We've decided to release "Boiling Breakfast Early" on iTunes, Emusic, and all major online stores. This is the "demo discography" including the first Mischief Brew demo in its entirety... as well as rare radio, rehearsal, and demo tracks. It's still scratchy four-track recordings, but it's been remixed and remastered, so it's better than its ever sounded!

A two-song 45 that'll play on most jukeboxes. Two songs about urban and rural decay, to simplify it as best I can. With photographs by Christine Boarts-Larson (Slug & Lettuce)...
Whilst we were recording stuff for the split LP with Joe Jack Talcum (also coming soon), and demoing stuff for the next record... we banged out these two bittersweet bluesy/folky/junky ballads. Limited to 1,000 on marble-colored vinyl.

MISCHIEF BREW/JOE JACK TALCUM "Photographs from the Shoebox" split LP/CD

This one is still in its mastering/conceptual stages, but it's moving along fairly quickly. 13 songs total from two Philly bands/artists. Joe Jack Talcum has been involved in a LOT of musical projects in Philadelphia over the years, from The Dead Milkmen to Low Budgets to Butterfly Joe. Meanwhile, flashback to a 16-year old Erik Petersen (Mischief Brew) skateboarding in a driveway whilst "Big Lizard in My Backyard" plays on a beat-up radio in the background. Both artists each do a modern rendition of a Dead Milkmen song. We'll have more info on this record as stuff moves onward... It will be released in the USA by Fistolo Records, and in Europe as a split release between Gunner Records and Klownhouse Records (Mischief Brew's and Low Budgets' Euro-labels, respectively).

MEISCE - "Shipwrecked in a Bottle" CD, and distribution through CAHDownloads.com

2 news items of note today.

Fistolo will release the full-length CD from Meisce (Seattle, WA), "Shipwrecked in a Bottle" (FIST-022). Meisce is a Celtic/Gypsy-influenced punk band featuring members of Inhaste, Wormwood, Slightly Less Than Nothing and more. We had already co-released the "Bored of the Dance" 7" single with Aborted Society Records, and knew this CD would eventually happen. Now it is off to the plant and will be available in time for Meisce's west coast tour down to the San Francisco Irish Festival.

The second newsworthy item is that Crimes Against Humanity Records, a DIY crust/grind/punk label from Eau Claire, WI, has launched a brand new DIY digital download store, CAHdownloads. We will be selling our releases through CAHdownloads, and they will probably be cheaper than any other digital download store out there. This is the first digital download store (as far as we know) catering specifically to extreme music, DIY punk rock and hardcore...so check it out! The albums are not on the site yet but will be in the coming weeks.

So cheers to Nick from Crimes Against Humanity Records for busting his arse to build this site! Other labels like Profane Existence, Rescued from Life, and Give Praise will be exclusively distributed through CAH as well. I imagine the catalog will continue to grow in the coming weeks.

THE ORPHANS will be playing three reunion shows in late January 2008 for no other good reason than the four original members (and old friends) are itchin' to play loud fast punk rock music once again. Many of you know The Orphans as the band that preceded Mischief Brew... active mostly from 1995-1998. We've never officially "broke up," just stopped playing.
The last time we played together was a five day tour in October 2004 to celebrate the release of "Raise the Youth," a 21-track collection of everything good that we had recorded as a band. It was intended as the last batch of Orphans shows... but looking back, we played "Government Stole My Germs CD" a little too slow as our last song at the last show. Call it unfinished business (Subhumans shout-out/pun intended).
Every time we got together to play again it had some sort of bigger purpose. Once because we thought we would write songs again, another because our CD was released. This time, expect nothing other than pure punk energy and mayhem just for the fuck of it. Expect all the old songs. Expect a damn good time!

PS - These shows, particularly the Death By Audio and Planet Mollie ones, are completely DIY events which actually make you, YES YOU, responsible for your own actions. Whoa! Basically, respect the venues and the neighbors, be smart about victuals... so that events can continue at these spaces. Thanks!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6^th, 3-6 PM (2pm boarding), ALL AGES!
Brought to you by the good people at Rocks Off and the evil people at Fistolo Records.

Every punk that’s ever seen Sid and Nancy knows they wanted to be on that boat, singing “God Save the Queen” and spitting at the swimming pigs. Oh come on, admit it. And while you’re at it, you can also admit that punk rock shows on moving boats might well be the best pairing since the hammock and the pina colada.

