Area and schools on lockdown. At least seven people are dead and 12 wounded in a shooting at Fort Hood in Texas so far, as this horrible story develops.

Update: wounded count now up to 30

NBC reports from The Pentagon (Jim Miklaszewski) that this may be a terrorist attack. But that is not confirmed

“A senior administration official told NBC News analyst Roger Cressey that the suspect who was in custody was an Army major with an Arabic-sounding name. The official said the shootings could have been a criminal matter rather than a terrorism-related attack and that there was no intelligence to suggest a plot against Fort Hood.”

The suspected gunman was identified as Major Malik Nadal Hasan. He was killed and two other suspects have been apprehended, Lt. Robert W. Cone said. (ABC) A muslim.

Fort Hood killer Malik Nadal Hasan was once quoted as saying “Muslims should rise up and kill the aggressors”. According to twitter user SusanHW who heard it on Hugh Hewitt radio show!

Malik Nadal Hasan is still alive (unfortunately), and is NOT a muslim
convert, but born a muslim!

Hasan was also apparently a big fan of muslims suicide bombings, so much so that he posted about it on the internet. (Washington Examiner and Gateway Pundit)

After lauding a Muslim U.S. Army soldier who killed comrades in Kuwait in 2003, Hasan wrote in an online posting, “If one suicide bomber can kill 100 enemy soldiers … that would be considered a strategic victory.”

Obama turns health care vote into fundraising tool – sends out e-mail one hour before house bill passed

Barely one hour before the passage of HR3962 aka PelosiCARE last night, it seems Obama sent out a fundraising email asking supporters for money to push a national health care bill through the Senate, according to the Washington Examiner it read like this:

“This is a night to celebrate — but not to rest,” Obama writes in a fundraising appeal sent by Organizing for America, the permanent version of his 2008 presidential campaign. “Can you donate $25 or whatever you can afford so we can finish this fight?”

Obama says Organizing for America will need lots of cash for the Senate battle. “The final Senate bill hasn’t even been released yet, but the insurance companies are already pressing hard for a filibuster to bury it,” Obama writes. The “insider lobbyists and partisan operatives” are now “desperate” after their “old formula of scare tactics, D.C. back-scratching and special-interest money” failed to stop the Democratic health care bill.

“Don’t think for a minute that power concedes without a fight,” Obama reminds his fundraising targets. “Please donate to Organizing for America’s campaign to win this fight and ensure that real health care reform reaches my desk by the end of this year.”

Organizing for America, which is under the umbrella of the Democratic National Committee, claims its supporters have made 502,651 phone calls to congressional offices since October 20, all urging the passage of health care reform.

Lieberman announces Senate investigation of ‘Islamist Extremist’ Nidal Malik Hasan

Joe Lieberman, who has drawn the ire of far left loons over his stance of not supporting a public option in the healthcare bill, may now be drawing their ire again in his stance against (what I am calling) jihadist Nidal Malik Hasam. Liberman is an Independent Democrat, who chairs the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and told Fox News that there were ’strong warning signs’ that the alleged gunman, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was an ‘Islamist extremist.’

Sen. Joe Lieberman announced Sunday that he intends to lead a congressional investigation into the mass shooting at Fort Hood, saying the attack could qualify as a “terrorist act” rooted in Islamic radicalism — the worst since 9/11.

The Independent Democrat, who chairs the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, said there were “strong warning signs” that the alleged gunman, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was an “Islamist extremist.”

“If that is true, the murder of these 13 people was a terrorist act and, in fact, it was the most destructive terrorist act to be committed on American soil since 9/11,” Lieberman told “Fox News Sunday.”

The Connecticut senator said authorities “don’t know enough” yet, but said his panel would investigate the gunman’s motives and “ask whether the Army missed warning signs that should have led them to essentially discharge him.”

Lieberman said that if Hasan were showing warning signs, “The U.S. Army has to have zero tolerance. He should have been gone.”

In interviews Sunday, Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey urged the public not to rush to conclusions about Hasan’s motives with an investigation underway. He described reports about early warning signs as “speculation” based on anecdotes.

“I don’t want to say that we missed it,” he said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

The attacks on Fort Hood in Texas last Thursday left 13 people dead and 29 wounded.

The rampage sparked a debate about whether it could be viewed as an act of terrorism.

The alleged gunman, a Palestinian-American and an Army psychiatrist, reportedly shouted “Allahu akbar! — Arabic for “God is great!” when he opened fire. He was seriously wounded by police and is being treated in a military hospital.

The military has said he was scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan, and family members suggested he was trying to avoid serving overseas.

That doesn’t add up to the prelude to a terrorist attack, said Carl Tobias, a professor of law at University of Richmond who analyzes terrorist investigations across the country.

