<p>The 20-year software industry veteran said in a release that the company will continue to hone its focus on big data, adding that leveraging it is the industry&#8217;s biggest challenge.</p>
<p>Prior to joining MarkLogic, he served as president and CEO at smart grid management software firm <strong>eMeter</strong>, which was recently acquired by <strong>Siemens Corp</strong>. (NYSE: SI).</p>
<p>Before eMeter, he was a consultant for the private investment firm TPG.</p>
<p>He also has previously served as vice chairman and president at <strong>Symantec Corp.</strong> (NYSE: SYMC) where he led the company’s line of business organizations and corporate development efforts.</p>
<p>Bloom joined Symantec upon its merger with Veritas Software, where he served as chairman and CEO.</p>
<p>Prior to joining Veritas, he served in senior executive positions at <strong>Oracle</strong> (NASDAQ: ORCL) during a 14-year career there, including having responsibility for mergers and acquisitions.</p>
<p>He also led the company&#8217;s database business, worldwide marketing, support, education and alliance organizations.</p>

<p>The company said he will work to expand logistics and force development and modernization.</p>
<p>He will provide the company with expertise regarding the Army G3 Training Directorate, said Jim Bradley, a senior vice president.</p>
<p>Prior to entering the private sector, he served in the Army for 26 years and his last assignment was assistant deputy director for training at the Pentagon.</p>
<p>There, the company said he managed a nearly $13 billion training budget.</p>
<p>He is also a recipient of the Army&#8217;s Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Army Staff Badge.</p>
<p>Before joining TAPE, he worked at JB&amp;A Inc. as a principal program analyst for the foreign terrorist tracking task force, supporting the Justice Department</p>
<p>He also managed the organization&#8217;s annual spending plan and an estimated $15 million in contracts.</p>

<p>The company will provide the Army its Spider XM-7 munitions and the Pentagon expects contract work to finish by April 30, 2013.</p>
<p>Work will occur in Plymouth, Minn.; Wilmington, Mass.; and Rocket Center, W.Va.</p>
<p>The Army Contracting Command&#8217;s office in Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. is the contracting activity.</p>
<p>In April, the company announced that it <a href="http://www.govconwire.com/2012/04/atk-wins-266m-for-army-small-caliber-ammo/">won $266 million</a> in delivery orders from the Army to provide the branch with 5.56- and 7.62-milimeter and .50-caliber military ammunition.</p>
<p>Military customers have received nearly 11 billion rounds from the company since 2000.</p>

<p>The Army received 13 bids through an Internet solicitation and will determine work locations based on each individual task order.</p>
<p>The Pentagon expects work under the firm-fixed-price contract to finish by May 7, 2017 and the <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Army Corps of Engineers</span>&#8216; office in Baltimore is the contracting activity.</p>
<p>In March, SAIC announced that it won a <a href="http://www.govconwire.com/2012/03/saic-wins-46m-tsa-hazmat-contract/">$46 million contract</a> from the Transportation Security Administration to help that agency manage hazardous materials and waste.</p>
<p>Work will occur at airport facilities in the continental U.S., Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. Virgin Islands and South Pacific.</p>

