As director of sales and marketing, Rust will build and drive the hotel’s sales team, promote the hotel within the Omaha community and create sales and advertising strategies to position the hotel for optimum success.

She also worked in a number of management capacities at the Holiday Inn Omaha Old Mill, including serving as director of revenue, human resource manager, front desk manager and assistant general manager.

The development of this Residence Inn by Marriott is First Hospitality Group, Inc.’s latest in a series of conversion projects from a different asset class aimed at maximizing the potential of historic properties. ROSEMONT, Ill., April 02, 2013 – Rosemont, Ill.-based First Hospitality Group, Inc. recently gave a sneak peak tour of its latest adaptive reuse project—the conversion of the former Federal Building in Omaha, Neb., into a Residence Inn by Marriott— to a select group of 100 Omaha business leaders and government officials. The renovation project, scheduled for completion this summer, will retain many of the building’s historic and original characteristics and building materials. First Hospitality Group, Inc. President and COO Robert Habeeb made the announcement.

The exclusive event featured hardhat tours of the building, insider commentary from First Hospitality Group Chairman and CEO Stephen Schwartz and an evening reception to celebrate the hotel’s progress. The $23 million transformation of the Omaha Federal Building, which began in April of 2012, will preserve and utilize all of the building’s original marble, terrazzo tile, wooden railings and brass fixtures. The building will feature a 1,000-square-foot penthouse on the 12^th floor with panoramic views of Omaha and nearly 2,000 square feet of meeting space. Old items found in the building, such as the original 1934 FBI Most Wanted poster, will also be preserved and displayed when the hotel opens.

“Transforming this historic treasure into a one-of-a-kind modern hotel while maintaining the traditional architectural features and details continues to be an exciting process,” said Habeeb. “We are pleased to be able to pull back the renovation curtain at this critical phase in the renovation process and engage the community as we prepare for a summer 2013 opening.”

Designed by Thomas Rogers Kimball, a renowned Omaha and Midwest architect, the building was assembled utilizing all American-made materials, including wood, marble and tile. The building is considered the first “modern classic” Art Deco design in federal government buildings and serviced several federal branches after opening its doors in 1934, including the District Court, IRS, FBI, Department of Agriculture, Department of Transportation and the Army Corps of Engineers. The Omaha Federal Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

As general manager, Highberg will oversee all hotel operations, including hiring and training staff, coordinating with vendors and clients, developing advertising strategies and managing the hotel’s budget. The free and open-to-the-pubic arts extravaganza will feature dance performances from Danceworks and The Milwaukee Ballet, as well as musical selections from members of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and local singer-songwriter Wolfgang Schaefer. The ribbon cutting took place at 2 p.m. and was attended by local dignitaries, including Mayor Tom Barrett. The hotel opened to the public on Nov. 13.

“The ribbon cutting was a fitting celebration to thank all of the individuals who have been critical to this hotel’s successful opening, including our outstanding team, Mayor Barrett and other individuals who have worked tirelessly to make this hotel a part of the Milwaukee community,” said Habeeb.

The celebration included tours of the guest rooms, meeting space, atrium, the lightwell room, the bar and lobby, and other public spaces. Complimentary food and drinks were served during the night at food stations located throughout all of the public spaces. Food offerings ranged from chocolate and champagne to local Wisconsin meats and cheeses, meat carving stations and more.

In addition, actors and actresses dressed up as famous individuals depicted in the Life Magazine photos displayed throughout the hotel mingled with guests and entertained during the evening. Each guest was also given a box of chocolates from Guth’s End of the Trail Candy Shoppe, a local merchant, as a takeaway from the event.

 Rosemont, Ill. May 7, 2012  – Rosemont, Ill.-based First Hospitality Group, Inc. (FHG) announced today it has completed the structural framework to transform the landmark Loyalty Building into the new 128-room Hilton Garden Inn Milwaukee Hotel. First Hospitality Group, Inc. President and COO Robert J. Habeeb made the announcement.

