This was my first hand setup experience with the UPK & so as i expected i landed up with few issues during installation.

While deploying the UPK server on a local server, at the end of the installation, i received error:
ORA-12640: Authentication adapter initialization failed

I thought, there might be some issue due to the database. Went around searched & re-tried the installation, but it again failed due to the same error.

After further research, i found that this error is more related to the Oracle Client settings in sqlnet.ora

Below is the change i did in my sqlnet.ora file after which Oracle UPK Server Mode installation completed successfully:

SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
Changing this one to:
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NONE)

Keywords: Oracle UPK, Oracle User Productivity Kit, Oracle UPK Installation, ORA-12640, etc

The DLL 'SSCEACTVIEW.DLL' could not be loaded.(SBL-DAT-00170)

This can be achieved by noting down the Session ID value showed in UI for a particular Session & then finding the same in Administration - Server Management -> Tasks Screen as Task ID. i.e.
(Sessions Screen)Session ID= Task ID (Tasks Screen)
I know, its a very mechanical workaround, but when those annoying user-related or particular session related issues get reported in Production, we badly need this PIDs to see whats happening over the server ;-)

And yes...finally this has been admitted as a bug for Siebel 8.0 Platform.

Happy CRM Hunting! :-)
Keywords:Siebel, Siebel Systems, Siebel Session, Session PID, PIDs, PID, Process ID, Administration-Server Management, etc

Add Social Bookmarking Widgets: ShareThis-AddThis [How To]

All the historical audit trail information will be missing from UI due to the New Encoded Audit Trail storing mechanism introduced in Siebel 8.0

A major change in Siebel 8.0 is the query formed while retrieving the Audit Trail records:
"      WHERE
((T1.BC_BASE_TBL = ?) AND
(T1.RECORD_ID = ?))"

All Historical Audit Trail records would be having BC_BASE_TBL column as null causing this issue.
If you are thinking to populate this column using EIM, then it wont work as S_AUDIT_ITEM does not have the required userkeys.

So how to go about populating BC_BASE_TBL directly? We need to query S_BUSCOMP & get the Base Table name for each record.

I have wrote a PL/SQL Block for directly updating S_AUDIT_ITEM which will populate the BC_BASE_TBL for all the historical records inorder to resolve this issue...

############################################################
/* Update Audit Trail Historical Records for UI Visibility
Author:- Shalabhsneha Katdare (SHALABHKATDARE AT GMAIL.COM)
Version 1.0
*/

DECLARE

V_COUNT NUMBER:=0;
V_COUNT1 NUMBER:=0;
V_ROW_ID VARCHAR2(30);
V_ERR_MSG VARCHAR2(200);
v_Table_Name VARCHAR2(75);
v_Buscomp_Name VARCHAR2(75);

CURSOR CUR_AUDIT_RECORDS
IS
SELECT
ROW_ID, BUSCOMP_NAME
FROM
SIEBEL.S_AUDIT_ITEM
WHERE
BC_BASE_TBL is null;

BEGIN
FOR CUR1 IN CUR_AUDIT_RECORDS LOOP
EXIT WHEN CUR_AUDIT_RECORDS%NOTFOUND;

v_row_id := cur1.row_id;
v_Buscomp_Name := cur1.BUSCOMP_NAME;
V_COUNT:=V_COUNT+1;

select table_name into v_Table_Name from s_buscomp
where name=v_Buscomp_Name
and repository_id in (select row_id from s_repository where name='Siebel Repository');

if v_Table_Name is not null then
/* Its always a best practice to update LAST_UPD_BY, LAST_UPD & MODIFICATION_NUM while doing a backend update directly on Siebel Base Table*/

UPDATE
SIEBEL.S_AUDIT_ITEM
SET
BC_BASE_TBL = v_Table_Name
,LAST_UPD_BY='0-1'
,LAST_UPD = SYSDATE
,MODIFICATION_NUM = NVL(MODIFICATION_NUM,0)+1
WHERE
ROW_ID = CUR1.ROW_ID;
END IF;

/* A COMMIT Counter in order to commit after every 1000 records*/
IF V_COUNT>=1000 THEN
COMMIT;
V_COUNT:=0;
END IF;

END LOOP;
COMMIT;
EXCEPTION
WHEN OTHERS THEN
COMMIT;
/* Exception Handling Code if you want to add */
END;
/
##########################################################

I hope this helps to all who have recently upgraded to Siebel 8.0!
Welcome to Siebel 8.0 :)

Enjoy!
Keywords:
audit trail,audit trails,audit report,audit management,siebel crm,siebel, siebel systems,S_AUDIT_ITEM,BC_BASE_TBL,EIM,Historical Audit,etc

ESD [EMS 2012] Error: FindClass org/apache/catalina/startup/Bootstrap failed

A Fix Request has been raised, so lets see when this annoying issue of transparent buttons is officially fixed ;-)

Till then happy CRM hunting. :-)

Keywords:
siebel crm, swse, siebel swse, siebel, siebel systems, webservers, web servers, linux, unix, Sun One, Oracle HTTP Server, OHS 2.0, Apache 2.0, IIS, Siebel Web Server Extensions

Enabling Dynamic Pricing/Advanced Pricing Capabilities in Siebel 8.x/7.8.x

You can download it from Metalink. This patched release of JDeveloper includes all the FND packages and other requisite packages commonly used while writing Java Concurrent Programs. You may use Eclipse, but you will have to manually copy all the packages from Oracle Apps Server to your local machine and give its reference to the project.

