I have a feeling that your son who ever he may be would have played for the club during this period, but then again I might be wrong....but let me tell you this. During the existance of Santos FC all the boys who played for the club were treated with respect and given the best training that the Manager and coaches were able to deliver, the boys were also given the best and most expensive kits and training gear for both summer and winter training, they were treated to a great weekend away during this time as well. Each boy who was with the club at the end of each season received trophys at the end of season presentation night The majority of boys who played for Santos were with the club from its inception...this goes to show that they were happy being with the club and its Manager...if they were not happy then they would have left...do you not agree?. I see that you have stated that you cannot bear to read this blog anymore...I suggest to you that you have not read this blog at all since I made my final post on here back in February..has it taken you 4 months to think of what to write?. You should also note that there were many contributing factors that lead to the demise of Santos FC...the Manager being unable to continue running the club due to work and personal commitments being only a very small part of this....anyone with one ounce of sense would have a good idea of the many more problems which resulted in the club folding...most of which had absoloutely nothing to do with the players. Just to finish I would like you to know all of the boys who played for Santos and wish to continue playing have found new clubs after having trials with them. Its a pity that you have decided to post your comment anonymously, but then again looking at its content I am not suprised...if you would like to get in touch with either myself or the former Manager of Santos FC then feel free to send an email...I suspect that you have our email addresses already

<guid Santos FC has decided that the club will now cease to exist and will be leaving the Echo League at the end of this season.

For me personally it is a decision I have found very hard to take from the moment I found out about it, and I would say that it has not gone unnoticed by everyone at Santos FC,but hey!, life goes on and I wont loose sleep over it.

I wish the boys in the team the very best for the future.

May I also thank the many people who have followed this blog.

Steve defeat on the trot including the last two league games and have continued the worst run of form ever suffered by the club and which has seen them concede 26 goals in four league and cup outings.
There has to be sympathy for Manager Steve Shefford as yet again he was unable to pick his strongest side due to long term injuries and player absences.
Although starting brightly Santos were soon again on the back foot and their overworked defence was yet again under increasing pressure as Dagenham took hold of central midfield passing their way through with ease and pressure duly told with a three goal salvo which saw the home team go in at the break three gosls to the good.

Manager Steve Shefford made changes at half time and although the second half was a lot better in terms of effort there was still no end product with the home keeper not having one shot to save all afternoon, fifteen minutes from the end a breakaway down the Santos left flank saw a cross field pass easily tapped into the Santos net with no defenders in site, more evidence of the continuing sloppy play by Santos this season.

Again this season the man of the match award went to another defender, this time the recipient was Jamie Wilkinson for his battling performance, the whole defence including the ever more impressive goal keeper worked hard with little or no support from midfield.A mention also for Louis Burton whos tireless contribution did not go unnoticed as he was forced to drop deaper to find the ball as the match progressed. All in all another below par performance from an out of form Santos FC side who will find their first ever season in this division a tough one if they do not show a marked improvement soon.

noreply@blogger.com league mean that Santos have now conceded over twenty goals in four league and cup games.Although we have a couple of players out injured or away this is our worst ever start in over three seasons.
This was a game when the boys were simply overun by a Flyers side that were right up for this match. They were better in all departments and although phisically they were a big side we offer no excuses for this second defeat in a row which has seen a normally water tight defence concede eighteen goals in its last two games, this is simply not good enough and shows that having stepped up a division the teams will be that much fitter and better and that we have to compete in every match, something that has been lacking this season.

I will not dwell on the game except to name two players who stood out, firstly midfielder James Kelly who put in a man of the match performance and whos workrate could not be faulted,he has vision beyond his years,a great contribution to the cause and a deserved man of the match.
Secondly once again another mention for our keeper Matthew McCarthy who again almost single handedly kept the score down to seven with a series of fine stops,a brave performance from Matt.
Thats it for this match report,we are away to Dagenham United this coming weekend, more news on this match to SANTOS FC 0

