While the majority of the listings are places where kids eat free some of the restaurants charge a small amount – in most occasions $.99 so they are not actually “free” but a very good deal nonetheless.

Traveling is full of expenses – airfare, gas, hotel, attractions, spending money, and one of the biggest expenses that is often overlooked – dining. If you keep track of how and where you are spending your money on vacation you will find that a huge chunk of it is going towards food. Don’t worry though; I have some easy ways to save you money on food while traveling.

The simplest way to cut down those food expenses when you are on vacation is to cook or make your food and not dine out. Renting a hotel with a kitchen will often save you money because you can prepare many of your meals there. Take advantage of your hotel’s free continental breakfast and prepare as many other meals as you can in your kitchen. Packing a cooler with soda, water, sandwiches, and fruit will make lunch quick and inexpensive. Have fun with it and throw in a blanket and hold a picnic for you and your family. Munch on healthy snacks such as carrot sticks, nuts, and granola bars to curb your appetite while you are on the go and away from your kitchen.

You are on vacation and you more than likely will want to eat a meal out. Don’t deprive yourself; just limit eating out to a few times during your trip. Research inexpensive dining options on the Internet before you go (many restaurants have their menus and prices online now) so you will have some great places planned. While you are researching be sure to see if there are any coupons for the restaurants in the area where you are traveling. The restaurants website, the areas chamber of commerce and newspaper are great places to look for online dining coupons.

A great way that I save money while traveling is with Entertainment.com books. These books are catered to each major city/area and they have tons of coupons for not only dining but also hotels and attractions. I get one every year and they always more than pay for themselves. I also like to order certificates from Restaurant.com where you are able to search by zip code or state to find discounted coupons for tons of restaurants. I’ve been very happy with the service I’ve received from them and I plan on using them again.

Walgreens is a pharmacy and drugstore with locations all over the country. Every month they offer a rebate program that I’ve been taking advantage of for years. I have gotten free makeup, medicine, food, and more drugstore goods for free. In fact, quite often they pay me to take these items! You can pick up the Walgreens EasySaver Catalog at your local Walgreens or browse and print it online. The month’s rebates are often featured in the weekly ads as well.

It’s important that you buy the products that count towards the rebate. You need to make sure it’s the correct product, the right size, and the right price for the rebate. You also need to be aware of the limit on the rebate. Most of the products that are free after rebate are limit 1 per household. All of this information will be in the EasySaver catalog.

Whenever I can I combine coupons with the rebates. So let’s say that a certain brand and size of shampoo is free after rebate this month. I have a $1 coupon which I use and $1 is taken off my total bill. When I submit my rebate I get back the money I spent on the product NOT counting the coupon. So I got some free shampoo and they paid me $1 for taking it.

It is also smart to combine sales with the rebates. There are often a few deals that are not free after rebate for the month but they become so during a certain week during the month because they go on sale. This forum is a fantastic place to go where others lists the deals combing sales and coupons so you can get the best bang for your buck.

Every month’s rebate has a date that all items need to be purchased by and then another date where your rebate form needs to be postmarked by. You will find that information in each month’s EasySaver Catalog. When you are ready to submit your rebates for the month, you need to fill out the Total Earnings Sheet, usually located in the middle of the Catalog. You have to provide your receipts, circling your purchases and writing down the rebate offer number by the purchase price. You usually do not have to provide UPC’s – if you do the EasySaver Catalog will specify this. You will also need to fill out the Customer Information Form. Here you have the opportunity to get 10% back if you get your earnings back on a Walgreens gift card. This is smart thing to do because you can use this month’s earnings to purchase next month’s rebate items.

Recently, Walgreens has even started allowing customers to enter the receipts online making it super easy and saving you a stamp!

If you need further explanation on the Walgreens EasySaver Rebate Program, there is plenty of explanation on their site. You can also check your rebate status online.

Haircuts can get expensive, especially if you have a big family. There are quite a few alternatives that allow you to still get a great cut and get cheap or even free haircuts.

One way to get free or close to free haircuts is to learn how to cut hair yourself. It can be an intimidating process and I highly recommend the book Haircutting for Dummies. It’s a good book to invest in or better yet check it out from your local library for free. Kid’s hair is often pretty easy to cut and this can save you tons of money.

A way that you can get cheap or free haircuts for yourself and your children is to visit your local beauty school. These are schools where a beauty student (always under the supervision of someone with a license) will cut, style, and even color your hair for cheap or even free. You can visit BeautySchool.com to find a beauty school near you. Give them a call and see what they can offer for you and what their prices are.