Which is why we’ve been itchin’ to do a mini-fest on a boat for a while now, and the good news is that it’s finally happening! Mark your calendars: Saturday October 6^th, a 3-6pm cruise (which will be PERFECT autumn sunset time), on the East River in New York City. Because of the limited time we have (a three-hour tour – you had to know that was coming), we had to choose three bands: Mischief Brew, Witch Hunt, and Bread & Roses. So you got your sea-shanty/labor folk orchestra of Bread & Roses, the demonic folk punk of Mischief Brew, and the relentless anarcho-punk powerhouse of Witch Hunt. Aside from the rad line-up, those attending will also experience a rare view of Manhattan: the boat will sail south on the East River, pass underneath the Williamsburg, Manhattan, and Brooklyn bridges, through New York harbor and around the Statue of Liberty. Then, of course, it makes the same trip in reverse. Not to mention there is a bar on board, which does not affect the cruise being all ages. Yeah, this shit is gonna kick ass.

Because of the limited space on the boat, it is strongly recommended that you buy your tickets in advance. Plus, it is a bit cheaper: $20 advance, as opposed to $25 at the dock at boarding. Now I know that is more than you are used to paying for a three-band bill of DIY punk. But keep this in mind: if you took a cruise without the music on a boat in NYC, it would probably run you, oh say, $16? Maybe more? For $20-25 you can take the cruise, see the show, dance to the bands, drink at the bar, hang out with your friends, watch the sunset, and pretty much guarantee yourself a great time all around.

So, here’s to punks and boats!

As if the new/old Witch Hunt CD and the new Bread & Roses CD weren't enough, here's what's next:

FIST-019: Witch Hunt "Blood Red States" CD. This will be a 2007 U.S. re-release of Witch Hunt's second LP. We are co-releasing it with the band themselves. Meanwhile, a vinyl version of "Blood Red States" is being remastered and pressed, released completely by the band. All will be available for their Aug/Sept tour.

FIST-020: The Can Kickers "Live @ LAVAZone" CD. On Jan. 31st 2007, The Can Kickers started a U.S. tour in Philly with this show, at an autonomous zone/radical library located in West Philly. We had been shooting the shite with the band about a live CD for some time, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to do it! Red Planet Recording did a multi-track recording, and we just finished mixing. It is currently being mastered, and the artwork is in the works too.

FIST-021: Mischief Brew "Boiling Breakfast Early" DOWNLOAD PUNK EXCLUSIVE online release. Collection of early Mischief Brew demos/disasters, including the complete first demo, "Mirth," remixed and cleaned up a bit. Don't worry, a physical copy will be available in cassette format from Dead Format/Square of Opposition Records.

FIST-022: It could be one of three things but let's just leave it a mystery for now.

Hey folks!
A little tidbit of news before we depart for Europe: the new Mutiny CD, "Co-op Brewery," and the new Meisce 7" single, "Bored of the Dance," will be coming out at the same time. Unless we say otherwise, the release date is October 31st, Helloween!
Since we'll be gone most of October, we won't post the ordering info until we get back. You'll definitely want to hear these ones. It's a whole batch of drinkin', hellraisin', boot-stompin' songs about everything from co-operatively run microbreweries to slaying Michael Flatley. From Celtic/Gypsy-influenced punk rock to Australian fiddles and squeezeboxes...our aim is to keep ya dancin'!

Fistolo to release Meisce single

Fistolo will team up with Seattle's Aborted Society Records to release the new 7" single from the folk-punk band Meisce. Meisce (pronounced: mesh-key-ah) includes members of the bands Wormwood, Countdown to Armageddon, Inhaste, and Slightly Less Than Nothing...but more importantly, is made up of a bunch of awesome folks that share a love of celtic punk, gypsy stomps, and Eastern European klezmer. This single is awesome, seriously, and we would say that even if we weren't putting it out.

Fistolo price adjustments and new ordering info

Hey folks!
We've decided to adjust our prices a bit - some things raised, some lowered, but overall we feel that things have balanced out and make a bit more sense.
Here are the new prices for Fistolo releases:
CD/LP = $10 post-paid in the U.S./$10 at shows
CDep = $6 post-paid in the U.S./$6 at shows
7" = $4 post-paid in the U.S./$4 at shows
Therefore, whether you buy a record at show, through mailorder or through paypal, it will all be the same price (plus, it's easier to conceal $10 cash than $9...less paper). So many orders for CDs have $10 in the envelope anyway, so this just makes it official.

PAYPAL: When ordering with paypal, you will only have to add a fee if your order is $25 or more. Here's a breakdown:
Orders $1-$24 = no fee
Orders $25-49 = please add $1
Orders $50-99 = please add $2
Orders $100-149 = please add $3
If by chance you are ordering more than $150 worth of stuff, not only are you dedicated and awesome, but should get in touch first to give us a heads up. Paypal orders will still go to fistolo[at]hotmail.com.

Canada/Mexico: please add $1 to each item ordered (applies to both paypal and mailorder).

World orders: after much brain-racking, we decided to keep going with our current system.
