Dealing with Unproductive Employees

How do people become unproductive in companies? Why do we not see so many unproductive people in startups? This is primarily because of top-tier bosses, who Mark Cuban calls empire builders, who don’t understand the capabilities of each employee. In the realm of business, sadly enough, one size does not fit all.

Startups generally manage to keep the person count down to the bare minimum and so they rarely have unproductive employees. Then again, there are a lot of companies that are multi-tiered but masquerade as a startup. Such companies are usually filled with unhappy people.

It is important to clearly define responsibilities and ensure that there is a timeline involved. A lack of clarity can only result in disaster. Motivate your employees and keep them interested and you wont have unproductive employees. And, when you say you’re ‘hiring talent,’ you had better not be kidding yourself.

How the Dutch got their cycle paths back.

The Netherlands pride themselves on having a high quality network of cycle paths. After the second world war, the Dutch found themselves richer and more prosperous and this resulted in a explosion in the number of car owners. Over time, concerns over the decrease in cycling and an alarming increase in accidents, especially among the kids, resulted in widespread protests. This coupled with the oil crisis led the Dutch to try programs like ‘car-free Sundays’ and the 'car-free shopping complexes.’

This is an inspiring video of one nation reclaimed their cycle paths and made their country safe and pollution-free.