“Terrorist attacks are undertaken by people who typically … have some agenda they want to forward politically, and from what I see in the news, this is just a person acting individually because he doesn’t want to deploy overseas,” he said. “So I just don’t see that angle.”

SEIU thugs beat up State worker Ken Hamidi in Sacramento

Ken Hamidi, a state worker in California (Sacramento) says he was beaten at an SEIU meeting and is now recovering after the bloody brawl that occured at a union hall. Hamidi says members of the local SEIU 1000 beat him up and sent him to the hospital all because he wanted to expose corruption within the union. According to CBS13 in Sacramento, Ken Hamidi is a state worker at the California Franchise Tax Board. Last night he walked into a union hall in Sacramento for an SEIU local 1000 meeting.

“We had every right to be here, very simple; it wasn’t anything private or anything exclusive,” said Hamidi.

But Hamidi says the union members did not want him there.

“Three, four people jumped at me, wrestled with me, then did all that,” said Hamidi. “I was covered in blood and then over to the emergency room.”

Photos of Hamidi in the hospital show him bloodied from the brawl. So why did this happen? Besides being a state worker, Hamidi says he’s an unpaid reporter for a cable access show and a vocal critic of the SEIU. He calls the state workers’ union corrupt.

“This is a union hall that is leased and is being furnished and equipped and everything with our money,” said Hamidi.

Hamidi says he came to the hall to expose how he says SEIU union leaders are spending tens of thousands of dollars on a political race, he claims, they have no right to do. After he and a photographer walked in to the meeting, it didn’t take long for Hamidi to be right out the door and on his way to the hospital.

We called SEIU union leaders to get their side of the story, but they refused to comment.

Homeland chief Janet Napolitano warns against anti-Muslim backlash

Its certainly good to know where this administration’s priorities lie. Not with the victims of a crazy muslim jihadist, but the poor muslims who might suffer “backlash” instead. No warnings at all the muslim terrorists in this country after the Zazi capture, and this jihadist Nadil Malik Hasan. Instead the White House and Janet Napolitano is more concerned with those who might show some anti-Muslim backlash following the shootings at Fort Hood in Texas, the agency’s chief said Sunday. According to the AP, the comments by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano also appeared part of efforts to reassure the Arab world that U.S. authorities were taking measures to quell anti-Islam sentiments after last week’s rampage by an American-born Muslim serving as U.S. Army psychiatrist.

“This was a terrible tragedy for all involved,” Napolitano told reporters in the United Arab Emirates’ capital Abu Dhabi. “Obviously, we object to — and do not believe — that anti-Muslim sentiment should emanate from this.”

Napolitano said her agency is working with state and local groups to try to deflect any anti-Muslim anger after the Thursday attacks by Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim who reportedly expressed growing dismay over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The shootings left 13 people dead and 29 wounded.

“This was an individual who does not, obviously, represent the Muslim faith,” she said after meeting with a group of women university students.

Napolitano also planned talks with Emirates security officials, but gave no further details. Cooperation on security issues have been stepped up in recent years after airlines began direct flights between the UAE and the United States.

Last week, Napolitano was in Europe for meetings with political leaders and security officials.

Obama personally called Anh “Joseph” Cao begging for his vote!

Is this so Obama can claim the one “Republican” to vote for PelosiCARE makes the bill bi-partisan? Anh “Joseph” Cao who replaced “Cold Cash” William Jefferson in Lousiana’s 2nd district during the 2008 election was the only Republican to vote in favor of the Democratic health care bill that passed the House late Saturday. According to CNN, Cao’s vote came after Obama called to personally to ask for his support. Apparently, the Obama call to CAO came at around noon yesterday right before Obama decided to pop off to Camp David. Did Obama know something no one else did? What exactly did Obama offer Cao? Cao claims he explained to Obama that he could not support the health care bill without the anti-abortion amendment aka the Stupak amendment but said he would support the bill if the abortion measure passed. Once the Stupak amendment passed, many believed that was enough to get enough “blue dogs” to vote for the bill. Had Republicans (other than CAO) just pulled an Obama and voted Present, the amendment would have never passed and we might not be at this point today.

Cao, who hails from one of the most Democratic districts in the country, also asked the president for assurances that the administration would do more to help with ongoing disaster relief efforts in his New Orleans district, specifically by forgiving millions in disaster loans to the region.

By supporting the bill, Cao has opened himself up to criticism from other members of his party, but the Republican said his vote was the right decision for his constituents and “the right decision based on my conscience.”

