مشروع The Library Giza: ساحة جديدة للعمل الجماعي بين رائدي الأعمال المصريين

إن دعم رائدي الأعمال وتحفيزهم على الابتكار يمثل الدعامة الأساسية للاقتصاد السليم. وقد كانت بداية شركة Google نفسها في شكل مشروع ناشئ داخل أحد جراجات السيارات، وهو ما جعلها تلتزم التزامًا كبيرًا بدعم جهود ريادة المشروعات حول العالم. أعلنت Google for Enterpreneurs اليوم دعمها لمشروع The Library Giza، وهو عبارة عن مشروع ناشئ يوفر ساحة جديدة للتعاون بين رائدي الأعمال في مصر. ذلك أنه يجمع أصحاب المشروعات الناشئة لاستضافة فعالياتهم ودوراتهم التدريبية ولقاءاتهم وبرامجهم.

ومن المقرر أن يوفر هذا المشروع، بالشراكة مع Google، مكتبة من الأجهزة يمكن للمشروعات الناشئة من خلالها اختبار منتجاتها وأجهزتها، كما أنه سيستضيف دورات تدريبية وفعاليات أخرى، علاوة على لقاءات مطوِّري برامج Google ومجموعات الأنشطة التجارية في Google وغير ذلك الكثير . ستوفر هذه المكتبة الموارد والأدوات ومكان عقد الاجتماعات حتى يتمكن رائدو الأعمال الناشئون من الالتقاء والتعاون والتعلم والابتكار. كما تلبي هذه المكتبة احتياجات المنظومة المتكاملة لريادة الأعمال في مصر وذلك من خلال توفير المساحة والموارد اللازمة لرائدي الأعمال وللمشروعات الناشئة. ومن المتوقع أن يؤدي هذا إلى مزيد من الابتكارات التي تساهم بدورها في اقتصاد مصري أفضل. ويسعى مشروع The Library Giza إلى توليد أفكار وفرص عمل وطاقة يمكن من خلالها تحفيز مصر الجديدة نحو استغلال ما يتمتع به شبابها من قدرات كامنة.

يتولى مشروع The Library Giza وضع برنامج من الفعاليات والدروس التدريبية التي تتناول عددًا متنوعًا من الموضوعات بما في ذلك التطوير والتصميم الفني، وتخطيط الأعمال وإدارتها وتشغيلها، والتقنيات الحديثة ونماذج إدارة الأعمال. كما يقدم مشروع المكتبة برامج وفعاليات تستهدف الصناعات والأسواق المتخصصة مثل التطبيقات اللاسلكية/تطبيقات الجوّال والتجارة الإلكترونية والصحة والتعليم والألعاب وغير ذلك الكثير. وفي نهاية الأمر يهدف هذا المشروع إلى حشد الرواد في مجالاتهم للتحدث بشأن هذه المجالات، سواء على مستوى رسمي أم غير رسمي، مع الاعتماد على المسؤولين التنفيذيين على المستويين المحلي والإقليمي في تقديم التوجيه والفرص التدريبية اللازمة.

تشكل شبكة الإنترنت في مصر، بل وفي المنطقة برمتها، بيئة متكاملة سريعة النمو كما تشير أحدث الدراسات إلى أن الإنترنت تساهم بأكثر من 15.6 مليار جنيه مصري في الاقتصاد المصري. وهذا الرقم يعادل ما تقدمه قطاعات مثل قطاع الرعاية الصحية والتعليم. وتساعد المكتبة في بناء منظومة متكاملة وحيوية للمشروعات الناشئة، وتمكين الجيل الجديد من رائدي الأعمال من تحقيق النجاح.

The Library Giza: A New Co-Working Space for Egyptian Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs and the drive for innovation are the backbone of a healthy economy. Google itself started in a garage and is thus deeply committed to supporting entrepreneurship efforts around the world. Google for Entrepreneurs announced today its support of The Library Giza, a new coworking space for entrepreneurs in Egypt. The Library will be a startup community space to host events, trainings, meetups and programs.

In partnership with Google for Entrepreneurs, The Library Giza will boast a device library for startups to test their products and services, will host trainings and events, Google Developer and Google Business Group meetups and much, much more. The Library will provide the resources, tools and community to enable budding entrepreneurs to meet, collaborate, learn and create. The Library caters to the Egyptian entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing startups and entrepreneurs with the space and resources they need. The results will be increased innovation and ultimately, a healthier Egyptian economy. The Library Giza will generate ideas, jobs and energy for the new Egypt and help harness that energy and untapped potential of the Egyptian youth.

The Library Giza will build a program of events and classes across a range of topics including technical development and design; business planning, management and operations; and emerging technologies and business models. The Library will also provide programs and events targeted to industries and vertical markets such as wireless/mobile apps, e-Commerce, health, education, games, and more. Finally, it will bring industry leaders in for talks, both formal and informal, and will draw on local and regional executives to provide mentoring and coaching opportunities.

The Internet is a rapidly growing ecosystem in Egypt and the entire region, with recent studies indicating that the Internet provides more than 15.6 billion EGP to the Egyptian economy. This amount is equal to the amount provided by sectors such as healthcare and education. Get Traffic Conditions in Riyadh, KSA!

We have expanded our live traffic coverage to the Capital city of Riyadh in KSA. Traffic in Google Maps was introduced in 2008, and since then our team has been working hard to bring this popular feature to more and more countries. Today, you can now get traffic conditions for major streets and highways in Riyadh, KSA. The service was also launched last year for the city of Jeddah, KSA.

To do so, simply go to Google Maps and click on the traffic layer in the widget you can find on the upper right hand side of the screen. This useful traffic information is also available on Google Maps for Mobile devices and Google Maps Navigation.

If the roads you are traveling do not yet show traffic information, don’t despair. You can help your fellow drivers and improve traffic data by using Google Navigation or Google Maps for Mobile while traveling.

فعاليات Big Tent في تونس: تمهيد الطريق في العالم العربي لحرية التعبير على الإنترنت

لقد أحدثت شبكة الإنترنت طفرة في التواصل عبر الإنترنت، مما أتاح إمكانية التعبير عن الرأي لمن عانى القمع على مدار سنوات طويلة. ففي ثورات الربيع العربي، كانت شبكة الإنترنت بمثابة أداة للتعبير عن المعارضة، وتنظيم التظاهرات. إلا أنه وبعد ظهور مؤشرات تدل على تراجع ذلك، تقرر عقد فعاليات Big Tent بتونس لاستكشاف مخاطر رفع مستوى الرقابة الحكومية.

وقد تقرر عقد هذه الفعاليات في تونس بالتزامن مع أول اجتماع في العالم العربي لتحالف الدفاع عن حرية التعبير على الإنترنت الذي تستضيفه تونس. وقد كانت انطلاقة هذا التحالف في مدينة لاهاي خلال شهر تشرين الثاني (نوفمبر) من عام 2011، عندما تم تدشينه على يد وزيرة الخارجية الأمريكية السابقة هيلاري كلينتون خلال فعاليات Big Tent. وقد انضم أربعة عشر بلدًا من بينها كندا وإستونيا والسويد والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية إلى التحالف دعمًا لحرية التعبير على الإنترنت.

