A couple of years ago I had a crazy idea that we should all sit on a train together for several hours from Frankfurt up to Berlin for the SAP TechEd event and it turned out to be one of the coolest things ever! Heck we even had the youngest SCN member in attendance with us!

There were several photos taken and videos made. More importantly though there were connections made! In fact so much so that last year the community themselves did it again!

So this year as we starting getting ready for Berlin once again a bunch of us decided it would not be the same if we didn’t do the Cluetrain once again! Therefore for 2010 we began as a community to coordinate our travel and thus the 2010 SAP TechEd Cluetrain has been born!

So if you want to join us, it’s quite simple – add your name to the list and then go buy your ticket for ICE 598 which is the train that those of us signed up so far have selected. If for some reason you can’t make that one there is an alternative train listed but the bulk of us are going on ICE 598. We are also heading up on Saturday to ensure we are there for the Innovation Weekend!

Those who have taken the ride with us have all walked away with the same thoughts – it was perfect and the best opportunity in the world to get to know my fellow community members before I even get to the event! So take the chance and take the ride with us!

Besides there is no telling what juicy tidbits of information those of on the train might be sharing along the way – maybe a project listing of over 200 innovations? Maybe the newest versions of something? Only one way to find out…

Innovation Weekend (Sneak Preview)

For many weeks now, folks have been eagerly questioning Craig Cmehil, Jason Cao, and myself about what the RIA Hacker Nite, Insight Night and the Process Design Slam will look like this year at SAP TechEd ’10 .

I must admit that my colleagues have delighted me by helping me realize a dream I had last year of inviting developers, business intelligence specialists and process design experts to pool their talents and harmonize their skills. This year, rather than have separate evening events for SDN, BPX and BOC we’ve decided to help pool talents and community in an event that will move (during the course of a 30+ hour event) a business case from idea to prototype and will expose our communities to a plethora of new technologies from inside SAP as well as from partners.

Beginning in Berlin and Las Vegas this year we will host and invite a select group of community members and TechEd attendees to a two (2) day event of innovation, collaboration, designing, hacking, and implementation.

This event will take place on the Sunday and Monday prior to the Tuesday openings of SAP TechEd ’10 in Berlin and Las Vegas and will engage developers and process experts as well as BI business users in social innovation through an open platform.

When: SAP TechEd 2010 Berlin, Oct. 10 -11 | Las Vegas,Oct. 16 -17 Sunday and Monday both locations (30+ hour Marathon)

Today’s unplanned and unscheduled show was dedicated to my friends in India undertaking an amazing experiment, today I noticed they were around 2000 KM into their 40 day journey so I thought it best to do some catch up for everyone.

No this is not about my upcoming trip to Bangalore in a few weeks but rather a very interesting project started by my friend Kartik. HORN OK PLEASE is an experiment with writing a book and all of this being done strictly using Social Media and online tools.

This weekend Kartik begins the “off road” portion of the adventure and I’ll be following along here from Germany using various online tools in order to help them along their way and to also be able to report back to the world where they are, now one of the very interesting things they will be doing along the way is to meet up with young individuals along the way with interests in technology and talk about Social Media, Enterprise, Technology and of course Capgemini and SAP.

So here’s wishing Kartik the best and don’t worry I’ll be tracking and trying several of our BI On Demand tools to see if I can’t keep you alive

It’s the last two weeks of submissions for the SAP TechEd 2010 Demo Jam event! I’ve heard a lot of great stuff and I know there is more out there so take the opportunity and submit! you’ve still got until July 31, 2010 to get in your demo submission!

I always hate cancelling shows however with the weather, my health, travel and holidays I simply don’t see much choice so until mid August I won’t be doing any live shows – now this is not to say that a show won’t pop up but I simply can’t commit to my regularly scheduled time slot for the next couple of weeks.

It’s that time of the year again, SAP TechEd is ramping up and that means the Demo Jam call for submissions is on it’s way! In fact with this post I’m going to share some of the interesting new things this year to help make your submission a bit more attention!

The video is about 12 mins long and I cover several things including a sneak peek at some of the information we’ve gathered in the "innojagd" so far! But also about some new changes to the Demo Jam including the fact that once again this year I am available to discuss your ideas and submissions with before you actually submit and for those who actually present their idea at one of the "innojagd" events and then submit to Demo Jam based on the feedback you receive you’ll get an "added advantage with the selection committee"

Just found this in my inbox and thought I would share, as I started the whole “innojagd” I often got/get asked what type of innovations and my answer is always “every type” of innovation so with this mail I thought I could at least give you a focused challenge to play with as well!

The non-profit Seeker organization, First12, is interested in gaining the help and input of the Solvers in order to build a web-based tool for efficient discovery of open educational resources found on the web. The impact of this work has the potential to be dramatic. The resulting solution could be an important platform component for 21st century learning systems and have applications in both developing and developed countries. The solution could potentially both increase the viability of individualized education, and decrease the cost of delivering relevant learning resources.

This one has a $10,000 prize attached so have a look at the challenge!
