating 21st Century comfort and style.

Iain Sim, Chief Executive of Coast & Country, said: "Stokesley Sports Club FC has a hallmark for excellence and provides an invaluable service to the community through its matches and youth training programmes. We wish all their teams well in the current football season."

Stokesley Sports Club FC Press Officer, Tim Allison, shares the importance of the newly-found partnership, citing the cash injection as "a great help" to the club.

"Buying kits an expensive exercise for a local football team so we are very grateful that Coast & Country has made such a generous donation."

Since forming in 1920, Stokesley Sports Club FC has enjoyed an unrivalled period of success in recent years with the club attaining its highest-ever standing in the Northern League, achieving FA Community Club status and winning seven out of its last 12 competition finals.

The Grade 2 listed Carrick's Corner building, which houses 13 apartments fitted to an exceptionally high standard, includes an extension, which is in keeping with its historic style.

Mr Sim added: "Preserving the Georgian elegance of the building was integral to its conversion.

"times4homes property team has done an excellent job in combining historic grandeur with the modern functionality that is demanded by today's discerning home buyers."

The apartments all have luxury kitchens with integrated appliances, spacious bedrooms and ensuites as well as a main bathroom.

The donation to the football club was handed over at an evening reception, held in a marquee in the grounds of Carrick's Corner, to which key local stakeholders and partners were invited.

The aim of the event was to showcase the skills of the times4homes property team and mark the completion of the project.

Established in 2001, Coast & Country is a 'not for profit' local Housing Company limited by guarantee. It is a Registered Social Landlord (RSL) and is regulated by the Tenant Services Authority. As the largest RSL within Redcar and Cleveland, its current rental housing stock totals 10,309.

Its properties and estates are located in a diverse range of urban estates, seaside resorts and rural villages. Coast & Country believes that working together with local communities to find local solutions is a key factor in building and sustaining communities.
Delivering high quality homes Coast & Country is contributing to the prosperity, wider regeneration and sustainability of the communities within the immediate region and beyond.

Coast & Country aims to ensure that its regeneration work will have a positive impact on people's lives, achieving a careful balance of new homes for sale and for rent creating the kind of neighbourhoods that will flourish well into the future.
Twenty Four year old Kate Burton, who grew up in Great Ayton, raised the funds by single handedly organising and running an Evening Charity Ball in July for 50 guests at the Brackenborough Hotel in Louth. Tickets for the ball were £40 each and guests were asked to come dressed in the purple and silver colour scheme of the Children's Society. In addition to a four course dinner, they were then treated to a Michael Buble tribute singer who then turned DJ so everyone could dance.

A mammoth raffle helped supplement the profit, as Kate approached local businesses in the Lincolnshire area where she now lives, gaining an incredible 80 prizes which contributed £800 towards the final total.

Kate chose the Children's Society to benefit from her endeavours as her own mum had been adopted through them. Her grandmother, Margaret Herriman, is still involved with the Great Ayton Fund Raising Committee and Kate remembers attending many fund raising efforts in the village over the years before she moved, so chose to bring her cheque back home.

The cheque was presented at a meeting of the Great Ayton Committee and received by the Chairman, Marina Charlton, who congratulated Kate on behalf of all the committee on such a tremendous effort. Kate is studying Event Management at College, and decided to organise a ball herself to put what she had learnt into practice. She has impressed everyone with her attention to detail and enthusiasm that has led to such a successful result.

The Archbishop of York defied a deluge of rain and a recent illness to make it to Christ Church at Great Ayton on Sunday evening to take the Confirmation Service for eighteen candidates.

Vicar of Great Ayton, Canon Paul Peverell said, "It was twenty years ago since we last welcomed an Archbishop of York to the village, so we have been looking forward to Archbishop Sentamu's visit immensely. He has only recently been in hospital with peritonitis and hadn't been at all well the previous weekend, but despite this, he travelled through the tremendous downpours and gave us a truly inspiring service."

Christ Church was packed with around 300 people to support the candidates who came from Great Ayton, Ingleby Greenhow, Kildale - and France. The service was also relayed live by Skype to one of the candidates father's who is working in Korea.

As well as deeply moving moments, the Archbishop brought his characteristic sense of fun to the service which also included Holy Communion. Canon Peverell said, "He was genuinely cheered to see so many candidates and people present, and that amongst the candidates we had three family groups of three." The assembled congregation gave the Archbishop three rousing cheers as a sign of their appreciation of his coming to join them.

A special collection was taken at the service for the East Africa Crisis Appeal and raised £1,500. A reception followed in the Church Hall with the cutting of the Confirmation Cake by the Archbishop and candidates, and a magnificent spread of food. After the formal words of thanks were spoken the archbishop returned home to York for a much needed rest.

Canon Peverell says, At his enthronement as Archbishop of York, Archbishop Sentamu urged us as Christians to Prayer and Party. I think we managed to achieve both on Sunday and gave the candidates and congregation a day they will always remember."