Santos have crashed out of the Essex County Cup last Sunday losing 11 nil to a very impressive Eastern Junior Alliance side Stanway Rovers. This was the heaviest defeat in the clubs history since it was formed four years ago.Although missing three players in key positions last Sunday Santos fc can offer no excuses for this inept performance. They were second best in every position from front to back and this was proven with them conceding 3 goals in the first 10 minutes.
Stanway Rovers were an excellent side who were organised in every position, they attacked as a unit and defended as a unit, something that was completely missing in the Santos team, the only shining light was a one man midfield battling performance from Aaron Hepworth which indeed won him the Santos man of the match award, the only other player worth a mention was goalkeeper Matthew McCarthy who again for the second week running was in superb form with a series of fine saves, well done Matthew!.
This coming Sunday sees Santos return to league action, more news on that to consecutive victory with a tough away fixture against an impressive Royal Falcons side at their home ground at John Bramton School in East London.
Santos started strongly and were in front on ten minutes with a great strike from forward Joshua Henry, however Falcons then came strongly into the game with repeated attacks down both flanks putting the Santos defence under increasing pressure, they were duly awarded on the stroke of half time when a looping shot caught out the impressive Santos Goalkeeper to drop over him into the net so the score ended 1-1 at half time.
Into the second half and the Santos defence were increasingly being tested with the back four making repeated last ditch tackles as Falcons launched repeated raids down both flanks,Goal keeper Matthew McCarthy deservedly earned his man of the match award with a series of great saves and brave stops to keep the scores level.
Falcons then proceeded to hit the woodwork three times in the last twenty minutes with no luck, with ten minutes to go a great through ball again reached in form striker Joshua Henry who turned his marker just inside the box and unleashed a great strike to the right of the Falcons keeper which put the boys back in front. All credit to Falcons who continued to press but Santos held on to make it six points from their opening two games.
We wish Royal Falcons every success for the rest of the season

noreply@blogger.com ever season in the A division with a hard fought win against Colebrook Royals Blues at Chigwell Police club grounds.Sloppy defending saw Santos go behind 1 nill after only a few minutes only to grab a quick equaliser through Joshua Henry. However that recovery was soon wiped out as again defensive errors saw Santos go in at the break 3-1 down and with a mountain to climb.
During the break a stern team talk from Manager Steve Shefford resulted in the boys getting a goal back almost immediately after the re start, a great through ball from midfield to Lewis Burton saw him race through to the edge of the box ,and from what seemed from an impossible angle he whipped in a fierce drive across the Colebrook keeper which flew in to the bottom right hand corner of the net.
This then saw Santos playing the type of football which saw them to successful promotion last season and it was not long before they eqhalised with a great 25 yardrer from midfielder James Kelly which flew past the keeper into the net to make it 3-3 with about 15 minutes left on the clock.
Then with about 5 minutes left and with the Colebrook keeper pulling off a series of fine saves the winner duly arrived with James Kelly getting on the end of another defence splitting past to unleash another low drive which the keeper got his hands to but could only watch as the ball rolled into the back of the net.The last 5 minutes were a bit scary with Colebrook going all out for the equaliser but with the whistle going for the end of the game it was Santos who grabbed all three points. It was a great game with Colebrook playing some great stuff and we wish them well for the rest of the season.
Our thanks once again to the fantastic support from parents and friends who as usual come along in large numbers to cheer on the lads,it is much appreciated by all here at Santos and running again after neglecting it more or less completely over the last few months, this is mostly due to not having time to get on here to write about our club, although I have made many attempts!!!.

It has been a very eventful year for Santos with many ups and downs but which has ended with us being promoted to the A division of the Echo League having just pipped Cobra FC on goal difference by beating league champions Euro Dagenham 3 - 2 in our very last game of the season.

Our end of season tour to Clacton on Sea during the end of May Bank Holiday to take part in the Mitre Cup went well with the club finishing 3rd in the under 13s section, the parents as well as all the boys in the squad having a great weekend as well!,more about the tour in the coming days.

Our end of season presentaion night back in May went fantastically well with over £700 being raised for the club on the night...more news to come on this and of course news on who won all the trophys!!.

The Echo League AGM is to take place next Thursday 16th June ,Manager Steve Shefford and Chairman Peter Wade will be representing the club and of course all the news on this as and when we get it.

Santos FC will be playing in a brand new kit next season, more on this(and photos) as soon as we get it.

Thats about it apart from a reminder of a meeting for all parents and players next week at the Manfred Way club next week.

<guid business!!.First of all a big apology to all our readers who have not seen one single posting on this site since before last Christmas.
Most of it has been completely down to me as I have been very busy and simply have not had any time to get on here and write about our team.
The last couple of months have been very tough for this football club and currently we are going through a bit of a transition and it has been hard for us both on and off the field of play.

