Taking minimalist furniture into your house seems to be a simple job since the common understanding about the term ‘minimalist’ has gotten so simple to implement. Although often minimalist means less, and minimalist means simple, people (non-interior designers) just can’t bring some Mezzanotte lamp from Ca-Belli or Minosse minimalist sofa into the living room, and instantly says it’s minimalist.

Instead there are things needs to be taking into account when you’re trying to give your interior another kind of minimalist design.

Clutters… Away

The first thing you need to do is to make sure that there are enough spaces in your interior. Yes, spaces. Since like we say before, minimalist means less, anything that would hassle you while wandering around your house should be moved somewhere else. Get rid some of tables, racks, and pile of books to another room/storage. This might be a little difficult if your house is small and you have more than four residents inside. More people means more clutter.

Modular Furnitures are Best Choices

If one furniture can handle two or more things, then these would be best incorporated into the house. There are numbers of table furnitures out there which acts as table and storage compartments. Stools and benches are incorporated into the table, so when not in used, they can be kept cleanly as a part of the minimalist table.

Secret compartments for example, can be build behind a normal wall, by using a simple sliding doors, hide away all crappy things that might clutter your interior. Another example of secret storage is under every step in the stair.

The Thinner The Better

Think about flat screen television rather than conventional box set. You can mount flat screen televisions and hide its wiring to create a clean and simple interior look.

The interior design of the minimalist home should also have fewer divisions to create a wide open space or an illusion of wide open space. Fewer things on the walls can also give a cleaner and less cluttered appearance for the minimalist home.

Creating an interior design for a minimalist home should be suitable for the owner who does not have a lot of small things which he wants to display. People who want a minimalist interior design should think about who they are and what kind of people they are before doing so.

Office interiors should not always be cubicle and dull. Creative designers put their boundaries away and went create an unusual striking interior design, like this one from Stéphane Bigoni and Antoine Mortemard. Recently they were assigned to design the Crédit Maritime branch office, which the project includes a reception area, offices and service spaces. What characterized their office design is the hollow interior facade, sculptural and functional. Clad laminate, the giant piece of furniture blends into the wall and fits in the very heart of architecture.

From the architect:
“The intervention was to glaze the highest offices to bring light to the heart of space and to create a” facade “inner beauty to the presence strong to absorb the complex geometry of the place. Made of wood covered with laminate joinery, this object grows like a bas-relief monochrome. It includes a double reception desk for the disabled, a waiting area, acoustic panels, display surfaces … ”

Derived from the Japanese traditional reception room, designers Albi Serfaty and Eitan Ben Tovim has presented the Tokonama artisanal lamp. Tokonama was used for displaying items for artistic appreciation like calligraphies, ikebana (flower arrangements) adn also bonsai trees.

The stands are digitally carved while lamps are touch controlled and dimmable LEDs. The felt is handmade, using the best merino wool and pure silk, which resembles the texture and sahde of washi, traditional Japanese paper for doors and partitions. Available in four finishes: Haru (spring), Natsu (summer), Aki (autumn) and Fuyu (Winter).

The modular flooring furniture was a brilliant idea for the German designer, Katrin Sonnleitner . After putting her thoughts and efforts for months, finally the modular Puzzle Perser modular flooring comes to life. Puzzle Perser is essentially a do-it-yourself puzzle of a Persian rug that can legitimately be used as a floor covering.

Comprising of 1,225 pieces, the modular rug is made of a recyclable mixture of synthetic and natural rubber. After completing her internships at Designafairs GmbH in Erlangen and Emiliana Design Studio in Barcelona, the Hochschule für Gestaltung graduate and Designlabor Bremerhaven scholar, Katrin has won numerous design competitions. Back then, the modular rug flooring was first created in 2007.
