How to change maximum number of posts in Blogger label page

Blogger has set a default maximum 20 blog posts in its label page (category page). This may or may not suit your preference or your purpose in setting up the label page. You may want to decrease it to increase download time. Alternatively, you may want to increase the maximum number of posts to show all posts with the same label (category).

If you want to change this default maximum number of post, you will have to edit the template. First, backup your blog template (Dashboard > Template > Backup (at the top right corner) > Download full template > All files)

Now you got to open the template editor (Dashboard > Template > Edit HTML). Tick [ ] Expand Widget Templates

Now use ctrl+F to help you find the following codes:

expr:href='data:label.url'

Replace the above with the following (I used the number 150 because I want all posts to be displayed in the label page. You may use other numbers in place of 150):

expr:href='data:label.url + "?max-results=150"'

Repeat this for all instances of expr:href='data:label.url' that you can find. I think for the Simple template, there will be 3 instances, so the above will have to be repeated 3 times.

When done, save template and exit.

Blogger cusom permalink (post URL) option

The much requested and eagerly awaited custom permalink (custom post URL) for Blogger (blogspot) has finally arrived. However you need to sign in at the Blogger in Draft (draft.blogger.com) instead of the usual www.blogger.com.

Note: whenever a post is published, Blogger automatically create a permalink of the form
www.myblog.blogspot.com/2012/07/blogger-custom-permalink.com/html
where the blogger-custom-permalink part would have come from the post title (Blogger custom permalink....)

You will have no control on the permalink other than by choosing the words for your post title. There is also a limit to the number of characters in the permalink. Thus, if you have a very long post title, the last few words will be left out of the permalink.

This new feature will be an additional option in the right sidebar of the post editor titled Enclosure Links

You can either leave the default ( . )AUTOMATIC URL ticked in which case it remains status quo and the permalink will be generated automatically for you as before.

I you tick the second option ( . ) Custom URL, you can then type in whatever you wish even if they are not related to the post title, or you can leave out the - or you can create permalink of any number of characters and not be subjected to the limit Blogger imposes on the automatic permalink generation.

• Chitika - was founded in 2003 and is the industry's leading impulse merchandising company. Chitika was founded in May 2003 and is based in Massachusetts. Chitika (pronounced CHIH-tih-ka) helps web publishers generate revenue using innovative publisher-side advertising and merchandising solutions and services.

• Infolinks - A relative newcomer to the scene Infolinks specializes in In-Text Advertizing. That is it indexes your page looking for keywords and phrases that are not currently links and converts them into advertizing links. When a user places their mouse over the link a box opens up showing the ad. If they click on the link you get paid. It is very simple and works very effectively. The nice part is that you can use Infolinks to compliment an existing advertizing campaign on your website. For example you can show banner ads withAdBrite or Bidvertiser and show text links with Infolinks. Or you can even show text links with both AdBrite and Infolinks together on the same page to maximize your revenue.

• Intellilinks - is a similar service to infolinks above but well worth trying. Intellilinks specializes in placing organic text links across an ever-growing network of websites in order to build rank and traffic for advertisers and increased revenue for publishers. Intellilinksfocuses on providing cutting edge technology, while keeping the network seamless and secure to bring results to their clients and revenue to their publishers.

• Pocket Cents - A relative new comer to the field is Pocket Cents. Pocket Cents has been built from the ground up as a Click Banner provider. Specializing in automatic focus on local markets Pocket Cents offers an intriguing alternative to adsense/adwords. While unlikely to replace your entire creative portfolio, Pocket Cents does off an attractive alternative for banner ads. It could also act as a good alternative ad provider for backfill from one of the larger networks.

• Kontera - works in a similar way to Infolinks above, however, they have been around for much longer. Traditionally it was hard to get accepted by Kontera but they seem to have relaxed their restrictions of late. This is especially true for website publishers and affiliate marketers that do not have high daily page impressions.

• Clicksor - is one of the current leaders of the small publisher Adsense competition. They have payouts upto a market leading 85% and unlike a number of alternatives the cost per click bid values are high enough that you can earn a decent income. They are also, in my experience, much more tollerant than Google. Their terms and conditions suggest that you should only place one copy of their code on a page but as long as you only place a single pop-up or DHTML code on a page they seem happy to let you place many context sensitive ad blocks on a single site.

• Exit Junction - is relatively new and, I believe, a spin off from the now defunct Revenue Pilot. While Revenue Pilot has stopped running, however, Exit Junction is going from strength to strength. Exit Junction offers a unique approach to advertising that is compatible with all the other Ad Networks included Google Adsense. The key to Exit junction is that they focus on showing ads to users as they leave your site rather than as they arrive or as they browse. This approach offers you an additional way to monetize your traffic and also capture ad revenue from those that stumble upon your site from a search engine and then immediately leave.