ومنذ تدشين هذا التحالف، شهدت حرية التعبير على الإنترنت تطورًا كبيرًا لتتحول إلى مشروع واعد، حيث اتسعت دائرتها إلى أمريكا اللاتينية، لتضم كوستاريكا والمكسيك، وإلى إفريقيا لتضم كينيا وغانا. وقد واصلت Google دعمها لحرية التعبير على الإنترنت ليشمل ذلك المؤتمر الثاني الذي استضافته نيروبي عام 2012. ولن يقتصر الأمر على اعتبار تونس أول بلد عربي ينضم إلى التحالف، بل إنها تصبح بذلك أيضًا أول بلد في المنطقة يستضيف البلدان الأعضاء في التحالف. ولقد رأينا أنه من المناسب جدًا اختيار هذا التوقيت نفسه لعقد أول Big Tent في المنطقة.

من المقرر أن يتناول روس لاجينيس، كبير المسؤولين عن حرية التعبير في Google، توضيح هدفنا من طرح القيود المفروضة على حرية التعبير على الإنترنت لمناقشتها على طاولة الحوار حول العالم، وفي العالم العربي على وجه الخصوص. سيتم عقد جلسة نقاشية حول وضع حرية التعبير في تونس يديرها "أحمد جلول"، عضو مجلس الشورى عن حزب النهضة التونسي، و"سليم أمامو" مدوّن تونسي، ووزير الدولة السابق لشئون الشباب والرياضة. سنتعرف على وجهة النظر في أنحاء أخرى من المنطقة من خلال ريم المصري، مدير
التعليم الرقمي بمؤسسة "حبر"، والتي تعمل في مجال تطوير المواد الدراسية للمعلمين وذلك بهدف تشجيع استخدام القصص الرقمية والتواصل عبر الشبكات الاجتماعية. كما سيتم اختتام هذه الفعاليات بحلقة نقاشية بين الروائي نديم لحود والناشطة النسائية والكاتبة جمانة حداد للحديث عن الفن ومناصرة حقوق المرأة، كما تتناول الحلقة النقاشية قضية الرقابة في العالم العربي. .ومن المقرر أن يُلقي "أورماس بايت"، وزير خارجية إستونيا الأسبق، كلمة ختامية، حيث تستضيف بلاده المؤتمر القادم حول "الحرية على الإنترنت".

وعلى الرغم من أننا في Google نميل إلى حق الأشخاص في التعبير عن آرائهم، فنحن ندرك كذلك أن هناك حدودًا لهذه الحرية. وهدفنا في تونس أن نشجع على مواصلة تحالف الدفاع عن حرية التعبير على الإنترنت نضاله من أجل الحرية على الإنترنت، بالإضافة إلى تقديم دفعة لبدء حوار يتناول "الحرية على الإنترنت" في العالم العربي.

Big Tent Tunisia: Leading the way in the Arab World for Online Free Expression

The Internet has spawned an explosion of online communication, allowing those who were silenced to finally speak up. During the Arab Spring, the Web became as a tool for expressing dissent and organizing demonstrations. Signs of a backlash are now emerging and the Big Tent Tunis will explore the threat of growing government censorship

Our event is taking place in Tunis as the Freedom Online coalition gathers there for the first time in an Arab country. The coalition was launched in The Hague in November, 2011 when Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton launched the coalition at our Big Tent. Fourteen countries including Canada, Estonia, Sweden and the USA joined to promote Internet freedom.

Since the launch, Freedom Online has grown into a promising project. It has expanded into Latin America, to include Costa Rica as well as Mexico, and to Africa, to include Kenya and Ghana. Google has continued to support Freedom Online including at its second conference in Nairobi in 2012. Tunisia is not only the first Arab country to join the coalition but it is also the first to in the region to host its members. We thought it only fitting that we hold our first-ever Big Tent in the region at the same time.

Google’s Global Head for Free Expression Ross LaJeunesse will outline our goal to discuss the limits of free expression online around the globe, and in particular, in the Arab world. We’ll host a debate on the state of free expression in Tunisia with Ahmed Gaaloul, member of the Shoura Council of the Ennahdha Party and Slim Amamou, a Tunisian blogger and the former Secretary of State for Sport and Youth. We’ll also hear about the perspective from other parts of the region from Reem Al-Masri, Digital Education Director of 7iber inc, which develops training material for teachers to encourage the use of digital storytelling and social networking. The event will culminate in a debate between filmmaker Nadim Lahoud and feminist writer Joumana Haddad about art, feminism and censorship in the Arab world.

Although we at Google are biased towards people’s right to free expression, we also realize that this freedom has limits. Our goal in Tunis is encourage the Freedom Online coalition to continue fighting for online freedom - and to jump-start a debate about the state of online freedom in the Arab world.

90 فكرة لتغيير وجه الأرض: الإعلان عن المتأهلين للتصفيات النهائية على المستوى الإقليمي في معرض Google للعلوم 2013

نشأ حب الاستطلاع والفضول العلمي لدى العديد من العلماء البارزين في سن مبكرة، ومن هذا المنطلق وجهنا دعوة في كانون الثاني (يناير) الماضي إلى العقول الشابة التي تتقد ذكاءً من جميع أنحاء العالم لإرسال ما لديهم من أفكار حول تغيير وجه الأرض إلينا. وقد تمكن معرض Google للعلوم 2013 من جذب آلاف المشاركات التي تتميز بالتنوع والإثارة والتي وردت إلينا من أكثر من 120 بلدًا.

وبعد مرور بضعة أشهر من المجهود الكبير الذي بذلته لجنة التحكيم، أصبحنا على استعداد للإعلان عن 90 مشاركة مؤهلة للتصفيات النهائية على المستوى الإقليمي في معرض Google للعلوم 2013. لم يكن من السهل اختيار هذه المشروعات، إلا أن ما تتمتع به من ابتكار وكفاءة علمية وارتباط بالعالم الذي نعيش فيه جعلها مؤهلة ليقع الاختيار عليها. وتتنوع المشروعات المؤهلة للتصفيات النهائية هذا العام لتشمل استخدام قشر الموز في إنتاج البلاستيك الحيوي وبحث عن معالجة غير ضارة بالبيئة للمياه الملوثة. هذا علاوة على مشروعات أخرى من بينها دراسة حول آثار ألعاب الفيديو على الوظيفة الإدراكية للمخ وتقييم للنقل اللاسلكي للكهرباء.

التسعون فائز من حول أنحاء العالم

للعام الثاني، تقرر منح جائزة "تطبيق العلوم" الأمريكية في مجال العلوم. ويحصل على هذه الجائزة مشروع من شأنه إحداث تغيير عملي في طريقة مواجهة التحديات البيئية أو الصحية أو التحديات المتعلقة بالموارد. ومن المقرر أن يقع الاختيار على 15 مشروعًا من بين المشروعات التسعين المؤهلة للتصفيات النهائية على المستوى الإقليمي للمنافسة على جائزة هذا العام.

سيتم الإعلان يوم 27 حزيران (يونيو) المقبل عن 15 متأهلاً للتصفيات النهائية على مستوى العالم بالإضافة إلى الإعلان عن الفائز بجائزة "تطبيق العلوم". بعد ذلك سيزور شباب العلماء مقر Google الرئيسي بولاية كاليفورنيا لحضور الجولة الأخيرة من التحكيم وحفل تكريم تم تحديد الثالث والعشرين من أيلول (سبتمبر) المقبل موعدًا له.

90 ideas to change the world: Announcing the Regional Finalists for the 2013 Google Science Fair

Many great scientists developed their curiosity for science at an early age and in January we called on the brightest young minds from around the world to send us their ideas to change the world. Our 2013 Google Science Fair attracted an exciting and diverse range of entries, with thousands of submissions from more than 120 countries.

