Given the current state of the job market, being able to stand out with your job applications for teaching positions is more important than ever; this means being able to make the most of your skills and your past experience, while getting the basics right when it comes to putting together your forms. Look at what an employer expects from you, as well as whether or not you have to produce anything extra for an application, and make sure that you specify why you’d be right for a particular school.

Getting the Basics Right

Common mistakes that can damage any job application include not taking the time to check over your application before sending it out – basic spelling and grammar mistakes can make the difference between your application being looked at in more detail, or being discarded – this applies to your CV, application form, and your cover letter. In this context, it’s always worth getting someone to double check your application before you send it.

Also, make sure that you read through a job description as carefully as possible to see what they specifically want from you – if an employer only wants a 4 page CV, don’t send them 6, for example. Moreover, ensure that you address every point listed on a job specification page, even if they don’t always apply to your situation. Keep things concise, and focus on understanding what an employer is aiming for.

Making Yourself Stand Out

A major part of getting your job application right is being able to understand how you can tailor your experience and particular skills to a post; this means how you can focus on converting your training and any other teaching experience into a clear story; similarly, make sure that you can identify any gaps in your experience that can be explained and used to demonstrate your commitment towards improving yourself.

It’s also important to not claim too much, or to over sell yourself – having a complicated teaching philosophy is admirable, but many employers will only want an impression of your plans in this area; again, go through an application pack to see what an employer is asking from you, and try not to deviate from that too much. Remember that more detailed questions may be asked in a future interview.

If your application is well presented, and if you’ve shown that you’ve taken the time to properly a read a job advert, and not just copied and pasted your information for the umpteenth time, it’s possible to give yourself the best shot at a job. Spending those extra few hours on writing a cover letter can make a significant difference to the final success of your application. Treat each job application as its own unique thing, and avoid getting into the habit of firing off as many applications as possible without taking the appropriate care for each one.

Author bio : Lisa Jane has worked in education for several years, and encourages anyone writing job applications to get the basics right. She recommends using GSL Education for finding out about the latest teaching jobs.

Every store that steps into online is looked upon with interest by the prospective buyer and looked upon as a prospective competitor by other online stores dealing with similar products and services. Jabong is no exception and its products and offers do create a sense of awe amidst shoppers and other online stores. Being a junior, it is indeed an achievement that it was able to rouse the interest of all concerned and let us see if it is going to live up to its initial promise to pose threat to Snapdeal, one of its many seniors.

Jabong’s Story

Jabong made its way into the online world in the year 2012. It immediately became the talk of the town with a stunning product range of over 50000. The products include apparels, home appliances, kitchen appliances, jewellery and accessories. In its first year online, the site recorded highest traffic amongst Indian online stores.

Snapdeal’s History

Snapdeal entered online in the year 2010. The online store has an exhaustive collection of products, which include apparels, mobiles, computers, cameras, books, sports items, footwear, jewellery, home appliances, kitchen appliances and a lot more.

Range Of Products – Snapdeal Wins the Deal

Though Jabong has an impressive collection of products, Snapdeal scores convincingly over Jabong in product range. Apart from the wide category of products, the quantity in most of the categories is very impressive in Snapdeal. Hence, the first round goes in favor of Snapdeal.

Quality – A Fine Display By Jabong

Jabong deals with branded products and hence it offers quality for your money. Snapdeal does well but reviews show that Snapdeal has more to do in this area to undo all negative opinions created about its products. As far as quality is concerned, Jabong is stronger.

Rate – No Undue Stress On Your Wallet

The price offered by both online stores are highly competitive and hence you can have no complaints regarding being over charged. While Snapdeal offers products on various price ranges thanks to its splendid collection of products, Jabong offers end of season sale where you enjoy discounts on products up to 60%. Both Jabong and Snapdeal offer Jabong coupon codes and Snapdeal coupons respectively and hence you are never charged in excess. On the contrary, using their coupons, you stand to gain a lot.

