No.  I have a website, which is currently being reworked.  I like how my Rose’s Buttons and Rose’s Sundries websites operate and I’m working on moving From Grandma’s Tree to a similar platform and style.  It is currently a ProStore. 

When will it be completed?

I currently have next to no inventory listed in my ProStore as I plan to move everything to a new format.  I thought I’d be done ages ago, but life events have intervened as my time to work on this got squeezed. I hope to be done soon.   I’d like to build my customer base on the new website and integrate this blog into the site.

Why haven’t you listed anything new lately?

I’ve been busy with managing events for my church (a gospel dinner fundraiser last weekend and an estate sale this weekend).  I hope to be back to my regular listing practices in the next week or so.

They are figurines approximately 1-2 inches tall. But made in the same artistic style as the ornaments.

Hallmark Merry Miniatures were first introduced by Hallmark Cards, Inc in 1974. From 1974 through 1995 Merry Miniatures were sold as individual unboxed items. From 1996 through 1999 Merry Miniatures were offered as boxed sets. In 2000, Hallmark returned to the individual items and offered collections of complimentary items each year sold in clear “boxes.” The product line was discontinued in 2002.

Merry Miniatures offered seasonal items that are perfect for creating small vignettes or display scenes. They are indeed miniature as most average only around an inch tall, however, during the early years of production the items were larger. There are a number of pieces that were produced with variations that greatly affect their secondary market values.

Willow Tree Angel of Freedom Ornament

 I’ll be listing a Willow Tree Ornament in a few days and I looked up the artist and the line on the net.  I thought I’d share a bit of what I found.

Willow Tree is a line of sculptures by Kansas artist Susan Lordi.  Pieces are cast from her original carving, and then individually painted by hand. Softly washed colors, carved and metal accents, and representative icons of nature mark Susan’s work.  All of the pieces are made of resin and produced in China. The American manufacturer is DEMDACO.

“The original inspiration for Willow Tree still holds true today: Willow Tree is an intimate, personal line of figurative sculptures representing qualities and sentiments that help us feel close to others, heal wounds, or treasure relationships. Tim and Beth Merck founded the company and are credited with reintroducing figural glass ornaments to the United States. The company was founded in 1979 and is based in Spokane, Washington.  Old World Christmas  cobbled together a national brand from the handcrafted production of tiny artisan companies, some of them literally cottage industries. One of its primary suppliers was Inge-Glas, a family-owned German company that let Old World control the American brand for its Santa faces and stars and dozens of other classic designs. 

The earliest lines used old molds that were rescued from various locations in Germany.  Each ornament was made in the traditional way, hand blown into a mold, coated with silver on the inside and traditionally hand painted on the outside.  As the company expanded it’s lines it commissioned it’s own molds from designs by Beth Merck.  Old World Christmas ornaments were not sold boxed and were identified only by the distinctive star hanger. 

In 2000, Old World Christmas discontinued it’s relationship with the German suppliers and switched it’s production to it’s own factory located in China.  They discontinued the use of the star hanger in 2001. Inge-Glas continues to use that hanger.  Current designs are generally identified by a heart shaped tag with the letters “OWC” inscribed.  Boxes for the ornaments are now provided separately at no cost from some dealers.