After a busy few months for the judges, we’re ready to reveal our 90 regional finalists for the 2013 Google Science Fair. It was no easy task selecting these projects, but in the end their creativity, scientific merit and global relevance shined through. This year’s finalists projects range from using banana peels to produce bioplastics to research into a green treatment for contaminated water. Other projects include a study on the effects of video gaming on the cognitive function of the brain to the evaluation of wireless transmission of electricity.

90 finalists from around the world

For the second year, we’ll also be recognizing the Scientific American Science in Action Award. This award honors a project that makes a practical difference by addressing an environmental, health or resources challenge and from the 90 finalists projects, 15 were nominated for this year’s award.

On June 27 we’ll announce the 15 global finalists and the winner of the Science in Action Award. These young scientists will then be flown to Google’s California headquarters for the last round of judging and a celebratory event on September 23.

أصبحت هناك الآن ملايين الأنشطة التجارية التي تستخدم +Google في التواصل مع عملائها من خلال وسائل مفيدة للغاية. كما تستخدم العديد من هذه الأنشطة التجارية أيضًا AdWords في الترويج لمنتجاتها، بالإضافة إلى استخدام الخرائط في تحديث بيانات المتاجر، واستخدام YouTube في نشر محتوى الفيديو عالي الجودة، إلى غير ذلك من المنتجات الكثيرة الأخرى. ونظرًا لأننا نسعى إلى تسهيل التواجد عبر الإنترنت على مختلف منتجات Google، فقد طرحنا اليوم ميزة Google+ Dashboard. بعد تسجيل الدخول إلى صفحتك على +Google، ستتمكن من الدخول إلى ميزات Dashboard التالية:

إذا لم يسبق لك استخدام تصميم "One Channel" على YouTube، فاليوم يمكنك مشاهدة قناتك بهذا التصميم الجديد حتى تبدو رائعة على جميع الأجهزة.

من خلال تصميم One Channel الجديد يمكنك إجراء ما يلي:

جذب عدد أكبر من المشتركين. بشكل عام، شهدت القنوات التي تستخدم التصميم الجديد زيادة في عدد المشتركين.
جذب عدد أكبر من الزيارات للقناة. شهدت القنوات التي تستخدم تصميم One Channel زيادة ملحوظة في عدد الزيارات إلى صفحة القناة نظرًا لأن النقرات من الدليل عادة ما تنتقل مباشرة إلى القناة.

Here’s everything you need for the new One Channel design

If you haven’t already switched to the YouTube One Channel design, today you’ll see your channel in this new design to make it look great across all devices.

With the new One Channel design you can:

Gain more subscribers. Overall we’ve seen an increase in new subscribers for channels already using the new design.
Get more channel visits. Channels with the One Channel design have seen a significant increase in visits to their channel page because clicks from the guide always go directly to the channel.
Let your brand shine through in more places. With the One Channel design, you now have channel art visible on iOS & Android apps, mobile web and TV.

To get your channel looking it’s best:

Select your channel art. Choose an image that represents your channel. The image should be 2560 px by 1440 px for the best results on all devices. If you plan on designing something special, check out the specs here.
Upload a trailer. Introduce new viewers to all the awesomeness they’ll see from your videos, and encourage them to subscribe to your channel.
Create sections. Select which videos and playlists you want to showcase in the sections on your channel’s browse tab.
Link your channel with a Google+ page or profile. Keeping your branding up-to-date will be even easier because your channel art will represent you across YouTube, Google+, and all Google properties.

أعلنا الأسبوع الماضي عن صندوق بريد Gmail الجديد الذي يعيد لك سيطرتك على الرسائل من خلال عملية تنظيم بسيطة وسهلة. والآن نعلن عن طرح إصدارين جديدين من تطبيقي Gmail لأجهزة Android وGmail لأجهزة iPhone وiPad حيث نتيح لك إمكانية استخدام صندوق البريد الجديد.

إذا كنت تريد تجربة صندوق البريد الجديد على جهازك الجوّال، فانقر على قائمة الترس في Gmail بجهاز سطح المكتب وحدد "تهيئة البريد الوارد". وعندما تستخدم جهازك الجوّال في المرة القادمة، سيتم عرض البريد الأساسي أولاً ولن تظهر الإشعارات إلا مع البريد الأساسي. وبذلك ستتمكن بسهولة من الوصول إلى الرسائل الإلكترونية والاحتفاظ بها في فئات أخرى من خلال فتح القائمة.

Gmail's new inbox now available on Android, iPhone and iPad

Last week we announced that Gmail has a new inbox that puts you back in control using simple, easy organization. New versions of the Gmail for Android and Gmail for iPhone and iPad apps with the new inbox are now available.

If you'd like to try out the new inbox on your mobile device, click on the gear menu in Gmail on the desktop and select Configure inbox. The next time you use your mobile device, primary mail will be shown first and notifications will only appear for primary mail. It's easy to access and keep track of email in other categories by opening the menu.

These updates include some other new features. On Android, you'll get a new design with profile photos, a navigation menu, and more. On the iPhone and iPad, you can choose to receive notifications for all messages, only important messages, or no messages at all, on a per account basis.

يوفر تطبيق Chrome Beta على أجهزة Android الآن ميزة شريط الترجمة المضمَّن الذي اعتدت عليه في تطبيق Chrome لأجهزة سطح المكتب، وذلك لمساعدتك على قراءة المزيد على الويب أثناء الانتقال، بغض النظر عن لغة صفحة الويب. عندما تصادفك صفحة مكتوبة بلغة مختلفة عن لغة هاتفك أو جهازك اللوحي، ابحث عن شريط الترجمة. ولتتمكن من ترجمة الصفحة، المس الزر "ترجمة".

Browse the web across languages, on the go

Today’s Chrome Beta for Android release brings the built-in translation bar you’ve seen on desktop Chrome to help you read more of the web while you’re on the go, regardless of the language of the web page. When you come across a page written in a language that isn't in the same language as your phone or tablet, look for the translation bar. To translate the page, touch the “Translate” button.

Following full screen support on phones, we are now adding full screen on tablets as well. As you scroll, the top toolbar disappears so you can immerse yourself in the web page content. Finally, on phones, a “+” in the toolbar now makes creating tabs even easier.

For those of you trying out our experimental data compression feature, you can see a graph (under “Settings > Bandwidth Management”) that shows your estimated bandwidth savings.

The latest version of Chrome Beta for Android is available on Google Play. We look forward to your early feedback.

يعمل تخصيص كلمة مرور قوية لكل حساب على مساعدتك في حماية نفسك ومعلوماتك في هذا الحساب. ابدأ اليوم بالتأكد من تخصيص كلمة مرور فريدة لحسابك في Google.

2. انتقاء كلمة مرور بحيث يصعب تخمينها

"password". "123456". “My name is Ayman. You killed my father. 3. الاحتفاظ بكلمة المرور في مكان آمن

إذا لم تكن قد عينت خيار الاسترداد لحسابك في Google، فيُمكنك إضافة خيار استرداد الآن. وإذا كنت قد أجريت هذا الأمر من قبل، فلا يستغرق الأمر سوى ثوان معدودة للتأكد من تحديثه.

Helping Passwords Better Protect You

Knowing how to stay safe and secure online is important, which is why we created our Good to Know site with advice and tips for safe and savvy Internet use. Starting today, we'll also be posting regularly with privacy and security tips. We hope this information helps you understand the choices and control that you have over your online information. -Ed.

It could be your Gmail, your photos or your documents—whatever you have in your Google Account; we work hard to make sure it’s protected from would-be identity thieves, other bad guys, or any illegitimate attempts to access your information.