Obviously this has had an effect on the form of the team and this has seen us go through our worst run of results since the club was formed. We suffered 3 straight defeats during January and early February against opposition we would expect to beat 9 times out of ten.Hopefully this is now all behind us as we have now drawn and won our last 2 games! We have seen 2 players leave this season,Demi Nicola earlier this season and within the last couple of weeks Rory Haslam, who has left to join another club, couple this with the long injury list at the moment,we have 2 players out for the season,Elliott Wilkinson(top goal scorer for the last 2 seasons),who has been advised to take a complete break from football by a specialist due to a knee problem and Gregory Wade who has broken his arm, both players will definately not be back until next season but hopefully will be fit enough to compete in our end of season tour in May.Also on the injury front the Mweni brothers Kelvin and Kennedy are both out at the moment,Kennedy with a back injury and Kelvin who has been out for a month with a bad calf,Kelvin is now showing some signs of improvement and should be fit again to return to action again shortly.
We have had various players missing on and off due to illness as well since the turn of the New Year.
We started the New Year as the only team in B Division still undefeated but the 3 straight losses have now put a serious dent in our chances of catching run away leaders Euro Dagenham, but we have to play them twice yet and with games in hand we will be making every effort to catch them up!!.

Obviously the injuries have had a big effect on results as no team can expect to be playing up to the standards required with so many players injured and leaving Santos FC have found the going tough in recent weeks, but we offer no excuses on that score, the players we have in this squad have to stand up and be counted in situations such as this,we are hopefull of bringing in 1 or 2 players in to bring the squad back up to 15 players, indeed we are trialing players at the moment, so stand by for some important news on that front very soon.
Thurrock 5 Santos 0

Santos have crashed out of the Essex Cup on the end of a 5-0 hammering at the hands of Premier League side Thurrock FC.A fairly even first half saw the lads go in 1-0 down at the break despite James Kelly hitting the post with a great free kick from just outside the box with the game at 0-0.
After the restart Thurrock imposed themselves on the game with repeated attacks, mainly down the right side of the pitch and scored a further three goals to run out easy winners at 5-0.
Although a heavy defeat at the hands of a very good and well drilled Premier side we come out of this match with heads held high and everyone in no doubt of the improvements we have to make to progress as a very young football club.We have made great strides and have done well to reach the 3rd round having played against Premier League opposition in all three matches!
The boys return to league action next week away to Belhus FC,please Barkingside which ended in a 0-0 draw, all credit to both sides as defences dominated for most of the game, although the boys had two excellent chances both were unable to be converted.
Cobra are a very organised side and its not hard to see why they are not conceding goals at this stage of the season,so all credit to them.
On the injury front we have one or two problems with players at the moment and I will post more news on here as soon as I have 3-2 win against hot favourites and Premier League side Senrab A.
The first half was an even affair with both sides having chances to take the lead. However it was Santos who grabbed the opener after a great through ball from James which Joshua pounced on and slotted past the keeper to make it one nil.Senrab continued to make chances and were dangerous on the break and deservdly grabbed the equaliser just before half time which sent the sides in 1-1 at the break.
Straight from the kick off Santos were straight at Senrab and put them under pressure and it was only a matter of time before the second goal was scored and it came from last seasons top scorer Elliott who went on a solo run from half way beating a couple of defenders before sending a great cross shot past the Senrab keeper to make it 2-1,From then on the boys took control and the gap of 2 divisions between the sides could not be seen, the pressure duly told with about 15 minutes to go when a great passs from Kelvin put through Lewis who hit an ustoppable piledriver from 25 yards which gave the keeper no chance.
All credit to Senrab who then hit back with a second goal 10 minutes from time and then put the boys under heavy pressure and it was only a couple of fine saves from the keeper which kept them out.
A great result for the club which has now seen them knock out two premier league clubs in two matches.Man of the match today was Jamie Wilkinson.

noreply@blogger.com opening two fixtures with a fine 3-2 victory away to Ryan FC at Parmitters sports ground in Chingford Essex. The boys raced into an early lead with two quick goals from last seasons top scorer Elliot Wilkinson, however the advantage was soon lost with two quick strikes from Ryan which saw the teams go in 2 - 2 at half time.
After what was in no doubt a good half time lecture from Manager Steve Shefford the boys came out for the second half well fired up and launched repeated attacks at the Ryan defence, the pressure duly told with a good inswinging free kick duly turned in again by Elliott which gave him a fine hatrick, although Ryan then had some pressure towards the end of the game Santos held on to make it six points from their first two games.

noreply@blogger.com