Obama leaning toward half-assed plan of sending 34,000 more troops for Afghanistan

After months and months of dithering while Obama was busy playing golf, hosting dance parties at the White House and popping off the Copenhagen to beg for the Chicago 2016 Olympic, only to fall flat on his face, He may finally be ready to make a decision on sending more troops to Afghanistan. Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s “low risk option” and the one that would offer the best chance to contain the Taliban-led insurgency and stabilize Afghanistan called for 80,000 more troops. Instead, Obama is considering sending just 34,000, and going half-assed. It splits the difference between two other McChrystal options: a “high-risk” one that called for 20,000 additional troops and a “medium-risk” one that would add 40,000 to 45,000 troops, according to Mcclatchy.

The officials, all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss internal administration planning, cautioned that Obama’s decision isn’t final, and won’t be until after administration officials discuss it with the NATO allies at a Nov. 23 meeting of the alliance’s North Atlantic Council and its Military Committee.

Coalition forces now include 67,000 U.S. and 42,000 troops from other countries. The Army’s counterinsurgency manual estimates that an all-out counterinsurgency campaign in a country with Afghanistan’s population would require about 600,000 troops.

Although the administration privately is holding out little hope of persuading Canada or the Netherlands to abandon their plans to withdraw combat troops, much less getting additional allied troops, it wants to avoid creating the impression — at home and abroad — that the U.S. “is going it alone” in Afghanistan, said one military official.

In an interview last week with The New York Times, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner complained that the American administration is leaving its NATO allies in the dark about its new strategy.

“What is the goal? What is the road? And in the name of what?” Kouchner asked, according to the Times. “Where are the Americans? It begins to be a problem . . . . We need to talk to each other as allies.”

The officials said that Obama also wants to complete his Nov. 11-19 Asia trip and a state visit by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of India, the arch foe of Pakistan, a key U.S. ally in the war on terror, before he announces his Afghanistan plan.

Needing 218 votes to pass PelosiCARE, the vote was 220 Yea and 215 Nay. Joseph Gao, from Louisiana’s 2nd district an overwhelmingly Democrat district, who hasn’t had a Republican rep since 1890 was the lone “Republican” to vote Yea for the Bill. Guess who Gao replaced in 2008? None other than Cold Cash William Jefferson! What does this all mean? Not a whole lot as most people expected this to pass the House with the overwhelming majority. Much like Cap and Trade, people don’t expect this to survive in the Senate.

Nidal Malik Hasan taken off ventilator

According to the AP, A U.S. Army spokesman says the Nidal Malkik Hasan has been taken off a ventilator but still remains in intensive care at a military hospital. Spokesman Col. John Rossi told reporters on Saturday at Fort Hood that he is not sure if Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is able to communicate.

Hasan was shot during an exchange of gunfire during Thursday’s attack. The military moved him on Friday to Brooke Medical Center in San Antonio, about 150 miles southwest of Fort Hood. Army officials have said Hasan is “not able to converse.” Thirteen people were killed and 29 others wounded in Thursday’s attack at Fort Hood.

Nidal Malik Hasan worshipped at a mosque linked to 9/11

Major Nidal Malik Hasan worshipped at a mosque led by a radical imam said to be a “spiritual adviser” to three of the hijackers who attacked America on Sept 11, 2001 according to the UK Telegraph. Hasan, attended the controversial Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Great Falls, Virginia, in 2001 at the same time as two of the September 11 terrorists. Hasan’s mother’s funeral was also held there in May that year. The preacher at the time was Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born Yemeni scholar who was banned from addressing a meeting in London by video link in August because he is accused of supporting attacks on British troops and backing terrorist organisations. More from the Telegraph:

Hasan’s eyes “lit up” when he mentioned his deep respect for al-Awlaki’s teachings, according to a fellow Muslim officer at the Fort Hood base in Texas, the scene of Thursday’s horrific shooting spree.

As investigators look at Hasan’s motives and mindset, his attendance at the mosque could be an important piece of the jigsaw. Al-Awlaki moved to Dar al-Hijrah as imam in January, 2001, from the west coast, and three months later the September 11 hijackers Nawaf al-Hamzi and Hani Hanjour began attending his services. A third hijacker attended his services in California.

Hasan was praying at Dar al-Hijrah at about the same time, and the FBI will now want to investigate whether he met the two terrorists.

Charles Allen, a former under-secretary for intelligence at the Department of Homeland Security, has described al-Awlaki, who now lives in Yemen, as an “al-Qaeda supporter, and former spiritual leader to three of the September 11 hijackers… who targets US Muslims with radical online lectures encouraging terrorist attacks from his new home in Yemen”.

Last night Hasan remained in a coma under guard at a military hospital in San Antonio, Texas, and was said to be in a “stable” condition. Born in America to a Palestinian family, Hasan, 39, was an army psychiatrist who had chosen to sign up for the US military against his parents’ wishes.

But he turned into an angry critic of the wars America was waging in Iraq and Afghanistan and had tried in vain to negotiate his discharge.