But you can also help keep your information safe. Think of how upset you would be if someone else got access to your Google Account without your permission, and then take five minutes to follow the steps below and help make it more secure. Let’s start with the key to unlocking your account—your password:

1. Use a different password for each important service

Make sure you have a different password for every important online account you have. Bad guys will steal your username and password from one site, and then use them to try to log into lots of other sites where you might have an account. Even large, reputable sites sometimes have their password databases stolen. If you use the same password across many different sites, there’s a greater chance it might end up on a list of stolen passwords. And the more accounts you have that use that password, the more data you might lose if that password is stolen.

Giving an account its own, strong password helps protect you and your information in that account. Start today by making sure your Google Account has a unique password.

2. Make your password hard to guess

“password.” “123456.” “My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!” These examples are terrible passwords because everyone knows them—including potential attackers. Making your passwords longer or more complicated makes them harder to guess for both bad guys and people who know you. We know it’s hard: the average password is shorter than 8 characters, and many just contain letters. In a database of 32 million real passwords that were made public in 2009, analysis showed (PDF) only 54 percent included numbers, and only 3.7 percent had special characters like & or $.

One way to build a strong password is to think of a phrase or sentence that other people wouldn’t know and then use that to build your password. For example, for your email you could think of a personal message like “I want to get better at responding to emails quickly and concisely” and then build your password from numbers, symbols, and the first letters of each word—“iw2gb@r2eq&c”. Don’t use popular phrases or lyrics to build your password—research suggests that people gravitate to the same phrases, and you want your password to be something only you know.

Google doesn’t restrict password length, so go wild!

3. Keep your password somewhere safe

Research shows (PDF) that worrying about remembering too many passwords is the chief reason people reuse certain passwords across multiple services. But don’t worry—if you’ve created so many passwords that it’s hard to remember them, it’s OK to make a list and write them down. Just make sure you keep your list in a safe place, where you won’t lose it and others won’t be able to find it. If you’d prefer to manage your passwords digitally, a trusted password manager might be a good option. Chrome and many web browsers have free password managers built into them, and there are many independent options as well—take a few minutes to read through reviews and see what would be best for your needs.

4. Set a recovery option

Have you ever forgotten your password? Has one of your friends ever been locked out of their account? Setting a recovery option, like an alternate email address or a telephone number, helps give the service provider another way to contact you if you are ever locked out of your account. Having an up-to-date recovery phone or email address is the best thing you can do to make sure you can get back into your account fast if there is ever a problem.

If you haven’t set a recovery option for your Google Account, add one now. If you have, just take a second to make sure it’s up to date.

Your online safety and privacy is important to you, and it’s important to us, too. We’ve made a huge amount of progress to help protect your Google Account from people who want to break into it, but for the time being, creating a unique, strong password is still an important way to protect your online accounts. استضافت مبادرة Google For Entrepreneurs ورش عمل تضم رجال أعمال وشركات ناشئة تابعين لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة والتي عقدت بمكتب شركة Google بدبيّ في الفترة بين التاسع والحادي عشر من شهر أيار (مايو). وتأتي ورش العمل هذه في إطار الجهود المشتركة بين شركة Google وAstroLabs. وتهدف ورش العمل هذه إلى إمداد الشركات الناشئة الواعدة بالتوجيه اللازم، والمساعدة في إنشاء شبكة اتصال بين رجال الأعمال.

ويهدف المشروع إلى إنشاء شبكة اتصال داخل العالم العربي لتوفير فرص لرجال الأعمال للتعلم من بعضهم البعض بالإضافة إلى مشاركة التحديات التي تواجههم وتقديم حلول لها.

شهدت ورش العمل مناقشة تقديم خدمة عملاء متميزة، وحملات التسويق الرقمي، وأفضل الممارسات في AdWords و هذا وانضم كريست شرودر، الذي يعمل كمؤلف ومستثمر ورجل أعمال في الشركات الناشئة التي تتمركز في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا إلى ورش العمل عبر Google+ Hangouts حيث عبر عن رؤيته وخبرته إلى المشاركين.

جزء من ورشة العمل التفاعلية المعدة لـ 12 شركة ناشئة بواسطة Google وAstroLabs

Google For Entrepreneurs and AstroLabs Boost Dubai Startups

Google For Entrepreneurs hosted workshops for UAE-based entrepreneurs and startups at the Google offices in Dubai between the 9th and 11th of May. The workshops were a joint-effort between Google and AstroLabs. The goal of the workshops was to provide the most promising startups with mentorship and help create a network of communication between entrepreneurs.

The project aims to create networks of communication within the Arab world to provide entrepreneurs with the opportunity to learn from one another and share their challenges and solutions.

Google+ Hangout with Christ Schroeder

The workshops discussed delivering premium customer service, digital marketing campaigns, best practices on AdWords among other topics of interest to startups. Chris Schroeder, an investor, entrepreneur and author on MENA-based startups joined the workshops via Google+ Hangouts where he provided his insights and expertise to the audience.

The interactive workshops also featured presentations by Google executives, as well as representatives from PayPal and Qualcomm among others. The various entrepreneurs in attendance came from diverse backgrounds with nearly half of all present being women. Several promising startups from Dubai included Duplays, Restronaught, Glambox, Nabbesh, Noviplus, Ananasa, and more.

The collaboration between Google and AstroLabs regarding the entrepreneurs-focused series stems from the belief that startups form the cornerstone of healthy economies around the world. The workshops aim to educate, integrate and fund high-potential startups across the Arab region by providing case studies, interactive discussions and best practices to entrepreneurs.

ومضة وفعاليات برنامج التواصل والإرشاد (Mix 'N Mentor)

تتعدد طرق دعم Google لرائدي الأعمال على مستوى العالم، أما على المستوى المحلي فقد تم توسيع نطاق هذا الدعم من خلال المشاركة في برنامج Mix N’ Mentor الذي تقدمه مؤسسة "ومضة".

ونظرًا لتنوع أشكال الفعاليات في برنامج Mix N’ Mentor وما يتضمنه من تمويل وتدبير موارد مالية وتشكيل فريق قوي وتنمية للجانب الثقافي، فقد ساعد المشروعات الناشئة على بناء علاقات والتعلم من الموجهين والشركاء والخبراء المختصين في مختلف المجالات على مستوى المنطقة.

انطلقت فعاليات البرنامج لعام 2013 من القاهرة خلال شهر آذار (مارس) الماضي، وذلك بحضور ما يقرب من 200 من رائدي الأعمال الناشئين ومجموعات مطوِّري برامج Google ومجموعات الأنشطة التجارية في Google لاكتساب الخبرة من الموجهين على مستوى المنطقة. كما استضافت الدوحة ثاني فعاليات البرنامج، وذلك بالتعاون مع مسابقة خطط الأعمال العربية التي تقيمها مؤسسة MIT Enterprise Forum. وقد أعقب ذلك فعاليات المنامة ثم عَمان حيث قدم عدد من الموجهين البارزين إرشاداتهم لرائدي الأعمال الذين حرصوا على الاستفادة من هذه الإرشادات.

وبالنسبة إلى من لم يتمكن من حضور هذه الفعاليات بنفسه، عقدت مؤسسة "ومضة" Hangout على +Google حضرها رائدو أعمال للتواصل مع الموجهين عن بُعد. علاوة على ذلك، يتم بث حلقات النقاش الجماعي على الهواء كما يتم تحميلها على قناة "ومضة" على YouTube، مع تغطية حية لكل فعالية على صفحة "ومضة" على +Google. كما أنشأت "ومضة" منتدى على G+ لضمان استمرار النقاش عبر الإنترنت.

