DETROIT – The wait is over. After a seven-year hiatus, the new Chevrolet Camaro is now back in dealer showrooms.

Combining great looks, performance and advanced technology, the 2010 Camaro honors its heritage while delivering on customer expectations of a sports coupe for the 21st century.

“The new Camaro delivers a modern, advanced package of performance, comfort and technology,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager and General Motors vice president. “It’s a personal car for a generation of enthusiasts, both young and old, that honors the Camaro’s heritage with a thoroughly contemporary design.

Built on the new global rear-wheel-drive passenger car platform, Camaro embodies GM’s global vehicle development and design process. The original design concept was conceived in the United States, with engineering shared by both Australia and U.S. teams. Validation was conducted on roads throughout the world and assembly is handled by GM’s award–winning plant in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

Design features

2010 Chevrolet CamaroWith a design that is very close to the original concept, the 2010 Camaro acknowledges its heritage from the first-generation Camaro, produced from 1967 through 1969. The two-door sports coupe features classic proportions over a 112.3-inch (2,852 mm) wheelbase. The overall length of the Camaro is 190.4 inches (4,836 mm); width and height are 75.5 inches (1,918 mm) and 54.2 inches (1,376 mm), respectively.

The long hood and short deck are pushed to the far corners of the muscular fender forms and a fast, 67-degree rake windshield contributes to aerodynamic performance that includes a 0.37 coefficient of drag (Cd) on V-6 models and a slightly sleeker 0.35 Cd on the V-8-powered SS model.

Wheel arch openings received special attention through the design process. Whether the Camaro is equipped with the standard 18-inch, or optional 19-inch or 20-inch wheels, the relationship of the top of the tire and bottom of the fender is consistent on all models. All models also feature the classic “V” design motif in the nose, along with a 2.5-inch (63.5 mm) power dome in the aluminum hood, reminiscent of high-performance Camaro models. On SS models, a simulated air intake is located in the upper front fascia and the lower air intake is larger.

On the top, designers took a cue from Corvette and sculpted twin cockpits across the roof, giving the vehicle a distinctive Chevrolet presence. From the outside, the B-pillar is invisible to the eye, lending the true appearance of a hardtop coupe. The B-pillar is designed to provide increased structural rigidity to the car. And to ensure quality in the manufacturing process, a one-piece body stamping provides a cleaner overall side appearance that is free of seams, gaps or plastic appliqués. “Gills” located in the front of the rear quarter panel also are familiar Camaro styling cues.

Ten exterior colors are available and include Black, Victory Red, Rally Yellow and Silver Ice Metallic. Red Jewel Tintcoat is also available as an option. The color palette also includes Cyber Gray Metallic, Aqua Blue Metallic, Inferno Orange Metallic, White and Imperial Blue Metallic.

An RS appearance package is available on LT and SS. It includes HID headlamps with integrated halo rings, a rear spoiler on LT, specific taillamps and 20-inch wheels with a Midnight Silver finish.

Interior details

2010 Chevrolet Camaro InteriorInside the four-passenger cabin, a well-executed balance of heritage, modern design and attention to detail conveys simplicity and refinement with contemporary details in the cluster, switches, dials and lighting. An available ambient light package, for example, offers advanced LED light pipe technology, giving the cabin a distinctive glow.

Deep, recessed gauges, located in square housings outlined in chrome, give a nod to the classic Camaro interior. The instrument panel gauges include both speedometer and engine rpm, with a driver information center located between the large gauges – its readouts and features controlled via a stalk on the steering column. An optional, console-mounted gauge package includes oil pressure, oil temperature, volts and transmission fluid temperature. The gauge package is included on 2LT and 2SS models.

Cloth upholstery is standard and leather-appointed seats are included on 2LT and 2SS models. Four-way manual adjustment including fore/aft and up/down on the driver seat and two-way adjustment on the passenger seat is standard. Heated, leather-trimmed seats with driver six-way power adjustment are optional.

Both LT and SS standard cloth and available leather interior colors are black, gray and beige. The front seat travel is a generous 8.5 inches (216 mm) from front to back. On SS models, the seats feature a distinctive SS logo on the headrest with contrasting stitching. An Inferno Orange interior trim package also will be available with leather interiors.

