This comic was a lot of fun. The third panel is actually a reclaimed t-shirt design from a couple of years ago. It was submitted to shirt.woot.com and didn’t win. It’s nice to give it a purpose.

Every other creature in the world has been turned into some kind of mascot… well, maybe not every one of them. But I know I’ve never seen a roach bouncing around the field throwing t-shirts into the crowd!

I remember waking up once in my Florida home as a child… something was scratching my neck. I was to sleepy for much to register at that point. I thought it was my shirt’s tag. I reached up to scratch the itch and I felt a squirming. I swiped my hand across my neck and sent what was surely a large black roach flying across the room.

I slept… but every itch felt like a bug getting me for the rest of the night.

Bleh!

Just thinking about roaches and us… our relationship… from their perspective.

Eventually The Boy will outgrow his current nickname, Dunder… but you can’t force a nick. I wish my wife understood that better.

Just venting with this one.

Here’s the situation. You know how one bad comment can erase a ton compliments? How much more is that with people?

Every bit of this happened this morning… except for my smart remark.

Jenn and I should be the perfect parents. She was the academic… I was the geek outcast. There is only one type of teen we can’t relate to… The Popular Kid. It’ll be hilarious if that’s how they both turn out.

What can I say… she’s a chip off the old block.

She’s explaining the drawing to me… It’s a dog. Then she draws this scribble around him and get this stern look… “He got Froze!!” After my shocked response… she smiles and lets me off the hook.

I can’t wait to watch this girlie grow up and see what she becomes.

I don’t care what anyone says… there is a huge difference between boys and girls.

I only had kids because I was convinced they’d look like (and act like) their mom. Now we’ve got these little ‘mini-mee’s’ running around mimicking the behaviors and attributes of their less than cultured father. I feel for Jenn. I really do.

I did this one just to see my wife smile. If you don’t get the joke… check this out. And this.

So often I find myself in a position where I have to use the truth to tell a lie. All of the things I tell my wife are always true. She is beautiful. She does look thin. Her hair is great… but somehow I still feel like I’m saying it just to stay out of trouble… which feels the same as lying when I was a kid to stay out of trouble.

I blame her.

It’s hard to exaggerate some of these… because I’ve seen folks with many more of those bracelets than I drew on that guy.

I’ll probably take a small break from the non-geeks after this one. I will be finishing… I just want to do something else for a while.

I think some folks are mis-interpreting this latest series. These are folks that I DO NOT consider to be true Geeks. I have no doubt that folks out there are passionate about some of these things (Candle Geek) but that does not, in this artist’s opinion, necessarily make them a geek.

The Accounting Geek was the one that started it all. Jenn said it could be… I say it can’t. Some will probably argue with me about the Candle Geek… but again, just because you’re really into candles doesn’t make you a candle geek… it just makes you a geek with candles.

Fifty-six is a lot of non-geeks…. but the first 10 are done now.

If you listen to the GLN Podcast (and you better be!) then you know Jenn once tried to say that there could be such a thing as Accounting Geeks… since a Geek has been described as being anyone that is passionate about anything. I feel the definition just doesn’t old water. There has to be more to it. This series will prove my point… hopefully.

I can’t be the only husband that gets a kick out of bugging the freak out of my wife. It’s horrible, I know.

I saw a bald guy in a new bug the other day. Maybe it’s just me… but shouldn’t bald guys be driving Trucks and Humvee’s? Those new bugs are just too round.

Jenna takes the wheel again today and puts out a pretty in depth review of a recent trip to the park with a friend… that has never happend.

Don’t really do this. It’s mean.

Apparently when Jenn has had enough… she makes it known.

My jokes are always funny. Especially when I text them. Funny to me anyway.

No, she doesn’t have hearing problems. I think she just overthinks everything… like her Daddy.

…along with poorly dressed, graying and totally un-cool! Can we work on this people?

I love seeing those kindely old folks on my way in and out of Walmart. Most of them are hardly creepy at all as they put stickers on my children.

