Something that comes up a lot for me is the ongoing discussion of whether a church should use their FOH mix for streaming or if they should do a dedicated mix. While I think a dedicated mix always has a higher quality potential, in most cases I recommend using the FOH mix. I usually believe it is better stewardship to focus resources where they will have the largest benefit, and in most cases it is on making the room experience the best it can from both operator skills to the equipment and environment.

So, I recently put out a video going through my process of re-mastering a FOH mix for streaming purposes while explaining some of the challenges we face in doing this. The specific brands and models have changed, but I’ve used this process for years. It’s a pretty long video, but there are chapter markers if you would like to skip around.

If you need some help improving your mix in the room and online, I’d love to chat. Please reach out to me through my contact page, and we can set something up.