Google supports entrepreneurs in a variety of ways globally, and locally we've extended this support through participation in Wamda's Mix N’ Mentor Roadshow.

From funding and financing, to building a strong team and developing culture, the Mix N’ Mentor networking events have enabled startups to build connections and learn from mentors, partners and industry experts in the region.

The roadshow of events for 2013 started out in Cairo in March, where nearly 200 budding entrepreneurs, Google Developer Groups, Google Business Groups attended to learn from the expertise of regional mentors. The next event was in Doha, in conjunction with the MIT Enterprise Forum Arab Business Plan Competition. Events followed in Manama, then Amman, where high-profile mentors shared their guidance with eager entrepreneurs.

For those who aren’t able to attend in person, Wamda has set up a Google+ Hangout for entrepreneurs to connect with mentors remotely. In addition, panel discussions are streamed-live and added to Wamda’s YouTube channel, with live coverage of each event Wamda’s Google+ page. Wamda has also set up a G+ community to ensure continued discussions take place online.

نتلقى العديد من أنواع الرسائل الإلكترونية بمختلف أشكالها، سواء أكانت رسائل من الأصدقاء أم إشعارات من الشبكات الاجتماعية أم صفقات أم عروضًا أم رسائل تأكيد أم إيصالات وغير ذلك الكثير. قد تتسبب جميع هذه الرسائل الإلكترونية في السيطرة على انتباهنا وتجعل من الصعب التركيز على الأشياء التي نحتاج إلى تنفيذها. ولذلك قد نشعر أحيانًا أن صندوق البريد هو الذي يتحكم فينا ولسنا نحن من يتحكم فيه.

A new inbox that puts you back in control

We get a lot of different types of email: messages from friends, social notifications, deals and offers, confirmations and receipts, and more. All of these emails can compete for our attention and make it harder to focus on the things we need to get done. Sometimes it feels like our inboxes are controlling us, rather than the other way around.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Today, Gmail is getting a brand new inbox on desktop and mobile that puts you back in control using simple, easy organization.

On the desktop, the new inbox groups your mail into categories, which appear as different tabs. You simply choose which categories you want and voilà! Your inbox is organized in a way that lets you see what’s new at a glance and decide which emails you want to read when.

You can easily customize the new inbox - select the tabs you want from all five to none, drag-and-drop to move messages between tabs, set certain senders to always appear in a particular tab and star messages so that they also appear in the Primary tab.

In the Gmail for Android 4.0+ and Gmail for iPhone and iPad apps, you'll see your Primary mail when you open the app and you can easily navigate to the other tabs.

If the new inbox isn't quite your style, you can simply switch off all optional tabs to go back to classic view, or switch to any of your other favorite inbox types.

The new inbox is rolling out gradually. The desktop, Android and iOS versions will become available within the next few weeks. If you'd like to try out the new inbox on Desktop sooner, keep an eye on the gear menu and select Configure inbox when it appears in the Settings options.

Voice Search on Google Chrome

You can now start to have a conversation with search on all your devices—including your desktop or laptop. We’re rolling out the new conversational search functionality over the next few days in +Google Chrome, so you can ask Google about “Italian restaurants in Cairo” and continue the conversation with “how about Chinese." Or find out “who is the prime minister of Kuwait” then ask “how old is he”—and Google will give you a spoken answer.

Just click the microphone in the Google search bar and speak up. Also, be sure to have the volume up on your computer to hear your answer loud and clear. The new search functionality will be available in English with more languages to be added over the coming weeks.

لم تعد عملية إنشاء مستندات والدخول إليها تتطلب إجراءات كثيرة؛ ذلك أننا نطرح اليوم عدة تحسينات على تطبيق Drive لأجهزة Android بهدف تسهيل إنشاء المستندات والدخول إليها أثناء التنقل.

لمساعدتك في العثور على المحتوى الذي يهمك، يتم الآن عرض ملفات Drive في شكل بسيط وسهل وبنمط بطاقات. يمكنك التمرير سريعًا بين الملفات للاطلاع على معاينات كبيرة تتيح لك مراجعة المعلومات التي تبحث عنها واستكشافها سريعًا. وإذا كنت تريد حفظ بعض ملفات Drive على جهاز Android، فستتمكن الآن من "تنزيل نسخة" من خلال قائمة الإجراءات داخل الإعدادات.

A smoother Drive app for Android

The process of creating and accessing your stuff shouldn’t be, well...a process. Today, the Drive app for Android is getting several improvements to make creating and accessing your stuff on-the-go even easier.

To help you find the content you care about, Drive files will now be displayed in a clean, simple card-style. You can swipe between files to see large previews that let you quickly review and discover the information you’re looking for. And if you want to keep some Drive files on your Android device, you’ll now be able to “download a copy” from the actions menu inside settings.

The updated Drive for Android app also gives you to a way to keep track of important paper documents like receipts, letters, and billing statements. Simply click “Scan” from the Add New menu, snap a photo of your document, and Drive will turn the document into a PDF that’s stored for safekeeping. And because Drive can recognize text in scanned documents using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, a simple search will retrieve the scanned document later. No more frantic scrambling through drawers looking for a receipt or digging through your pockets to find that business card -- just scan, upload and search in Drive.

The editing experience in Google Sheets has also gotten some improvements: now you can adjust font types and sizes for a spreadsheet and tweak the cell text colors and cell alignment right from the app. Plus, the Drive app comes with Cloud Print support so you can print anything from Drive with a Cloud Ready printer -- perfect if you need to, say, print that extra resume right before a job interview.

YouTube وكايرو دار: حتى يحصل الطلاب على التعليم متى وأينما كانوا

يبلغ عدد الطلاب الذين سجلوا للحصول على اختبارات الثانوية العامة داخل مصر وخارجها، والمقرر عقدها خلال شهر حزيران (يونيو) الجاري، نصف مليون تقريبًا. ولذلك يتسابق الطلاب لتلقي المراجعات النهائية في شكل منظم يؤهلهم لدخول الامتحانات. والآن أصبح بإمكان الطلاب الاستمتاع براحة البال من خلال ما يوفره لهم كل من YouTube وكايرو دار اللذين دشنا مركزًا على منصة YouTube يتضمن محتوى تعليميًا يغطي جميع مواد الثانوية العامة البالغ عددها 17 مادة.

من خلال الشراكة بين كايرو دار وYouTube سيتم توفير محتوى منهج الثانوية العامة وملخصات مراجعتها عبر الإنترنت في شكل مقاطع فيديو مفيدة يسهل الوصول إليها عبر تقنيات Google ومن خلال قناة كايرو دار على YouTube.

يتجاوز عدد الطلاب المتوقع تلقيهم امتحانات الثانوية العامة في مصر هذا العام 418 ألف طالب؛ ولذلك يمثل هذا المركز التعليمي فكرة واعدة ومصدرًا لا غنى عنه لمئات الآلاف من الطلاب. ويستفيد من هذا المركز على وجه الخصوص الطلاب المقيمون خارج نطاق المدن الرئيسية ممن لا يتوفر لديهم دائمًا خيار الالتحاق بمجموعات دروس خصوصية أو أنه يعد خيارًا مكلفًا بالنسبة لهم. وإلى جانب الطلاب المقيمين في مصر، من المتوقع أيضًا أن يستفيد من هذا المركز التعليمي إلى حد كبير الطلاب المصريون المقيمون في الخارج ممن يسجلون لحضور امتحانات دبلومة الثانوية العامة المصرية هذا الصيف في المملكة العربية السعودية، ويبلغ عددهم 28334 طالبًا، وفي إيطاليا، ويبلغ عددهم 2168 طالبًا.