But I can’t help but wonder what it would look like if their true purpose (to fight crime) was needed. What instant transformations would we see as hundreds of hours of top-secret-walton training kicked in?

Jenna went to work with me this morning. I told her no… but she kept at it. I think Daddies are allowed to be pushovers once in a while. On the way to work she said, “You know why I wanted to go with you? Because I love you and I would miss you.”

Yeah… I’m proud to be a pushover.

Jenna, my four year old daughter, sat down today and decided she wanted to draw a comic like Daddy. Who was I to deny her? I handed her a strip and a pencil and let her go to work. The first thing she drew as the panels… you might notice them in there dividing the three characters. The script is all her’s as well.

She just assumed that I would put it on my “website” and so here it is. I’m proud… can you tell?

Yesterday was The Boy’s first birthday… and on that day, he started dancing. Before that day he was so indifferent to music. But when he dinged “1″ he suddenly got moves. Well, move.

Happy Birthday Dunder!

This marks the first comic where I wrote out all the text by hand (short of the title text). I hate my own handwriting, but if I never start, I’ll never get any better.

I only have one real flaw (lie)… My car is a pigsty. You know it’s bad when a four year old who HATES to keep her own room clean calls your car dirty… and won’t shut up about it!

Can anyone else out there relate to this comic?

Having a little son has been a challenge so far… but I’m looking forward to at least one benefit!

I’ve changed the size of the comic from 14″ wide to 12″. Mostly because I have a scanner with a 12″ bed. Saves time not having to scan twice and piece it together.

This will most likely be the last Star Wars parody comic for a while. I do hope to revisit this theme since it has been the most fun since the food battle.

Oh The Boy. The Dunder. His ways are wondrous and quick. I might add that The Boy has pink eye at the moment and whatever nasty, germy mess was on his hands is now embedded deep within my esophagus.

Yes, I reused a joke. It’s a classic comic technique… a cheater technique. I actually had written the script for this one before the last one. I’d also like to add that I think it’s so fitting that Jenna and her little brother are playing Luke and Leia.

This one is in black and white because I like sleep… and I ran out of evening. It may start a trend. We’ll see.

I’m siding with the handmadens on this one. Who in their right mind would ever answer that question?

Little James is looking pretty good for spending the last few hours crawling in the sub-zero temperatures of the planet Hoth, ain’t he! I’m glad Han brought that talc!

I don’t care for Jar-Jar any more than the next guy… but I think he got a bad start. He’s just standing in the woods eating breakfast, then he’s suddenly being mowed down by a giant transport and trips over a Jedi.

He gets up and tries to say thanks… and Qui Gon totally blows him off! You will never again hear him say anything so rude to anyone… or anyone else in the movie for that matter. It’s very out of character when you think about it.

Well, one things for sure. If it were me in that movie, I would have given that LBB something to think about.

The second installment of the GLN Star Wars parody. Hope you like it. I’m going to bed.

We’re starting a new short-series here on GLN the Webcomic. I thought it would be fun spending some time putting my daughter’s vision of us as Star Wars characters into practice. Hope you enjoy the trip!

Every few days or so Jenna has to go through the list and assign parts to each of us from the Star Wars movies. More often than not, I’m stuck being Jar Jar.

She won’t let me play Darth Vader… even though the line, “I am your Father” would really be appropriate.

I think I’ve finally found my own style. I realized I was trying to draw like other cartoonists. Mostly from a distrust of my own ability. I hope to produce a more stylistically consistent strip from now on.

This actually happened the other day. My daughter (like many kids her age) doesn’t like having to drink her milk everyday. She doesn’t even want it in her cereal! So when she thought she had finally finished it all… we didn’t have the heart to tell her differently.

I’m experimenting with inking on paper then scanning. Can’t say I’m thrilled with the art on this one. I’m going to give it a few more shots before I give up though.

For years I’ve enjoyed showing off my mad skills on Guitar Hero, then Rock Band at the local Best Buy. If you’re any good you could round up a group of geeks and nerds in an instant.

Those days are gone forever!