All models include a three-spoke steering wheel with manual tilt/telescope adjustment. Cruise control and rear defog also are standard, while a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob; redundant steering wheel controls; Bluetooth and USB port are part of the available Driver Convenience and Connectivity package. Also included in the package is remote start on automatic transmission-equipped vehicles, as well as a personal device interface module for iPods.

Soon after production begins, customers will be able to order a short-throw Hurst shifter that provides quick, concise shifting.

Camaro’s entertainment systems include a single-CD radio with six speakers that is standard on LS, LT and SS models. A premium, 245-watt Boston Acoustics nine-speaker audio system can be ordered on 1LT and SS models. XM Satellite Radio is standard on all models.

All models also include power door locks and express up and down driver and passenger window. Cargo capacity can be increased with the standard fold-down rear seat. The capacity of the trunk is 11.3 cubic feet (320 liters).

Safety

2010 Chevrolet CamaroThe Camaro offers a comprehensive system of safety features – starting with a robust body structure and integral safety cage around the passenger compartment. High-strength steel and ultra high-strength steels are used in key areas throughout the structure. Safety technologies also include:

* Driver and front passenger dual-stage air bags
* Driver and front passenger seat-mounted thorax side-impact air bags
* Head curtain side-impact air bags for front- and rear-seat occupants
* Front-seat safety belt load limiters and pretensioners
* A front passenger detection system that senses children and small-stature adults, and suppresses air bag deployment when appropriate.

In both doors, an interlock pin is utilized to prevent intrusion into the passenger compartment and adds stiffness to the door structure by engaging with a clevis bracket set into the rocker panel.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced Feb. 26 it has selected the all-new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro to pace the 93rd running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 24, 2009.

The Camaro Pace Car was unveiled during a ceremony at the IMS Hall of Fame Museum with IMS President and Chief Operating Officer Joie Chitwood, and Indianapolis 500 winners Johnny Rutherford, Al Unser Jr. and Eddie Cheever Jr.

"The Chevrolet Camaro first paced the Indianapolis 500 in 1967 with one of the most loved Pace Cars of all times, followed by the 1969 Indy 500 Camaro Pace Car with the hugger orange paint scheme," Chitwood said. "Just 40 years after that car made its mark as a Pace Car favorite, we're pleased to have Camaro return to the streets and to the track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to start our Centennial Era."

2009 marks the fifth time the Chevrolet Camaro has been selected to pace the Indianapolis 500 (1967, 1969, 1982, 1993, 2009). It will be the 44th time a General Motors vehicle has paced "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing," with 20 by a Chevrolet.

Powered by the 6.2-liter LS3 all-aluminum Chevy V-8, the all-new 2010 Camaro produces 426 horsepower at 5,900 rpm and 420 lb-ft of torque at 4,600 rpm. It features a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and 3.45 axle ratio.

No drivetrain or suspension modifications are required to prepare the Camaro for its Pace Car duties. The only modifications to the vehicle include a fully integrated strobe system, including a GM-designed custom light bar utilizing Whelen 500 series linear strobes.

WASHINGTON – As Americans celebrate the inauguration of a new president of the United States next week, another new Cadillac will grace Pennsylvania Avenue to lead the proceedings. President Barack Obama will ride in an all-new Cadillac Presidential Limousine, continuing a long tradition of Cadillac limousines that have served many U.S. presidents. “Cadillac is honored to again provide a new Presidential Limousine,” said Mark McNabb, North America vice president, Cadillac/Premium Channel. “This is a great American tradition that we’re delighted to renew with an all-new car featuring the best of Cadillac’s dramatic design and technology.”

The image of an American president greeting crowds from a Cadillac limousine dates to President Woodrow Wilson and the early days of the automobile, and continues into a historic new era. The latest Cadillac Presidential Limousine is a completely new design, succeeding the DTS Presidential Limousine that debuted in 2004. The new car incorporates many of the dramatic design and technology features of new and highly acclaimed Cadillac vehicles in a purpose-built format tailored to specific and exacting specifications befitting presidential transport.

Inside and out, the Cadillac Presidential Limousine includes many of the brand’s signature design elements. Assertive, modern and elegant, the front of the car includes the intricate, dualtextured grille made famous by Cadillac’s most popular current models; the CTS sport sedan and Escalade. Vertical design elements, such as the car’s front and rear lighting, mirror those used on production models.