Customer Service – Both Fail To Impress

This is an area where most of the online stores fail. Online stores need to be more guarded here as it takes a lot to get people to trust to make online purchases. Once a customer gets in, it is the duty of the online store to ensure that the customer returns satisfied about the purchase and the service after sale. Snapdeal has not performed to its potential. Jabong, on the other hand, has not received as many complaints as Snapdeal has received. At the same time, it has not received as many reviews either. Going by the reviews, it could be said that Jabong needs to improvise its customer service.

Jabong offers lesser range but better quality. Jabong has done well in yet another important area and that is effective marketing. Its end of season sale is an excellent offer that attracted more visitors to its site. Though Jabong may not be an immediate threat to Snapdeal, with increased product range and quality customer service, it might hand Snapdeal a tough deal.

Funding an education in UK, is not the easy thing it used to be. Gone are the days when overseas education and home education were subsidised by the state. So the student has to consider alternative funding sources for his or her trip abroad.

1: Student Loan

While the fees structure for going to university has changed, the source for money hasn’t. The student loan was always available to students prior to the education fees change. It still is, only now the amount of money lent is considerably bigger, designed (where the student is eligible) to cover all the fees associated with going on into higher education.

Studying abroad can be part of a UK based course – for example American Studies, which gives a gap year to the student in question, studying in a college in the USA. IN cases like this, the course fees paid through a student loan should cover overseas learning as well.

2: The British Council

The British Council awards a number of scholarships and support bursaries to students wishing to study abroad. To apply for funding, it is necessary to contact the British Council direct. They’ll be able to tell you whether there are any bursaries available for the overseas study you wish to undertake, and what criteria you need to satisfy in order for it to be awarded.

3: Mum and Dad

The Bank of Mum and Dad is still one of the most popular ways for students to fund their education, particularly since state assistance for higher educational fees was withdrawn. Where there is money available, it can be easier and safer to borrow from Mum and Dad – who either lend you the money or give it to you. If you borrow the money, you can arrange a repayment plan that doesn’t carry the burden of interest – normally, of course, associated with the prospect of borrowing from a bank.

4: Independent Bursaries

There are a range of independent bursaries available, some provided by charitable organisations with a remit to assist students in getting the money they need. In normal circumstances educational charities are set up to help students unable to find finance through the means already discussed. Look at the Educational Grants Advisory Service for up to date information on current bursaries.

5: University Awards

Some universities and colleges have their own funding awards schemes, normally in the form of bequests left them by wealthy former students or teachers. These bequests may be given out to students in need of funding assistance, provided the students in question are able to answer the criteria as set out in the award’s description. Again, funding of this nature is most usually applied to students unable to find money by other means – and will be fiercely contested, so be prepared to apply not only for this type of funding but for others as well.

6: The Government

While the Government has famously withdrawn financial support from the majority of British students, it does still provide money for education in some special cases. Every year, Government funding initiatives change; and every year the extant and new ones release details of their funding packages for the next 12 months. It is, then, necessary for students looking for this extra funding to keep their eyes on the ball, and to find out what might be available for application when they are ready to think about an overseas education.

This is true of colleges and schools at every level of the educational system. From Lansdowne independent sixth form college to a local public school, pupils looking to spread their wings and take the next step have to learn how to fund their higher education.

Really, there’s only one way to search for the most recent PR week jobs of your choice: and that’s to use the PR Week jobs search service to look for what you want.

Obviously there are ways and there are ways – so for example having a good CV is one important factor, without which you will be less likely to land the job of your choice. So the first two ways are to learn how to use the search filters, and to learn how to use your CV and your PR week jobs profile to attract the interest you need.

There are three ways to find PR week jobs directly on the site – by creating an account, uploading a CV and signing up to receive job notification via email. In this way, you can search for any roles that interest you (using the specific job type filters or the advanced search function); you can hope that your CV attracts attention in the right places; and you can also see at a glance whether new jobs have been uploaded that may fit your bill.