He counselled soldiers returning from the front line and told relatives that he was horrified at the prospect of a deployment to Afghanistan later this year – his first time in a combat zone.

Heritage foundation cost of PelosiCARE: $2.6 Trillion! Judd Gregg $3 Trillion!

As Heritage analysts noted earlier in the week, the Congressional Budget Office released its preliminary score of the bill (H.R. 3962) that was about $1.8 Trillion, ReidCARE clocking in at $1.7 trillion. Of course, no one in the media mentioned it. I didn’t even hear a word about the new CBO costs mentioned on Fox News. Only place you could find it was on the internet. But today the Heritage Foundary has posted the real story about the true cost and it is even more dramatic than originally thought. The bill is front loaded with taxes, and back-loaded with spending in the first ten years. Since most of the spending in the House bill does not fully go into effect until 2014, the 10-year cost estimates based on the preliminary CBO score (for years 2010 through 2019) only account for six years of new spending under the plan. Once it is implemented (over a full 10-year window from years 2014 to 2023), the giant House health bill carries a price tag of $2.4 trillion, or as much as $2.6 trillion with the “doc fix.”! According to RedState, Senator Judd Gregg: estimate of House Bill will cost $3 TRILLION!

Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH), ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee today commented on the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) more detailed cost estimate of the manager’s amendment to the House health reform bill.

Senator Gregg stated, “The CBO estimate released last night finally sheds light on the smoke and mirrors game the majority has been playing with the cost of their health care reform proposal. Over the first 10 years, this legislation builds in gross new spending of $1.7 trillion – and most of the new spending doesn’t even start until 2014. Once that spending is fully phased in, the House Democratic bill rings up at more than $3 trillion over ten years.

“Additionally, this bill cuts critical Medicare and Medicaid funding by $628 billion, accounts for nearly $1.2 trillion in tax and fee increases and will explode the scope of government by putting the nation’s health care system in the hands of Washington bureaucrats. The $3 trillion price tag defies common sense – we simply cannot add all this new spending to the government rolls and claim to control the deficit.

“If we continue to pile more and more debt on the next generation, they will never be able to get out from under it. The health care system needs reform, but this massive expansion of government, financed by our children and grandchildren, is the wrong way to proceed.”

Like many Americans, I’m very concerned about the efforts underway to rush through the 2,000 page Pelosi health care bill this weekend. Why the rush? That’s a lot of pages to read. Why not give everyone the chance to read it and debate it?

How much will this bill cost us? It’s unclear because the figures coming out of Washington keep changing – and always in the direction of costing more, not less. The latest numbers show it will cost more than a trillion dollars over the decade, but when has a government program ever come in on or under budget?

How will we pay for it? Taxes, of course – and not just on the “rich” (you know, the people who spur the economy by buying goods and running companies that employ people), but also on just about everyone, especially small businesses – the job-creating engine of our economy. One of the points of health care reform was to help small businesses with the cost, but this bill hurts them – and right at a time when so many Americans are out of work and need the jobs that small businesses produce.

What’s in this bill? The “death panel” provision is in it. Medicare cuts are in it. Coverage of illegal immigrants is in it. And federal funding for abortion is in it. I commend the many Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats who are taking a principled stance to fight this.

I had a message for Speaker Pelosi in a speech I gave last night for the Wisconsin Right to Life – “please, please don’t break the ‘transparency promise’ by prohibiting at least a vote of your colleagues on funding abortion-on-demand.”

Speaker Pelosi has already broken many promises thus far in this “reform” exercise. She promised that this would be a bi-partisan effort, but the bill she’s pushing isn’t bi-partisan. She promised that the final version of the bill would be posted online 72 hours before it comes to a vote so that the American people could clearly see what’s in it and how we will pay for it. But she broke that promise too when she decided to rush the bill to a vote this weekend.

The speaker must be held accountable for her broken promises. Now is the time for Americans who believe in the free market and who believe that we need policies that promote job growth instead of job loss to say once and for all, “Enough!” Stand up and make your voices heard before it’s too late. Call and email your representatives and tell them to vote “no” on Pelosi’s train wreck of a health care bill, or else we will vote “no” to sending them back to Washington when we go to the polls in less than 12 months.

Of all the talk from left wing loony toons who claim the Rasmussen polls are so “ring wing” biased, despite them be the most accurate predictor of last year’s Presidential election, and this years 2 governor races, it looks like CNN is either become “right wing extremist” or even they can’t fudge the numbers anymore with weighted democratic polls on ObamaCARE. Instead, CNN is forced to use misleading story lines such as “Public wants Congress to keep working on health care.” No idiots, people DONT WANT this kinda of “change” to healthcare period (well, aside from far left loons).