For largely functional reasons, such as optimal outward visibility, the car is slightly more upright than its predecessor. However, this new Cadillac Presidential Limousine occupies roughly the same overall footprint on the road as the previous model, with a similar size and proportion. The side and rear profiles of the new Presidential Limousine are classic, elegant forms, evocative of Cadillac’s STS and DTS luxury sedans. Inside the cabin, the car includes the finest examples of Cadillac’s recent renaissance in design, technology and craftsmanship. The cabinblends modern design and technology with old-world craftsmanship. Major aspects of the cabin are cut and sewn by hand, the same process used in popular Cadillac models such as the CTS sport sedan.

Naturally, many purpose-built aspects of the car are specially designed and prepared for presidential use. The rear passenger area includes an extensive executive compartment with ample seating space, outward visibility and useful mobile office features. The car was designed, developed and tested by specialists who adhered to an extensive set of specifications. It was subjected to an extreme testing regimen to ensure performance that achieves precise functional requirements. In doing so, security provisions were undertaken at all times during development to ensure the car’s functional capabilities are preserved and confidential.

An embroidered presidential seal is positioned in the center of the rear seat back panel, as well as on each rear door trim panel. Presidential seals are also affixed to the exterior rear doors. The U.S. flag is placed on the right front fender, and the presidential standard is located on the left front fender when the president travels in the vehicle. High-tech LED spotlights illuminate the flags at night.

History – Cadillac and the U.S. Presidency Cadillac has built limousines and special vehicles for U.S. presidents, diplomats, ambassadors and foreign dignitaries since the early 20th century, an iconic aspect of the brand that continues today.

Cadillac’s central role began during World War I, when many Cadillac engines and cars were transferred to military and government service because of their superior durability and power. One of the first chief executives to use a Cadillac was President Wilson, who rode through the streets of Boston during a World War I victory parade in 1919. A lavish 1928 Cadillac town car was used in the Calvin Coolidge administration.

In 1938, two Cadillac convertibles, dubbed the "Queen Mary" and "Queen Elizabeth," were delivered to the U.S. government. Named after the great ocean liners of the time, the vehicles were 21.5 feet long, weighed 7,660 pounds and were equipped with a full ammunition arsenal, two-way radios and heavy-duty generators. Durable and reliable, the two "Queens" served Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower. President Eisenhower, known as a car buff, rode in one of the first Cadillac Eldorado models ever produced during his 1953 inaugural parade. The Eldorado represented a high point in automobile design history, as it had the first wraparound windshield, a feature quickly adopted on other new production models.

In 1956, the Queen Mary II and Queen Elizabeth II convertibles replaced the original series. The vehicles were slightly smaller, but like their predecessors, were fully armored and featured state-of- the art communications. Moreover, the vehicles were fitted with narrow rims inside the tire in case the tires were shot out. The Queen Mary II and Queen Elizabeth II served not only President Eisenhower, but also Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. Both vehicles were retired in 1968.

The Ronald W. Reagan administration was delivered a 1983 Cadillac Fleetwood limousine and a Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham – Presidential Series was delivered to the William J. Clinton administration in 1993. Unlike previous models that typically were Cadillac cars adapted and modified by independent limousine companies, the 1993 Presidential Brougham was designed, developed and manufactured totally within General Motors and Cadillac. This included an extensive set of security measures to maintain confidentiality, a process that continues today. Currently, the 1983 Cadillac Fleetwood limousine resides at the Ronald W. Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, Calif., while the 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham is at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Ark.

Cadillac has produced two presidential limousines this decade that remain in service. The first was a Deville Presidential model delivered to President George W. Bush in 2001. In 2004, President Bush debuted a new DTS Presidential model. It was the first application of a new design that launched later that year for the production DTS full-size sedan.

Auto Stop:

When the vehicle is not moving (example: at a stop light or in traffic) the Hybrid Escalade will conserve fuel by shutting off all engine power. When the vehicle pulls off it will run completely on the electric generator. This Auto Stop feature ensures that no fuel is wasted and no emissions are produced when the vehicle is not moving.

Electric Power:

At slower speeds this Hybrid Escalade can operate entirely with the electric motor.

Hybrid Power:

If the Escalade needs more power it will automatically use a combination of the electric motor and the gasoline motor which creates a very powerful combination; which creates an extremely efficient/economical output.

Engine Power:

If the demand for power increases beyond what the electric motor can handle the the engine will smoothly take over.