While your CV is important for specific roles, it is worth remembering that a general CV may not land you any role at all. In basic terms, it’s often more useful to create a specific CV for a specific role and send this directly with your application. In this way you can pick out the most relevant pieces of your skills, and highlight them as they apply to the role in question.

The problem with uploading a generalised CV is this – it tends to sound like you are quite good at everything without being outstanding at anything. The temptation is to create an all-purpose business CV suited to finding any PR Week jobs you might be interested in. This is not useful and can damage your long term prospects for success.

So one of the other ways in which you may find the best PR Week jobs for your own needs, is to interact more with the site’s advice and helpsections. You’ll find regular articles posted delivering help and advice on all aspects of the job hunting process – from identifying roles that may be well suited to your skills and your temperament, to creating the application package most likely to get you an interview.

Clearly, if you are looking specifically at PR Week jobs then your special areas of expertise must lie somewhere in the field of PR. This, at least, can form a start for a basic CV if you choose to upload a single sample. Pull together only your PR experiences as major points. You can list the other experiences you have had as bullet points, which can then be expanded in the event that you tailor the CV to specific role in a specific industry.

A key element to successful job hunting is taking all the help you can get. When you look for the PR Week jobs most likely to please you, accept the advice and help of professionals and experts.

WordPress started out as a blogging platform, but it’s rapidly being adopted as a popular option for a content management system. The platform has some real advantages where SEO is concerned, particularly if you’re using Professional wordpress themes that are designed for businesses.

WordPress as a platform provides critical SEO advantages:

Validated Code

Commercially available themes will generally advertise that their code has been validated. This means that it’s been checked to make sure that it conforms to World Wide Web Consortium standards and that the search engines will be able to read your content, follow your links and will regard you as a legitimate site. This is a significant advantage when you compare commercial themes to free themes, the latter sometimes not being validated or properly coded.

Scheduled Updates

Despite the recent changes to Google’s search engine filters, updating regularly still does have advantages to it. WordPress allows you to upload posts and to schedule them to post publically whenever you like, which makes it quite simple to make sure that you’re adding fresh content.

Responsive Themes

Quite a few businesses are going to be facing high web design costs as they have their sites revamped to accommodate mobile users. Mobile Internet browsers come in so many different configurations in terms of screen size and layout that sites that to be able to adjust themselves to accommodate a wide variety of display issues. Responsive themes do this and many WordPress themes have been designed in this way.

Archives

WordPress makes it easy to archive your content, which, in turn, makes it easy for you to create an extensive resource for your visitors. As you build up content, having a navigation system that makes it easy to sort through is vital. The tagging system and other organizational features in WordPress make it an excellent SEO tool in that you’re able to create something that the search engine will recognize as being useful.

Plug-ins and Widgets

WordPress is very easy to use as far as adding features to your site is concerned. Adding features like social media links, feeds from other sites and other beneficial enhancements allows you to create something unique and worthwhile, which is exactly what the search engines want to be sending their users to.

Backend Controls

You can easily change metatags and other SEO elements of your page from the backend when you’re using a framework with a theme, which makes WordPress even easier to use and to optimize for the search engines.

I would really like to thank Lisa for writing such a wonderul post and helping us gain an HR persepctive to corporate social responsbility. really work? And before I go too much further I’d like to say that even if it is proven to be less economically savvy, it’s still a better way of doing things. Anyone involved in CSR jobs,

I take my hat off to you.So let’s define our terms before we get on. What is Corporate Social Responsibility, and what are CSR jobs?Well, Corporate Social Responsibility, from hereon in referred to as CSR, is the idea that a company can and should act responsibly – towards its environment and towards all the people whom its actions affect. CSR jobs are positions Corporate Social Responsibility: does it in which qualified people try to make sure that happens. An inevitable component of the CSR idea is giving – giving away money and services in some way, usually. And of course this comes in for a lot of flak by die hard capitalists, who (not content with already half-destroying the universe) can’t stand the idea that someone can get something for nothing. The same kind of people, in other words, who don’t believe in a welfare state until they lose their jobs, break their legs and suddenly need a hospital they can no longer pay for.

