The application deals with security threats and provides information to keep your network secure. It is designed for network admins and managers and provides details of potential attacks that could happen on the network they manage.

The application is powered by Security Intelligence Operations that receives information in real-time and then provides the information to those who need to know.

The application is available as a free download on the iTunes store and is more geared towards those who are interested in getting up to date information and the professional end of the market rather than the average consumer.

The Lego Flash Drive car measures 3.5″ x 1.5″ and can be taken apart if you want.

The Flash Drive uses a micro flash drive embedded in to the main body of the car with the top section and wheels attaching to the flash drive. As it uses what appears to be regular lego, there is also room to further customise the drive if needed.

The Lego USB Flash Drive Car is just a one of a kind, and once it’s sold it’s gone. It is available now over at Etsy costing $59.

The Pegatron has a 10 inch screen and runs a fanless ARM processor that as of now is unknown which exact processor it is… perhaps it could be the snapdragon though.

It is expected that the Pegatron Smartbook will launch in a few months time Q1 2010, but also unknown is if it will be branded differently or will still look as the prototype picture above.

The smartbook is expected to have always-on connectivity along with fast boot times (probably left in a standby mode) along with a battery life that mentions “all day use” which could mean anywhere from 8 or more hours.

Just yesterday Google [GOOG] officially unveiled their new operating system called Google Chome OS. Although not available for download just yet, and maybe not for another year, it is actually possible to have play with the OS now by running it on a virtual machine.

A couple of images from the source code have been compiled and are available with one ready on Bit Torrent for download and another over at Gdgt. Just as a precaution, just create a new GMail account if you want to test the OS out just in case (a slim chance) that any of the downloads have been tampered with.

To get the OS working you need to download and install VirtualBox which allows the virtual OS to run.

To get full instructions of how to install and configure VirtualBox to run Chrome OS, check out the post over at techcrunch that has all the technical details. Chrome OS is just over 300 Meg in size and you will need to assign some memory to VirtualBox, so make sure your laptop or computer has enough. Good luck and feel free to post any questions here if you get stuck.

The download is 144.2MB in size and can be downloaded right now.

The SDK comes with no price tag and allows anybody with the skill and interest to create applications for Microsoft Surface computers. If you do not have a surface handy (which probably includes 99.9% of the people who read here) then you can use a PC-based simulator to test your applications out.

Over the last year Microsoft has gone from having just 60 MS Surface partners moving now to more than 250 partners.

As of now, the SDK has already been downloaded over 5000 times. It probably will never reach amazing numbers though considering the few amount of surfaces around the globe compared to desktop PC’s.

Yesterday, Google [GOOG] introduced a new operating system called Google Chrome OS. We have heard a few things about it over the last few months, but now it has been officially displayed. The idea behind Chrome OS is that most users switch on their computer and want to go online to get email, check Facebook, browse websites, search for jobs, go shopping and perhaps play games while chatting to friends and listening to music etc… with other programs not getting as much use, if any at all. Perhaps the web browser is the most important and most used program on a computer in Google’s words.

When a computer boots up if often takes a while from hitting the power button to loading up a web browser. For this reason Google decided to get rid of all the things that slow it down and make the browser the operating system. After hitting the power button you can be online within seconds.

With you only booting in to an operating system the system already gets rid of the need to install and deal with program updates, as there are none stored locally. The Chrome operating system keeps all files online so that you can connect from any device or computer and have all your documents and emails where ever you are. Another name given for this type of setup is stateless. To get a run-down of the principles behind Chrome OS check out the video below.

The actual operating system (video below) looks very good. When logging in to a device you are immediately presented with the browser window you left open along with any tabs for email, documents so that you can continue where you left off. At the top left of the screen a Chrome Menu can be found where any tabs not pinned to the top bar are made available. When opening some of the items in the menu they will either open full screen in a new tab, or open in to what Google refers to as panels which first jump up from the bottom of the screen showing content such as chat conversations, media (like music) and other various things. You also have the option of pinning the floating panels to the sidebar in a more organised way which prevents the panel from obscuring the browsing window, but does at the same time shrink down the browsing window.

Navigation between browser windows is done by gestures with the mouse and also by zooming out to view all browser windows and content which you can then click to zoom in to.

When connecting up a device such as a digital camera via a USB port, a small file browser window pops up as a panel where you can then drag and drop the images you want in to various parts of the browser as needed.

Overall I am impressed with what Chrome OS will offer. The main problem that I have with it though is that it replaces programs that I sometimes use. If good enough I’d certainly buy a netbook with it pre-installed. Hopefully Google will allow installs on to other devices such as desktop PC’s although they were quite adamant about only running it on SSD devices.

We have mentioned the ASUS Eee 1201N a couple of times in the last few months. We now see that it is ready for pre-order.