Porting Third-Party Libraries

Ask the DBA to place all the requisite third-party libraries under $JAVA_TOP. Please close the Web browser, open a new browser window, and try logging in again.[14:58:04]"

While the SWSE Log file shows:
"ObjMgrSessionLog Error 1 0000000847670820:0 2007-12-18 12:47:44 Login failed for Login name : GUESTCTS
ProcessPluginState    ProcessPluginStateError    1    0000000847670820:0    2007-12-18 12:47:44      2112: [SWSE] Open Session failed (0x75eb4d) after      1.0381 seconds.
SisnapiLayerLog    Error    1    0000000947670820:0    2007-12-18 12:47:44       480: [SISNAPI] Async Thread: connection (0x1a097e8), error (1180682) while reading message"

Resolutions / Workarounds:
We have two resolutions or workarounds for this problem:

Manually create users GUEST & GUESTCTS in your database and assign them SSE_ROLE

Use SADMIN as High & Standard Interactivity User in the SWSE Logical Profile

So thats the basic reason, why generally the Thin Client Connectivity fails most of the time!
Hope, if you are installing for the first time & having this problem, then by now your thin client must be up & running! ;-)

Keywords: analytics,business objects,crm,crm software,crm solutions,customer relationship management,data warehouse,ecrm,eim,erp,j2ee,pivotal,salesnet,service oriented architecture,sibel,siebel,siebel analytics,siebel crm,siebel software,siebel support,siebel systems,siebel training,web crm,workflow

Create Hidden Command Prompt/CMD/COMMAND Process

Not all dongles are supporting
the same.
I used the Bluesoleil driver Version: 2.1.3.0 Release: 060429 (Check Image Below)

2)After the driver installation, install the Nokia 6600 PC Suite, version 1.1.0
Download from: http://www.nokia-asia.com/nokia/0,,59279,00.html

3)PC Suite successfully installed, now diverts us to the mRouter Connection Settings...
There are various COM port options to be selected, and after many trials i found the
correct settings. Check the attached picture to select exactly what is required in your
mRouter Connection Setting Box!

4)Restart your PC

5)Insert your Bluetooth Dongle in USB & start Bluesoleil

6)Start bluetooth on your Nokia 6600 & press F5 on Bluesoleil window. This would search
your Nokia 6600 & list it.

7)Right Click the device listed & select PAIR DEVICE. Feed in any random number, say 123 &
when prompted on your mobile feed the same so that both the devices are paired to each
other!

8)Now double click your Nokia Mobile Device, & the services supported by it would be
highlighted!

9)Double Click the COM Port icon & it would ask, do you always want the service at COM port
automatically activated for this device? Say YES!
Now, it would prompt your mobile phone, saying the PC is requesting for connection, say
YES!

10)Once this is done, wait for few minutes, the mRouter would start blinking & say
connected.

11)Open the Nokia 6600 PC Suite, & it would say new phone found! Bingo!!
Thats it, take backups, restore or sync your mobile with PC Suite!

If you face any problems in this, just ask!

Enjoy the power of Nokia 6600 V1.1.0 PC Suite & Bluesoleil Bluetooth Dongles!!

Keywords: blue tooth,bluesoleil,bluesoleil 2.3,bluesoleil bluetooth,bluetooth,bluetooth dongle,cell phone,cell phones,cellphones,cellular,cellular phones,computer,free pc suite,gsm phones,ivt,ivt bluesoleil,mobile,mobile phone,pc bluetooth,pc connection,pc mobile,pc phone,pc phones,pc suite,pc suite 6600,pc suite bluetooth,pc suite software,phones,smartphone,software suite,usb dongle,wireless

Creating SYSTEM Folders in Windows XP (con, prn, aux, etc)

Right-click on My Computer, Click on Manage
2. Expand 'Services & Applications'
3. Highlight 'Services'
4. Look through list of services on the right....
5. Find Universal Plug & Play Device Host
6. Right-click on it.
7. Click properties.
8. Change startup type to 'Disabled'
9. Do exactly the same with 'SSDP discovery service'

Restart & you would get your Icon BACK!

Solution 2:
1. Open Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
2. In the sidebar, click on Add/Remove Windows Components.
3. Scroll down to Networking Services, select it, and click the Details... button.
4. Uncheck UPnP User Interface & other UPnP Service Listed.
5. OK your way out, close Add/Remove Programs, and reboot.
All tray icons should appear normally, without the need to log off and back on.

Solution 3:
1. START, RUN, type "regedit", then enter
2. Once in the Registry Editor, navigate the left directory tree to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
3. Then right click on the right window pane, click new, then string value.
4. Give the new string value the name "systray"
5. Your new value should now have the name "systray", the type "REG_SZ", and no/empty data.
6. Right click on your new "systray" value and click "modify".
7. Now give "systray" the value data: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\systray.exe"
8. Click ok and close the Registry Editor.
9. Restart your computer.

Solution 4:
1. Save the following "systray.zip" file & unzip it to extract "systray.reg"
Download(Save Target As): http://geektalkin.somee.com/systray.zip
2. Double click the file to add the contents to registry!
3. Then restart the PC & it would be solved...
Source: Digiportal Software

Above is also the general solution for any other System Tray Icons Failing/Disappearing from Loading...
Apart from this, no other concrete solution has been yet discovered by me...

Another part you must be worried regarding the services disable & unistallation of UPnP stuff!
