Austin Grill’s Gluten Free Menu

Typically when someone with celiac disease visits a Celiac friendly restaurant they are greeted with a tiny menu that might feature a few items, but there are a few restaurants out there that offer a really impressive gluten-free menu. One of these restaurants is Austin’s Grill, which is able to do so because they believe in fresh food. Based upon their official website, it sounds like many of their ingredients are homemade, including all of their sauces, salsas, and dressings.

On their website, they currently list a gluten-free menu which can be viewed here (is a PDF file). Currently included are 5 appetizers, 7 salad options, 4 grilled items, as well as several sandwiches (order with no bun), sides, desserts, and even several brunch items which are served on Saturday and Sunday.

Currently you can find Austin Grill locations in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. Ironically they don’t seem to have any locations in Texas, but I would imagine this is one of those restaurants which will continue to grow over time.

Arby’s Gluten Free Menu

In case you aren’t familiar with this fast food restaurant, Arby’s is a popular restaurant chain found throughout the United States which features a large menu with a variety of foods, but their specialty has always been in sandwiches.

In glancing over their website, they also happen to offer several gluten-free items, though I haven’t been able to locate an official “gluten-free menu”. Instead, they offer an ingredient list for people with food allergies, and their list includes items which contain gluten. As you’d expect, a quick glance through their list shows that many of the meats are gluten-free, as well as several of their salads without croutons, and surprising a lot of their sauces are also gluten-free.

I haven’t eaten at an Arby’s in a very long time, but it doesn’t appear that it would be to difficult to find something safe to eat there. Anyone have any Arby’s dining experiences that they’d like to share?

Pei Wei’s Gluten Free Menu

If you are a fan of chinese food, you are probably already familiar with PF Chang’s, which is a very large restaurant chain that offers a very impressive gluten-free menu. However, if you get tired of PF Chang’s you may want to check out their other restaurant chain, Pei Wei Asian Diner, which can be found throughout many states within the United States (to see if there is a Pei Wei Asian Diner in your state, check out our gluten free restaurants information).

According to my research, Pei Wei Asian Diner offers five gluten-free choices, many of which have special instructions to give your waiter when you place your order. Below I’ve listed all five choices and the special instructions for your convenience.

Pei Wei Asian Diner’s Gluten-Free Menu

Vietnamese Chicken Salad Rolls – (order without Thai peanut sauce)
Asian Chopped Chicken Salad – (substitute lime vinaigrette dressing and no wonton strips)
Pei Wei Spicy Chicken Salad – (shrimp can be substituted)
Pei Wei Spicy – (choice of chicken or shrimp)
Pei Wei Sweet & Sour – (choice of non-battered chicken or shrimp)

Carrabba’s Gluten Free Menu

If you live in the United States, there is a good chance that you’ve got a Carrabba’s Italian Grill within driving distance of where you live. Although Italian restaurants tend to feature a ton of the typically gluten-filled pastas and pizzas, surprisingly the Carrabba’s Italian Grill restaurant chain does offer one of the more impressive gluten-free menus!

While visiting their official website, I was able to locate an online version of Carrabba’s gluten-free menu (PDF), which provides an impressive list of options for an Italian restaurant. The gluten-free menu includes any special instructions you will need to give your server when you place your order and also features an entire page of gluten-free beverages which are safe for someone on a gluten-free diet to consume.

Cheeseburger in Paradise Gluten Free Menu

Although I don’t have a Cheeseburger in Paradise in my local area, I’ve seen a few great reviews of their comprehensive gluten-free menu, so I decided to do some investigating and feature their gluten-free menu here at Gluten Free Restaurants.

After reviewing their website, I was impressed with the detailed information they provide, complete with exact menu items and special instructions to give your server, as well as a separate gluten-free kids menu. It also appears that everything on their gluten-free menu has been certified by the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG)!

Have a Hardee’s fast food restaurant in your area? Hardee’s restaurants can be found all throughout the United States and it appears they do offer a gluten-free menu! According to our sister site, Celiac Disease, Hardee’s does offer a few gluten-free foods which can be found on this page on their official website! Pegasus Blu: Gluten Free Restaurant in Great Falls, Montana

While doing some research on another project I’m working on, I recently ran across a great article in the Great Falls Tribune (Great Falls, Montana’s local newspaper) featuring a new completely dedicated gluten free restaurant called Pegasus Blu. My research shows the restaurant doesn’t currently have a website I can point to, but it appears to be completely dedicated to gluten free foods, and promises that the foods will taste as good as any food which contains gluten.

Since we started handing out samples at the Farmers Market, we found out there is a celiac support group in town, as well as a co-op of people who exchange gluten-free products, so we are very confident in our menu decision,” Clark said. “The one thing we won’t sacrifice, though, is taste. Our customers will not be able to tell the difference between our dishes and those with gluten.

Applebees Gluten Free Menu

Applebees restaurants are everywhere these days, so it has always been frustrating to see that their corporate office will not commit to anything on their menu being gluten free. With that said, that does not mean that you can’t eat a gluten free meal at an Applebee’s restaurant! Major companies are often hesitant to confirm anything is gluten-free due to cross-contamination concerns, but they still have many gluten-free options available on their menu. You’ll just have to work a little harder and make sure your server is aware of your gluten free needs.

According to my research and experiences dining at Applebee’s, there are a few fairly safe items which are gluten-free on the Applebee’s menu. Here are the items which are more than likely safe if cross-contamination is avoided:

Garlic Herb Chicken
Chicken Caesar Salad (make sure they know not to use croutons)
Fiesta Lime Chicken
Chips with Salsa

Make sure you educate your server on cross-contamination concerns so they can be sure that croutons aren’t added and then removed from the salad, for example. Typically when your server realizes the severity of your diet they can accommodate you without any problems.

Applebees also offers a “to-go” service, so knowing that there are a few okay items at Applebees can be useful when traveling. Just make sure you educate the person over the phone of your dietary needs when you place your order!

Olive Garden Gluten Free Menu

Just about everywhere has an Olive Garden restaurant these days, which is a major restaurant chain known for their authentic Italian pastas, but did you know that Olive Garden offers a gluten free menu? In fact, Olive Garden has a dedicated page on their official website showing their gluten free menu, which can be viewed here. If you decide to check it out, you’ll want to make sure you are viewing the gluten free tab.

For your reference, as of the date of this post, here is Olive Garden’s existing gluten free menu:

Garden Fresh Salad without croutons – Our famous house salad, tossed with our signature Italian dressing
Caesar Salad without croutons - Standard Caesar salad
Pennine Rigate with Marinara – Marinara sauce made with a blend of tomatoes, bell peppers, onions and Italian herbs. Served over gluten free penne pasta