This construction milestone will be celebrated with a “topping off” ceremony on Tuesday, May 15 that will bring together local community leaders for a guided tour of the historic building, speeches from key project leaders and a reception at the nearby Grain Exchange Room. Attendees will include local government officials, Historical Society and VISIT Milwaukee members, former Loyalty Building tenants and project staff.

“The Hilton Garden Inn redevelopment is a critical component of the city’s plan to revive the North Broadway Street corridor,” said Alderman Robert Bauman. “This adaptive reuse project will stimulate economic growth in the downtown and maintain the unique character of the famed Loyalty Building.”

The transformation of the Loyalty Building, one of the city’s architectural gems and the original headquarters of Northwestern Mutual Life circa 1886, began in late 2011. A Milwaukee and Wisconsin Landmark, as well as being featured on the National Register of Historic Places, the redevelopment of the property will create a positive impact on the local economy and job creation, and increase downtown foot traffic. The building features a magnificent four-story atrium, original granite and limestone floors and façades, and one of the best-preserved and most celebrated 19^th century commercial interiors in the state.

“This project will allow the Loyalty Building to show its true splendor and its granite will glimmer again,” said Anna-Marie Opgenorth, Executive Director, Historic Milwaukee, Inc. “As a neighbor to this building, we are thrilled about this project. First Hospitality Group, Inc. is invested in and understands the redevelopment of historic buildings and it is also a win-win for both historic preservation in Milwaukee and economic development.”

Construction for the new Hilton Garden Inn is scheduled for completion by this summer. First Hospitality Group, Inc. will own and operate the property. The hotel is expected to create 75 jobs.

“Adaptive reuse projects like this maintain the important historic fabric of a building’s architecture while reenergizing the building with new offerings that ensure these landmarks will be enjoyed and preserved for generations into the 21st century and beyond,” said Habeeb. “In addition, this project is a complement to our growing portfolio of sustainable hotel conversion projects, which is an environmentally sound way to revitalize and add a level of vibrancy to communities.”

In addition to the Hilton Garden Inn, the Loyalty Building will include approximately 4,500 square feet of ground floor retail space, which is anticipated to include innovative food and beverage outlets.  The Hilton Garden Inn will work in concert with the iconic Grain Exchange Room operated by Bartolotta Restaurants located in the neighboring Mackie Building.  The Mackie Building, also on the National Historic Register, is owned by an affiliate of First MKD, LLC, and is currently in process of its own restoration.  Additional improvements are scheduled for the Mackie Building, which will have more than 20,000 square feet of renovated office space available for lease.

The grand re-opening kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in front of the new 24-foot mural in the hotel’s lobby. The celebration was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and featured cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and tours for all attendees. The event also honored the United Service Organization (USO), a nonprofit organization providing morale and recreational services to members of the U.S. Military. Several service men and women were present to receive a $500 donation on behalf of the hotel.

The revitalized Hampton Inn & Suites – Downtown Chicago will feature an updated lobby and modern colors and artwork. The stylish and comfortable guest rooms were each updated with new carpet, lighting, tables, sinks, Cloud Nine beds and a 42-inch flat screen TV. Guest suites will include all new mini refrigerators and microwaves. Guests will have access to an indoor swimming pool, updated state-of-the-art fitness facility, complimentary breakfast, a business center, and a new suite shop, filled with Chicago memorabilia. The hotel also offers guests access to a revamped 5,000-square-foot meeting center.

The 230-room hotel is located at 33 West Illinois St. in downtown Chicago’s River North District. With a central location to some of downtown’s most popular hot spots, the hotel will play host to shoppers, business and leisure travelers.

The grand re-opening kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, July 22, 2010. In attendance was Grandville Mayor Jim Buck, as well as Stephen Schwartz, CEO of First Hospitality Group; Sandy Leblanc, executive vice president for the Grandville Chamber of Commerce; and John Teeples, spokesperson for the Grandville Chamber of Commerce.

After a nearly $3 million renovation, the revitalized Residence Inn Grand Rapids West will feature stylish and contemporary guest suites containing new carpet, wall coverings, dining tables, lighting and stainless steel appliances. This new “retro chic” design will also include new beds, vanities, sofas and tables.