Anyway. CSR jobs will in part try to find ways in which a business can give back to the community in which it sits. This may take the form of what is basically a hand-out – the supply of training or resources in impoverished areas, for example – or it may take a more subtle form, often referred to as CSV (creating shared value).

CSV might, for instance, see a company building houses for its employees in the area. This certainly used to happen – you only have to visit the Midlands and the North to see hundreds of streets filled with the homes of ex-mill workers and factory employees. It’s a broadly socialist idea that views the business as the heart of a community, with the worker serving the business and the business looking after the worker.

For anyone with much experience of modern business methods this is clearly the exception to a rule – though fortunately the more we expose the extraordinary dealings of big business over the last 100 years, the more we’re moved to create CSR jobs and try to get some redress going.

Companies are slowly learning that CSR jobs can be a selling point – both internally and externally. That is, promising graduates or recruits may be more disposed to stay with companies practicing CSR. Both because the experience is a more pleasant one, and because the whole position is more morally defensible.

For too often and too long we’ve heard the phrase “it’s just business” used to describe an essentially immoral act, an act of transgression, destruction or even downright law-breaking. CSR jobs are welcome evidence of a shift in some perspectives – and maybe harbingers of a future where companies rediscover how to think properly about people and the environment.

Google drive promises to deliver much more to the users than pure synchronized online storage and it’s going to offer this amazing service at a price that is cheaper than the likes DropBox, Skydrive and icloud.

The core functionality remains could storage service that can be used to sync files across various devices. One can also view and share documents in various formats like HD videos, text files, images files etc. Using Google Drive you can primarily save and share information across multiple devices with multiple people. There is social media integration factor also integrate deep within the core offering.

HR professionals and recruiters around the world should pay close attention to this service from Google. As it will be a boon for recruiters to use cloud storage facility coupled with document management system. Google Drive has been built on its Google Document platform and it will enable user to save, manage, edit and share documents on the go and also sync the same across devices.

More than ever recruiters are leveraging the power of social media to drive their recruitment objectives. It’s become very critical for recruiters around the globe to integrate social media initiated with their conventional recruitment model. I have written an article some time ago on how to integrate social media with HR

As always there are early adopters of concepts and they generally reap the maximum benefit in the long run. I am sure that you are already using social media in one form or the other to leverage your social network for your recruitment assignments.

I came across a Bullhorn Reach research report on social recruiting and i would like to share the same here for people to get detailed analysis on different avenues that social media presents as an opportunity to enhance recruitment.

A in depth study of this report will give you clear indication on what’s working and what’s not in the social media space as far as recruitment is concerned.

I got tremendous insights from this report and i hope you do as well.

Happy Recruiting.

In recent times a lot of online/web 2.0 companies have been using Crowdsourcing as an initiative to market their products and services online. This method is being also used extensively by companies to strengthen their brand and their online reputation.

There are a lot of companies globally taking advantage of this age old practice by taking this concept online. The reason i am writing this article is that it’s interesting to see an Indian company using crowdsourcing as a technique to go viral online. I haven’t seen many Indian companies trying their hand at “online” Crowdsourcing.

This experiment comes from Zomato.com and i would like to congratulate the team at executing this campaign.

Zomato, India’s largest online food and lifestyle guide has launched a month long campaign to crowd-source its next television commercial. Named 20 Seconds to a Million, Zomato is looking to reach out to the video making community, amateurs, professionals or anybody who owns a camera and is creative, to create a 10 or 20 second commercial.

Two best commercials from this campaign will be taken live on TV and the creators will get a cash prize worth Rs. 5 Lakhs each (1 Million in total). Click here for further details on the campaign.

This site indeed offers good information on restaurants near you and if you are a foodie like me and want the information on your mobile here’s the link to get Zomato on mobile

.
