FINANCIAL STABILITY vs LOVE

Topic: If a man or woman is not financially stable/secure, should he or she be in a serious relationship?

Now my damn thoughts------I think this is a great question because I feel like it hits home for many women and men today. It definitely hits home with me and my past relationships and what I want in my future relationship. I'm a 27 year old single woman and this is a time where you are focused on your career and love :-). Personally, right now, I don't think a guy has to have "boo-coo" money to be in relationship; however, there should be some stability. He should be able to take care of himself and have a plan on achieving his financial/career goals. GUYS, dont get it twisted!! I think a woman should be doing the same thing!

Everyone is going to have a different perspectives on this subject because of other factors such as a person's view on gender roles and they type of home environment they grew up in. This is where I conflict on my views. I grew up in a household where the man (my dad) took care of everything financially, but I was also taught to be independent and never depend on a man to take care of me. I aim to accomplish my career goals, but it def makes me feel some kind of way when a man isn't doing all he can to be a provider or just create a better life for himself.

I've talked to other women where that doesn't matter to them. Some of them make more than their man----and I think that is okay. I'm def not about comparing salaries....its more about you both giving the best you amd progressing as a couple. On the FLIP SIDE, I've talked to some guy friends and they all pretty much agree that if they were able to take of care of themselves and their woman ( as long as she was "the one"), they would do it with no hesitation.

My Bottomline: My ideal guy would be hard-working and even if it still wasn't enough, financial-wise, I would be okay knowing he does his best to provide. Money/Stability or the lack of it can bring alot of unwanted frustration in any relationship, especially with the economy right now.

I know this subject can lead to other discussions.....gold diggers, lazy men, how long do you stick it out before you give up on your significant other...or do you give up at all??

In the end, I say men and women need to GET MONEY!

Let's get this out the way.

1) I do believe you should always encourage your significant other to suceed. If they need motivation ,you should attempt to be that motivator.

Okay, that being said, I do feel there can be times where you can be TOO SUPPORTIVE of your significant other. Shouldn't us as adult individuals have self-motivation?

A man,....a real man shouldn't need a woman to CONSTANTLY encourage him to DO MORE, WANT MORE.....that should come naturally or so I thought...

I've pondered this question for a long time now and I've realized, in my opinion, that it all depends on what one expects in a partner and what you are willing to settle on or not settle on.

MY MUST-HAVES IN MY FOREVER LOVE:

DRIVE
BE A NATURAL HUSTLER
AMBITION
A NEED FOR CONSTANT GROWTH

How do you know when you are ready to marry?.....This is what one of my pastors told me....

you are ready when.....

you have a silhouette in your mind of the kind of man/woman you will choose to marry and when you have resolve in your mind you will not settle for less
when you do not have to compromise any aspect of your relationship with God in order to be with the person to whom you are attracted
when you are willing to be single rather than make a bad choice of a husband or a wife
when you are becoming the person that your ideal mate is praying about meeting

Ongoing battle in my mind and heart

If someone has hurt you, can you forgive???

I feel as if I can forgive but absolutely CANNOT forget!!

Once you forgive, can you go on and continue a relationship with person?

I definitely think it is possible, but it would be very difficult and I think counseling would be very helpful. I struggle with thoughts of the past always lingering around in my head!!!

In my opinion, I believe anyone who truly loves someone and cares for them, could not repeatedly continue to hurt them and make the same mistakes. Any relationship of such instances, I feel, should be re-evaluated thoroughly.

What I need help with is.......how do you forgive and still not have some sort of resentment toward the person you've forgiven??? HELP!!

One Year Later.....Growth??

Over a year ago, while reading "Purpose Driven Life", I wrote somethings about my personality that I struggle with. They are as that I am easily angered, my inability to ask for help, worrisome (only in certain aspects of my life), and to learn to follow through with all goals and dreams I set for myself.

I've been thinking alot lately about my growth in my personal life. I definitely think I've grown alot as far as controlling my emotions, but at the same time I didn't have another outlet to express them. I feel like instead of actually controlling them, maybe I just kept them hidden adn used work as an excuse ot a distraction from actually dealing with them or expressing them.

NEW GOAL: start back writing and start painting(again) to help express my emotions

I still find it hard to ask for help from others and I know its because I associate depending on someone else for anything to failure.

I wouldn't say that I am less worrisome, but I have realized there are things I have no control over!

As far as my goals and dreams = still a work in progress!!!

I am so happy I decided to go natural.....So far I have been natural for seven months....i only get it pressed every 2.5 months when I get it trimmed....I love it! Its stronger and healthier and I feel like its more fitting for me. I think my natural beauty shines even brighter with my hair in its natural state. So the other night I was looking through all my old magazaines.....and I found an article in Glamour mag. from October 2008 and it was titled 20 Things Every Woman Deserves From The Guy In Her Life.

I just wanted to share the ones that I def agree with......

I think these are things any woman would want...and I am sure there is plenty more....LoL.....(to each its own)...The Facebook comment had me laughing....I never dated anyone who had a profile on any of those social networks...which is weird since pretty much everyone does....I tend to be attracted to guys who are just laid back and not really into social networks on the internet....even though I am...LOL....opposites attract I guess....However, I have heard many stories about people in relationships fighting over things found on websites like this....so-called internet flirting and what not or just not even recognizing each other on their perspective profiles....honestly, it seems all kiddy to me but then again, I never been in that situation.

Back to the mag, they also listed a few things that you man deserves. Such as...

I agree with these also.....however, that listening one....Guys, just listen all the time and you won't have to worry!