<p><strong>General Dynamics</strong>&#8216; (NYSE: GD) information technology unit has won two contracts potentially worth $500 million combined to provide information technology support to the Office of Personnel Management.</p>
<p>The company said Wednesday that the multiple-award, <em>blanket purchase agreements</em> have one base year and four year options.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Marcus Collier</span>, GDIT&#8217;s vice president of the health and civilian solutions unit, said the unit will help OPM address needs in areas of infrastructure, cloud computing, unified communications and cybersecurity.</p>
<p>Collier added that the unit will design, develop, deploy and maintain applications.</p>
<p>Work will also include:</p>
<ul>
<li>network operations and security support, including help desk services</li>
<li>server management and computer troubleshooting</li>
<li>local and wide area network management</li>
<li>network engineering and security</li>
<li>teleworking support</li>
</ul>
<p>For more than 27 years, the company has provided OPM with website development and maintenance, contact center and interactive voice response support.</p>
<p>The company has also helped manage data to support the federal government&#8217;s open enrollment period for health benefits.</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Kevin Boshears</span>, director of the office of small and disadvantaged business utilization, said contracts under the original <em>Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge Solutions</em> vehicle will continue with EAGLE II.</p>
<p><em>EAGLE II</em> will have a five base-year period and a one-year option, according to a request for proposals <a href="https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&amp;mode=form&amp;id=bf778937f568f1ca32f67b85a4e73207&amp;tab=core&amp;_cview=0">on FedBizOpps</a>.</p>
<p>DHS is conducting a source selection restricted to small business and a separate, open selection.</p>
<p>Boshear added that DHS has $8 billion in contract funds left to award for fiscal year 2012, including awards for IT, security services and office supplies.</p>

<p><strong></strong> <strong>TASC</strong> has received a six-month extension for work on a <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Defense Information Systems Agency</span> omnibus contract, increasing the ceiling for all awardees to $1.25 billion.</p>
<p>The <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Defense Department</span> said the completion date of the <em>Joint Interoperability Test Command</em> contract is now Feb. 28, 2013.</p>
<p>DISA received eight offers for the contract through a full and open competition.</p>
<p>The company will provide test, evaluation and certification services for acquiring and fielding warfighter capabilities and operations at the Fort Huachuca-based JITC, Fort Meade, Md. and Indian Head, Md.</p>
<p>The <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization</span> at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. is the contracting activity for the multiple-award contract.</p>
<p>TASC also holds a spot on a potential <a href="http://www.govconwire.com/2012/01/tasc-wins-spot-on-potential-476m-govt-engineering-communications-contract/">$476 million contract</a> to provide multiple agencies with engineering and communications services.</p>

<p>The Melbourne, Fla.-based firm announced Wednesday the <em>Falcon III AN/PRC-152A</em> wideband handheld tactical radios will support the <span style="text-decoration: underline;">USSOCOM Capital Equipment Replacement Program</span> and tactical radio modernization.</p>
<p>The initial delivery will be made under the company’s recently awarded $400 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, which also includes provisions for AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radio orders.</p>
<p>The AN/PRC-152A uses the company&#8217;s Adaptive Networking Wideband Waveform to deliver real-time Type-1 secure voice, video and data, according to the announcement.</p>
<p>Harris also said it will add the Joint Tactical Radio System Soldier Radio Waveform to the AN/PRC-152A radio later this year.</p>

<p>The <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Defense Department</span> announced Tuesday the move exercises the seventh option year on the economic price adjustment, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.</p>
<p>Work will occur in the southwest region and will support the four military branches and federal civilian agencies.</p>
<p>The Pentagon expects the work to finish by May 18, 2013 and the DLA&#8217;s troop support office in Philadelphia is the contracting activity.</p>
<p>In December 2011, the McLean, Va.-based engineering and science contractor also won a prime contract valued around <a href="http://www.govconwire.com/2011/12/saic-secures-potential-1b-contract-from-dla/">$1 billion</a> to supply and recycle aircraft tires.</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">NASA</span> has awarded nearly $10 billion in funds through the popular <a href="http://www.govconwire.com/2012/01/gtri-wins-prime-spot-on-5-6b-government-wide-it-contract/">Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement </a>vehicle, which will expire in 2014, <a href="http://www.federalnewsradio.com/?nid=494&amp;sid=2866567">Federal News Radio reports</a>.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Joanne Woytek</span>, SEWP program manager, told the station NASA is conducting market research on the next SEWP vehicle and said the entire process takes around two years to complete.</p>
<p>Other agencies can use the vehicle to purchase technology products and the space agency is also working with industry vendors for additional feedback.</p>
<p>NASA will submit a business case to the <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Office of Management and Budget</span> for approval of SEWP V and publish the case online for feedback from other agencies.</p>
