Just a reminder…Swap Til U Drop is coming up this weekend (Nov. 14-15) at the Old Woolen Mill in downtown Cleveland. Read below for more info.

Don’t miss the fun at the Old Woolen Mill in downtown Cleveland on Saturday and Sunday, November 14 and 15 from 10am – 8pm. SwapTilUDrop.net is hosting a swap & shop event.

Shop for like-new adult and children’s clothes, toys, handmade jewelry, candles, delicious desserts, new clothing items, and more. They’ll even have goody bags, prize drawings, and discount coupons from local restaurants and merchants. A British-style “Frock Swap” will be held at noon on Saturday. To participate, bring great-looking outfits you never wear to trade for clothes and accessories you can’t wait to put on. Trade your kids’ outgrown or barely worn clothes for ones that are just the right size. You can even trade maternity clothes for baby clothes.

Pay $1 for each item you check in at the Swap and receive 1 shopping token per item. You may buy one item in the Swap area for each shopping token you have. If you bring 10 items to trade, you pay $10 and leave with 10 new-to-you items. All Swap items will be inspected to be sure they are in like-new condition. Space is still available if you have items you want to consign or if you would like space to sell your own goods. Complimentary space is also available for schools and churches interested in fundraising. Bradley’s Freshman Academy will be manning the concession stand. The Old Woolen Mill is in downtown Cleveland on Church Street. Coming from Lee University on N. Ocoee towards downtown, turn left at the Monument. Turn right on the first road onto Church Street. You’ll pass the Cleveland Public Library on your right and First Baptist Church on your left. Go straight through several stop signs and red lights and you’ll come to the Old Woolen Mill. It looks like a run-down big brick building, but the inside has been renovated. You’ll see a bridal shop window in the front of the building.

I rarely go to Wal-Mart these days since I can get much better deals at Bi-Lo and Publix by getting what’s BOGO and having my coupons doubled and stacked with competitor store coupons. But, I went to Wal-Mart today because we needed to buy a booster seat. I stumbled upon some great summer clearance prices on children’s clothing. I found boys swim trunks marked down to $1. You can’t beat that! I also saw some racks marked $2 and $3. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always bought off-season clothing at clearance prices and just saved them til time to wear them. Unrelated, Wal-Mart has bananas on sale for $.39/lb!

People for Care and Learning is sponsoring a new playground at the Greenway by First Tennessee Bank on Raider Drive in Cleveland that will be opened to the public this Saturday, Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. The playground features slides, monkey bars, swings and other fun structures. The event will last from 10a.m. to 12 noon, and the dedication ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. Mayor Tom Rowland, local dignitaries, and friends of the project will be on hand to dedicate the site to the community. Shadowing Opportunities with Carrie Workman Photography

Listen up, photographers! Whether you’re a mom who wants to polish her smile-capturing skills, a pro or a wanna-be pro who just want to learn more from a veteran, Carrie Workman Photography has a great opportunity for you!! This increasingly well-known local photographer recently began offering shadowing sessions which offer participants the chance to follow Carrie along on a photo shoot, assist on the shoot and pick Carrie’s brain about what makes a good shot a great one.

Mom beginners are free for the first session and $25 for any additional sessions, mom intermediates with digital SLRs are $45. Semi-pros (those planning to develop website/logo for photography) are $100, and professionals are $250 (those currently having a website or business card). Ask Carrie about bringing your camera and taking pictures during the shoot and even get a chance to go over your pictures with her to find out what shots show the most potential and where you need to work! If you’d like some help in how do process your images (choosing best photos of your kids, how to crop, which pictures make the best black&white, why you should delete some photos, and other tips on managing your own personal photos) then maybe you’d like to sit in with Carrie in her studio office as she goes from downloading the pictures from her camera card, uploading onto computer, sorting through the 100s of photos, choosing the best, all edits, and then printing the finished product.

Juicy Juice for $.39 at Bi-Lo!

I just found Juicy Juice Brain Development on Close Out at Bi-Lo half-price! It was on the regular juice shelf with a purple close out tag. It’s regularly $2.79, but is on clearance for $1.39. I used a coupon for $1/1 Juicy Juice Brain Development from a home mailer (can’t recall which one), which made the Juice $.39, but then I got a surprise. I got a catalina for $2/2 cartons of Juicy Juice Brain Development, so I went back and bought two more at $.39/each with my catalina. It printed another catalina, but this time it was for $2/3. I asked the cashier if she knew why it printed $2/3 instead of $2/2 the second time and she thinks it’s because the first time I bought one and it printed $2/2 and the second time I bought two and it printed $2/3, so she thinks if I had bought three it would have printed $2/4, and so on. Anyway, I was excited to leave the store with 3 cartons of Juicy Juice Brain Development for only $.39/ea!

Operation Christmas Child Less Than 2 Weeks Away

Here is a simple, affordable, meaningful way to give to a needy child this Christmas. Pack a shoebox of goodies for Operation Christmas Child. National Drop-off Week is less than two weeks away – Nov. 16-23. Many area churches are accepting filled shoeboxes, including First Baptist Church Cleveland. Life Care Centers of America in Cleveland is also a drop-off location. Click here to search for a drop off location in your area by zip code. Please remember to include a check for at least $7 per shoe box to cover the international shipping costs, payable to Samaritan’s Purse. Below are instructions on how to pack a shoebox:

How to Pack a Shoe Box
1. SHOE BOX-Use an empty shoe box (standard size, please) or a small plastic container. You can wrap the box (lid separately), but wrapping is not required. Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift. Click here to watch a video on how to pack a shoebox.
2. BOY OR GIRL?-Determine whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the child’s age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Print out the appropriate boy/girl label by downloading the artwork here. Mark the correct age category on the label, and tape the label to the top of your box.
3. FILL WITH GIFTS-Fill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child. Use the gift ideas provided on the bottom of this page.
4. INCLUDE YOUR DONATION-Please donate $7 or more for each shoe box you prepare to help cover shipping and other project costs. You can give online by using our EZGIVE option, or you can write a check to Samaritan’s Purse (note “OCC” on memo line) and place it in an envelope on top of the gift items inside your box.