• Dynamic Oxygen - are a relative newcomer to the field having really only started at the end of 2010. However, they are growing quickly and offer an excellent alternative to the traditional Adsense route. Dynamic Oxygen enables publishers of all sizes to realize their full revenue potential! One of the nice things being that they are not focused purely on the high end, very high turnover publishers but instead cater to sites of all shapes, sizes and popularity. How to make dual language blog with one click

Some time ago I wanted to have two languages on my blog - one for my natives, one international. WordPress have a solution called WPML but it's paid solution. Second thing, I have blogger running so long I don't want to transfer.

I've found simple solution!

This method changes main/home/base adress/domain and leads to same URL on other adress/domain. It's also simple installed, just one HTML/JS widget :)

What you should do before:
1. Create two blogs in two different languages.
2. Go to Settings->Search options and make a link to your own site in "page not found code" just in case :) it can look like:
There is nothing in this link, please continue on <a href="http://olesku.pl">Olesku.pl</a>.
Put your adress instead of mine ;)

Now in both of them in Layout, create a widget "HTML/Javascript" and paste this code:

How to edit or remove Blogger attribution

All new Blogger templates have an attribution at the bottom of the page like the one below:

You can edit it by going to the bottom of LAYOUT and click EDIT on the ATTRIBUTION gadget:

where I have added

to display the standard copyright symbol ©. This I have done for this blog as you can see at the footer of this blog.

Alternatively, you may want to completely remove it. In this case you will have to edit the template to unlock the Attribution gadget so that it may be removed.

Sign into Dashboard > Template > Edit HTML and using ctrl+F to find the word 'Attribution' and below that you will find this bit of code:

<b:widget id='Attribution1' locked='true' title='' type='Attribution'/>

Change locked='true' to locked='false' and the attribution will be removable. To remove it, just go to LAYOUT and look for the Attribution gadget at the bottom of the LAYOUT. Click EDIT, the REMOVE and the attribution will be gone.

If you want something else there, you can also replace it with another gadget, eg a Text or HTML gadget and write whatever you want, the most likely replacement will be a HTML gadget with the copyright statement by typing the code Copyright

Blogger has already for a long time enabled bloggers to easily create expandable post summary which they called JUMP BREAK and where the jump break start will be a link with text READ MORE.

However, some bloggers may want to change that READ MORE text to something else, for example, change it to CONTINUE READING as had been done for this test post Testing Blogger jump break where the text had been successfully changed to CONTINUE READING.

This is how it can be done. Sign into Dashboard and in the drop down menu, click TEMPLATE, the EDIT HTML to open the template editor. Tick the [ ] Expand Widget Templates and using ctrl+F, find as shown highlighted in red below:

Just replace <data:post.jumpText/> with whatever you like as for example to "Continue reading" so that the above line will be changed to

Reset Blogger custom domain to blogspot sub-domain

There are bloggers who have converted their blogspot blog to custom domain, but then changed their minds and want to switch back to blogspot. Previously, this was very easy done. One just need to go to Settings > Basic > Publishing and there will be a visible link to reset it back to the blogspot sub-domain.

Blogger, being fond of torturing bloggers now with their new UI (User Interface) have for reasons only known to themselves hidden it.

Now you will still need to go to Dashboard > Settings > Basic and in the section for PUBLISHING and, pay attention, click the obscure X to delete the custom domain and presto, the blog will revert to its previous blogspot sub-domain. Why on earth Blogger do not display the blogspot URL for us see and easily know what to do, why, that is just beyond me.

While it is great that we can use Blogger to create blogs for free or for a paltry USD$10 a year for a custom domain, one of the worst aspect is that a lot of people are abusing it and Blogger is forced to use automated ways of trying to detect spam blogs or those which infringes the Blogger Content Policy for locking or worst, deletion.

On the other side, Blogger also provide a FLAG button in the navbar for members of the public who chances upon what they think are spam blogs to flag them. For blogs without navbar, Blogger has provided this form to report.

Unfortunately, just as there are false negatives (real spam blogs which gets cleared), there are unfortunately also false positive (kosher blogs which gets identified as spam blogs and locked or deleted). Depending, the unfortunate ones may be offered automatic ways to request review or none other than posting to the Blogger Help Forum. If initial request for review fail to result in a positive outcome, and if one is confident that one's blog is not a spam blog nor violates their Content Policy, the last resort is to request for a human final review over at Blogger Help Forum.

However, and that is a very big however and which frightens me, after a human final review and they decide not only that they were right but found your other blogs also spam blogs, not only will you not get that deleted blog back, your other blogs may also gets deleted or worst, you lose your account.

Reason for this post. It happened to me. One of my very old neglected blog got deleted with just a notification of deletion and no links nor info on how to request a review. Knowing that there is still a final chance of asking for a human final review, and if one is wrong, then risk other blogs deletion or worst, deletion of account, this concern made me to finally read and summarize their Content Policy.