The Eee 1201N has a 12.1 inch screen running with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. It has an Intel Atom 330 dual core processor along with NVIDIA ION graphics. Priced at just under $500 it comes at a fairly decent price. The netbook is also ASUS’s first ION netbook to be released.

The ASUS 1201N is part of the Seashell line of laptops and looks similar in some ways to various other models from that range such as the best selling Eee 1005HA.

The 1201N has a chiclet style keyboard, measures 1.3 inches in thickness and weighs 3.2 points. For connectivity it has 802.11b/g/n allowing it to transfer data at high speeds if you have a compatible 802.11n router. Also Bluetooth is included in this netbook.

The netbook runs Windows 7 Home Premium and a dual core Atom 330 processor keeps things running. 2GB of RAM can be found in the netbook and for storage it has a 250GB hard drive, and I assume access to Eee online storage.

The netbook will be launched in a few weeks time over in the US. For a review and photos check out Laptop Mag.

When the next generation Flip MinoHD launches early next year it will have a larger screen, more memory and a built in wireless connection that will allow it to directly upload video to various locations such as Youtube without the need of connecting it to a computer.

When the iPhone 3G S was launched, uploads to youtube rose by 400%. As Cisco specialises in networking it’s no surprise that they are introducing wireless capabilities to the minoHD.

As well as getting the wireless networking as a feature, the new Flip will also have a larger screen that will slide open to reveal menu buttons.

The laptop measures just 1 inch thin and weighs 1.5KG. The UL30VT is covered in aluminium that has been given a brushed finish.

The laptop is powered by a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with the option of a cheaper 1.2GHz Intel Celeron processor. Memory wise, it can handle up to 4GB of RAM. Also included is a 500GB hard drive.

The ASUS UL30VT runs Windows 7 and for connectivity it has Bluetooth along with Wi-Fi at 802.11b/g/n specs. A 0.3 megapixel camera is included along with a 4 in 1 memory card reader.

For graphics it has an Intel GMA X4500MHD along with an NVIDIA GeForce G210M card. The reason behind having two graphics cards built in is for battery life. If you are doing basic work such as browsing the internet and sending emails then the lower spec card will be used, saving battery life. Load up a 3D game then the more powerful card will kick in to give you the performance hyou need. In a best case scenario the battery is good for about 12 hours of usage on a single charge.

The Levitron Revolution World Stage is perhaps one of the best gadgets you could buy for someone this Christmas. The system uses magnets to make objects levitate in air.

A common object to levitate is a globe, and the world stages comes supplied with a globe. But with other levitation gadgets, all you get is the globe. This particular model lets you open up the globe to take out the special magnet. The magnetic platform that floats above the main platform can take an additional 3 oz in weight allowing you to place any household object that fits in the weight criteria. The main platform is surrounded in lights and also makes the floating platform rotate allowing you to showcase whatever you want in a bit of style.

Levitron Revolution World Stage

    * Float a globe or a platform (with almost anything you want on top of it) over the LED-lit, reflective base.
* Magnet platform (and thus the globe) rotates as it hovers.
* 8 Blue LED lights illuminate the floating object.
* Maximum capacity of magnetic platform: 3 oz.
* Includes: Base (stage) unit, globe with removable platform, AC adaptor, and instructions.
* Dimensions:
o Base: approx 7.25″ x 7.25″ x 1.25″
o Globe: approx 3.44″ diameter
o Platform: approx 2.25″ diameter x 0.5″ thick

An excellent Christmas gift available from ThinkGeek for $99.99.

The latest that I came across just today is the HypnosEye that although does it’s job of projecting an image, doesn’t look that good. Looks aside though, the HypnosEye is a simple projector that uses a lens and mirror to project images seen on the screen of your iPhone.

No power supply or batteries are needed as it just reflects what’s on the screen on to a wall. For this reason you need to set the brightness of your iPhone or other player at maximum and switch auto-adjustment off.

Quality isn’t great, but in a dark room you will see a larger image on the wall of what’s on the screen on your phone.

HypnosEye Projector and Screen Set features:

    * Portable wireless projector with screen and stand
* Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, mobile phones etc
* Projection distance: 0.5-2m
* Projection area: from 17-45″ (43-114cm)
* Projection focus is adjustable
* Material: Polycarbonate (screen) + ABS (stand)
* Screen size: 250 x 360 x 1mm (9.8 x 14.2 x 0.04″)
* Stand size: 70 x 40 x 25mm (2.8 x 1.6 x 1.0″)
* Weight: 80g (screen), 400g (projector and stand).
* Manual: Japanese

Don’t get too excited though as the gadget is just a concept at the moment.

The Spica Speaker can be looked at as a lava lamp / speaker setup that has water, light and some sort of gel that responds to the music allowing you to also watch the music as well.

As it’s just concept we don’t think we will ever see the speaker launched although in some ways it’s kind of a cool idea.