يغطي المركز جميع المواد البالغ عددها 17 مادة (بما في ذلك بعض المواد باللغة الإنجليزية) من خلال 900 مقطع فيديو تتراوح مدة كل مقطع منها من 10 إلى 15 دقيقة. وقد تم إعداد مقاطع الفيديو هذه بواسطة كايرو دار وعلى يد مدرسين مختصين في المواد التي يدرسونها.

ويتناول المحتوى التعليمي على قناة YouTube جميع المواد باختلاف أشكالها وعلى نطاق واسع وبتنسيقات سهلة الاستخدام وفي قوائم تشغيل منظمة إلى حد كبير. كما تم إعداد مقاطع فيديو إضافية مخصصة للمراجعة والملخصات تتناول كل مادة:

YouTube and CairoDar: Taking Education To Students, Wherever and Whenever They Are

With nearly half a million students inside and outside of Egypt taking the secondary grade diploma examinations this coming June, students are scrambling to get their final revisions in order and be better prepared for their exams. Egyptian students can breathe a sigh of relief as YouTube and CairoDar have launched a hub on the platform with educational content that covers all 17 subjects.

The collaboration between CairoDar and YouTube brings the 3rd year secondary school (Thanaweya Amma) curriculum content and revision summaries online in useful and easily accessible video format via Google technologies on CairoDar’s YouTube channel.

With more than 418,000 students taking the exam this year in Egypt; the educational hub promises to become an useful asset for hundreds of thousands of students. This is especially true for students outside of major cities for whom private tutorship groups are not always an option or are costly. In addition to students in Egypt, the educational hub will prove extremely useful for Egyptian students living abroad who are also taking the exams this Summer with 28,334 students applying for the Egyptian secondary diploma in KSA and 2,168 students in Italy.

The hub covers all 17 subjects (including some in English) with more than 900 videos lasting 10 - 15 minutes long each. The videos produced by CairoDar feature expert teachers who are specialized in their respective subjects.

The educational content on the YouTube channel extensively covers all the different subjects in easy-to-use formats in highly organized playlists. Additional summary revision-specific videos have been developed for each subject:

The 100 Questions: Key 100 questions required for revision (based on critical topics & past exams)

The Night Before Summary: recaps for each subject for night before revision.

Highly organized playlists on the CairoDar channel with dedicated playlists for each subject in addition to being able to view the content on phones

In addition to the 3rd secondary grade, CairoDar is planning to introduce content for two transitional years, the 1st and 2nd secondary grades later this year. CairoDar is also planning to introduce live-revision sessions via Google+ Hangouts On Air to students on their Google+ page later this Summer.

Google Celebrates Mother’s Day in Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco

Today, Google celebrates Mother’s Day on the Tunisian, Algerian and Moroccan domains. This day is dedicated to celebrating and honoring the numerous contributions of motherhood. The day is commonly celebrated in many countries around the world on the 21st of March every year.

The celebration was introduced to Egypt by journalist “Mustafa Amin” in 1943 but was later made official by late-President Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1956 when he declared the 21st of March an official day of celebrating mothers. The practice was then copied by other Arab countries in the region.

The innovative doodle presented by Google depicts a mother, standing while wearing her string of pearls and celebrating her special day as her children prepare a cake with a party setting in the background in order to celebrate her special day of the year. The Google logo is blended in against the doodle.

Doodles are known as the decorative changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate different people, events or special dates such as holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists and scientists. تحتفل Google اليوم بعيد إستقلال المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية على نطاق Google الخاص بالمملكة www.google.com.jo في مثل هذا اليوم في ال-25 من مايو (ايار) 1946، تم إلغاء الحماية البريطانية على المنطقة التي كانت تعرف انذاك كإمارة شرق الأردن مما أدي إلى استقلالهم وإعلان قيام المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية.

احتلت بريطانيا المنطقة التي تحتوي فلسطين والأردن بعد هزيمة الإمبراطورية العثمانية في الحرب العالمية الأولي. تم تقسيم المنطقة في 1920 وتم وضعها تحت حكم عبدالله بن حسين في 1921. تم الإعتراف بالأردن كبلد مستقل من قبل البريطانيين في 1923 وتم وضعها تحت الحماية البريطانية.

في الخامس والعشرين من مايو (ايار) في 1946، وافقت منظمة الأمم المتحدة على إلغاء الحماية البريطانية إلى منطقة إمارة شرق الأردن وإعلانها دولة مستقلة. وأعلن البرلمان الأردني عبدالله كأول ملك للمملكة الأردنية الهاشمية.

Google Celebrates Jordan Independence Day

Today, Google celebrates Jordan’s Independence Day on the Jordanian Google domain www.google.com.jo. The day marks the abolishment of the British mandate over what was then known as Transjordan and their subsequent independence, sovereignty and proclamation of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The area occupied by modern-day Jordan - including Palestine - was taken by the British from the Ottoman Turkish empire in World War I. Transjordan was separated from Palestine in 1920 and placed under the rule of Abdullah Ibn Hussein in 1921. The country was recognized as an independent country by the British in 1923, making it subject to British mandate.

On the 25th of May in 1946, the United Nations approved the end of the British Mandate over the Transjordan region and recognized it as an independent and sovereign kingdom.The Transjordanian Parliament proclaimed King Abudullah as the first King with the country’s name being later changed to “the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan”.

The innovative doodle presented by Google depicts the Jordanian flag colors across the Google logo with the first stamp in the country’s history in the middle. The stamp carries nationalistic elements from Jordan such as the olive branch and the dove.

تطبيق +Google على أجهزة Android: الميزة رقم 42

استكمالاً لما طرحناه الأسبوع الماضي من ميزات بلغ عددها 41 ميزة، يسعدنا اليوم أن نطرح تحديثًا مهمًا آخر وهو تطبيق جديد تمامًا يعمل على Android. في ما يلي لمحة سريعة عن التحسينات التي سيتم إدخالها على الصور والمواقع وساحة المشاركات.

صور رائعة في وقت أقل

يستغرق تنظيم الصور وتعديلها وقتًا طويلاً، ونظرًا لأهمية هذا الوقت بالنسبة إليك فقد فكرنا في هذا التحديث لنساعدك في الحصول على صور أجمل في وقت أقصر. وتتضمن تجربة الصور الجديدة على Android ما يلي:

ميزة "Auto Backup"، لتخزين الصور في مكان خاص وآمن بمجرد التقاطها

ميزة "Auto Highlight"، لتصفح مجموعة من أفضل اللقطات من بين كل مجموعة صور تضيفها

ميزة "Auto Enhance"، لإدخال تحسينات دقيقة على الأشخاص والأماكن في الصور تلقائيًا

ميزة "Auto Awesome"، لإدخال عناصر إثارة على نسخ جديدة من الصور (مثل الرسوم المتحركة والصور البانورامية) استنادًا إلى الصور المتوفرة في مكتبتك

ولبدء استخدام هذه الميزات لن يلزمك سوى تحميل بعض الصور والانتقال بعد ذلك إلى قسم الصور في تطبيق Android الجديد. وبعد ذلك يمكنك الاطلاع على "الإضاءات" ومراجعة تحسينات Google (وبالطبع يمكنك أيضًا التراجع عنها) والاستمتاع بمشاهدة أية صور تم إدخال تعديلات رائعة عليها.