If you prefer to go to a salon there are many places out there that offer inexpensive haircuts. Maximize your savings by using a coupon when you visit. Supercuts let’s you sign up for haircut reminders that emails you a coupon every time it’s time for a haircut. Please let me know if you know of any other online haircut coupons! Other salons let you sign up to be on their mailing lists and they will occasionally mail you coupons.

Foundation can often be used in place of concealer, just put a little bit extra in the problem area.

Apply cream or even dry blush to your lips. Apply a lip gloss over the top and you have a new shade of lipstick. You can also do the same thing with eye shadow.

Blush can also be applied to your eyelids as eye shadow.

Your lipstick can also be used as your blush. Just apply very gently to your cheek bones and blend.

Online shopping can be both convenient and time-saving. I have found that I can save tons of money when buying online using a few simple strategies. I always want to find the best deal on the item I want to buy but I don’t want to spend all day using search engines to try to locate the best deal on it. So I follow a few simple steps that will help me save big.

The first thing I do is use a shopping comparison site such as Google Product Search or PriceGrabber. I simply type in the item I want and I’m able to search easily for the lowest price. You may want to play around with your search term a little bit, you may want to make it more specific or more general to get better results. I want to find the top few results that offer me the best price because after a coupon code is applied I may save more with a site that doesn’t have the lowest price before the code is applied.

There are thousands of coupon codes out there for many online stores. These work just like normal coupons you would use at the store. When you are checking out at a website there is often a place to enter a coupon code or promotional code. My favorite site for coupon codes is Savings-Center. I use this site to see if there are any coupon codes for the couple of stores I may purchase from. You can also type in the name of your store following by the term “coupon code” in a search engine and you may get results that way.

Many online stores often offer deals directly on their site so be sure visit the homepages of these sites to see if there are any deals or promotions going on. Often you will see these at the top or in the middle of the page. It also pays to be on the email lists of your favorite stores because they will often send you sales alerts and coupon codes via email.

After you have found the best deal combined with your coupon code or promotion you can check out knowing that you found the best deal to save you the most money.

I have done mystery shopping for quite a few years on everything from retail businesses to restaurants. It’s a great way where you can get free food, free products, and also get paid for making a business better.

Mystery shopping is basically when you pose as a customer and you evaluate a business on whatever criteria that business wants to be evaluated on. While performing the “shop” you will be on the lookout for things such as customer service response time, warmth of food, litter in the parking lot, etc. The mystery shopping company that you are performing the shop through will let you know what you are supposed to be looking for.

If you are interested in becoming a mystery shopper, I have compiled a huge list of mystery shopping companies that you can sign up with to begin the process. Most of them ask you to fill out profiles and even do a practice write-up before they offer you your first shop.

Before you accept a shop, make sure that you are able to complete the shop on the dates or by the deadline specified by the mystery shopping company. If you fail to complete an accepted shop, the mystery shopping company will more than likely not offer you another shop because they don’t believe you are dependable enough.

During your shop, be sure that you remain anonymous. If you need to write something down, wait until you get to your car or visit a restroom to take your notes privately. The whole point of mystery shopping is that you are posing as a customer of the establishment.

After you are finished with your shop you will most likely need to fill out an evaluation form for the mystery shopping company. These are the responses that will be forwarded to the business you evaluated so they know exactly what they need to do to improve their business. If you purchased a product during your shop you will need to be reimbursed by either faxing or scanning your receipts – make sure that you follow the correct procedure so you will get reimbursed.

There are plenty of reputable mystery shopping companies out there but be sure to beware of mystery shopping scams – you want to make money from this, not lose it!

Mystery shopping is a very fun way to earn some free stuff, eat some free meals, and make some great money while helping to improve a business. Unfortunately, there are a lot of mystery shopping scams out there. Follow these tips to avoid those scams:

DO NOT pay a registration fee to a mystery shopping company.

DO NOT pay for “certification”, “training materials”, or “secret lists”.

DO expect that the mystery shopping company will prescreen you in some way – this is a job after all! If they don’t, run fast the other way.

DO NOT provide a debit or credit card, even if they say they won’t charge it.

DO NOT respond to mystery shopping ads in the classifieds or ones you hear on the radio.

DO remember that if something is too good to be true, it probably is – don’t expect to make thousands of dollars from a shop or get to keep high-end items such as TVs.

DO NOT accept a cashier’s check as payment, these are often time fakes.

DO contact the Better Business Bureau to make sure the mystery shopping company is legit.
