Especially because today is Father's Day, I've been scouring the App Store for any new and interesting greeting card apps. I was pleased to find one I had not noticed before called PepBlast Animated 200+ eCards. Though there are a few great card apps out there, they are small in number as compared to games, utilities, music and other such apps. PepBlast can be commended for being so easy to use and fast performance. There are a large assortment of greetings included, but let's take a look at the overall features of this iPhone, iPad greeting card app:

- Over 40 eCard collections: A few of the 40 categories include Congratulations, Father's Day, Flowers, Friends, Graduation, Good Luck, Hello, Love, Mother's Day

- Personalized message: Plenty of room to write your special message
- Browse and Preview: Make sure your card is perfect before sending
- Send eCard by email or Facebook: By email your recipient you will receive a link from which to retrieve the card

Once you have selected the specific greeting category you need from the rotating dial list, then thumbnails will appear with a brief description of the included cards. Tap one, it loads quickly and previews exactly what you will be sending to family and friends. 3 fields only appear which you must complete: To (the name of your recipient), Note (your own greeting), and From (list your name here). You are given the option to send the card via Facebook or Email.

If you send via Email, your native mail app will open where you will enter the recipient's address and send the card on its way with a link where your friend may retrieve it. This whole process takes no more than 2 minutes to complete. You may purchase unlimited PepBlast e-cards for $1.99 via the in-app PRO purchase, or else use the free app with a card number limitation. In playing with PepBlast, I really enjoyed the mini clips, audio, and excellent quality of both. This is an excellent service and source of quick-send, user-friendly greetings of all kinds.

Going to bed is impossible at night unless I catch up on at least a half hour of my current book. I've spent a great many years plowing through all sorts of books and need a place to record the ones I've read and my thoughts on them in case I want to encourage friends to read (or not read) these same books!

BooksWing- Reader's Journal / Diary is an excellent way to record which books you've read, how much you read in your free time and your perceptions on particular books. It is also a handy method to list the reading material you'd like to enjoy in the future. Throw in the barcode scanner which is part of this app, and you've got an easy way to keep track of your reading habits! Some of the helpful features of this personal book reading list on iPhone are as follows:

Take pics of pages you enjoy, records your comments, list the page you're on and see how many are left to go. Rate the book with the star system, and while you're at it, admire the beautiful wood grain bookshelf! I enjoy the classic look to the font used for making notes as well as the complete summary available when tapping the information button. These are all the thoughtful touches available when you use BooksWing.

I must admit when I found this app today, a flash bulb went off in my head instantly. Using iMessage or text is certainly a great way to communicate quickly and easily. You can keep in touch locally or internationally doing that too, while sending and receiving pics from friends and family far away. Here's a new out-of-the-box idea though. Clipchat is a whole new way of communication via 5 second videos that automatically self-destruct when you are done reading them.

Now, I'm not saying I like being secretive, or that you have anything to hide from your friends. Still, the idea is quite intriguing that a clip of yourself sent to a friend may never be viewed again! (Well, there's an exception to that rule we'll look at in a bit.) Here's a few of the features of this social networking, video iPhone app that everyone can enjoy:

Clipchat will tell you when friends have joined or added you. Ready? Ok, now add friends and start making your 5 second clips! Your friends will get the clip instantaneously. You will see that you have sent friends a clip in the Sent tab, while you can check incoming messages in the Inbox.

Send a pic instead of a video if you prefer, but I'd have to say the video is much more fun! When you receive a video, be sure to hold down the screen to be able to view it, and remember that time is limited to 5 seconds! Tap on the Clipchat Feed button on top right of the screen to see the most recent messages. However, you can only view this feed once you have 3 friends or followers.

COOL CONCLUSION: Clipchat is a totally exciting and unique way of sending private video clips that self-destruct after 5 seconds (to ensure your privacy) to friends and family!

Even if you are an attractive person, there is always bound to be a flaw somewhere - perhaps wrinkles, discolored teeth, uneven skin tone or a couple freckles? Now don't get me wrong, these are not all bad things, just evidence that we are human! However, there are some who only like to see pure perfection in their photos.

Moreover, every social network site requires a profile pic. So now you must dig through your large collection of "selfies" to find the perfect shot for each of those sites. I like the use of the word "fairy" in the title, as I actually feel as though a magic wand has been waved over my somewhat tired and imperfect photos! There are two main functions with which you will work: Retouch and Effects. Launch the app, and if you want to give it a test run first, just tap on the Model Photos button to see before and after demo pictures of a model. You will be in Retouch Mode. Tap See Original to see the imperfect face, then See Result for the finished product (tap to hide controls for full page view). Tap Retouch to bring up the menu of re-finishing items, and then tap to de-select any you don't like, then Apply. Also, tap Effects to get a broad range of finishes for photos. More on this topic in a bit!

Okay, now it's my turn to get beautified in Retouch Mode - and may I say, this app is perfect for male or female, or even groups! I can select the Camera, or Gallery (photo album) icon. The chosen photo then automatically undergoes a transformation of beautification involving all the features mentioned above: skin makeup, eye makeup, red eye removal, teeth whitening and color enhancement. This has been a super long week for me, and honestly I look like something the cat dragged in - basically exhausted. So I need a skin refresher and eye wrinkle removal. My ho-hum pic was transformed in seconds, and I could view the Original photo and then the Result. An important note here: you can adjust manually the items you want to use (by selecting or unchecking the box) after tapping the Retouch button. By the way, I loved the way my skin looked 10 years younger, and my wrinkles disappeared!

Now here's the creative part I like. When you're done fixing your face, it's time to work on Effects that makes your photo look professional and finished. Thumbnails appear with options for 4 types of Effects: Stylized, Background, Lighting and Color. Stylized contains unique effects such as: Old Photo, Vintage Card, Retro Film, Old Style B&W, Soft Lilac, Caramel, and more. Background has gorgeous settings such as Lilac Dreams, Love Dreams, Sunny Field, Pen and Ink, Light Bokeh and other lovely settings. Lighting and Color options give you similar choices in beautifying your photo. Combinations of photos are almost endless, and you will be placed in a dilemma of which combo makes you appear more beautiful, or handsome as the case may be! A couple of my favorite effects are Light Bokeh, Sunny Field and Lilac Dreams, (but I don't want to put my ideas in your own imaginative head!)