بعد الانتهاء من أعباء مهام التقاط الصور في العمل، قد تشعر بالرغبة في إدخال مزيد من التحسينات الفنية عليها، ولذلك نقدم لك أدوات إضافية أيضًا. تتضمن التحديثات التي ندخلها اليوم على Android بعض أدوات التصوير الحائزة على جوائز في تطبيق Snapseed، وتتنوع هذه الأدوات لتشمل فلاتر مثل Drama وRetrolux علاوة على أدوات تحكم أكثر دقة مثل التحكم في تشبع الألوان والتباين، وكل ذلك داخل التطبيق.

وبذلك توفر لك تحسينات الصور التي نقدمها اليوم وسيلة سهلة وممتعة لالتقاط الصور وجعلها تبدو رائعة.

مشاركة الموقع مع الدوائر المناسبة فقط

إذا أراد شخص ما (وفقًا لرغبته فقط) مشاركة موقعه معك، فسيظهر لك في الوقت الحالي مكان وجوده على ملفه الشخصي في +Google. واليوم ندخل تحسينًا على هذه التجربة من خلال تضمين قسم "المواقع" الجديد في تطبيق Android. يؤدي النقر على "المواقع" إلى عرض المواقع الحالية لأصدقائك على الخريطة، مما يسهل عليك وضع خطط للالتقاء بهم.

لا يقتصر ما نقدمه من تحديثات اليوم على الصور والموقع وساحة المشاركات، ذلك أن الإشعارات الآن أصبحت تبدو في شكل أفضل وأسهل في الاستخدام. الآن يمكنك تعديل حقوق إضافية في الملف الشخصي أثناء التنقل. كما يمكنك الدخول بمجرد نقرة واحدة إلى تطبيق Hangouts الجديد — وغير ذلك الكثير من الميزات.

من المقرر طرح تطبيق +Google على أجهزة Android في سوق Google Play وذلك على مدار اليوم، حيث يمكنك البحث عن التحديث (الإصدار 4.0) وإرسال رأيك فيه إلينا. وبالطبع ترقب الميزة رقم 43.

Following up on last week’s 41 new features, we’re launching another major update: a brand new Android app. Here’s a quick look at the improvements in photos, location, and the stream.

Great photos, in less time

Organizing and editing photos takes lots of time — time most of us don’t have — so today’s update helps you make more beautiful images faster. The new photos experience on Android includes:

Auto Backup, to safely and privately store your photos as you snap them

Auto Highlight, to browse a selection of top shots from every set of photos you add

Auto Enhance, to make subtle improvements to the people and places in your images, automatically

Auto Awesome, to create fun new versions of your pictures (like animations and panoramas) based on the photos in your library.

Getting started with these features is as simple as uploading a few pictures, then visiting the Photos section of the new Android app. There you can view your Highlights, review Google’s enhancements (and undo them, of course), and enjoy any awesome’d pictures you’ve got waiting for you.

Once you’re freed from labor-intensive photo tasks, you may discover an appetite for more artistic enhancements, and we’ve got you covered there too. Today’s Android update includes some of Snapseed’s award-winning photography tools — from filters like Drama and Retrolux to more specific controls like saturation and contrast — all inside the app.

All together, today’s photo improvements make it easy and enjoyable to take your photographs, and make them great.

Location sharing, with just the right circles

If (and only if) someone’s sharing their location with you, you’ll see their current whereabouts on their Google+ profile. Today we’re improving this experience by including a new “Locations” section in the Android app. Tapping “Locations” will display your friends’ current locations on a map, making it easier to make plans and meet up.

As always: you decide whether to share your location, and with whom. And you can always turn the feature on or off in settings.

More to explore, directly from the stream

Last week we talked about how most feeds are rather flat. You can swipe through stuff that’s been shared with you, but it’s really hard to read more about a particular topic. We introduced related hashtags as a way to fix this problem, and today we’re bringing them to the Android app. These Google-added tags will appear at the top-right of individual posts (#GoogleIO2013, in this example), and tapping on them will reveal streams of relevant content:

You can always remove Google-added tags from your own content (on single posts, or on all of them). And we always give preference to the tags you add manually. We’re just excited about giving people new ways to explore the stuff they’re into.

More on the way

Photos, location and the stream are only some of the things we’ve improved in today’s update. Notifications are nicer to look at and easier to use. You can edit additional profile fields on the go. And there’s one-tap access to the all new Hangouts app — just to name a few.

Google+ for Android is rolling out to Google Play throughout the day, so look for the update (v4.0), and let us know what you think. And of course: stay tuned for 43.

انضمام متحف الآثار الإسلامية في الكويت إلى مشروع Google Art

أعلن متحف دار الآثار الإسلامية بالكويت اليوم بالاشتراك مع Google أنه بصدد إضافة ثلاثة أعمال فنية من مجموعة المتحف لعرضها بدقة عالية في مشروع Google Art. وقد وقع الاختيار على ثلاثة أعمال فنية، من بينها "خراج العالم" وجرة زرقاء لامعة من الكوبالت وحجر جيري منقوش بنتوآت، لإدخالها في مشروع Google Art. وتتيح درجة الدقة العالية لهذه الصور، بالإضافة إلى أداة عرض مصممة خصيصًا لتوفر ميزة التكبير والتصغير، لمحبي الفنون إمكانية استكشاف الجوانب الدقيقة لهذه الأعمال الفنية التي ربما لم يسبق لهم رؤيتها عن قُرب من قبل.

وتأتي هذه الشراكة في إطار أعمال توسعة عالمية لمشروع Google Art، الذي أصبح يضم الآن أكثر من 250 شريكًا على مستوى العالم. وتوفر أحدث الإضافات 1500 عمل فني بدقة عالية إلى الموقع، وبذلك يصبح إجمالي عدد العناصر عالية الدقة وغيرها من الأعمال الفنية يتجاوز 40 ألفًا. وبذلك تكون آخر دفعة من الإضافات إلى مشروع Google Art هي الدفعة الأكبر على الإطلاق. ويعد متحف دار الآثار الإسلامية في الكويت ثاني متحف من متاحف العالم العربي ينضم إلى مشروع Google Art وذلك بعد انضمام متحف الفن الإسلامي بقطر العام الماضي.

ويتيح التعاون مع مشروع Google Art للمشاهدين متعة مشاهدة "خراج العالم"، وهو عقد كبير من الياقوت (يزن 249.31 قيراطًا) تم تصميمه على شكل دمعة العين مع نتوآت بارزة أسفل الجانب الأيمن مع قسم مجملن في المقدمة وجزء مستوٍ تقريبًا في النهاية. وقد تم ثقب الحجر بالعرض في الطرف الأعلى كما يحمل نقوشًا في المقدمة عليها أسماء ستة حكام. كما سيتم عرض عنصر آخر وهو عبارة عن جرة زرقاء لامعة من الكوبالت تسحر الأعين وتشتهر بتصميمها الذي خُط عليه اسم صانعها ومالكها ومدينة صناعتها. وهناك عناصر أخرى تمت إضافتها بدرجة دقة عالية وهي نقش بارز من الحجر الجيري يعد واحدًا من البقايا الأثرية النادرة للقلعة الأموية بمدينة عَمان الأردنية.