Regenerative Braking:

Every time this Hybrid brakes are applied the Regenerative Braking System engages. This system captures the energy usually lost when slowing down and stores it.

Chevrolet Volt Commercial on the Olympics

The Chevrolet Volt is the exciting new vehicle that GM will be releasing in the next couple years. The Volt is GM's new electric driven vehicle and will be one of the first of that kind to be mass produced. In 2007, at North American Internation Auto Show in Detroit MI, the Volt concept was first introduced and had great populartiy. The Volt is expected to be able to run up to 40 miles before it uses a drop of gasoline and that it will have a range up to 640 miles before it will be due for either a battery charge or a stop at the gas station.

The Volt will run on a combination of a front-mounted electric motor, that will generate up to 120 kilowatts of power (160 hp) and up too 236 foot-pounds of torque, and a front-mounted 1.0 liter, turbocharged, three cylinder gasoline engine. In the rear a 12 gallon fuel tank will be housed. GM calculates that the Volt will save the typical American driver about 500 gallons of fuel a year (with $4.00/gal that's $2,000 saved).

The Hybrids are here and here to stay. GM has now become one of the leaders in producing highly fuel efficient vehicles, such as the all new Hybrids! At the very beginning of this year we had the Hybrid Tahoe hit our lot and just recently we received our first Hybrid Malibu and both of them are amazing. We had our first Hybrid Malibu for about two hours before we sold it and the second on we sold it just a few hours several hours after getting it. We have just received our third Malibu Hybrid and it is in the show room and is ready for a test drive.

It is a test to decipher the most cost effective route to operating a vehicle under all the same conditions.Purpose of this test:KFGO and Gateway plan to study the cost effectiveness of the reduction of speed and as well as the efficiency of using E85.Method of Testing:This test will include three 2008 Impalas. These Impalas will be driven from Fargo ND to Bismarck ND; Impala One will use E85 at 75 MPH, Impala Two will use 89 Unleaded at 75 MPH, and Impala Three will be using 89 Unleaded at 55 MPH.

Results:
55mph Car with Regular Unleaded
Little Don Hareland drove 55mph.
His car traveled 378.6 miles.
He used 11.4 gallons of gas.

GM Is Thinking About Our Future

GM is bringing out a newly designed Aveo5 and it is looking great. GM is a large contributor in making vehicles more fuel efficient. The 2009 Aveo will be making its way onto our showroom at the end of this summer and is projected to be a huge hit.

This modern economy car will deliver a staggering 26 mpg in town and 34 mpg for highway. GM decided to use a brand new motor in this car; the 1.6 liter DOHC engine with variable valve timing which will produce more power (107 HP and 106 Torgue).

“Chevrolet is committed to fuel solutions of all types, and the new Aveo5 demonstrates that gasoline remains viable in a highly efficient, affordable package,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “It is terrific value, with a worry-free ownership experience that has the lowest ownership cost of any vehicle on the market, yet is packs all of Chevy’s fun-to-drive spirit.”

This vehicle will have an all new interior design as well. It is said to have high class/high quality surprisingly spacious interior. It will have standard OnStar and XM Satellite Radio. The Aveo5 received a 5 Star safety rating and will come standard with advance dual-stage frontal air bags and the GM passenger Sensing System, as well as standard seat-mounted side air bags for front passengers.

2009 CTS-V Breaks Nurburging Track Record

Lately, General Motors has been talking up their new high-end vehicles, such as the new Corvette ZR1 and now the Cadillac CTS-V -- even though it seems a bit strange to mention the words supercar and Cadillac in the same sentence. But now GM has really outdone themselves with all the new high powered and fuel efficient vehicles coming out in for the 2008-2009 model year. This list includes the all-new Camaro, a remake of the legendary Corvette, the monster ZR1 Corvette, Hybrid Malibus and Tahoes - to mention a few.

Now word comes from Germany that the 2009 CTS-V has officially broken the Nurburgring track record as the fastest sedan in the world -- and it was completely stock -- from the 6.2L Superchared V8 to the factory rims and tires. GM says its most important objective is “to make the CTS-V the world’s fastest production sedan, as a part of the overall goal to make the V-Series Cadillac’s ultimate expression of performance and technology.” This Cadillac houses a 6.2 Liter V8 with about 550 hp.