And since I have got that summary, rough or whatever plus it will be a good idea too for you to familiarize yourself with it, I am now pasting the summary below hoping you will have an easier time getting to know Blogger Content Policy:

How to revert custom domain back to blogspot

Blogger has given bloggers using their platform for their blogs the option of leaving the blog as a
sub-domain of blogspot.com or become a custom domain using the blogger's domain.

While custom domain has lots of advantages, it however suffers from the disadvantage cost wise of having to bear the annual renewal of the domain.

Now, if you no longer want to bear the cost, just how can you revert the custom domain back to the blogspot sub-domain?

The solution is to sign into www.blogger.com (Dashboard), click the down arrow at the top right corner ,

select SETTINGS:

and in the BASIC > PUBLISHING section

just click the X icon (highlighted in red above) and the custom domain is no more and the blog will revert to the original blogspot sub-domain URL.

Click on LAYOUT and then ADVANCED tab and then on the right would be the 3 options to change colors of
1. Outer background
2. Main background
3. Header background

Choose your selected color by clicking on the colored box or type in your HTML color code (eg #a1b2c3).

Solution for "Another blog is already hosted at this address

Look at the address bar with the blog URL at the top of the browser and you will see ID=12345678 as highlighted in blue in the screen shot below:

How to redirect blogger blog to blogspot.com address

It is not a new thing since few days that your blogspot.com blog may redirect to a country based
domain. Perhaps it is worldwide. Every blogger blog owner may have the same problem of automatic
redirection. So here in this post, we have a tweak that enables your blog to stay on blogspot.com URL.

Well, first of all let's answer the question. Why a .com redirect to a ccTLD (Country Specific Top Level
Domain) URL may hurt you? This is because according to MR. Search Engine Optimizer's law, you can't
host the same content on different domains. If you are using blogger on your own top level domain,
then there is no point of worry. But if your blog has a .blogspot.com address in its tail, then it may hurt
you.

So, let's get into the answer now. Here is the simplest JavaScript code (Pretty short too!) that you can
use to save your blog from being redirected:

Animated gif image: How to change size

This in response to a question in Uploading animated .gif image to Blogger post which asked: "please tell me how to change height and width of that image?"

The answer is very simple if you just know a little of HTML. To display a picture on the web, an image tag <img> is used. Thus:

<img src="image URL" />
(just concentrate on img leaving aside src if you are not familiar with HTML)

To change the size, just add the attributes width="some number" and height="some number" (Note: the picture will be distorted {aspect ration changed) unless you keep the ratio constant. The task will be made easier if you just add the width attribute only leaving out the height and the height will be adjusted accordingly, or just add the height attribute only.

For example, in the HTML to display the animated gif image in Testing uploading animated gif image (image replicated below),

How to delete a Blogger blog

Many bloggers do not know how to delete a Blogger (blogspot) blog. The method depends on whether you are still using the old Blogger UI (User Interface) or the new UI. It is not difficult if you know where to look or where to click. Below are the instructions to delete a blog together with screenshots to make the task easier for you.

To delete a blog is a more straight forward. First sign into www.blogger.com to access the Dashboard, Click on the SETTINGS tab and the default sub-tab will be BASIC. Click DELETE and it is done.

Will old images disappear when changing to custom domain?

The answer is no. Images will remain as long as the Google/Blogger account they are associated with is not deleted. I have checked one of my oldest post - How to change the date and time of your post which has a screen shot and which is dated Monday, May 01, 2006, way before I converted the blog to custom domain.

Upload text and picture direct from computer

There are bloggers who want to be able to prepare their posts including text and photos in their computer and upload it direct to Blogger. Some have tried using copy-paste from Microsoft WORD which obviously will not work.

Here is a solution - Windows Live Writer. To add a photo while in Windows Live Writer, either click the photo icon or use the INSERT drop-down menu as shown in the screen shot below:

If you wish, you can also add an album. Click PHOTO ALBUM. For this, you will have to have a Window Live ID and be logged in. Once logged in, click ADD PHOTO and browse to the photo in your computer you want to add to the album. Then click OPEN and the photo will be added to the album.

I have tested this at Test uploading photo from Windows Live Writer and found that it works well.

Try this: Click the link for using another account, then log in again with the same one. Uncheck the Stay Signed In box. This should take you to finish your comments.

An advertising fail was spotted in Down Under. The ad was found on the wall at a Harvey Norman store in New South Wales. The photo shows clearly a Nokia ad with a pretty 'sheila' holding a phone. But there is no Nokia expert in the world can tell which smartphone model she is holding. But for the Apple community that is passing it is clear: This is an Apple iPhone in a Nokia ad. FAIL!