وقالت الشيخة حصة الصباح، مديرة متحف دار الآثار الإسلامية في الكويت وشريكة في ملكية مجموعة الصباح، "مشاركة التحف الفنية مع محبيها هو شرف، والأن يمكن للمزيد من الناس حول العالم الإستمتاع بها من خلال مشروع Google Art".

يمكن لزائري مشروع Google Art استعراض الأعمال الفنية بحسب اسم الفنان الذي صممها، أو باسم العمل الفني نفسه، أو بنوع الفن، أو باسم المتحف، أو اسم البلد، أو اسم المجموعات وفترتها الزمنية. وقد تم دمج خدمتي +Google وHangouts عبر الفيديو على الموقع، مما يتيح للمشاهدين توجيه الدعوة لأصدقائهم من أجل الاطلاع على الأعمال الفنية المفضلة لديهم وطرحها للنقاش من خلال دردشة فيديو أو متابعة جولة إرشادية يقدمها أحد الخبراء للحصول على خلفية عن موضوع معين أو مجموعة فنية معينة.

وتتيح ميزة "معرضي" للمستخدمين حفظ مناظر محددة من أي عمل فني وتصميم معرض مخصص بأنفسهم. يمكن إضافة تعليقات على كل عمل من هذه الأعمال بالإضافة إلى إمكانية مشاركة المعرض بالكامل بعد ذلك مع الأصدقاء والعائلة. وتعد هذه أداة مثالية يمكن للطلاب والمجموعات التعاون على إنجاز مشروعات وتجميع أعمال من خلالها. علاوة على ذلك، هناك ميزة تُعرف باسم "مقارنة" وتتيح لك فحص قطعتين من الأعمال الفنية جنبًا لجنب لمعرفة كيفية تطور أسلوب الفنان بمرور الوقت وللربط بين توجهات الثقافات المختلفة أو لفحص تفاصيل جزئين من عمل واحد فحصًا متعمقًا.

وتقول مها أبو العينين، مسؤولة العلاقات العامة في Google بالشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا أن التعاون بين مشروع Google Art ومتحف دار الآثار الإسلامية يمكِّن من الترويج للأعمال الفنية في المتحف على مستوى قاعدة عريضة جدًا من الجمهور كما يساعد على الحفاظ عليها. وتضيف أبو العينين أن التعاون بين المشروع والمتحف إلى جانب شركاء آخرين من جميع أنحاء العالم يهدف إلى حث عدد أكبر من الجماهير على استكشاف مدى حبهم للفنون وحثهم كذلك على زيارة الأعمال الفنية الملموسة بأنفسهم في المتحف.

يعد مشروع Google Art جزءًا من معهد Google الثقافي المعني بتصميم وسائل تكنولوجية تساعد المجتمع الثقافي على وضع ما يزخر به من أعمال فنية وأرشيفات ومواقع ومواد تراثية على الإنترنت. والهدف من ذلك هو زيادة نطاق وحجم المواد التي يعرضها العالم الثقافي ليتمكن الجمهور من استكشافها عبر الإنترنت، وبذلك نضفي طابعًا ديمقراطيًا على الوصول إليها والحفاظ عليها ليستمتع بها أجيال المستقبل.

Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah Museum in Kuwait Joins the Google Art Project

Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah museum in Kuwait announced today in collaboration with Google that it is adding three high resolution artworks from their collection to the Google Art Project. The three artworks, including the “Timur Ruby”, a cobalt blue glaze jar and a limestone carved in relief were selected to become part of the Google Art Project. The resolution of these images, combined with a custom built zoom viewer, allows art-lovers to discover minute aspects of paintings they may never have seen up close before.

The partnership is part of a global expansion of Art Project, which now counts more than 250 partners around the globe. The latest additions bring 1,500 high resolution artworks to the site, taking the total number of high resolution objects and other artworks to more than 40,000. This makes the latest installment of the Google Art Project the largest one yet. Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah museum in Kuwait is the second museum in the Arab region to become part of the Google Art Project after the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar last year.

“Sharing artefacts is a joy. Now more people can enjoy them through the Google Art Project.” stated Sheikha Hussah al-Sabah, Director General of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah museum in Kuwait and co-owner of Al-Sabah collection.

The collaboration with the Google Art Project allows viewers to feast their eyes on the "Timur Ruby" a large spinel drop (249.31 carats), roughly teardrop shaped with a pronounced indentation on the lower right, of gabled section on the front and near flat at the back. the stone is transversely drilled at the upper end, and inscribed on the front with the names of six rulers. Another item on display is an exquisite cobalt blue glazed jar which is renowned for the fact that the names of both the maker, the owner and the city of manufacture is incorporated into the overall calligraphic design. Other items included in high resolution is a carved limestone relief which is one of very few architectural remains from the Umayyad citadel complex of Amman in Jordan.

Visitors to the Google Art Project can browse works by the artist’s name, the artwork, the type of art, the museum, the country, collections and the time period. Google+ and video hangouts are integrated on the site, allowing viewers to invite their friends to view and discuss their favourite works in a video chat or follow a guided tour from an expert to gain an appreciation of a particular topic or art collection.

The ‘My Gallery’ feature allows users to save specific views of any of artworks and build their own personalised gallery. Comments can be added to each painting and the whole gallery can then be shared with friends and family. It’s an ideal tool for students or groups to work on collaborative projects or collections. In addition, a feature called ‘Compare’ allows you to examine two pieces of artwork side-by-side to look at how an artist’s style evolved over time, connect trends across cultures or delve deeply into two parts of the same work.

The Art Project is part of the Google Cultural Institute which is dedicated to creating technology that helps the cultural community to bring their art, archives, heritage sites and other material online. The aim is to increase the range and volume of material from the cultural world that is available for people to explore online and in doing so, democratise access to it and preserve it for future generations

عندما تم تدشين موقع YouTube في أيار (مايو) 2005، لم يكن أحد يتصور أبدًا هذا القدر الهائل من وسائل الإلهام ونقل المعلومات والترفيه التي تقدموها لنا كل يوم.

واليوم يتم تحميل أكثر من 100 ساعة من الفيديو على YouTube كل دقيقة. وهذا يعني أنه يتم تحميل أكثر من 4 أيام من الفيديو كل دقيقة! كما يزور موقع YouTube كل شهر أكثر من مليار شخص بهدف الحصول على أخبار، والإجابة عن أسئلة وقضاء وقت ممتع. وهذا الرقم يعني أن هناك زائرًا واحدًا لموقع YouTube من بين كل اثنين يستخدمان الإنترنت.

Here’s to eight great years

When YouTube’s site first launched in May 2005, we never could have imagined the endless ways in which you would inspire, inform and entertain us every day.

Today, more than 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. That’s more than four days of video uploaded each minute! Every month, more than 1 billion people come to YouTube to access news, answer questions and have a little fun. That’s almost one out of every two people on the Internet.

Millions of partners are creating content for YouTube and more than 1000 companies worldwide have mandated a 1 hour mid-day break to watch nothing but funny YouTube videos. Well, we made that last stat up, but that would be cool (the other stats are true).

Over the years, you’ve continued to surprise and delight us. And the past year was no exception. Who would have guessed that a tux-rocking K-pop star would shatter records left and right or that Sesame Street would go global with 1 billion views? That’s one of our favorite things about our global audience: you’re as unpredictable as you are creative and irreverent.

And so, on our eighth birthday, we’d like to thank you for making YouTube the special place that it is. For showing us how video can create connections, transcend borders and make a difference. For clicking these links even if you aren’t sure what they’ll be, but you trust us. In short, thanks for making us better in big ways and small ones, too.
